Would you see 'Dark Knight' a second time?

Jul 22, 2008, 10:57 AM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: 'The Dark Knight', Film

Darkknight_bale_l According to a Fandango.com poll conducted this weekend, 64 percent of people who saw The Dark Knight would see it again in the theater, making it even more impossible for the rest of us to see it just once. THANKS A LOT.

The movie I saw the most in a theater was American Beauty. I was a freshman in college and terrified that I wouldn't make any friends, so I just kept saying yes to new people who wanted to go. (Um, there was a Ground Round right next to the theater and we inexplicably went there, too.) I think I saw it four times, maybe seven. Since 1999, I've spoken to those movie companions zero times, yet almost always watch part or all of American Beauty when it's on HBO even though I'm sick of it by now. Priorities, I guess. You know what those dorm mates would say to me today? "It's okay, Annie. I wouldn't remember me either." JK people!

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand: Would you go to see The Dark Knight again, already? And which other movies have you repeat-theater'ed? (Oh, and if you haven't read Benjamin Svetkey's recent EW feature on the current box-office champ, by all means click here.)

I've seen it 5 times now and it gets better every time I see it. Heath Ledger did an OUTSTANDING job as the Joker! It's too bad that this movie was the first and last movie he will do as that character. Cillian Murphy was funny just by saying "not MY diagnosis" and Hans Zimmer's score is superb!

Tarra Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 04:24 PM EST

Yeah so I've seen it three times now, once a week scince the week it came out. And one included being front row for IMAX at mid-night cause we got there late.

Navi Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 10:26 AM EST

I've seen it 6 times, going on 7 tonight. I love how they've tied Arkham Asylum into the recent movies, and although I'm more into the comics than the movies, seeing the Joker is like personality therapy for me, so I anticipate more showings for me in the future. =]

Ang Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 11:09 PM EST

Awesome movie, but once is enough for me. i'll save my money for the 3rd batman

O'Rion Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 04:20 AM EST

Wow, I am amazed at how many people love this movie. I thought there were so many things wrong with it that I wish I had not even seen it the first time (plot holes, scenes talked about but not shown, Batman's voice, stupid reasons for having Batman's sonar, horrible half built building fight scenes with SWAT and henchman and hostages, etc.). I would definitely not see this movie again.

DALTON Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 09:53 PM EST

IHAVE TO WOTCHIT 1 BE FOR I SAY ENYTHANG

Leo Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:26 AM EST

I NEVER watch movies multiple times in the theatres. In fact I usually wait till they hit the dollar theatre or Redbox to even watch movies I'm excited about. I can't think of any that I paid full price to see more than once. The Dark Knight was one of the few that I paid full price to see, and I WILL DEFINENTLY WATCH IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES IN THE THEATRES!!!!!!!!!!!!

nia Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 11:03 PM EST

I would absolutely see the Dark Knight again, and have already caught it twice. One of the first things I did after seeing it the first time was ask when my friends would be going again... then checked who else I knew that hadnt seen it yet, and promptly dragged them to the Imax within a few days. The only other movie I had seen twice in theatres was Transformers, and somewhat reluctantly since there wasnt as much substance to soak in and enjoy. This was an entirely different experience, the Dark Knight was thoroughly exhilarating, inspiring, and a tribute to the hard work and vision of the artists both in front of and behind the cameras. I would see it 5 times or more if I could haul enough people out there with me. Each aspect of the film, from performances to script to sound design .. the list just goes on... they were all so well executed that they require multiple viewings to really appreciate. TDK like a symphony in movie format ... and it was incredible.

Tara Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 10:04 PM EST

HELL YEAH!!!! Me and my brother were still inching our way down the steps to get out of the theater when we saw it on opening day and I was already telling him I wanted to see it again.

Carlos Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 09:07 PM EST

I seen it 4 times already (1 time in IMAX, the other times in regular theatres) I am gonna see it an ADDITIONAL time tonight...this will be my fifth. The movie is like a roller coaster.

Kim Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 01:50 PM EST

i LOVE this movie!! i have seen it 4 times now, and i want to keep goin to the theater. this was definitely the best batman movie i have seen in a long time. and i think it would be really cool if heath ledger gets an oscar for playing the joker.

wiener Fri, Jul 25, 2008 at 12:32 AM EST

i loved it, its probably the best movie iv seen
its amazing
ill defnitely see it again
rip heath ledger ill never forget you

Michael Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:41 PM EST

I would definately go see the Dark Knight a second time. I did see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone... 4 times i think in theaters. Counting a drive-in. That's the most time's 've ever seen a movie (in theaters) before.

Jeffrey Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:41 AM EST

Ben: if you're still on here sometime, have you ever read "Dracula"? If not, do so. It'll seriously change your opinion of Francis Ford Coppola's hack-job movie.

Jeffrey Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

To a: re Buckaroo Bonzai, I'm sure something else, ah, smokey, was involved? Just remembered that I saw "Seven" six times in the theatre. I wanted to see it seven times, with seven different people, but by the time I'd seen it six times, I couldn't find anyone else who hadn't already seen it.

Jeffrey Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:33 AM EST

Matt: it's hard to believe anyone on the planet liked Big Fish enough to see it twice in the theatre. My wife and I saw Titanic 3 times tho. We actually went to see Titanic for the third time and L.A. Confidential for the second time on the same day, to make our final decisions on Oscars before our annual party with a betting pool. It was plain when seeing them back-to-back that Titanic was a more overwhelming theatrical experience and would win. For the same reason The Dark Knight is a monster smash: it's an overwhelming theatrical experience. Credit Christopher Nolan for that. Also a script that's way, way better than "Batman Begins".

