'So You Think You Can Dance': Jessica's out, Comfort's in

Jul 14, 2008, 06:31 PM | by Lisa Raphael

Categories: Reality TV, Ripped from the headlines!

After an injury, So You Think You Can Dance finalist Jessica King leaves and Comfort Fedoke, eliminated last Thursday, takes Jessica's place in the Top 10.

After watching Jessica plié for her life these past few weeks on So You Think You Can Dance, one thing became apparent: No matter how much technique, soul, or heartfelt contemporary routines this girl put out there, the judges were going to bash her on something. All their critiques centered around the idea that she was dead weight in her partnership with their beloved Debbie Allen protégé Will Wingfield. Last week Nigel went so far as to say the judges wished they could have sent home two girls to save one of the bottom three boys.

Touted as the best female hip hopper, Comfort Fedoke is getting a second chance, and can be seen performing with the Top 10 dancers this Wednesday night. In a statement released by Fox, top judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe said, "I would like to say how sorry I am that Jessica cannot continue dancing in the competition at the advice of her doctor. Her full recovery is paramount and will only come with rest. We are fortunate that Comfort has agreed to rejoin the competition and know that under the circumstances she has Jessica's full support." No mention was made about the specifics surrounding Jessica's injury.

Not only will Comfort be replacing Jessica in the Top 10, but she'll take the contemporary dancer's place on the So You Think You Can Dance tour that will hit 50 cities across the country this fall. For fans, we knew that Jess's days were numbered, but to think the redhead was going to go out like this? And for many, Comfort's exit last week was not only appropriate but arguably well overdue -- do you think she even has it in her to return to the stage? Or will she just be a placeholder until Thursday night's elimination? And why didn't Nigel and the gang just bring back Thayne and really shake things up? How will Jessica's exit and Comfort's reappearance change things for the other contestants? Tell us what you think!

UPDATE: On the July 16 edition of SYTYCD, after both Jessica and Comfort were noticeably absent from the opening role call, Cat pulled Jessica out on stage to give us the news on her next steps. The dancer said that her doctors discovered the growing pain in her side was actually one fractured and two broken ribs, and that she'd be taking the next four weeks off to rest in order to appear on tour in the fall. Sources involved with the show and tour said that this decision will be conditional on Jessica's health at the time of the tour; they also reported that Comfort will be on the tour acting as an alternate if Jessica is able to perform, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.

P Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 02:59 AM EST

Comfort might be good at hip-hop...she has to be if she has made it so far...but come on, she was definitely not in the league of other dancers on the show like katee, josh or will!! anybody who says that is seriously deluded!! anybody can stick to their thing...the show is about growing and being able to do perform out of ur "comfort" zone.

Ellen Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 03:56 PM EST

You forget the nasty things Mia said as a judge about Jessica. She pretty much told her she sucked right on the air. I don't think there's anything wrong with Jessica medically. I think they let her "retire" gracefully, to make up for Mia trashing her, and trying to end her dancing career live on TV.

Rachie B Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 09:14 PM EST

I do not think they should have brought Comfort back but because of her Kherington got knocked off and Kherington was a wayyyy better dancer than Comfort everyone just felt sorry for her:*( P.S. Everytime she did a solo I thought "Deja Vu"!!!!!!!!!!

Rachie B Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 09:08 PM EST

If Thayne were to stay and 2 girls were to get knocked off then 2 guys would have to partner yeah that would be halarious but that would not be fair for the dancers especially if they had like the waltz!

Diane Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 02:01 AM EST

TO CC: Has nothing to do about hip hop or ghetto or high class looking down. The guys left on there can do hip hop and other dances and have the chemistry with there partners and they are still on.

CC Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 10:29 PM EST

Many people are claiming that America is racist for not liking Comfort. I don't quite think that's the right term. I think it's not only because she is black- but because she is a hip hop dancer, she is ghetto, and she is hood or "street". Now don't get me wrong; these are the reasons why I love Comfort. Of course she is not as technically sound as the other dancers. But she has a great personality and a lot of charisma- she gives it her all and I think she has done very well with the other genres. Anyways, I don't find it surprising to see people hating on her- most probably attribute her "ghettoness" to her being low class. This has been the story for ages- people of higher classes looking down upon those of lower classes. I don't even know what "class" Comfort is in, but I'm pretty sure that many view her as low class.

Bottom line: People are hating on Comfort not particularly because of racism, but [for lack of a better word] because of "classism".

Steve in Cali Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Of the eight finalists, four were African American, one was 1/2 Chinese and one was 1/2 Japanese. Just because a lot of people didn't think Comfort was a good dancer doesn't mean that Americans are racist. An African American female(Sabra) won last year. The probable reason Will went home is that a lot of his fans felt he was totally safe and either didn't vote or voted for their second favorite dancer.

Diane Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 06:54 PM EST

So sorry to hear the bad news about Jess. I use to dance ballroom/latin and hustle/disco. I also broke my ribs and 2 toes and U can continue to dance. Speedy recover to Jess. As far as Comfort, she can only do one dance hip hop and the same routine each wk on solo, which I agree with most on here. This show is about coming on doing your Solo and then pairing up with a partner and learning other dances.
If Comfort is an instructor she should pick up when she is in Chrog. class and learn to do other dances.
She isn't. Bad deal there.

52 Faces Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 04:56 PM EST

I am waiting for Chelsie to be voted off at long last. Although Mark is my personal favorite, I don't know if he deserves to win...

My prediction for who will win...
http://52faces.blogspot.com/2008/07/so-you-think-you-can-dance.html

Karen Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:21 PM EST

I want either Katee or Chelsie to win because they are the strongest dancers !

Scooby Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 08:04 AM EST

Hooray, Hooray, Hooray.
Free at last, Free at last, thank God almighty we are free at last of seeing Comforts lack of dancing skills ever again on TV.
I was shocked though to see Will was voted off. I was totaly expecting Mark to get it.
Go Joshua and Kateee!!!!!

TRACEY Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:20 AM EST

WHO DO U THINK IS GOING TO WIN ?

TRACEY Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 01:18 AM EST

I WAS MAD WHEN THEY TAKE WILL OUT IT WAS JUST WRONG

Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 11:06 PM EST

THis has turned out to be SHOW YOU CAN DANCE HIP HOP only.....

Beth Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:33 PM EST

Geesh many of you are so harsh towards Comfort...she has grown so much since the beginning. I actually found her beautiful to watch when she was doing those waltzes, she seemed to float--because of the contrast between who she wants us to see her as and what she can be when she lets go of that persona. She needs to trust herself and I believe she is trusting herself and others more now.
All of you have to realize that all the dancers at this stage are very talented so it is sad to see most of them go.

N/A Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 09:11 PM EST

Yes! Confort is gone! Finally!

Go Home Comfort cuz you SUCK ! Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:45 PM EST

YES !!! Comfort's going home cuz she can't dance hip hop, fox trot, contemporary, smooth waltz, etc etc.

FINALLY !!!! I'm so happy !!

Scooby Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:30 AM EST

Well folks, So you think you can dance is all about how talented each dancer is in multi forms of dance. And once again Comfort has "FAILED, FAILED, FAILED, FAILED, FAILED in any other type of dance except Hip Hop.

Go Sis, you need to get a life and this has nothing to do with Racism and I am tired of the African American community screaming that when they don't get their way.
I am Caucasian (or for you GoSIS i'm a "Cracker") and I am rooting for Joshua and Katee to be in the final two so I am not a racist by harping on Comforts lack of talent in all except Hip Hop.
I can only hope that America gets it right and votes Comfort off tonight.
Go Joshua and Katee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maria Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:09 PM EST

well for all those who are agitated that Comfort was asked to rejoin the show when they could have let Carrington re join i think that is understandable. however for those who trash her on her style of dance thats just wrong. i am a daner and have danced hip hop, jazz, and tap since i was 5. Ocmfort is good at what she does and for her to have made it as far as she did wit little technical training is astounding. please dont hate on her because she is different form all the other dancers., and if u reallyu want to see how difficult hipohop is u should take a class

Go sis Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

I think all of you who dislike Comfort are racists. All other chicks were trying to be sexy but Comfort doesn't have to do that as she own the stage with her style. I wonder how many white dancers will be the final four. The answer is none as white people can't dance.

B Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 04:58 PM EST

I was surprised to see Comfort back but I think she has improved even if it is just a bit. True her solo's haven't been as good as other hip hop dancers on the show but I think she'll step it up. Now as for calling out GoSis for taking it to another level I derect your attention to these which don't talk about her dancing but goes into personal attacks:

Quote:

She acts like a gangsta and she has no class. I wish she would stop contaminating the show with her stupid gibberish and her sadly but true "desperate swagger".

End Quote

SO...if you dont like Comfort fine but keep the comments on her dance and back up the opinon with more than "she sucks" and calling her a street bum.

Nessa Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 09:13 PM EST

Oh, and GoSis: It's just as wrong to be racist against white people as it is to be racist against anyone else. No one said a word about anyone's race, only their talent.
Why would you take it there? Pathetic.

Nessa Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 09:11 PM EST

I personally find Comfort boring to watch. The only thing about her solo that changes is the music. I don't see why they didn't just do what they did when Jessi Peralta went to the hospital: she was the eliminated dancer, no contest, and America voted its bottom three anyway. They could have brought back Comfort as a partner only, not a competitor.

And.... What happened to the bottom three? Since when did it become the bottom two?

Sun, Jul 20, 2008 at 05:10 PM EST

I am a dancer myself and know what takes to accomplish style . GEV was eliminated , he is an all-rounder , entertaining , versatile . he has taken part in almost all the difficult latin dancers which require so much practice to gain style and finish. What about the remaining Guys Twitch , who is commended all the time , his forte is hip hop and he seems to be dancing only that style did he do the Jive , or the rumba , but still he is in., Is this show called “SHOW YOU CAN DANCE HIP-HOP” or to see the most versatile dancer The judging is biased . they scrutinize for trying different styles and by that America also follows. Carinton got eliminated why because she had to attempt other styles as well , comfort is only good in hip-hop there she stays.. Sad to see where this is heading ….

Staci Brubaker Sat, Jul 19, 2008 at 10:04 PM EST

For "Go Sis"- I was bored and wanted to see what other people thought about the street thug Comfort, but what do I read instead? Filth! "Kick some white ass"?! It's people like you who truly keep this country in turmoil. As for Comfort(what a ridiculous name) she truly does suck and I really do wish she would STOP grabbing her crotch! Although she does look quite a bit like a man. If that IS the case, carry on boy! Grab away! (Just please stop dancing!)

ann Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 07:24 PM EST

i think everyone who says comfort sucks are what i call "HATERS!"
comfort is an EXCELLENT dancer!
she's so gud that they decided to bring her back. out of all people the judges chose to bring her back! thats because they know she can dance her tail off! they know what their talking about and obviously those who think she cant dance doesnt!
so to comfort's "HATERS!".....keep on hating! she's getting famous! you're not! comfort keep doing you're thing girl!

Comfort Sucks! Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 04:07 PM EST

Comfort's got no personality and her hip hop is not that great. It was really painful having to watch her do the same old "dance for your life routine" week after week after week after week. Now we have to endure watching her try to dance quick step, jazz, or contemporary next week and at the same time, she's going to ruin her partner's chances. She's up there with Cedric for being the worst dancer on SYTYCD!

I mean bleed.

Rosa Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 02:26 PM EST

OMG Comfort is a terrible dancer even in hip hop. My eyes blead when she dances. Please vote her off!!!!!

Scooby Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 02:23 PM EST

Comfort has improved "NOT", that is heresy talk by the judges. Comfort is terrible at all but Hip Hop. Let's compare her to someone her equal whom has dramatically improved. Joshua, he is a Hip Hop artist, yet he is able to do other dances he has never even heard of. Joshua is the one deserving of the title "Most Improved". Comfort deserves the title of "Piggybacker" as she has made to where she is at not because of her severely lacking talent. But because of her riding on the shoes of better dancers. She needs to go, she just really, really sucks. Comfort is multitalentless, and non-charismatic.

Lynette Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 02:19 PM EST

Vanessa, I agree with you 100%

This season has sucked big. I've been to the tours for the previous seasons but I will not attend this year with Comfort in it.

vanessa =] Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 12:25 PM EST

I could honestly careless about how many contracts COMFORT has been given! She obviously isnt a technical dancer at all!!!!! I believe that So you think you can dance is a rigged show and that it has really lost the idea with which it began! Obviously from this site alone we can tell that America does not like comfort so how is it possible that every week even though she ends up in the bottom she is still saved by "america's" votes. NO ONE LIKES HER! SHE SUCKS! i agree that hip hop is very entertaining but you can not take away the years of technical training and performance quality that many of that dancers in this competition have. How could someone with variety and technique be sent home over someone that simply wears baggy clothes, dances hip hop and a women that grabs her crotch? Is this what we want to be "American's Best Dancer"? i dont think so. She has no variety or technique or personality what so ever! Everyone should boycott the tour and maybe we can get a beter next season

:) Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 11:09 AM EST

comfort is a teacher at my dance studio. she is a great hip hop dancer and i think it was fair to have her come back into the competion. Yes it was sad for jessica to have to leave the competion. but comfort has really improved in the competition and that is my opinion i dont care what yall think. the show is not fixed so deal with it. and dont blame the show.

Karen Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 08:55 AM EST

I found this season of SYTYCD to be the worse season ever. Except for Katee and Chelsie H, I felt that all the other dancers didn't even compare with the dancers from previous seasons. I'm definitely not paying to see the people on tour this year....it's not worth it.

Squeaks Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 08:17 AM EST

I agree that Comfort is not a good dancer for the other genres of dance, but she does rock in her own genre. It's great that she will be on tour with the top 10; it will add spice to the show. As well, Jessica will ALSO be on tour with the group. So it is a win-win situation. Both Comfort and Jessica had memorable routines during the show and that will be showcased in the tour! :)

Donna Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 07:01 AM EST

I don't think they should have brought Comfort back to me each time she dance solo the moves are pretty much always the same. It is not fair that she get a second chance when she shouldn't have been there in the first place. Kerrighton should not have been voted off last night by any means. Don't get me wrong the other girls minus Comfort all deserve to be there. Can't wait until Jessica is able to return to the tour and Comfort shouldn't be allowed in the tour, not even as a back up dancer. Good luck to the remaining dancers expecially Katee and Joshua. Have fune and enjoy.

sunshine Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 01:27 AM EST

i was excited that comfort was voted off.. then i notice we lost a dancer.. and i said to myself.. great.. then when they told us the news. i blurted out..NO!!!!!!! I dont like comfort and i am not happy at all to know that she was kept in. I dont understand and i agree that it feels its set up. i dont know how comfort stayed in so long and i wish that she wasnt the last female dancer to have been voted so that it was someone else. I agree with writers i also fast forward it when she talks. there is something about her and/or her attitude i just dont like. i like the three other girls and i like the rest of the guys. its gonna be hard. however, the group dances havent been as good as previous seasons.. i quess we will see.. but i am very mad to know that she was kept in. i would feel terrible if it was me to know that i was in the bottom 3 or 2 every week... sooo upset!!!

LeFly Fri, Jul 18, 2008 at 12:25 AM EST

The charm has worn off. The show is clearly fixed. Is it just a coincidence that Comfort and Twitch get a hip-hop routine as their 2nd performance? Together? Is Gev really less popular than Mark? Come on! If they're not gonna keep this legit, then they're not keeping me as a viewer. Here's the deal: when they do the tour, it's the hip-hop acts that draw the crowds so they did what they had to do to make sure the hip-hop dancers last throughout the competition, including bringing Comfort back. For the longest time I thought this was a legitimate competition and really enjoyed watching it. I feel a little foolish now.

People in this country like underdog.

To Mr. DJ Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 11:57 PM EST

I don't know what is so great about Comforts but I hate the way she talked. Also She looks like a street bum. It's great for her to get all the contracts you've mentioned, but I'm not going to spend a single penny to watch her.

