The promos for Sept. 7's MTV Video Music Awards, featuring host Russell Brand and a healthy (dare we say happy?) Britney Spears are a hit. Are you ready for Britney's return?

I agree with another post: She can't make a comeback if she never went away. Like it or not, this girl is pop superstardom in female form. Indeed, she is "the legendary Miss Britney Spears."

Lucie Sun, Aug 17, 2008 at 10:29 AM EST

Russell brand is the best ever! My favorite celeb by far!!! i have his book and have read it twice and its the best book ever! also i agree with mel he has the best voice! I also listen to his radio show on saturdays at 9pm its soo good. You could say i am a bit obsessed lol
I LOVE RUSS!!

Brian Braatz Sat, Aug 16, 2008 at 11:21 PM EST

I would not want to indulge myself in her personal life on any level. That is unless, she actually read this and struck up a conversation with me. I don't think she would quiz me about what I know about her. I think she would rather ask me about ME. I'm not a self-centered individual, and, I know that SHE isn't either....hmmm.

Chris Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 12:12 AM EST

Blackout is what I refer to as "another level sh*t", meaning, this sh*t is on a different level from everything else! Blackout is a creative, exciting, well-produced pop album and is easily her best work today. Had it been promoted properly, this would be obvious.

mel Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 06:52 PM EST

russell brand is an english comedian he is so funny and i love him he was in st.trinians, forgetting sarah marshall and has a book out called my booky wook it is the best book i have ever read he some how manages to make what seems to be a difficult and sad childhood into happy and comical one and he also has the most amazing voice!check him out hes great!

Kat0327 Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 10:32 AM EST

Russell Brand is great! check him out on youtube and BBC! He is beautiful inside and out. Britney is looking better! It's always good to see someone get better, I hope it's not just makeup and cameras ect...There are a lot of things you can do to make someone look "good". I really do hope she is truely doing well. Russell is the only reason I'm watching though:o)

Jonathan Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 03:46 PM EST

i feel so sorry about britney.

Jenn Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 01:46 PM EST

lol, she still has fans?

CdnDude Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 11:07 AM EST

Im confused. So many posters claim to not care about Britney or her activities, yet many have taken the time to comment about her here (and elsewhere I'm sure). If she is that meaningless to you, why did you click on a link related to her and promotion of her? THEN you took the time to bash her?
She's ratings gold (just ask the cast of "how I met your mother") and she looks fantastic, I'm definitely rooting for her.

You'reDumb Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 11:04 AM EST

If you don't care......

If you don't care......

Kari Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 10:39 AM EST

I agree with all the posters..Blackout was her best album and the only Britney CD I ever bought. Radar,Get Naked,Hot as Ice, Break the Ice, Perfect Lover, Why Should I Be Sad, Gimme More, all these singles were awesome and it's a shame she never promoted this album. Hopefully she will perform one of these if she gets the chance at the VMAs.

GingerCat Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 10:20 AM EST

Why does she need to come back? She's not even talented enough to be one of the backup Pussycat Dolls. She was lucky to have the success she did, now she should stay away and try to have a normal life. She clearly can't handle fame and celebrity, and her last CD barely registered. The public would have forgotten her by now if the media wasn't so obsessed with her. And Britney fans, save your hysteria for someone who cares. The rest of us don't have to like her just because you do.

Larry Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 09:52 AM EST

Why doesn't she put the effort of making a come back into raising her kids?

emily Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 09:37 AM EST

these promos are beyond awesome. britney looks cute and happy.

p.s. and i love russell brand, he's a riot.

garth Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 09:17 AM EST

MTV is still on the air?

Scott Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 08:42 AM EST

She can't make a comeback if she never really went away.

Muffy Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 12:23 AM EST

Oh, please

MTV SUCKS NOW!!

100% HATEBOT

Mike Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 11:54 PM EST

Russell Brand was the best thing about the Sarah Marshall movie, so I did some research on him. His BBC weekly radio show, available by podcast on ITunes, is hilarious. Also check out some of the YouTube vids of him doing press for the Sarah Marshall movie. Witty, fast-brained dude.

Classy Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

I'm thrilled. I hope she does perform at the VMAs, or at least shows up. She's the only reason I'm looking forward to the show. Without her I know it's going to be blah-just like every other award show that she doesn't show up for. PLEASE let her perform "Radar". It could be awesome.

HadasBT Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 08:33 PM EST

YAY RUSSELL AND BRITNEY

Jessica S Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 08:11 PM EST

Ummm, that's "bode well for THE show". Perhaps it's time for bed:)

Jessica S Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 08:07 PM EST

Here's hoping whatever she's cooking up is better than last years comeback performance. I do enjoy the spots because she looks healthier than she has in a long time. Whether she ever "sings" again means nothing to me, but I do want her to succeed for those fans that have stuck by her through her struggles.

Also, it took me seeing the commercial three times to remember that Russell Brand is the dude from 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'-that doesn't bode well for show.

Colby's Wife Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 06:02 PM EST

WTF Cares About Slutney? Now that she's rid of her kids and can party hearty, she's finally happy and healthy? That sucks. Why don't you media cover the hardworking artists who play straight and have talent other than as striptease artists.

strickens_girl Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 05:55 PM EST

I honestly couldn't care any less.

Tate Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 05:33 PM EST

How was "Blackout" anyone's favorite Britney album? The songs were overproduced and written by people that are so out of step with who Britney is. On top of that, she took the easy way out and exploited the sexual angle like never before. I mean, really, how much thought and talent does it take to add the moaning girl on "Piece of Me"? What's next? Full on porn? Britney was never the most talented kid, but she is better than that. I think she should take a step back a do something totally unexpected - an album of mellow, Alanis-like songs. What possibly could the tabloid goons say or do then?