Jeffrey Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:30 AM EST

I would definitely see it again in the theatre if the opportunity arose, but it probably won't. It was well worth it to pay the $10.50 (plus popcorn and soda) twice.

Mike Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 08:08 AM EST

First time ever i have seen a film twice in the same day, the first time was too much, i needed to digest the film and then watch it again, i enjoyed it as much the second time, I'm going for my fourth view in a week or so:-) Yes kids, it's that good!

Josh Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:34 AM EST

phantom menace - 5 times
attack of the clones - 5 times
dark knight - 2 times (more to come)
no country... - 2 times
golden compass - 1 time, and I regret it.
WALL-E - 3 times

I may see Dark Knight one more time, but I want to look forward to the DVD. So I'm debating

Marc Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 02:19 AM EST

I don't remember when the last time I saw the same movie twice in the theater and no movie is worth paying $10 to see again...Except this one! If I get the opportunity I will see it again. I don't think I can wait until it comes out on DVD.

Matt Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

I've only seen dark knight once, but I'm dying to see it at least once more in theaters

Cici Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:19 PM EST

YES!!!!! I cannot wait. I wanted to see it again after I got out of my showing. It is the BEST movie of the summer.

JJ Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:41 PM EST

Hell to the yes, I will be seeing it again and again. Ledger....amazing. Bale...yum. Eckhart...awesome. Gyllenhaal...heartbreaking. I loved it and thought it was brilliant. And watching it in IMAX was the best.

Aaron Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:38 PM EST

dl Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:02 PM EST

Just saw Dark Knight. Thought it was way too long and lost momentum at the end. The movie could have easily ended much earlier. Heath was great about three quarters thru the movie then it seemed even he got bored with his character. Too many story lines. I won't be seeing it a second time.

Jessica Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:53 PM EST

I just returned from my second viewing of Dark Knight and it's better the second time around:) Still plan on hitting up and IMAX showing as well...

Harvey Dent Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:39 PM EST

I saw it 2wice and i'm going to see it again and again. Never have a I seen a movie more than once.

Mandy Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:56 PM EST

I've already seen it twice and I'm going for a third time this weekend to see it at the IMAX. The last movie I saw multiple times was Titanic.

rusty Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:17 PM EST

christian bale is the best batman and i will see it again about 4 times straight and i hop he does it again he's better than michael keaton val kilmer and george clooney put together so thats my coment about the best movie ever made

Pye Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:09 PM EST

You guys are all nuts!

How can you pay to see a movie twice?!?!?

Nesha Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:27 PM EST

I have my schedule cleared so that I can see The Dark Knight every weekend for the next month -- and I've already seen it twice. I've seen several movies more than once in theaters over the years, but never more than three times. But, for whatever reason, Being John Malkovich was the exception - I saw it five times in theaters. And to this day, every time I watch it, it's still as funny and freaky and weird as it was the first time.

Dr. No Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

I saw Gigli 8 times, and Battlefield Earth 7 times. These were both suicide attempts, luckily I survived and doing much better now.

a Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:02 PM EST

The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai. I think I saw it in the theatre around 12 times... this is before videos were very common... for some reason, my then-boyfriend and me latched on to the movie and would go see it whenever we were bored. Yeah, I know....

RedAngel Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 03:47 PM EST

I'm waiting to see The Dark Knight a FIRST time, since I expect it'll stay crowded at my local theatre for awhile. But as far as theatre repeats, I saw the first Lord of the Rings 6 times, American Beauty 5 times, and second LOTR 3 times. As another poster said, they all just worked out that way. None of it was ever planned.

Gre Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 03:41 PM EST

The last movie I saw more than 3 times in the theater was THE PHANTOM MENACE. Yep, it took me that many times to realize it sucked. I saw SPEED a record 8 times in theaters, not so much because I loved it, but rather because various friends who hadn't seen it yet chose to when I was hanging with them!

Michelle Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

As soon as TDK was over my friend and I agreed that we have to see it again. We saw it in IMAX but had bad seats, so we thought we might go back during the day in a few weeks when everyone's back in school. Heath Ledger was so kickass, and Christian Bale is personally my favorite Batman (though his raspy voice made my throat hurt). There is too much in this film to get it all the first time; I think repeat viewings are a must, and I needed time to let it all soak in between viewings. I think I have only seen two films more than once in theaters; Titanic (2) and Liar, Liar (2). Both I saw once with friends and then with a date. I would really like to see TDK once more in IMAX and then in a regular theater, but I'm a poor grad student and that would be like 40 bucks just for tickets (and the nearest IMAX is probably 80 miles away).

Amanda Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

I have already seen The Dark Knight twice, and I intend to see it again. In fact, I may break my record of four times for this movie and see it five times, just because its so cool.

Ray Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:23 PM EST

I've already seen it twice (once in Imax and once standard) and will go see it at least once more for sure. I'll often see movies I really like twice (I saw Iron Man 3 times -- yep, obviously a comics fan), and the Dark Knight was amazing, so I'll be back for sure.

bugman Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

I've been a Batman fan since I could first read a comic book (or at least look at the pictures) back in the mid-60's. Seen it all & this is, by far, the most awesome Batman rendition. Ledger's Joker is now the definitive Joker on screen (and off, if you ask me) - hands down. Makes all the previous incarnations look ridiculous & weak - even Nicholson's.