Go Sis Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 11:46 PM EST

Comforts, I've got your back. Let kick some white ass

win Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 11:30 PM EST

I honestly believe Twitch should not be in the top 10. He can not dance anything other than hip hop. He never had a hard routine outside his comfort level to show off any sort of technique. He is just cruising by on the show and it seems like every week, he is picking a hip hop routine or something similar as one of his two dances. Twitch normally does not do well on the other dance which is not hip hop where the judges tell him he is not so good. And it is true, he is really bad at the other dances, no technique, no grace, no fluidity. But he always gets a hip hop routine to redeem himself and get a praise from the judges. Is that just coincidence? But is it me or is it true that he can't dance any other style besides his own. And when he does dance the other styles, he gets the easiest routines. Seems so unfair when everyone else gets a hard routine every now and then.

"COMFORT"-The Not So Comforting Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 10:31 PM EST

I can't believe Comfort's back... >:(

Amy Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 08:44 PM EST

Comfort shouldn't have even been in the top 20. Comfort is going home ! yeah !!

DJ Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 07:55 PM EST

I think Comfort is awesome. She is by far the best hip hop female dancer ever. Her moves rock. I thought Jessica was not good and she was hanging on by a thread. Sure Comfort's specialty is hip-hop, so what. Others are weak in places and strong in other places. Stop hatin on the girl and let her do her thing. She got this far and speaks for itself. To all the Comfort haters, you will see her on a lot of stuff, contracts already on the table. So HATE all you want, it only makes her stronger. She is greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaatttttttt!

samsamsam Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 05:51 PM EST

I THINK THAT COMFORT SHOULD NOT COME BACK SHE SUCKS UNLIKE OTHER CONTESTANTS THAT DO NOT HAVE TOO MUCH TECHNIQUE THEY ARE ALL STILL MUCH BETTER THAN HER. I DO AGREE THAT JESSICA HAD TO LEAVE WAY BEFORE AND SHOULD HAVE NOT MADE TOP 10 BUT COMFORT SHOULD NOT HAVE EITHER. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DONT THINK SHE TAKES THE COMPETITION TOO SERIOUSLY AND FOR HER THIS IS JUST SOMETHING TO DO. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED, BUT FOR ALL THE OTHER CONTESTANTS I THINK THEIR PLACE IN THE TOP 10 IS WELL DESERVED.

I dislike the personality of Comfort. She is probably a nice girl but I just don't like her with no reason. I hope you are done today.

areil Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 11:50 AM EST

i Think Comfort Rocks with a capital R. She doesn't have training so shes not on the leave of the ball dancer, however she brings spice and charm and makes you laugh. She has so much class...even when the judges are bashing her attempt to connect with her partner she smiles and nods at their advice. I would hate to see her go after she came back on the show...especially after some of the girls tend to be slacking right now, and she had such a good performance last night. =)

poutchild Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 10:51 AM EST

KATEE FOR THE WIN!!! yay :]. neither of the dancers were as excellent as Katee in my opinion, and both Jessica and Comfort would have been weeded out eventually. This week, next week, does it matter? And I thought that Jessica said she WOULD be doing the tour when she got better in 4 weeks..she said that on the show tonight. And if the judges brought back Thayne, who would he dance with -_-? There would only be 4 girls anyhow. Anyways, I love Katee and Joshua :]

Scooby Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 08:48 AM EST

I think something else is going on behind the scenes and we are not getting the whole truth. I have had broken ribs before and you can hardly breath, standup, let alone dance. Jessica was standing tall and normally when she announced her leaving, and breathing without difficulty. Comfort is a one way streak, she only knows Hip Hop. Hopefully she will be voted off tonight once and for all.

Jecentha Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 08:43 AM EST

All these dancers are good in their own way and bring something different to the table. I wish people would stop hating on Will. He actually is a great dancer and it is not his fault that the judges love him. And they darn well should. Comfort has grown so much. I am shocked that she is able to do the things she does. I think she could be an inspiration to hip-hop dancers who believe that they can only do one style of dance(hip-hop). I wish a speedy recovery for Jessica. Listen everyone, Jessica is a female, she was injured, so they brought back the last female voted off(Comfort), 5 men and 5 women. Make sense? It is as simple as that.

Shonda Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 07:35 AM EST

First things first- I find it interesting yet disturbing that people on this blog are attacking each others opinions and even grammar. But getting to business-Comfort is unique in her style and does add some spice to the show. Is she a technical dancer? Heck no! Could she become more technical with experience and training? The potential shines every time she moves the way she does that she could be graceful if taught to do so. Unfortunately Jessica was hurt and it forced the show to bring back the most recently voted off female. I believe it takes guts and courage on Comforts part to come back only to know she will get voted off again. So I have respect for her doing so..I probably would not have-its embarassing situation. Iam personally a fan of Will the guy is solid, consistent and seems geniunely humble about his ability to dance at all times. The partnership last night was great in my opinion he was with the most consistent female dancer on the show.

Joan Zupan Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 07:33 AM EST

I was so relieved last week when it was finally decided Comfort should leave the show. She can only do one kind of dance, and often that is not performed well. She also has a terrible egotistical personality, which doesn't go well with the other dancers on the show. It was a mistake to bring her back.

Joan Samet Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 06:52 AM EST

I do not think Comfort should be there if anything Thayne is the better dancer. It would'nt suprise me if Comfort gets voted off tonight. Watching her perform last night convinced me that she does not belong with the final 10. Her Hip Hop routine with Twitch was amazing but in my opinion she is not able to perform the other types of routines.

sarah Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 06:42 AM EST

jessica was a great dancer and im not so happy that comfort is back on the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maya Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 06:25 AM EST

Although I love the judges, I think they were extremelly cruel with Jessica, and it is obvious that they are aiming for Will to win... But trashing Jessica as they did, WAS NOT RIGHT!, Jess is a beautiful dancer and man she maintaing her posture like a real lady all the time. Way to go Girl !!!!

Paige Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 01:57 AM EST

Why, why, why didn't they bring Thayne back?! This was the PERFECT opportunity to do exactly what they wanted - get rid of two girls. I'm bummed.

Stacy Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 01:07 AM EST

That is soooo disappointing. So glad i recorded the show so i can fast forward through her pathetic attempts at "dancing". not to worry though, I'm pretty confidant that she will find her self in the bottom three once again, where she belongs.

niki Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:46 AM EST

and "plie for her life" is the dumbest line i have ever heard- any dancer, who would actually know what a plie is, would say the same

niki Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:42 AM EST

i mean do WELL. go TWITCH!

niki Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:40 AM EST

i was really surprised and disappointed to see comfort back on the show tonight, especially with her lack-luster solo. however, she did do good on the hip hop routine but that was her own element and the other routine was just awful. she should stick to hip hop because she is not technical or versatile enough to have stayed in the competition this long. she just has horrible feet and arms and im surprised the judges didnt point that out tonight. jessica was definitely more versatile so i felt kind of bad for her but i think she would have been eliminated tomorrow anyway.

DEE Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:35 AM EST

U GUYS ARE DUMM. WILL IS DA ISH AND JESSICA IS NOT ALL DAT GREAT SHE COO BUT WILL WUZ HOLDIN HER UP.

Cah9008 Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:28 AM EST

Instead of kicking Kourtni off several weeks ago, Comfort should have been gone. And Thayne should have NEVER been kicked off. He is an amazing dancer. I think that Kourtni should've have came back. Her dancing skills and technique were ten times better than Comfort's. And as far as Jess, I always enjoyed watching her, and the judges were always hard on her, and she never deserved the harsh criticism. :)

Get well Jess!

Casey B Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:22 AM EST

I think they should have brought back someone who is univresal in all aspects of dance, Kourtni Lind! Its going to be quite embarassing if Comfort came back for one show!

jackson Thu, Jul 17, 2008 at 12:06 AM EST

Are you guys idiots? The comments here make it sound like Jess was kicked off in place of Comfort. If Jess can't continue who do you think they are going to replace her with?? Obviously the last female to be eliminated before her, ie - Comfort. Who by the way kicked some serious ass with her hip hop routine tonight.

Colby Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

I love Comfort! I think she adds a spice to the show that it would otherwise be lacking from the girls. Jessica was a sub-par dancer who could do nothing any of the other girls couldn't do. Comfort's got moves! I love watching Comfort grow as a dancer on the show and BRING THAT HOOD BABY!

Sue Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:37 PM EST

I agree Jessica was not given the respect she deserves, and neither has Kerington been. They tell her she is doing everything right- but don't like her. I don't have a problem with Comfort coming back if jessica is j=injured- I pray for her recovery and know she will go on to do amazing things.

