It goes without saying that 24's real-time, season-in-a-day structure brought an innovative jolt of energy to network television when it premiered on Fox back in 2001. But as you'll see from season 1's "3 a.m.-4 a.m." (the fourth episode in the series' run), the Kiefer Sutherland drama owes a lot of its popularity to good old-fashioned suspense and paranoia, too. Trying to figure out the hidden agendas of 24's myriad characters provided viewers with a complex, thrilling puzzle (filled with unexpected deaths, traitorous twists, and even a wacky case of amnesia), and it's one of the reasons the show lands at No. 34 on our on our list of the Top 100 TV Series of the last 25 years in the current EW 1000 issue.
This is the final installment in EW.com's selection of 10 great episodes of programs on our top 100 list. We've streamed an episode from a different show for the last 10 days; you can watch the entire slate in one sitting at Hulu. The first half of the list is here; Part 2 is here.