I've seen Dark Knight 3 times so far & will probably see it at least once more on the big screen. The only movie I've ever seen more than twice (again, big screen) is the 1st Indiana Jones film (7).

I read that Nicholson warned Heath Ledger about the Joker character getting into his head. Well, Heath's Joker is now in my head, and I'm okay with that. Crazy excellent!

Kinka Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:04 PM EST

I think this was the best movie I have ever seen. I will probably go see it again at least another two or three times. I saw Return of the King 3 times in the theaters which I think is my all time high.

Colin Farley Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:27 PM EST

I have already seen this movie twice in theaters, and I highly recommend those who aren't considering seeing it twice to see it twice. There are so many things about it that you miss the first time, and it's just a fantastic movie regardless.

Jess Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:14 PM EST

As soon as I get the chance I am going again. Excellent movie, great acting, and very suspensful. Loved every minute of it, and bravo to Heath Ledger on an outstanding performance as the joker.

Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:01 PM EST

I repeat-theater'ed LotR: Return of the King, The Holiday, and American Pie.

Kasia Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:59 PM EST

I will see it again. I saw it on IMAX first so probably will see it on a regular screen. I am a person that rarely sees movies in a theatre twice due to the cost but this one is absolutely worth seeing on the big screen again. Plus, Heath Ledger's performance was so mesmerizing I feel like I will like to experience it again on the big screen.

Jager Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:46 PM EST

Definitely will see it again... I went opening day to IMAX, and while that is an amazing experience, seeing it on a slightly smaller screen will probably allow you to catch subtleties that were missed on a screen the size of a building. (I saw "Empire Strikes Back" about 80 times in the theater, however I delivered papers to them and they let me in for free :> )

Krista Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

Loved the movie - one of the best this year, by far! However, I won't be seeing it again . . . I found it hard to watch Heath Ledger. Got all choked up several times!

Hanson Jackson Hanson Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

Does anything think that Heath Ledger's performance was better than this?

Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:28 PM EST

THE DARK KNIGHT BEST FN MOVIE EVER MADE NO WAY TOPPIN IT

HRodgers Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:21 PM EST

I saw it twice opening day (with two different sets of people) and I plan on seeing it again this Thursday. That will break my own personal record of how many times I've seen a movie in a theater before (I saw Return of the King twice when it came out).

KB Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

No chance I will see that again in the theater. Its a great movie overall, but too long, poorly paced, badly edited and very tiring. Easily the most exhausting movie theater experience I've ever had. I very much enjoyed it but I also left feeling beaten down, and I have no interest in going again. Its not really all that visually appealing anyway, there is not a single action scene that I need to watch again. When it comes out on HBO, I'll fast forward and rewatch all the fantastic Joker scenes again. Thats about it.

TexFan Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:52 AM EST

Will I see it again? I already DID see it again, and I'll own the video when it comes out! This was the best movie so far this summer, and I loved Ironman!

Ian Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:49 AM EST

Hell no. Between 2 movie tickets, popcorn, and drinks; going to the movies is like a 50 dollar night (not including dinner).

Ryan Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:43 AM EST

I will not see it again.

The Dark Knight is overratted, too long and disapointing that Chicago was used as Gotham.

Rae Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:30 AM EST

I'll see it again for sure.

The only movies I usually see multiple times are Pixar films. I've seen WALL*E 3 times so far and certainly will go again if I get the chance!

Matthew Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:25 AM EST

Heck yes I'm going again, but like others have said, I'm going to do IMAX this time. The movies I saw the most in the theater were Star Wars Phantom Menace and Moulin Rouge, each 6 times.

Manny Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:15 AM EST

Yes, I will see it again but on the Imax. I saw the first Mission Impossible 3 times, MI:2 and MI 3 twice. I really love those movies. Heat (2), The Bourne Identity and Supremacy twice. I only got a chance to see Ultimatum once. Apollo 13 and Braveheart twice. I got caught up in Titanic and saw it 3 times. I was single, lonely, bored--it was a rough time. Lol. On the Waterfront I've seen twice (both special showings of course).

Kelly Wirth Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 11:13 AM EST

I would definitely see it again!
Great movie, wonderful acting...

MJ Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:59 AM EST

Still haven't seen TDK yet; I want to go in the IMAX, but my nearest one is an hour and a half away. As for the films I've seen multiple times in the theater:

E.T.-3 times (only one I've seen more than twice)
The Muppets Take Manhattan (what do you expect, I was 9)
Ghostbusters
Mannequin (hey, I was 12, and Kim Cattrall was never hotter)
Batman Returns
Wedding Crashers

Maegan Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:57 AM EST

Saw all LOTR movies twice, X-Men 2 twice, and Batman Begins twice. Saw Dark Knight opening day in IMAX and will definitely see it again in IMAX.

Lauren Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:49 AM EST

I've seen TDK twice already, plan on going again.
I saw Lord of the Rings: Return of the King 5 times, once on Christmas.
The Two Towers: 3 times
Spiderman 3: 3 times in two days, which was unfortunate because I didn't like it the first time and I hated it more and more.
Spiderman 2: 2 times
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: 3 times
Oh and of course,
Batman Begins: 2 times
I've seen a lot of other movies more than once at the theater. My dad likes going to the IMAX too, so +1.