Robert Boehm Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:35 PM EST

I don't agree with Comfort coming back. I am gay dance major and I hate the fact they brought her back...they should have brought back someone else. I am SOOO UPSET

reader Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:35 PM EST

This message is for a poster. Dede, you should be watching "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" not "So you think you can dance". Your spelling is atrocious and your grammar needs serious help.

Sanjaya Poophead Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:35 PM EST

POOOOOOP!!!

Jen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:32 PM EST

I just got home and turned the t.v. on when I saw Comfort doing her boring solo (who brings me no such thing when I watch her dance - only complete bewilderment that she has been kept on the show for so long!!) and imagine my confusion. So I googled to find out what was going on and was really saddened to hear about Jessica's injury and having to leave the show. Personally, I would rather watch her limp across the stage than see Comfort "dance?" Jessica had heart, passion, talent. Obviously, something went on behind the scenes that rubbed the judges the wrong way and they were not objective at all. Comfort didn't seem to even care when she was in the bottom three couples or when she was asked to leave the show. I think the show needs to really consider having Jessica tour with the top 10 since she is the dancer who truly made it into the top ten.

i don't agree with comfort coming back.. i hate her she thinks she is all that when she is not... hopefully she gets eliminated tomorrow...

Robin Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:51 PM EST

This is ugly! First of all Jessica should have been given more respect...she's at another level than Comfort...yeah, Comfort can do hip hop, but she cant do anything else...which has proven over and over...Jessica is highly trained in all styles and got a bum deal from the very beginning from the judges... Mia has totally lost my respect... Just because comfort hasnt had training doesnt mean she should get off easier than Jessica... rediculous!!!!!!1

Ray Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:36 PM EST

I agree with Lisa....Upset I have to watch Comfort again!!!! Her skills are not even close to anyone on the show this season...she dances the same way every time even in her solos...there's no growth...and boring to watch. She should've been voted off at the beginning. We lost a lot of great dancers due to keeping her on. Not happy about this....

DeDe Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:06 PM EST

some of you people have no regard to comforts feelings because you would not be saying have of that stuff to her face and if you claim you would then your a low down person its cool to have your opinions but try to spar her feelings because if it were you up there you would be hurt to know that you have half of america rooting against you its cool to have favorites but dont offend any of the rest of the dancers even i dont like some of them but im not going to talk bad about them because when you look at it they are the ones who made the show not yall and the judges know what they are talking about they have years and years on top of years experience GO COMFORT YOU ROCK!

Comfort Rules Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:49 PM EST

Ladies and gentleman,,,

Both Jessie and Comfort will be on the tour. They actually always bring the final 14 or so. Last year they brought HOK and he is still to this day one of the featured dancers and he didn't make the top ten last year.

and what do you expect out of comfort when she is dancing to Marlyn Manson with the kid that has a personality of a tree!?!?

DeDe Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:40 PM EST

my thing is the people who are saying that comfort should go home or should not be there are so mean those judges have been the game for at least yrs. or more and they know what they are talkng bout if they say that jessica made some errors then she made some regardless to what yall think yall havent been judging dancing for more that twenty years so what may look good to yall may look sloppy to them they know more than you do and give comfort a break that girl can dance yall probably cant do have the stuff she does and if you can probably not as good if you were on the show you would want someone rooting for you yall should be ashamed of yourselves Go COMFORT GO ! im rooting for you if nobody is

Brianna Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:39 PM EST

oops i mean she will be on the tour, not the show.

Brianna Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:38 PM EST

first of all, I thought in order for jessica to go on tour, she wouldn't be able to go on the show so she will be on the show. And secondly, they couldn't bring back thayne because then they would have an extra couple and not enough weeks left. even if they did, both of them would go home again anyways. i think everyone including comfort knows that she will be once again going home, but they needed her as a place holder and she got another chance to dance on TV. And since we saw Jessica in the audience tonight, we know she wasn't mad and left otherwise she wouldn't be there. so everybody can just
shut-up about it because there is no real meaning behind the fact that jessica got jurt and comfort is taking her place. And we always see the complicated and dangerous moves they have to practice in that little clip before the routine, and I'm not surprised someone eventually got hurt. GO KHERINGTON and TWITCH!!!

Yuck! Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:32 PM EST

I hate comfort she is the worst dancer ever i hope she doesn't come on tour!!!

erica Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:21 PM EST

I am actually fine with Comfort coming back and maybe it still wasn't her time to leave I mean there must be something in her that she's still there maybe Thanye should have come back but who would be his partner Will? but I think Jessica and Comfort should be on tour I mean it's like it does any harm with one more person on the tour butI guess we'll see waht happens and she was great tonight on her hip hop routine sorry guys

erica Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:21 PM EST

I think Comfort is great! I love her and am glad she is back! I hope she stays and that Kerrington leaves. She wasn't good at all tonight!

Mishy Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:47 PM EST

Ummm, Jessica's explanation on the show tonite included the fact that she's going on tour. Glad to hear that, as she deserves it. Heal well, Jess!

WHAT? Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:42 PM EST

a HUGE diappointment!!! Comfort should not have been allowed back, she is so very limited in her ablities. What a disappointment. Lost one viewer, can't watch anymore.

Uhhh.... Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:23 PM EST

Why is this even up for discussion? Jess is out. End of story. You guys are wasting your time talking about it. Bye.

tuttie Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:17 PM EST

I loved Jessica, she was beautiful and she did get alot of grief from the judges. I wished she could have remained she had a great personality. Just becuase the judges give accolades to Will, doesn't mean he sucks, he is truly a talented dancer and Debbie Allen did to a great job as his protege. We can't act as though he doesn't have talent because he does. He deserves all the praise as Jessica deserves to be in Top Ten. Plus, it's not Comforts fault Jessica got hurt (I'd rather Jessica). Comfort is great hip-hop dancer, if I were her I woud have declined the offer because of pronciple not because lack of talent. But I wish all contestants the best of luck...

Barbara Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:16 PM EST

This totally sucks!! I was so happy when Comfort FINALLY got sent packing. Jessica wasn't my favorite but she was WAY BETTER than Comfort. Comfort should have been kicked off instead of the other black dancer (can't remember her name) a couple of weeks back. This SO SUCKS!

Aubrey Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:06 PM EST

i loved jessica and i was almost crying when i heard she was leaving. I was so happy when comfort left. now with jessica gone i dont want to watch the show any more.

actingup Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 08:02 PM EST

Ugh - I was so happy last week when Comfort was finally kicked off (I could not figure out how she made it past week one) - and now she is back? ARGH! She is like a bad rash that just won't go away!
And Jessica wasn't my favorite female - but I never disliked her. And I started to feel really bad for her - the judges picked on her so much. How awful to have an injury at this stage of the show. And she won't be on the tour? That is very sad.

jill Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 07:59 PM EST

wow i think comfort suxxx... she doesnt deserve to be in the competion- jessica earned it..

Annoyed Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 07:44 PM EST

OMG - I am so ticked off that Comfort is in and Jessica is out. They should have just left it at nine and figured things out. There is just something about Comfort that makes me want to barf!!

fennwick Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 07:34 PM EST

I too am sick of all the hype on Will...sure he is good, but I find myself not liking him because he is constantly pushed in my face as sooo wonderful and why must they keep reminding us that he is Debbie Allens protege...big whoop. I hope Joshua kicks butt!

opus Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:32 PM EST

Thayne is truly getting gipped. He is better than either of the two girls and these great choreographers could figure out how to work with six guys and 4 girls on the summer tour. Is there some rulle it has to be 5 and 5? Of course, if there isn't, Nigel will make one up.

Baby Laura Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:29 PM EST

I meant my comment directed to Jody. Sorry for the mis ssspellings!

baby laura Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:27 PM EST

Good for you! i agree with you except for the hate patr. i d hate the way the judges pimp Will. I said it at the beginning that the fawning would have a reverse effect and it will. Almost a dozen dances and Will still hasnt' shown me anything (on a consistent basis). He is good or he wouldn't be on the show. But GREAT? NO!!!!He does look a lot like Martin lawrence, tho! and tries to act like him, too!

hannah Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:27 PM EST

seriously, whats with all the will hate? yes, the judges pretty much praise him week after week...but its because he does BRILLIANTLY each show!

sara Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:23 PM EST

um what makes you question why the judges didnt bring thayne back?? HELLO, he wouldn't have a partner!

