Your Must List suggestions, please!

Jul 21, 2008, 05:45 PM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: Food and Drink, Must List, Television

Catfrosting_l My role model Cat Deeley's crazy-glam dresses on So You Think You Can Dance? top my Must List this week. Whether they're fabulous (like last week's Golden Ticket number, pictured) or tragicomic (remember the one that resembled a smattering of Hypercolor T-shirts?) they're consistently the most delightful non-dancing parts of each show. (The only delightful parts, actually. HOW are Nigel and Mary allowed to babble/scream for more than 15 seconds at a time?!)

A close runner-up is the latest trend concerning my favorite hobby, cupcaking: Frosting Shots. Yesssssssss. You heard me. FROSTING. SHOTS! Frosting shots! (Slow clap.)

Which three current trends/movie/TV/music/books/games/Web items belong on your Must List this week? Please include your e-mail address so that we can get in touch with you in case we decide to use your submission in the magazine. Deadline is 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, July 23, but why wait till the last minute? Share now!

"Chad, Matt & Rob" and their new series THE ALIBUYS!!! I saw them at Comic-Con and they just released a webseries this week called "The Alibuys." It's amazing. AMAZING. You can see them on their myspace page, myspac.com/chadmattandrob

semi precious weapons for president! OMG, if they actually make it on to the Must List...I'm gonna be so happy. And feel like I did something good:)

John Smith Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:12 PM EST

The Doctor Who season finale. So big, so suspenseful, so filled with guest stars. Surprise--the UK's top rated show. How about some love for The Doctor?

Gregory Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:25 PM EST

Feist's monstrous new version of "1,2,3,4" on Sesame Street, as seen on YouTube. Puppets sway, penguins pop out of doors. Never has the Number of the Day been so kitschy cool!

amy Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:07 AM EST

Semi Precious Weapons makes my heart do jumping jacks when I hear them...They rock me hard.

Kelly Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:55 PM EST

Thank you thank you thank you!!!!! If it weren't for this site I would not know about Semi Precious Weapons. I just heard them and love it!!!!!

Christina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:19 PM EST

1. Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, 2. the trailer for Watchmen (I haven't read the novel, nor am I really a fan of that genre, but the trailer is fantastic with a really good Smashing Pumpkins song), 3. The Soup and its double dose of hilariousness in the week, 4. the nominations for Dexter and Michael C. Hall for the Emmys

Deb Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Semi Precious Weapons are so fun. If you don't have fun at one of their shows then you are wound up too tight!

elena Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:13 PM EST

Already stated, but I have to agree.
Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog made me appreciate Neil Patrick Harris in a whole new way, and it solidified Joss as a master of musical comedy (and of course, tragedy. it wouldn't be Joss without tragedy)

David Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:54 PM EST

Semi Precious Weapons, Coffee from Porto Rico on 8th Street, and Vegan Donuts from Atlas Cafe.

Venus Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:44 PM EST

Semi Precious Weapons... hot!

steph Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:54 PM EST

Come on duncan. No need to be mean. We love spw. Its gonna be ok. Its not hurting you. If you don't like them, don't listen. But we effing love them! Justin is so beautiful it hurts my feelings.

Trina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

I LOVE SPW!! They F****** rock!!!

Duncan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:41 PM EST

Batman - one of the most surprising and brilliant movies I've seen in a long, long time.

btw, Semi Precious Weapons make terrible music. waste your money on their jewelry or whatever, but please stop encouraging them to be so edgy and raaaawking

Lans Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:52 PM EST

Semi Precious Weapons. Gloria Gaynor's got nothing on these disco divas. I'm in love.

Kath Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:25 PM EST

Patty, it wasn't exactly roping in when the creators had mentioned - explicitly - that it'd only be online for a few days.

Mike Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:46 PM EST

My 3:

- Lisa Garza on The Next Food Network Star. By the time you read this, she may have won or lost but she has shown the most poise and class of anyone this season. She has taken all of what the judges have suggested and made herself better. I would totally watch a show with her. She could be the next Martha!

- The Women of Flipping Out: Between Zoila's increasingly funny comments and Jenni's heartbreaking reaction to the split from her husband, the women on this show have kept me flipping out.

