How can I go on without 'Twess-uh-may'?

Jul 3, 2008, 08:00 AM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: 'Project Runway', Fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion, Hell to the no!

Heidi_loreal_l Horror alert: The Weinstein Company is reportedly trying to squeeze $8 million out of L'Oréal Cosmetics so that they'll take over makeup and hair promotional privileges for seasons 6 and beyond of Project Runway. That's a little scary, but so is the thought of TRESemé dropping out! This could SEVERELY cut into how "current" I will seem when I walk around the office chirping my favorite TV catchphrase from my hairstylin' role model Heidi Klum: "Fuh-nished by Twess-uh-may [pause] Pwo-fessional Haiw Cawe." Oh well, I'll just keep saying it anyway! Everyone will be thrilled.

What stupid quote that couldn't possibly apply to the situation at hand do you annoy people with most often? The other top two in this office: ''Ant, aunt -- what's happening?!" (Michael Slezak, as Valerie Cherish), and a resounding "LEMME BORROW THAT TOP!" (Tanner Stransky, as Kelly).

HUGE news day!

In private my husband and I will use vulgar language and sayings from Deadwood. We just make each other laugh with the terms, phrases, and quotes from the show which I can't even put on this post because they are so bad. It is so funny because we would never say anything like that in front of other people. Friends, family, and co-workers think we are so innocent and they would be shocked and mortified to hear what comes out of our mouths. It's our little inside secret.

My daughter and I quote The Princess Bride--"Anybody want a peanut?" We also like to say "Cheese and crackers!" and "Pardon my French, but I'm P.O'd" from Andy Richter, P.I.

Becca Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 07:34 PM EST

i quote family guy, robot chicken, friends, & i love the "stop looking at me swan!" billy madison quote mentioned by amelia (props to u cuz u have the same name as one of my bffs & the same random personality!! yay lol) right now i think my fav quote is from fam. guy "PANCAKES! I WANT PANCAKES!! CLICK CLICK BLOODY CLICK PANCAKES!!!

Anjeliki Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Geez, I'm old. I still yell "I want my two dollars" at random times.

cme Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 04:18 PM EST

Whenever a particular friend of mine and I are waiting for someone, if someone comes by that we don't know, we'll say, "Now that ain't Dick Clark."

Danielle Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 03:57 PM EST

We quote "What the French, toast?" from an Orbit commercial. Does that count? My co-worker also quite often says "Welding, Chad" from a Lowe's commercial.

I like to throw out "For Narnia" at random moments and also, "that's what she said," from the Office

Lauren Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 01:48 PM EST

"What in the hey-ull?" or "yeah, man, I tell you what man, that dang ole Internet"--King of the Hill.

Whenever we hear about/attend a wedding, my family (huge Sixteen Candles fans) like to say, "Married? Mallied!" a la Jake Ryan and Long Duk Dong.

My roommate and I are huge Reno 911! fans, so we often quote our favorite character Terry--"OMG, that guy has a tornado!" or "The R stands for [singing] Terreeeeeeooooooo!"

"It tastes like turtles." -Bobby Hill, while sobbing

Amelia Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

I like to use "Stop looking at me, swan!" (from "Billy Madison") a lot when someone or something (like my dog) is staring at me. It cracks me up for some reason.

Strepsi Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 01:07 PM EST

The best all-purpose greeting or exit line is from America's Next Top Model: "Y'all are all b*tches!"

LL Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 01:06 PM EST

My boss and I do "shut it down" from 30 Rock all the time, and whenever my brother calls me, I answer with "hey brother" or "hey hermano" just like Buster. Lately my boyfriend and I have been saying "C'mon baby, you know you're my world" which is slightly paraphrased from Scrubs.

bonash Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

Dee, I'm with you on the AD quotes. At least 3 times a day I will pull out "Hey brother"

Dee Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 12:31 PM EST

1. Reserved only for the closest of friends, courtesy of 30 Rock: "Stop dressing like a small town lesbian."
2. Also from 30 Rock, when I do something really off-the-wall: "Who's crazier, me or Ann Curry?"
3. And a multitude of quotes from Arrested Development, including, "I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it", "Alias is a show about a spy", Tricks are something a whore does for money...or candy", Well, we're just blowing throw nap time", and of course, "There are dozens of us, DOZENS!"

Jelana Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 12:20 PM EST

Oh, and I'll shut up after this, I promise. We have an efficiency expert wandering around the office. I keep referring to him as "the Bobs." Gee, maybe with him scoping us out I shouldn't be posting a zillion times on popwatch......

Jelana Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 12:18 PM EST

Oh, and "these pretzels are making me thirsty" is a perennial favorite.

Jelana Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 12:17 PM EST

A crazy female supervisor of mine whom no one can please recently got engaged, so I've been tossing around "Bridezilla" a lot. Only behind her back, of course, I'm not completely without manners.

Darmini Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 09:27 AM EST

My new favorite, "Oi, who turned out the lights?" Proper Dave on Doctor Who, Forest of the Dead. I want it as a ringtone!

Kim Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 09:27 AM EST

"Is butter a carb?" from Mean Girls.

Jaclyn Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 09:16 AM EST

"I could play the oboe."
~ Mr. Heckles, from "Friends"

snarky Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

I've said it before, I'll say it a MILLION times - the best quotes are from 30 Rock: "hey, dummy" "I'm bored. This is boring." "I love it so much, I'm gonna take it out behind the middle school and get it pregnant!" I heart Liz lemon and Jackie boy.

Ceballos Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 08:59 AM EST

Everytime I finish doing a minor task at home (like folding the laundry, washing the dishes, making the bed), I'll occasionally slip in a "Cajun style", based on James Carville's appearance on "30 Rock."

I also enjoy annoying my girlfriend whenever she's in the kitchen making something (even cold cereal) by screaming "It's raw!" ala Gordon Ramsay in "Hell's Kitchen."

Finally, whenever my GF is particularly sassy, I'll say to her, "What's with the atti, Ms. Tude?" which is from...well, it's not really from anything. I made it up, and I'm trying to make it catch on (insert your own Mean Girls "Stop trying to make 'what's with the atti, Ms. Tude' happen" joke here). Anyway, my GF used it not too long ago, so I got at least one person.

Meghan Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 08:41 AM EST

Let's see...moving to Lifetime, moving the show to LA, producers gone, and now no more TRESemme? The show keeps going back and jumping the shark again, and it's making me very sad.

That said, whenever I go out I always annoy people with the Mean Girls quote, "Does this have alcohol in it?" "Oh no, sweetie, what kind of mother do you think I am? Why, did you want a little, because if you're gonna drink I'd rather you do it in the house."

Kathleen Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 08:40 AM EST

Ah! My boyfriend and I let loose with a random "Shoes" a la Kelly all the time.

Most of the catchphrases I use are Family Guy quotes, and thusly inappropriate to post on the P-dub blog. But a current fave is "I WANT A PRETZEL TOO!"