Carol Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 04:42 PM EST

JerseyGirl - I agree, Danny is a WAY BETTER dancer then Will.

Delon Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

I like Comfort, but i agree with Lisa; why not bring Thayne to shake things up? I thought his elimination was premature and Comfort will end up being eliminated twice in a row.

Jodi Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

I hate will. I hate how no matter what he does the judges are all lke "oh will you are so perfect Jessica you stink boo hiss." Some of their performances has not been nearly as good as others and everyone is still like "oh will you da bomb" :) But comfort sucks too so whatever. Go Gev and Courtney and Mark and Chelsea!

wand3rful Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

whats with the will hate? he is an amazing dancer, seemingly sweet and caring to his partner, yet he is being blamed for the judges' rude, annoying comments. puhleeze. is he the best, not sure. but thats why the competition is weeks long, to make our decision. anyhoo, sorry to see jess go..had hoped she would make a comeback.

Sarah Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 03:26 PM EST

I do think Jessica's a *bit* of a better dancer, but Comfort's got a better personality for sure. That's what this is all about though-- a good mix of dancing ability AND personality. That's why, even though he is the judge's fave, Will won't win. Just my opinion.

Baby Laura Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 03:15 PM EST

To Nadia, the phrase was that THEY, meaning Will and Jessica, "had several melt downs". Nothing was said about who or what was the problem.
Anyway, Jessica deserves to be on the tour if she is physically able.

Morgan Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 02:32 PM EST

Have to feel a little sympathy for poor Comfort, who faces the possibility of being eliminated from the show twice in the same season. Double jeopardy doesn't apply on SYTYCD!

twist Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 02:25 PM EST

As of the top 10 show, they will no longer have the same partner. Their partners for each routine will change, so while they may dance together (Will and Comfort) they also may not.

Babulah Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 01:56 PM EST

To B-Hud....the shirts were an inside joke between the 4 that wore them, according to the Wednesday night reviewer Adam B. Vary. There was a lot of speculation on that thread so he got to the bottom of it. He blogged about it on here under News/ popwatch blog.

B-Hud Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 01:43 PM EST

Maybe becuase I'm an underdog at heart... I'm really rooting for comfort! Hopefully being paired with Will will force her to bring her A-game. Yes, it may be too late, but I like her spirit (although her mugging borders on obnoxious)

By the way, does anyone know what those "IV" shirts were about that Will, Comfort, Twitch, and Josh wore last Thursday???

nadia Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 01:37 PM EST

Oh come on, I don't think Nigel is forcing Jessica off the tour!
The fact is, Jessica was emotionally (and obviously physically) not ready for this. Remember a couple of weeks when one of the judges alluded that she'd had several meltdowns the week before?

Look guys. We need to look past that the judges love Will. That is NOT HIS FAULT! He is a wonderful dancer, and was so sweet to Jessica. We need to vote for who has the most talent. End of story.

baby laura Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 01:29 PM EST

FACT: Jessica earned the tour spot.
any decision by Nigel to prevent this is just UBS that's utter! i know he wanted a hip hop babe on the tour, but this is just WRONG.

Karen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 01:10 PM EST

I know tonight's episode is based on voting on individuals but I REALLY hope that Comfort gets paired with Will !! And I hope they get a fast quick step routine by Tony Meredith !

Karen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

Also, I can't believe Mary or whoever it was said that they thought Comfort was the best hip hop dancer ever. Blah ! Personally, I think Donyelle from Season Two is a better hip hop dancer and plus, Donyelle did a great job with the other dance styles.

Karen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

Heather Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:46 PM EST

I don't like Comfort and I don't like Will!

Karen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:44 PM EST

I'm irked to see Comfort back on. She's a terrible dancer. I wasn't a fan of Jessica's but I prefer her over Comfort. As for Will, I think he's cocky and arrogent. I'm sick of the refernces to Debbie Allen because I can't stand her. Debbie Allen was a horrendous judge during Season 3. I think it was a huge mistake to kick off Jamie and Rayven at the very beginning. Kourtni and Matt should have been the first pair to go, and then Comfort and Chris.

nadia Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:42 PM EST

Look, what Mia said to Jessica wasn't classy, but it was true. Jessica always looked clunky up there-from the VERY first dance, when she and Will did the tango, I remember my mom saying "he's better than she is." She just didn't have the class or worldliness to make a good dancer. But Will on the other hand, is clearly the best dancer on the show. Although the other dancers are good, they come of as young amateur dancers with potential. But Will comes off like a professional, and most importantly, he is amazing at EVERY type of dance!! Twitch, while good at hip hop, is not NEARLY as good in other styles (his broadway dance the first week reminded me of high scool musicals, not in a good way).

jay Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:32 PM EST

By far the nicest body in the pack. But at least we still have my little angel Courtney...my hands shake just typing her name............

rachel Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:31 PM EST

DAMN

Kai Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:06 PM EST

Part of me wishes they would have brought back Thayne to spice things up. Then again, that smile of his was going from cute to creepy...

Kellan Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:04 PM EST

Since Comfort was going on the tour as an alternate, and is now back in the Top 10, will Kourtni be brought on tour as an alternate for Comfort? Sorry to see Jessica go out this week. I was hoping she'd break out from the shadow of Will and finally give a performance the judges couldn't refuse to praise. As for Comfort, I think her lack of technical training puts her far below the level of the remaining girls. I predict we say goodbye to her this week anyway.

Angie Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:57 AM EST

BTW, Jamie, Hok and Shauna all appeared at last year's tour stop in Secaucus, NJ. I agree top 10 are guaranteed - I think the others are invited based upon their popularity and if they have a 'signature' number. Location may have a factor, too - since I believe Shauna was based in the NYC area at the time.

Angie Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:55 AM EST

Of the 2, Jessica is the overall better dancer. She has better technique then Comfort. They both failed in the performance category IMO - I didn't feel as though they were moving freely and with joy in the movement. That doesn't mean they had to smile all the time, but rather you felt as their heart and soul were in the expression of the movements. Everything was too thought out, instead of just being natural. Thus, why Twitchington ended up in the bottom 3 last week, as well.

Babulah Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:26 AM EST

I'm confused....the big thing about Will is that he's Debbie Allens prodigy. On his bio page on Fox.com he says that he has not had any formal dance training...so what has Debbie Allen been doing for him..wouldn't that be considered formal training??

sara Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 11:03 AM EST

Will doesn't stand a chance for the sole reason that the judges have been pimping him so blatantly. They clearly want him to win, but they're not smart enough to realize that this is turning off the voters. big time.

Mark Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:56 AM EST

I am not a Jessica, fan but it's sad to see anyone have to drop out due to injury. Not a fan of Comfort either as I think the two of them should have been gone in the early stages. I still think people are forgetting that this isn't the search for America's Best Dance it's the Search for America's Favorite Dance. And that is why you will see Will probably drop int he bottom three. Is he a good dancer? Yes. Does he have the personality to appeal to the public? Probably not. America likes someone with a good persoanlity too, which give Twitch an upper hand there. He needs to Drop those dumb glasses though.

Lola Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

Someone may have mentioned this already...last year the top 10 went on the tour but also Hok and Jamie were there for the hummingbird dance, and either (or both) of them didn't make top 10. I think top ten guarantees them a slot. But it's wise to take extras just in case something like this - an injury - happens. Regardless, I'll bet $ Comfort is gone Thurs night.

Irish Queen Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 10:09 AM EST

Here's what really happened---Mia went after Chelsie (just like she said she would!) and Jessica saved Chelsie by leaping (rather gracefully, too, I might add) in between the two at the last second and got hurt that way. Ok, seriously, Jessica, get better quickly. No wonder there was something lacking in her dance. But she was still much, much better than Comfort.

Jenn Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:46 AM EST

"Yall are being way too hard on Comfort. Jessica wasn't amazing either and she was bound to go home this coming Thursday." -- I agree with this completely. People were voting for Will in that partnership and once they got split up it would've been over for her. I feel horrible for her and definitely wish her a speedy recovery, but I still think she would've been the next to go. It was a toss up between her and Comfort last week.

