Getting psyched for 'Swing Vote'

Why I'm looking forward to Kevin Costner's latest flick, Swing Vote (trailer below), in theaters Aug. 1:

1. I missed Roy McAvoy, the lovable loser Costner plays in Tin Cup. Bud Johnson, the lovable loser he plays in Swing Vote, appears to be a cousin.
2. The odds are good that I'll witness the best "we, the people" political speech since the one Goldie Hawn delivered at the end of Protocol.
3. No one does sarcasm better than Stanley Tucci. (I'm so happy that he was available to reprise his role from Maid in Manhattan.)
4. Normally, I end up going to see Kevin Costner flicks by myself. But my birthday is July 31, which means some friends will cave.

Any other reasons to be stoked for this movie?

I am go glad to see Kevin Costner back on the big screen! I loved him in "Rumor Has It" and there is just something about him that make all his movies so lovable. I think he will carry the role of this "lovable loser" very well. This cast is jam packed, so I will surely be seeing this one!

I don't want to see a political movie! With the debates going on now, I'm sick of seeing stupidity when it comes to politics and this movie is all about stupidity, even though it does have a good cast. I think it's simply bad timing for this film to come out. As far as the band goes, I've heard the music and Kevin is not talented. His band members are, but Kevin can't sing or play so he's sort of pretending to be a rock star, which is embarassing to watch. The only reason he has any popularity with the band is because of his movie fans. At the beginning of the concert he did this huge video of all his films to pump the audience up. Talk about an ego. If you are a good musician you don't have to do a movie review. I did see Bruce Willis once and that guy rocks!

Hey, did you guys know Kevin has a band? I am not kidding - I have, in his words, "witnessed the music". Anytime someone starts their concert with a retrospective of their film roles, you know you're in for something awesome. And it was.

Mandi - I'd gladly go to Kevin Costner movies with you. I like Roy McAvoy/Bud Johnson/Denny Davies style Costner almost as much as I like Crash Davis/Ray Kinsella/Billy Chapel "baseball Costner"....the only Costner I don't like is Mariner/Postman "post-apocalyptic" Costner. You're on your own with that one.

(Seriously, I too am looking forward to this movie.)

I see ads all the time on tv for this movie. A lot of this movie was filmed in my hometown of Belen, New Mexico. And it was filmed entirely in the state.