- Jesse McCartney's Leavin'. God I wanted to hate this song but darnit if it isn't a great catchy perfect summer pop song. Hints that there is more to this kid than we first thought. On the G5! G5!

Perry Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:45 PM EST

I 100% agree with the majority of the posts here. Semi Precious Weapons is where it's at. Pure in-your-face rock n' roll party. You must see them live. And...the lead singer has a gorgeous jewelry line named Fetty. You can see the jewels at Barneys.

Frenchette Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:14 PM EST

SEMI PRECIOUS WEAPONS demands your undivided attention!! They also rock better than most bands out there, and will entertain you 'live'. Get the word out and go see them if they play near you.

Jeffrey George Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

Semi-Precious Weapons is kinda the obvious choice - totally on the brink and no one's better

AJ Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

I guess I'm late to the party -- Semi Precious Weapons gets my vote as well. They're on the brink. They're absolutely FABULOUS.

Torin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:40 AM EST

The Watchmen trailer is amazing! Zack Snyder has done it again. I love how the movie looks bright and dark at the same time. He also has an amazing ability to select songs for his trailers that match perfectly with the tone of the scenes shown.

Buster Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:28 AM EST

Semi Precious Weapons get my vote. These boys are gorgeous, talented, and know how to rock a live show. Thier videos are amazing. Thier songs are fantastic. I love these guys. Perez Hilton loves them. Kate Moss loves them. You should love them too. really. And look for thier album which is out September 30th!!!

Mandy Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:24 AM EST

Semi-Preciouis Weapons are not only amazing musicians, but they are more attractive than anything ever. The End.

SPW is what this world is waiting for!

Moxie Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:43 AM EST

Thank you, thank you, thank you! For putting The Must List back up on EW.com!! And I don't know who these Semi-Precious Weapons are...but their bloggers have kinda turned me off of them. Not even interested in bothering to look'em up.

heather Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:42 AM EST

Semi Precious Weapons are the most amazing glam rock 'n' roll band. they have the best live shows and are the nicest guys. Plus there sexy as hell.

pirate Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

1)The cast of the Dark Knight(each actor delivered an amazing and believable performance, providing an intense 2 1/2 hour thrill ride without stopping once.)
2) Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Brian Z Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

I know there's love everywhere for The Dark Knight, but let's not forget how amazing Gary Oldman is in the picture. A genuine hopeful, inspiring presence from a man so thought of as a villain only actor.

alex Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:35 AM EST

Semi Precious Weapons.
These boys are not only the best looking people I have ever seen, they're incredibly talented. The BEST live show, the BEST videos, the BEST songs. They win at life.

MacKate Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:30 AM EST

Wow what has Semi Precious Weapons put in the water to get everyone gush over them? My 3 votes are for
1) Dr. Horrible: What a fantastic project! It was funny, sad and featured NPH! All week I have been singing at the top of my lungs with all the musically ability I can muster "with my freeze ray I will Stop the world!"
2)Viral Campaigning. It's truly all over the place. From Dark Knight to True Blood nothing is what it seems like anymore!
3) laineygossip.com A great take on gossip and celebrity that helps me through my work day!
4) Everyone else has added it so one more won't hurt Dark Knight What a fantastic movie that didn't have a weak moment, not even the 2.5hr running time!

Emmy P Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:26 AM EST

1) The Dark Knight
2) This fan-made kid trailer for "The Dark Knight" http://video.yahoo.com/watch/3096690/8812433
3) Coldplay's Viva La Vida album

Nix Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:00 AM EST

Anyone feeling a backlash building against Semi Precious Weapons yet?

I'm still on Generation Kill.

Patty Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:59 AM EST

I retract my Dr Horrible vote. I watched the first two parts for free online and now I find out I have to pay $1.99 to catch part three on iTunes. Way to rope me in, oops I won't be roped in - forget it.

Tabitha Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:47 AM EST

Semi-precious Weapons!! Randomly saw them during SXSW along with The Ringers. They were so sexy and great that I skipped out of work early to see them again the next day!!

Laura L. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:39 AM EST

1. The Middleman on ABCFamily
2. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimiore of the Rift for the DS

Annie! I read this blog all the time. Tonight I am on a few Semi Precious Weapons message boards, and all the fans are talking how SPW should be on this list! I was like...duh...why didn't I think of that sooner! So Semi Precious Weapons! Put them on the MUST list on your blog and in the mag! And Heath as the joker too:)

Shandra Jade Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:47 AM EST

Wait...not might.

the saviors of rock... real rock, and the most gorgeous being you will ever see... EVER!