BA Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:28 AM EST

Everybody should stop hating on Will. Why should he get a backlash because the judges heap praise on him. I personally think the praise is well deserved, but if you don't, just don't vote for him. However, he's obviously a dedicated dancer and loves his craft(just like the other dancers on the show), so don't penalize him for someone else's actions.

DQ Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 09:07 AM EST

Jessica wasn't necessarily my favorite dancer, but I feel sorry for her that she had to leave the competition, and I thought the judges were ridiculously hard on her and ridiculously lavish in their over the top praise of Will. He is a great dancer, but he isn't a genius like they say. I seriously wonder if they are afraid to criticize him because of Debbie Allen, and I think he is going to suffer a backlash when America votes. It's like he is being rammed down our throats, and I thought he could have defended Jessica more the time Mia said he was carrying her.

Pete Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 07:05 AM EST

The doctors would not clear Jessica to dance. Eviently, she has been injured for some time and has pushed through the pain and tried to do as well as she could. I'm impressed that she did as well as she did. I probably liked her more than many other people appear to like her, but I felt that she might struggle compared to the other girls.

Hopefully, Jessica returns to health and is able to join the tour. While I am not a huge fan of Comfort's (she seems to struggle connecting with her partners and I have never seen her cheering on her partner before numerous solo dances), I think that she could learn and improve by dancing with more choreographers and partners. I still expect her to be sent home, but who knows what the voting public will decide?

JR Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 07:04 AM EST

JerseyGirl, I agree, I don't see anything in Will that's better than the other contestants. I think there is no question that the judges play favorites. This year, the judges have been all about themselves and not about the contestants anyway, although they seemed to tone that down slightly last week...maybe they are finally getting it.

JerseyGirl Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 06:44 AM EST

And as for Will, I don't think he's as amazing as the judges seem to. Danny is leagues beyond Will. Will gets special treatment because he is a student of Debbie Allen.

Meenakshi Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 04:03 AM EST

So did Jessica get injured during one of the times WILL DROPPED HER?

Lali Wed, Jul 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM EST

To hummingbird: I COMPLETELTY AGREE WITH YOU! Thank you. And yes, I think Comfort is not that good but honestly, the producers have to bring back the last person THEY kicked off, remember it wasn't an undeniable public vote but judges choice. Personally Chelsie Traille or even better Kourtni should be back but I totally get the beauracracy of bringing comfort back. I think she'll get voted off the next week or the week after.

karl Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

to say either comfort or jessica are aweful is rediculous. They are both very strong dancers. Comfort's last solo was great, with interesting floor work. Jessica is strong too.

hummingbird Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 11:25 PM EST

I'm surprised to see people saying Nigel was hard on Jessica and Mia was consistently tearing her down, b/c I loathe Jessica's dancing. I don't believe she deserved to even make the Top 20, but every week I was enraged at the judges kissing her ass and telling her what wonderful progress she was making. Only last week was Mia my hero by pointing out what I and my friends have been thinking since week 1: Jessica, if it wasn't for Will, you wouldn't have even made it as far as you did.

That doesn't mean I am happy Jessica's injured. I wanted her off, but certainly not like this. I wanted America to wake up and realize that she had wonderful technique, and absolutely nothing else to offer. Comfort is definitely not the best dancer on the show, but she is one of the contestants with a better personality. And I have had to remind myself time and time again as Jessica continued to progress: They're looking for America's FAVORITE dancer, not necessarily the best dancer.

Conspiracy Theorist Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 11:07 PM EST

Anyone ever see the movie or read the book "Misery?" I say Comfort "hobbled" Jessica so she could get back in the competition. Nigel gave her the sledgehammer and Mia held her legs. It all makes perfect sense!

pacific rose Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

Yeah Thayne would have been the more watchable choice to bring back. I'm not sad to see Jess gone but I am concerned that Comfort is going to drag one of the fav guys down...unless she and Twitch score hip hop and live to see another week.

OB Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:44 PM EST

they both should have been kicked off weeks ago.

bring back rayven and kourtni!

Sayard Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 09:10 PM EST

Please. Jessica is an incredible technical dancer, I will give her that... but she has no ability convey emotion or connect with an audience. She was the next girl to go anyway, and the judges were right in their critiques.

Allyson Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 09:09 PM EST

All I can say is DITTO almost everyone (didn't read all the comments). I didn't like Comfort. I don't think she was good in her own style. She's was entirely too stiff. She definitely isn't the best female hip hop dancer they've had on the show. I hope Jessica recovers fully and quickly. I wish they could have bought back Kourtni (however she spells it).

Heather Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 08:45 PM EST

I was getting pretty tired of the judges building up Will and putting Jessica down. She wasn't my favourite dancer, but she was getting better and she wasn't holding anyone back.
If the judges aren't careful they could get Will kicked off for being the teacher's pet.

chamlo Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 07:56 PM EST

Personally, I think they should have brought Thayne back. It would have been cool to see the choreography they would come up with for two men as a couple. Some of the best couples were two men: Benji and Travis, Neil and Danny. I think both AI and SYTUCD should get into the 21st century. If two men can marry (in Canada anyways!), then why can't two man dance on national TV?

To Jessica Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 07:36 PM EST

CHICKEN!!!

JerseyGirl Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 07:15 PM EST

I wish that they had brought back any of the other girls instead of Comfort. UGH seriously, I didn't even think she was that great at her own genre, let alone at all the choreography. Nigel irks me.

Meg Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 06:24 PM EST

As stated below, Jessica really is injured - she broke a few ribs a few weeks back and cannot dance anymore. Also, she WILL be back for the tour. Since Comfort and Thayne were previously invited on the tour after being booted off, it is not like Comfort would be taking Jessica's place anyway.

As for Comfort on the show, I don't really want to see her dance anymore either. It does, however, make the most sense because she was the last female kicked off.

Ismellarat Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

Wow Nigel has some 'splaining to do for sure. I really think jessica became too emotionally bruised to continue. nothing against Comfort, I think they both should be allowed to tour.

john Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 06:13 PM EST

I can't begin to understand why the judges were so hard on her. She was very good, certainly good enough for the top 10. Though I don't think she was a top contender to win, I enjoyed her work and admired her spirit. I would have buckled under the scrutiny of those judges who so clearly are pushing Will. To me, it will come down to Mark and Katie, and I think it would be REALLY wrong not to all ow her on the tour. Shame on you Nigel. You are not on the hot tamale train. BOO.

Andrew Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 06:08 PM EST

I am totally bummed that Comfort is comming back. She should have gone the first week. I hope that America votes her off where she should be.

Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

i can't believe that they're bringing back comfort. that sucks. after watching that sad excuse for a contemporary dance last week, i can't believe that she'll still be on the show. i don't even like to watch her do hip hop.

Mu-shoo Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:52 PM EST

Am I in the minority in actually liking Jessica? I rooted for her. Though I thought the judge's comments were unfairly harsh, I thought she handled them well and came back every week stronger and better for them. After Mia's nasty comment last week (directed at Will, not even to Jessica), I wouldn't be surprised if she had an emotional injury. Considering what these dancers go through week by week, it can't be easy to completely and unfairly lose the confidence of the judges and still provide a chin-up performance.

ljp Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:51 PM EST

sad that jessica is out of the competition, but even sadder and downright unfair is the fact that she's off the tour. i want to see the lyrical and contemporary dances she did with will. i don't want to see *any* of the dances comfort was in. i think they're hurting the tour by doing things this way. plus, jessica earned her place on the tour. comfort did not.

A Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:45 PM EST

Okay, Comfort was not "the best hip hopper" she was the ONLY hip hopper since the top group started competing. And she should have been gone two weeks ago. I'm really disappointed, and I'm not even a big Jessican fan.

jazzo Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:42 PM EST

Instead of everyone hating on Comfort, everyone should just take it for what it is. Comfort is good at what she does and like she said when the cut her the first time she's only been doing it for 2 yrs! I'm sorry to see Jessica go but it is wat it is. Plus the judges have their favs (even though they say they're not bias they def are. They're human) Yes Jessica is gone and its sad and unfair blah blah, but don't be like the judges and play favs. Vote for talent. Who knows Comfort may shock you and come back bigger and better then ever!!!

Allie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:35 PM EST

Yall are being way too hard on Comfort. Jessica wasn't amazing either and she was bound to go home this coming Thursday.