Anon Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

Isn't Russell Brand that guy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall???

Aside from that, I'm just happy Britney's gotten back to her old self, and I definitely look forward to more of her music...but I do miss the Oops I Did it Again days.

AJ Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:58 PM EST

I would pee my pants and jump for joy if she made a return to the VMA's and gave us a little old school Britney performance. America likes two things in their superstars -- to see them crumble and then to see them rise again. I would love to see her rise again!!

JDO64 Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:38 PM EST

Blackout was the first Brit CD I ever bought & it is great! I take it to the gym! I agree, it is a very solid CD. Just think how well it would've done if she was well enough to have promoted it? I hope she gets it together.

Monee Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:32 PM EST

I am glad to see her back. Makes me wonder what was going through her mind just a year ago. What a difference just a little bit of time can make.

irma Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:31 PM EST

its so good to see britney looking healthy and happy and this promo spot is the perfect next step to fixing her image.. way to go brit! and i hope you give a bonus to your agent cause hes working miracles

escargot Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

Russell is hilarious, he's the only reason I'll be tuning in to the VMAs. And yes, Brit looks like she's going to back herself right off the sofa to get away from him!

klo Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:26 PM EST

have to agree with some and chime in -- Blackout is SUCH a solid album, I listen to it at the gym and marvel at how good all the songs are, can't believe get naked wasnt a huge #1 smash, LOVE that song!

kristen Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

hahahahahaaaa the "elephant in the room". loved it, very clever touch.

Danielle Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:24 PM EST

I know of Russell Brand because he did an interview with the Spice Girls on their reunion tour and they were trying to hook him up with Geri. He brought his Mom on the interview.

dan Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:05 PM EST

Who is "russell brand"? Is this guy famous? I've never even heard of him.

Raven_Moon Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

I love Russell Brand! I may actually watch the VMA's this year. Also, it was nice seeing Britney looking better.

Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Is it just me or does she look like she's trying to lean as far away from Russell as possible? It must be bad if you'd rather lean against an ELEPHANT than a human being. Elephants are kinda stinky. But she looks good, healthy, and like she's having fun. I don't respect her choices too much, but I also don't like the way the media treats her and the other girls her age (Lindsay, MaryKate/Ashley, etc.).

B- Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:44 PM EST

"Blackout" is a solid pop album. Gimme More, Radar, Piece of Me, Heaven on Earth, Break the Ice, Why Should I Be Sad, Get Naked. All these songs are top notch. It's funny how Britney's CD was considered a failure when creatively, and yes even commercially it isn't. Think about it. The CD was widely bootlegged online 2 weeks prior to it's release. She did no promotion for it. And also did a near career ending performance at the VMA's. With all that she still managed a 1st week of 275K. Janet and JLo were both sane, and out there promoting their new albums, and both couldn't even garner the same 1st week sales as a crazy, head shaven, out of control, fan alienating Britney Spears. So if she is finally back on track and on her game, she will do very well. She should just perform "Radar" though if she does perform. Leave the new CD for Summer 09 and give Blackout some much deserved attention.

Q-A Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:35 PM EST

It's hilarious... I wonder though, will Blackout will ever be recognize as the best dance cd ever (push over madonna), since everybody thinks it wasn't a comeback...

graeme Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

Through all her troubles, I can't believe Britney can return and still be her charming self and put a big grin on my face.
All the more power to her.

I'm a little worried that they dropped promotion (and future singles) off "Blackout" in order to push a new album. It's gonna be difficult to top the quality of "Blackout", but I think the producers, writers, and Britney knows how good the material has to be, so hopefully it is.

amy Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:11 PM EST

elephant in the room!! Hilarious! I still don't know about Russell Brand though. Britney looks great.. good for her and her family... Hopefully, if she makes an appearance at the VMA's, it will be to present or something...nothing to over the top!

Eric Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 03:06 PM EST

Kudos to Britney. She's looking spectacular. I'm excited for her to have some new material, that she's going to go out and promote. Soon her star will be shining brightly again. I hope that she performs at the VMA's.

RayT Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 02:39 PM EST

If "Blackout," the best album she's ever made, couldn't spark a comeback, I don't know what can.

Daniel Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 02:29 PM EST

I still can't believe I missed his appearance on Conan (which got a "Cheers" from TV Guide) from a few weeks ago. I've scoured the web, but I can't find a clip of it anywhere. :(

veronica Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

I love russell brand! he is soo funny! and britney looks good too. its nice to c her looking healthy. but w/RUSSELL hosting i might just watch this year's VMAs.

Natalie Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 01:14 PM EST

Love the adverts. Elephant was a nice touch...lol! So nice to see Britney looking good again!

DM Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 01:08 PM EST

Glorious. As soon as I saw the elephant, I started laughing.

Lizzy Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 12:52 PM EST

I really am looking forward to Britney getting back...when she isn't going crazy she actually is adorable.

I love Russell Brand...Forgetting Sarah Marshall is still one of my favorite movies of the year

IndianaJenn Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 12:39 PM EST

I'm so glad I'm not the only one, Winona. I was feeling old there for a sec- not knowing who the host of the VMAs was.

wontonjon Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

Huh. How about that? She looks put together and not losing it. Good for her! I've never particularly cared for her music, but it's always nice to see someone get back on track

Winona Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 12:31 PM EST

Honestly, I'm happy to see that Britney seems to be doing well. But who the $#*& is Russell Brand?