My sister saw Titanic a whopping 13 times at the theater. I'm pretty sure half of these times were when she was skipping school.

bn

cantuse Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:20 AM EST

You people who expect all comic book films to be light, fluffy entertainment are the real insult to the medium. Comics have always been one of the most relevant allegories about social ills (the story of the Comic Code, etc). It's like saying Georgia O'Keefe only painted flowers. If you can't handle grim stories disconnected from the Joseph Campbell 'hero journey'; please continue to bury your head in the sand; just don't insult the art form or the people who struggle to survive AND express themselves through comics.

EMF Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:20 AM EST

I will see Dark Knight again at an I-Max theatre.

Back to the Future - 2
Seven - 2
Titanic - 2
There's Something About Mary - 2
Gone With the Wind - 3

David Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:08 AM EST

I saw both Enemy of the State and Godzilla (the Matthew Broderick version) twice on consecutive weekends, Jersey Girl on consecutive days and Wedding Crashers twice in one day!

Matchkitjohn Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:03 AM EST

Seen DK twice already. Maybe two more views.
Purple Rain - 4
Iron Man - 4
Incredible Hulk - 3
Spider-man 2 - 4
Spider-man 1 - 3

Yes I am geek.

Lance Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:55 AM EST

eh, I'll see it on dvd a second time. That way I can fast forward through the sloppy plot and boring exposition. It's just not $9.00 good. It did not live up to the hype for me. For the record Heath was good, but not Oscar good.

Rebecca Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:49 AM EST

I've already seen it twice (once at the midnight showing and once at IMAX) and will probably go again this weekend.

Jill Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:45 AM EST

I've seen The Dark Knight twice, and I'll go again soon. The movie I saw the most in the theater was TITANIC. 12 times.

Adam Smith Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 09:34 AM EST

Already saw The Dark Knight twice (midnight showing and Sunday afternoon with the parents). Planning on seeing it again whenever I get the chance. I'm thinking at least 3 theatrical viewings in all (par for the course for movies I really REALLY like).

Other movies that have gotten multiple views:
Anchorman (5, twice in a row one night)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (5)
Closer (4)
Mean Girls (3)
Spider-Man 2 (3)
Star Wars: Episode III (3)

And that's just in recent memory.

Deena Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:58 AM EST

Definitely more than once. I am going for a second viewing tonight (in IMAX this time) and will probably go for a third before it leaves theatres. After that, I'll probably see it a million times when it's on DVD. Can't get enough of it.

Auyon Roy Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:56 AM EST

I have just finished watching TDK 4 times. Safe to say i will wait for the DVD for the next watch.

liz Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:39 AM EST

Of course I saw Titanic like 6 times... it's not my fault I was in middle school and every girls birthday party that year involved a trip to the theater! Others that I have spent waaay too much money on recently were- Brokeback Mountain (4) Forgetting Sarah Marshall (3) and Garden State (I'm going to go with 6 on this one but I may have lost count along the way) and yes I would see the dark knight again as well!

Lori Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 08:08 AM EST

Yes, I already saw it last friday night but I plan on seeing it again at the IMAX theater!

fowak Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:46 AM EST

Well, my brother saw it four times opening day... he's a little crazy.

As for me, I would see it againa nd plan to. I think it was great the first go round. But it was also midnight, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more next time.

As for movies I've seen in multiples... I'd seen Pearl Harbor 5 times in the theater. But then I saw Hairspray and cannot describe to you the love I have for that movie and *had* to see it more times than Pearl Harbor because I love it waaaaay more. Therefore, Hairspray hold my records with 6 theater viewings.

Wendy Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:40 AM EST

I wouldn't mind seeing it again but that movie was the best batman ever.

Ricky Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:39 AM EST

i've seen it twice already and will probably go again. I was equally into it both times. Fantastic!

krikky Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:39 AM EST

I saw There Will Be Blood 8 times in the theater. Can't even bring myself to watch it on DVD or BluRay, because I'm afraid it won't live up to its power on the big screen...

M Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:30 AM EST

While it's a masterfully made movie, I don't think I'd enjoy it quite as much a second time . . . what made this the rare thrilling sequel was its sense of dread that built up right to the very end. You wouldn't feel quite that same grip watching it again.

jess Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:28 AM EST

YES!!! that movie was fantastic!

GG Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:14 AM EST

I saw it on IMAX this past weekend, and will see it on the regular screen this weekend!

donny Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:14 AM EST

i love the bit where the clown fish finds his father again and the sharks were brilliant I loved the turtles

Allison Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 07:10 AM EST

The Dark Knight was a great movie but I will not see it again in the theater I will buy it on dvd for the same price as admission and own it!

As for repeat viewing I saw Titanic 7 times in the theater, whatever I was young and obsessed and movie tickets were $5...

KarenM Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:55 AM EST

Saw it on the weekend, seeing it again tonight.............

BLU Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:48 AM EST

I plan on seeing it again very soon in the theater.

I normally don't see movies more than once at the theater, but I did see the following: Transformers x 3 and
Best Little Whorehouse in Texas x 2.

Jim Jenkins Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:46 AM EST

Last movie I saw twice was BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN because it was so amazing and the performances were just jaw droppingly wonderful. Same goes for BATMAN--it's so intense and filled with details that I felt overwhelmed by the whole story and characters. It's well worth a second look for all the nuances you miss the first time around!

Andrea Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:43 AM EST

I just saw Batman last night (gotta love cheapie Tuesday admission!) and I do plan on going again because my mom wants to see it. Other movies that I've seen more than once: Gladiator (3 times), 300 (twice) and Return of the King (3 times).

loser/nerd Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 06:20 AM EST

seen it 3 times

Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 05:28 AM EST

i have seen it 3 times twice on friday at the midnight and with my fat friend and last night

nini Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 05:12 AM EST

I saw it Saturday afternoon. My boyfriend and I had to sit on the front row, so I will go and see it again this weekend.
I saw Pretty Woman 5 times when it first came out.