Emily Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:23 AM EST

Semi-Precious Weapons is an inredibly bitchin' band from New York. Their live shows are amazing, and I make sure to get front and center, leaning up against the stage, each time I see them perform. They truly care and love their fans as well. Plus, their frontman, Justin Tranter, is incredibly gorgeous in 4 inch stiletto metallic boots.

Keyton Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:19 AM EST

I love Semi Precious Weapons. You should too. If you don't, you suck. The end.

Raven_Moon Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 12:16 AM EST

1) Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog-Hilarious, Clever, & Tragic.
2) The Dark Knight-Heath Ledger's Joker is amazing & the film is in a league of it's own. It's what comic book films should aspire to be.
3) Burn Notice--Summer TV is worth watching again.

Brandon Norman Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 10:32 PM EST

Nathan Fillion in Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. He is just perfect as the full of himself superhero, who you just can't help but root against.

The Dark Knight is just incredible. From the opening bank robbery scene to the tragic yet hopeful final scene, this movie is as close to perfect as I can imagine.

Mad Men

Alli Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 09:06 PM EST

Dr.Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog was a highlight of my week (I haven't seen The Dark Knight yet). Joss Whedon is a genius. Can the Dollhouse premiere just get here already?

Coach's Mistress Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 08:58 PM EST

Revisiting ABBA songs thanks to Mama Mia! Man, I loved those Swedes back in the day, and I'm lovin' them again.

Scotty B. Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 08:39 PM EST

Dr. Horrible, fo' sho', and the Watchmen trailer.

And the IMAX presentation of "The Dark Knight." The exterior shots of Gotham and the already mind-blowing action sequences look absolutely stunning projected beyond the normal 2.35:1 ratio, into the full scope of IMAX.

Matthew Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 08:33 PM EST

1. Sure, I'll ring in with a vote for Heath Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight too.
2. Unshelved. The library comic strip on the Web makes reading .. well, it was always cool, but now it's coolER.
3. Serial Drama. This sarcastic soap opera commentary site is a haven for frustrated daytime drama fans.

Rob Grizzly Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 08:18 PM EST

Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight. Must. Must. Must.

Crystal Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 07:08 PM EST

I am the only one who thought the inset meant that Cat's dress looked like the cupcake (look at the wrapper and the bottom of the skirt!!)?

Must List...hell, I'll 2nd, 3rd? Cat and her awesomeness

Martha Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 06:49 PM EST

1) I second Cat Deeley and her split personality wardrobe. Makes the beginning of the show more exciting.
2) "The Watchmen" trailer, for all the artistic slo-mo scenes of pretty people engaging in mayhem and mass destruction.
3) Versus coverage of the Tour de France, because Phil Liggett's commentary absolutely rocks, even if he doesn't wear crazy spangled dresses.

Mike Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 06:41 PM EST

"The Turnaround" by George Pelecanos. Masterful new novel from the guy that EW's own Stephen King called "perhaps the greatest living American crime writer."

must list website: livingoprah.com

this woman is living one whole year - she started on January 1 - as "Oprah prescribes on her show, website, books and magazines." she is trying to figure out if doing what Oprah says for one whole year if she will be able to "live her best life." it's crazy insane and addicting. she's blogging every day about her assignments, tasks, feelings, etc. you can go back and read it from the beginning. certainly worth checking out.

Krista Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 05:26 PM EST

Semi Precious Weapons. I love them. I read about them on Perez Hilton like 2 weeks ago. They are fun, filthy and gorgeous! Yeah rockNroll is back, and looks really hot. Me and my two roommates go to their myspace page like 5 times a day. They put me in their top friends! WOOHOO. Trust me...you will love them. Their album comes out Sept 30th. Mad Men. Is there anything else?

Or Maggie in The Dark Knight who redeems Rachel Dawes from bad acting doom in the first Nolan flick.

Ashley Mon, Jul 21, 2008 at 04:52 PM EST

If you have not seen the Dark Knight, stop what you are doing and see the reason why I would not call this a mere "Superhero" movie.