Steve in Cali Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

The truth could be something in between Jessica simply quitting and being too injured to continue. Once she made the Top Ten, Jessica might not have wanted to endure the pain of the injury an the judges harsh comments. If the doctors said the injury wasn't all that serious, Nigel may have viewed that as "quitting" and banned her from the tour as punishment. I'm sure they weren't happy about bringing Comfort back since she was dancing poorly, but had no other choice. Hard to believe they would use this situation to promote Wednesday's show since these are the two least popular dancers on the show.

Crystal Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:42 PM EST

I agree with everyone that Jess should still be on the tour, she earned it.

bruno Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

should have totally brought back the thayne...

PJ Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:24 PM EST

You've got to be kidding! Comfort's back?! We waited for to finally leave for a few weeks already! Yep, she'll be a place holder till Thursday night.

Tryp Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:13 PM EST

Please do not bring Comfort back!

K Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:02 PM EST

I was so glad that Comfort was gone and now I'm like...? She doesn't deserve to be in the top 10, they only brought her so they would have an even number.

Linda La Fountain Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 04:00 PM EST

In all honesty, Comfort should have gone weeks ago. I didn't even see that much talent in her hip hop!. Jessica clearly has beautiful technique & lovely lines. Her merit is supreme to Comfort's. The judges better be careful. The voting public is much more savvy than they realize. We can see thru their favoritism. Our dance eyes are highly trained, also. Ultimately, we will decide - who wins & if we continue to watch!!

chris Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

I would've loved to have seen Thayne back. Actually when Nigel said last week that they would rather eliminate 2 girls and keep all the guys, I thought, why not? Why not have a guy-guy couple? Just give 'em contemporary or hip hop or broadway or something. Didn't Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly dance together a ton back in the day? It's a shame they can't keep the best dancers regardless of gender.

L Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:53 PM EST

Oh, and also, she was dropped by Will, not Twitch but I don't know if that's what caused the injury.

L Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:52 PM EST

SPOILER: From someone at the show taping Mon. night, Jessica did announce that she had broken ribs, the doctor would not clear her to dance. She WILL be back for the tour

Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:46 PM EST

Jessica's injury is NOT fake!!!!! she broke her ribs because of a fall. she was dropped by twitch and her doctor did not let her continue. but she will be better by the tour.

Joanie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:43 PM EST

Nigel, just what are you thinking?
Comfort was good in hip hop, that's it! Have all of you been a little harsh on Jessica? Yes Indeedy! The appropriate and classy thing to do would have been to have Comfort fill in for the competition and let Jessica take her 10 Ten position on the tour!

arnold Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:10 PM EST

I think that if she recovers, Jessica should have been allowed to keep her earned spot on the tour. I don't think it's fair for Comfort to get both her spot on the show and in the tour. Nothing against Comfort, but frankly I'm tired of the judges treating Jessica like garbage week after week. She may not be as good as Will (though I'm just as sick of hearing the judges constantly kissing his butt), but Jessica has not been the worst dancer on the season this season by a long shot.

Stephanie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:05 PM EST

yeah, comfort is a good dancer...in Hip Hop. She's not well rounded at all. I can't stand to watch her dance because it looks fake. I wish that they would have figured out something different than to bring her back. I think that she will be one of the first ones to go home, if she doesn't go home thursday. They're are 9 other 9 other dancers on that show that are SO many levels above Comfort. She's good but only in hip hop. I'm not saying Jessica was at the same level as the other dancers, but she is way above Comfort. I will be sad to see Jessica go and Comfort come back, but as long as Courtney and Gev and Twitchington stay...I will continue to watch it.

Aleyha Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:02 PM EST

Comfort is aweful, and she is just okay in regard to her own style but the rest is horrible, it is a shame they did not bring back someone with more talent like Kourtni or Matt

Robin Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 01:53 PM EST

I wonder if Jessica's injury stems from the botched trick during the disco routine from a couple of weeks ago. She went down quite hard on her side, and I wouldn't be surprised if she did some serious damage to her ribcage.

The Question Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 01:29 PM EST

I smell conspiracy...

Miss Kay Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 01:21 PM EST

Why is everyone hating on Comfort. The girl can dance...she must have something if she made it to the show. Think about the comments the judges made. They praised Comfort and pretty much bashed Jessica. I do believe the judges were pretty rude to Jessica, but I'm happy Comfort gets a second chance. Maybe she'll have a new zest and put more into the competition. Comfort's performance two weeks ago was pretty good. Her solos are good too. Everyone is talking about her technique...she's a HIP HOP dancer. There's no need for lines and pointed toes in hip hop. It's hard for ballet dancers to loosen up for hip hop (that was made evident last week). I won't be surprised if Comfort leaves next week...but I still like her.

liz Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:40 PM EST

i do genuinely feel for jessica, but wonder why they would make the announcement so quickly about comfort replacing her on the tour.
comfort hanging on as long as she did (she's a solid hip hop dancer, but she looked awkward and uncomfortable doing everything else) isn't anything new. last season, cedric hung on for way too long, at the expense of some other better dancers (namely jesus).

Delboy Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:36 PM EST

It'll be interesting to see if Will continues to end up in the bottom 3 now - I'm getting really tired of the judges fawning over how wonderful contemporary dancers are (and the choreographers) and then being surprised that, more often than not, it lands the dancers in elimination territory. With a few exceptions, contemporary has always fared badly in the voting, and i wish they'd stop trying to force it down peoples' throats so much.
This year seems especially bad for having too many contemporary dancers over all, so I'm not particularly sorry to see Jessica go.

Hils Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:19 PM EST

Kourtni Lind deserved another shot, not Comfort. The judges have discretion--they used it to kick Kourtni out, and they should use it to bring her back. Comfort is great to watch when performing in her own genre, but Kourtni's technique is far better than Comfort's (or Jessica's, for that matter) and seeing what she could do with a partner like Will would have been a treat.

Martha Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 11:24 AM EST

Sorry, I meant the previous week when Matt and Kourtni were ousted.

Martha Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 11:24 AM EST

If Jessica's injury is real, then I wish her a speedy recovery. If it's manufactured by the producers, then it's a freakin' travesty. Comfort and Thayne should've been booted last week (sorry, Thayne lovers, but he's really not all that), and to bring Comfort back for both the show and the tour is unfortunate, at best.

Amy Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:55 AM EST

First of all... I agree with everyone who says that the judges were way too hard on Jessica. I would have loved to see her dancing out of Will shadow with another partner; but, alas, we will never know.
And second of all... Em, your line about the deer struggling to cross the road was priceless. :)

to Jenn Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:47 AM EST

We may not have to vote for Comfort but we do have to watch her again. And watch another solo, because she'll surely be in the bottom 3. And watch her disappointed face again. We've been through this already. It's not Comfort's fault. It's the judges for their ridiculous decision-making processes. If what "hbrie" says is true about this week's commercial, the producers (Nigel) appear to be CELEBRATING what has happened to Jessica. The whole thing smells dirty to me.

in response to Coach's Mistress Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:44 AM EST

The show has always been couples' routines - they're not going to change that now. And I don't think they'll ever do what many have suggested and do male-male routines or female-female routines. Not until the finale, anyway, like they always do.

hbrie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

Have you seen the new commercial for this week? It's "Jessica's Out" with a big red X, and "Comfort's back". Either the whole injury thing is made up (pretty likely), or SYTYCD is pretty heartless in using this as an advertising opportunity.

Jenn Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:25 AM EST

Comfort isn't the greatest dancer but people need to quit being so effing hard on her. It's not like SHE went in and gave Jessica an injury to get back into the competition herself. It's not HER fault she's back. It's not like she'll last anyways so people just need to chill out and vote for who they like and quit complaining about who they don't like.

Coach's Mistress Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:19 AM EST

Don't fret...Comfort will be gone by weeks end. And should have brought back Thayne. Actually, why did they think they needed to bring back anybody? If somebody gets hurt on Survivor they don't relight somebody's torch. stupid.

Jana Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:17 AM EST

In my opinion this decision is not about who they are bringing back but who is suddenly not continuing on...It was so apparent, (even to us middle aged non-dancers watching) that Jessica was a target for two of the judges. Will is an excellent dancer, but to constantly praise him and tear down his partner is CRUEL! Don't the judges realize that the public is going to react to their prejudice?