Dee Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:45 AM EST

I saw it thurs, early fri @ 12:01 and Sat night at 7:30pm. I saw Batman Begins twice, opening day and the day after...I have even bought the DVD twice, once orig, once w/ special features....I love this take on Batman, it so real and dark and everthing Batman should be and waht draws me to him....LOVED IT!!!

alison Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:31 AM EST

ironically i also saw American Beauty 3 times in the movie theatre; there was very else good out at the time and it just sort of happened
I would definitley see Batman again, it was fun and entertaining and a great release from reality.

chiara Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:30 AM EST

of course I want to see it again and again. Hum hold on a sec, I think I already saw it 3x so far ^^ how was that? I am going to see it again tonite for the 4th time. It's just getting better and better!

To "Don't Care": Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 04:13 AM EST

I wouldn't call you skeptical...just flat-out wrong. Hype is one thing - usually it's manufactured by the studios, and once the actual product arrives, it doesn't deliver and the mania dies down. But prolonged buzz/word-of-mouth, even after the movie has been released and people have seen it multiple times, should clue you in to the fact that maybe the Dark Knight & Ledger aren't just getting sympathy raves. OF COURSE there's more attention for this movie because it contains a talented young actor's last performance before his untimely death, but that doesn't mean the movie's unanimous praise (from critics and audiences) should be automatically invalidated. There was a ton of buzz for Heath Ledger's performance even before he died, and his performance still exceeded my expectations - it was absolutely riveting and terrifying. If you want to miss out on one of the most iconic portrayals of villainy in modern cinema (and it really is) just to rebel against hype, then it's your loss.

PW Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 03:38 AM EST

yes, and did so last night after seeing it first at a midnight showing last week. and it was better the second time around!

Brian Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:40 AM EST

I wasn't able to see it on IMAX at midnight so I'd like to go again...

Stanley Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:25 AM EST

Yes I would see it again. I hear Clues in TDK show what may be Batman next Villain:Lung Disease
http://hidensneek.com/2008/07/23/the-dysfunctional-knight/

l.nicole Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:24 AM EST

i'll probably see it again, maybe two more times, it's that good of a film. i think i've seen three or four movies twice in a theatre. - L

Chris Price Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:22 AM EST

I've seen Dark Knight twice already, and I'm going to IMAX again on Thursday. I'm pretty sure I'm going again after this weekend also when my drummer gets back in town. But this is typical for me. Here's a list of movies I saw in the theater more than once....this year:

Dark Knight (2)
Wall-E (3)
Pineapple Express (3 advance screenings, its a classic btw)
Iron Man (2)
Speed Racer (2)
Semi Pro (2)
The Foot Fist Way (2)
Get Smart (2)
Kung Fu Panda (2)
The Incredible Hulk (2)
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2)

winston Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:19 AM EST

i saw WALL-E 4 times...i loved it!

Ashleigh Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 02:17 AM EST

I saw Titanic (gulp) 6 times in the theater. BUT, in my defense, I only paid for three times, and one of those three was at a 2nd run theater with $1 showings. The other three times I had friends who wanted to see it, and when I said I'd seen it already, they agreed to pay for my ticket so they didn't have to go by themselves.

I will see Dark Knight again, but probably when it gets to the discount/$1 theater.

newsky Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:54 AM EST

I would definitely see it again. I feel like I missed a few things. So much going on.

I saw Moulin Rouge in the theatre a number of times. I also recall seeing Beauty and the Beast over and over when I was little. :)

don'tcare Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:31 AM EST

I have no desire to see it even once. Thanks anyhow. Call me skeptical, but if Ledger hadn't died would there be even half the hype? Somehow, I doubt it.

joseph Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:29 AM EST

Dreamgirls. I went to see Dreamgirls four times. (Twice in those over-the-top sold-out preview shows in NYC).

rr Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:26 AM EST

I've seen it twice all ready (A friend wanted to see it... I couldn't deprive her of seeing it!) Both theaters were completely packed, even the early Sunday afternoon showing. Very few movies are worth seeing again in theaters ... The Dark Knight is one of them.

No Joke Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 01:01 AM EST

An exciting movie, even though it made little sense by the end. I would see it again to determine how the Joker (who doesn't like making plans) "wanted to get caught" and hence flipped a truck upside down, and then escaped uninjured from jail and in a few hours was able to wire hospitals and ships for explosions and take hundreds of hostages.

Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:53 AM EST

I saw it today. (Tuesday.)
I WOUDL SEE IT AGAIN 239746 times.

kristen Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:38 AM EST

I've seen the Dark Knight once already and im trying so hard to see it in imax but every time i go to buy ticket they're sold out. so now im buying them for next week. i can not wait to see it.
I saw Star Wars Episode 3 eight times in the theater but i only paid for it 7 times. I also saw Lord of the Rings Return of the King three times in the theater, thats a lot of time spent in the movies. I've seen a lot of movies multiple times in the theater. Superbad, Iron Man and Harry potter being at the top with Star Wars and LOTR.

kristen Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:38 AM EST

LizetM Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:06 AM EST

I wish I could see it on IMAX, that'd be awesome. I'm poor, so going to the movies more than once is pushing it ... but hopefully I will get to see it again before they get it ready for the DVD (wish won't be for a very long time, I'm sure). The next movie I'm saving my money for is XF2. :)

I saw LOTR:ROTK 3 times at the theaters. Yeah, not fantastic, but like I said, I'm poor.