Dana Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:16 AM EST

I think Jessica decided to leave the show and I don't blame her after the way she has been treated. Mia is just a B**ch most of the time. SYTYCD just wanted to save face so they made up the injury, otherwise why wouldn't Jessica at least be going on the tour? Comfort is nothing special, I see tons of people who can dance better then her all the time. She should have been gone a long time ago, I wish they'd brought back someone with real talent like Kourtni. How sad will it be if they elliminate another girl who is there now with real talent and keep Comfort around even longer

TO AK Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:12 AM EST

AK, what were you watching? Comfort's solos suck she does the exact same thing everytime. She should have been gone weeks ago, I don't even think she deserved to be on the show in the first place.

angie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 10:03 AM EST

Maybe Jessica's pregnant...

Joy Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 09:53 AM EST

I find it quite convenient that suddenly Jessica has an injury so severe that she is not only unable to remain in the competition, but she will not join the others on tour. Riiight. Please, Nigel, don't be such a hypocrite! You ARE NOT sorry to see Jessica go, you and Mia have been kicking her out since day one. I like Comfort, but no way does she deserve to be in the Top Ten. Very unfair.

blondedancer8 Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 09:41 AM EST

I don't think Comfort deserves a spot in this competition and hasn't since week 1. She has done absolutely nothing to impress me. Her technique sucks, and her performances always bore me. How did she even make it past choreography when she tried out?? She is a disgrace to the show and those with actual talent.

Em Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 09:16 AM EST

So so sad to hear this. I wanted to see Jessica partner with someone else. Mia Michaels has been so weirdly obsessed with tearing her apart - I wanted to see what Jessica could do when she wasn't partnered with Will, who is great, no doubt. I don't envy any of his partners - the judges don't want anyone blocking their view of him.

Nothing personal against Comfort, but ugh, at this point watching her is like watching an injured deer struggle to cross the rest of the highway after being hit by a car - just inevitable and sad. She should've been out weeks ago. She seems nice, but out of her league, and totally aware of it.

I'm so sorry to see Jessica go.

bonnie Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 08:32 AM EST

I feelvery bad for Jessica, no dancer wants to go out due to an injury and Comfort's departure was indeed long over due. I'm not discounting her talents as a dancer, but every week she consistently wasn't putting herself out there, I saw no fire, no passion, no chemistry, I pretty much saw nothing. Hopefully her days are numbered and I wish Jessica a speedy recovery.

red Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 08:12 AM EST

i didnt really think that comfort should have gone home last week. i dont think that she brought thayne down or that he brought her down... i think they both just had the misfortune of not being one of the few most popular couples. jessica didnt seem like she could hold her own and i dont think she would have gotten that many votes is we were voting for individuals. comfort is really realy good at what she does and if you think about it, most of the routines she was in, including the group routines, she did really well. i hope she can bring it and prove that the show didnt make a mistake of bringing her back. as for jessica, i hope she recovers soon and can preform once again in the finale or on tour!

Mary Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 07:33 AM EST

Do we think that Jessica really has an injury? Kinda weird no? And the fact that she will not be on the summer tour? Especially since Comfort has the bad shoulder. I wonder if this is just the story to explain her being kicked out. Last week it was totally obvious that some people were being "pimped" just like on Nigel's other show AI.

Shel Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:55 AM EST

I am sad and disappointed about and for Jessica. I wish her a speedy recovery, though I have to say at least a small part of me is wondering if this is some face-saving strategy to mask the real reason for her exit. The girl has been unfairly abused all season, IMO, but specifically Mia was completely out-of-line with her comments last week. I wouldn't blame the girl if she didn't want to have a thing to do with any of them anymore. Now, on to Comfort. I feel for her, too, but I'm basically just disappointed: disappointed that she gets yet another shot at this, disappointed that she gets the prize of the tour, when I do think she had been long overdue to go home. She really doesn't deserve this. Here's hoping someone will spend the time trying to help her get up-to-speed with some additional training before the tour begins.

AK Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 02:00 AM EST

Comfort's elimination last week wasn't overdue, it was unfair. Her amazing solo proved she was still in it to win it. I can't wait to see her on Wednesday, and I hope she proves everybody wrong.

Dana Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:30 AM EST

Jessica was not one of my favorites, but I don't think she deserved as harsh ridicules as she received from the judges. As for Comfort, I agree that it only prolonged the agony for her, and she should be gone within a couple of weeks at most.

tex mex Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 11:25 PM EST

I agree with Your Mama!!

For the love of God, another week of mediocrity with Comfort. And I'm just really sad for the way things have gone for Jessica. What did she do to elicit such venom from the judges all along??

Your Mama Don't Dance Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 10:44 PM EST

Blah! I don't want to watch Comfort dance again. Thursday show will be totally boring watching Comfort go home again. This stinks.

Totally sad for Jessica. She wasn't terrible and doesn't deserve to go home like that. I am sure she will be on the tour.

JMO Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 09:53 PM EST

Wouldn't it be great if Comfort were partnered with Will? But the jidges will never let that happen. And they had to perform ballroom?

Jenn Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 09:21 PM EST

I don't mind Jessica being gone but I wish it were under different circumstances. She wouldn't have won and neither will Comfort. I give her two weeks, at the most. And while we're at it, can we just get rid of Will and bring back Thayne? I never cared for Jessica but I honestly think that they were blaming her for Will's shortcomings. His solos, amazing. But I never thought he was all that with his partner. He's got great stage presence and a killer body but I never thought his dancing was too special. But that's just me. Really, as long as Katee, Joshua, Mark, and Chelsie are the last four standing, I don't care who wins. It'll be one of those four.

Jessica Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 09:01 PM EST

I think they should get rid of Comfort(again), bring back Thayne, do away with Kherington and then we will have a show! The only reason Thayne was ever in danger was his partner(I refuse to even mention her name again) and her lack of ability to grasp a dance style different than her own... Can you tell I'm a little bummed that he's gone? He deserved to make it soooo much farther. Luckily, I still have Chelsie and Mark(the best couple of the season) and Twitch!

Suz Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 08:31 PM EST

Oh jeez I just can't take anymore Comfort!! She is so out of place in the top ten. I can't picture her helping the chances of anyone she's partnered with.

Say Say Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 08:13 PM EST

G listen to what the judges say he never said Comfort was the best breaker girl he sd best hip hop girl that he had seen. Why are people hating on comfort any true dancer can see that she is talented just when she wants to be primarily in group rutines not partners and yes her solos dont really make a statement but she has more heart and demonstrates more heart then quite a few of the contestatants especially jessica!!!

Nee Nee Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 08:06 PM EST

After the hard time the judges gave her, I wouldn't be surprised if she staged this just so that she could decide when she left before somebody else did. Poor girl. She wasn't bad. Sure, Will out-danced her most of the time, but she wasn't as bad as the judges made her out to be. Why in the world the judges were ever kind to Comfort, I have no idea. I swear she never bends her knees. At this point in the competition, she absolutely does not belong. She's a burden to everyone she partners with.

CJ Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 06:48 PM EST

I thought I was the ONLY one sick of hearing 'jidges' every bloody week. I would have preferred Thayne come back and let both girls go. It is just prolonging the hammer by one week.

nunya Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 06:45 PM EST

They should have brought back Chelsea Traille instead. She was cut way too soon and is a better and more versatile dancer than Comfort.

Angry Quinn Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 06:23 PM EST

This is BS! Comfort overstayed her welcome by 3 weeks! She has been in the bottom three consistently, and there is no reason she should be on the tour and not Jessica. Why in the hell do the 'judges' think she can dance? She can not! BRING BACK THAYNE! The only reason he was in the bottom three was because no one liked his partner Comfort!

G Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 06:15 PM EST

I'm disappointed Comfort gets another shot, but I doubt she'll advance any further in the competition. The public doesn't seem to like her so much, as evidenced on the PopWatch message boards. And saying that Comfort is the best female break dancer was way wrong on Nigel's part - Sarah from last season was overall the better dancer and the better breaker, as evidenced by her ability to connect with her partner, the audience and kick ass in any genre thrown her way.

And, FYI, Jess will probably get to go on the tour, as an "alternate."

orville Mon, Jul 1