Adam Dreyfuss Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:04 AM EST

Just saw it at the IMAX in Chicago (the home theatre of the world premiere) and I'll say I will DEFINATELY see it again in theatres (this comin from a guy who sees about 10 movies a year in theatres). I also go to see the Lawrence of Arabia of year in theatres for years

xt1213 Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 12:01 AM EST

Multiple viewings of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Lion King- too many times to count!

Annie B. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:56 PM EST

To "joe mama" -- my hair already is blonde. But maybe I'll bleach it a step further. You can never be too sure. Thank you SO MUCH for the awesome writing tips!

Clayton Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:50 PM EST

I saw Dark Knight twice its opening day (midnight showing and 9:00 pm, with Mamma Mia! in between). I will see it at least once more. I've seen WALL-E four times, will see it at least once more. Sweeney Todd 5 times, Return of the King and Corpse Bride 4 times. Two Towers and Dead Man's Chest (twice opening day) three times, maybe some others as well. Two times=too many to count. I think when a movie is really good, it deserves to be seen on the big screen multiple times.

David Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:49 PM EST

Anchorman 3 times in a week (better every time).

Charlie and the chocolate factory three times.

Karlo Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:42 PM EST

Saw it once already. I'm planning to see it two or three more times. And when the DVD comes out, I'll go get me a copy. I'll also download from the internet, just for the heck of it. I keep telling people who haven't seen it yet to go watch it NOW; and if they're only going to watch one movie this year, then this should be it. (Saw Terminator 2 and The Matrix about four or five times each on the big screen; I have DVDs of those, as well.)

drakan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:34 PM EST

You need to see it at least once. :D I'm going out to a drive-in to see it tomorrow, after seeing the screening last tuesday.

See it again. That's all I can say.

Christina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:34 PM EST

I've seen The Dark Knight twice (the midnight showing and again Saturday night) and will probably see it at least two more times. It's that amazing.

I usually see movies I like twice, but saw Mulan and Harry Potter 4 three times. I was planning to see No Country for Old Men three times in theaters but with NYC prices being $12, I decided to see other movies on my list at the time. But I've watched it multiple times on DVD so I made up for it.

Gabby Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:24 PM EST

I've seen it once with some friends, but I'm going again tomorrow with my dad, who's excited about it (and usually my father NEVER takes the time to actually see a movie at the theater).
Last film I saw in the theater twice was the Bourne Ultimatum...usually I just go once.

DB Cooper Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:20 PM EST

Hm, the movie I saw most in theatres is every movie I've ever seen because I have never done the repeat viewing and will never do it.

Julie Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:14 PM EST

If I could freakin' get in to see the Dark Knight ONCE I'd be happy. I saw Dazed and Confused at least 3 times. Ahh, high school.

JasonHomey Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:11 PM EST

I have seen many movies in the theater repeated times, but showing off my star wars dorkism, they were all star wars movies. The movie i have seen the most in theaters is the original star wars at about 7-8 times thanks to reissues. I am definitely seeing dark knight in the theater again and thats saying something for a guy with kids who can hardly get away to see movies anymore. I want to see it on imax at my local theater.

Janitor Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 11:06 PM EST

I'm an avid 28 year old movie-goer, and have never seen a movie more than once at the theater...until now. Thanks to a buddy who scored FREE tickets (off whysoserious.com), I attended the advanced screening the Tuesday before Dark Knight actually opened, then saw it again Sunday with my girlfriend. I've already ordered tickets for another IMAX showing with another friend this Saturday.
You SHOULD watch it again, trust me. You'll catch some subtle things the second time around ie. At Harvey's fund raiser party, Bruce Wayne steps out to the balcony and tosses his champagne without drinking it. Later when Joker crashes the party, he tosses his champagne, drinking from an empty glass. Boo-yah! *symbolism*

Tyler Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:58 PM EST

Already watched it twice, planning on a third trip this week, awesome movie!

Tom Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:57 PM EST

Saw it a second time yesterday. it was great, again! of the friend i was with we were all seeing to for the second time. except my other who was seeing it for the third

Marc Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:47 PM EST

I saw it twice in a regular theater.

Then i saw it another time in Imax.

Movies ive watched the most:
The Departed-3
No Country For Old Men-2
Lord of the Rings III-6

Indiana jones Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:40 PM EST

yes,it is awsome

Marina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:40 PM EST

If I had the money, I'd go see it way more than two times. But yes, I'm going to see it again tomorrow.

Max Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:38 PM EST

yes

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:09 PM EST

I'm not sure that I've ever gone back to see a movie a second time in the theater...but I went back for seconds of The Dark Knight. It was well worth it.
Delicious.

Liz M. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 10:06 PM EST

I have already seen The Dark Knight twice and still think it was wonderful. I have been known to see movies 3 times in theaters if love them those include Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, Atonement, Harry Potter 5, and Hairspray. But I do not think I will see The Dark Knight a third time because it was so intense I do not think I could handle it again for a while. Oh and the craziest Muti watching a movie in a theater i've ever done was I saw harry potter 4 two days in a row and I say Hairspray twice in the same day, with different people of course.

Laura Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:42 PM EST

Matrix - 9
Moulin Rouge - 9
Pirates of the Caribbean - 7
Sweeney Todd - 5

Yeah... I go to the movies a lot and many times over... this is only a partial list of repeaters

joe mama Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:25 PM EST

Annie, You spoke of yourself in the first person (I, I'm, I've and me{what, no my?}) thirteen times by my counting, once in the second tense, and all in the same paragraph. Did you fill out a bunch of cereal box tops to get your movie reviewer's permit? Either knock off the self-centered bull, or bleach your hair and get a new career. You write like an 11-year-old.

Sarah Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:22 PM EST

I saw Dark Knight twice.. on the same day! I went to the midnight (which was incredible.. so much better when you have crazy fans everywhere.. especially in costume:) ) plus another showing.. amazing movie!! and i'm going again this week.. IMAX :O i'm excited.

matt Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:19 PM EST

I watched it twice. i have watched others 2 or three times. but in general i cant watch movies as many times anymore i get bored next movie please plus if i kept watching the same movies over in addition to watching new ones i would have no life

Crystal Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:11 PM EST

I'm very much a sucker for repeat viewings of visually stunning movies on the big screen. The most I've hit was ten times, with Moulin Rouge.

I loved TDK - it hit all the right Batman moments for me, I didn't think it was too long, and I thought the dark tone was perfect.

But I think it kind of broke me. I spent two days in a depressed funk, and I don't know if I can watch it again. Does anyone else feel that way?

truman311 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:05 PM EST

I saw Chicago four times in a theater. The goal was five, but I didn't make it.

benny Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 09:01 PM EST

Sadly i've seen it only once, but i plan a visit to the imax this week , and then see it with my friend in florida next week so that will be 3 so far unless i find anyone else who needs a buddy to see it.

i'm not a repeat viewer at all:
last time was Brokeback mountain (also a heath knockout performance ) 4 times i think.
Everything else i kinda get the point first time around.

Rachel Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:52 PM EST

I saw the Dark Knight Wednesday morning in IMAX and it was amazing! Since then I've seen it 4 times all in IMAX (I work in a movie theatre) My record is 15 times for Revenge of the Sith

Lou Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:45 PM EST

oh i saw ironman 3 times this year. and ill probably go see TDK again!!!

lostfanboy16 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:45 PM EST

I saw it twiced already. It was an amazing film. It deserves all the praise it's getting. Other movies I have seen more then once in Theaters

Wall E-3
Juno-3
No Country for Old Men-2
There Will Be Blood-2
All LOTR movies-3

Lou Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:41 PM EST

yea i saw the first showing midnight, and i went again on sunday. its better the second time you go. the only other movie i can remember going and seeing more than once was Good Will Hunting. I saw that one like 3 times. I just loved it.

Amber Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:37 PM EST

Titanic = 5 times in the theater.
Have yet to see it again in its entirety.
I was 16 and my best friend was in love with Leonardo Dicaprio.

Kris Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

I will definately see it again. It comes to IMAX here on August 29th and I know the fam and I will see it then...The only question is, will I have to go see it by myself to tide myself over til then answer...probably)! :-)

As to the second question, my all time theater going movie champ is Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl...I saw it 8 times. My only solace, my mom saw it 7 times!

Colin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:28 PM EST

Sorry, already saw it twice opening weekend. Once on Friday and once on Sunday.

smackay Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:24 PM EST

I also saw it twice opening weekend. (My wife is out of town; I got time to kill.) It's a better film the second time as one can appreciate the trail that the Nolans lay out as the film reaches a plot twist where you know comic book movies will never be the same again. It's a stunning piece of work; who knew a Batman film could serve as commentary to our war on terrorists who use religion as a cover for their own sick Death Wish. And Ledger: watch him once here, and be stunned at his bottomless talent. Watch him twice here, and be heartbroken over our loss.

david Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:20 PM EST

the dark knight is one of those movies you kind of, HAVE to see it again if for nothing else than heath ledger's brillant performance.

other movies i have seen multiple times:
POTC: curse of the black pearl=4
LOTR: return of the king=4
SW: revenge of the sith=3
Superbad=3

shotgunrider Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:09 PM EST

Seen it twice and it was even BETTER the second time around. Going again Thursday night with some friends that haven't been yet and I can't wait! I get this indescribable feeling after watching this movie that no other movie has ever made me experience...I love it!

The ONLY other movie I've seen this many times in the theaters was Superbad. I saw that puppy four times and it just got funnier each time I went.

The Joker & McLovin....my FAVORITE on screen characters to come out of the movie theaters in a LOOOOOOOOOONG time!!

filmprinz Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 08:06 PM EST

I saw it for the second time last night and plan several more visits to further analyse Ledger's performance which was effortlessly electric. Also on the second trip I found that the story's two ending segments were weaker than first 85% of the film, which was so could it was miraculous. There was a problem in the theater with the sound as it was difficult to hear some of the dialogue, which inexplicably had to compete with the painfully loud swelling of the music.
I also plan to see Hancock again, just to see the conclusion, one that was frankly better than the end of the Dark Knight.

bakerboy Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:59 PM EST

I plan on going to see The DK several times in the theatre. Local Imax theatres (there are 4-5 in Toronto) are sold out for the entire week. I plan to see it in IMAX and if I enjoy it as much as I did the first time, I will go back. So far this year I have repeated movies having seen Iron Man and Horton Hears a Who twice. I think SW: A New Hope is the movie I have seen in theatres, followed by Die Hard (6 times that summer) and I think BattleStar Galactica ( I stayed in the theatre and watched it 3 times in one day, and then I dragged my mother and brothers to go see it).
Those are the ones that stick out in my mind, but I do know that I repeated Iron Giant, Mulan, and regretfully the first Harry Potter.

Mari Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:46 PM EST

No.

I've seen WALL-E three times though. And I saw Shrek 4 times.

Fier Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:45 PM EST

I've seen it twice now, and I'm going to see it again on IMAX this Friday.

Other movies I've seen more than once in theaters:

PotC: Curse of the Black Pearl - 3
LotR: Return of the King - 3
LotR: The Two Towers - 3
HP: Order of the Phoenix

Batman Begins - 2
PotC: Dead Man's Chest - 2
HP: Prisoner of Azkaban - 2
HP: Goblet of Fire - 2
Brokeback Mountain - 2
SW: Revenge of the Sith - 2

...but I'm just that kind of person.

marc Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:42 PM EST

Just got back from seeing it the 2nd time and i plan on going a few more times. other movies i've seen multiple times in theaters: old school, jackass 1 & 2, pirates 1,2,&3 and walk hard. i can't think of the others right now

Mia Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:22 PM EST

Yes, will see Dark Knight again!
Personal record for repeat viewings of a movie in a theater is 5. The movie: Mulan. One of the kids(when they were little) was kind of afraid of going to the movie theater for films and for some reason, she was OK with this one. Figured we'd desensitize her by seeing this a few more times, and it worked.

scorpio9094 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:14 PM EST

I haven't seen it yet, but will be going sometime this week. My record is ten times for James Bond "Diamonds Are Forever".

namar Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:12 PM EST

I Was at the MIDNIGHT SHOW!

and i'm seeing it again with my brother in about an hour and a half

Dixie Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:10 PM EST

Definitely...I plan to see it as many times as I can! Next time I'm going alone, b/c I kept "shhing" the people I went with until they were ready to kill me. It's the only movie I've ever sat completely silent through. Before TDK, my record for seeing a movie most times in the theater was "Beauty and the Beast" 3 times. I may well break that record now.

Jennilee Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:01 PM EST

I've seen it twice already. I plan to see it in IMAX tomorrow. I can't seem to get enough of the Joker.

The only other movie I've seen more than once in theatres was Little Miss Sunshine.

Drayton Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 07:00 PM EST

I saw it at the midnight showing, then last night. I'm up for at least 3 more viewings. I've seen the following movies more than once just this year: National Treasure 2, No Country for Old Men, Juno, Indiana Jones, Nim's Island, 21, Horton Hears a Who and Wall-E.

Chris Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:51 PM EST

to add...i've seen Wall-e twice this year, No Country for Old Men twice, and Cloverfield 3 times...but usually I'm not a repeat moviegoer so that says a lot for this year's crop of films

Chris Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:49 PM EST

i've seen it twice (once at the midnight showings on thursday with all the bat-loonies) and i already have IMAX tickets reserved for Friday. and probably i'll go one time after that. it's that good.

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:42 PM EST

I think I went to Enchanted with 3 different dates.

AL Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:31 PM EST

YEP,WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN. CHECK OUT THE BLUE RAY EDITION OF BATMAN BEGINS AT BEST BUY. IT HAS THE SIX MINUTE OPENING SEQUENCE OF THE BANK ROBBERY THAT WAS FILMED IN IMAX AND SHOWN IN THE FORMAT BEFORE I AM LEGEND IN DECEMBER.

Kisha Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:29 PM EST

I have seen the Dark Knight once so far .It is such a great moviewith so much detail it warrants repeat viewing .I am seeing in IMAX later this week and maybe one more time after that . The most I have seen a movie in theaters I'm somewhat shamed to type is 8 ! The movie was Star Wars Episode 3 :revenge of the Sith .I am somewhat ashamed to admit that .

kim in kentucky Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:26 PM EST

def want to see it again -- but I'm wanting/hoping for an extended version on dvd - you could tell there were scenes deleted that could add to the story

Cecilia Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:22 PM EST

I've seen it twice, and I'll probably go again when it hits the dollar theaters. Best movie ever!

Erin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

I just saw Dark Knight last night. I might see it again if some friends want to, but I'd love to see it in imax if i do see it again. My record is 5 times in the theater for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix though if Half Blood Prince is as good as Phoenix was I might have to try to top it because I loved that book.

Cris Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:11 PM EST

Are you joking? HaHaHa...YES!

Christina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:11 PM EST

The film was amazing, and I've been thinking about it a lot since seeing it, especially Heath's performance as the Joker. I feel I need to see it again because I was so stunned the first time around. I hope to go again this weekend. I very rarely see a film more than once in the theater, but this film is very special.

Jessica Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:10 PM EST

Reading other comments I was reminded of how many times I saw Elf(4) and Pirates of the Caribbean(7!). With Elf, it's just such a feel good movie that I made several groups of friends and my family see it with me-and they all loved it! The reason for Pirates should be obvious: Johnny and Orlando making with the funny! That one is definitely my record-although two or three of the showings were free(again, gotta love those job perks)

bryce Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:07 PM EST

i might see it again b/c it was good but i have seen the strangers 3 times

katrina Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:05 PM EST

i am totally going to see it again!! it is the best film ive seen this summer i loves it!! heath ledger was fantastic, he made me love the joker and he had so many great lines, i loved it, im totally going to see it again!! oh and the movie i went to see the most in theaters was the first pirates of the carribean, which i saw 4 times! i dunno about seeing this one that many times but i really really wanna see it again!!

Nathan Poitras Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:02 PM EST

I'm definitely going again, gotta see it on the IMAX screen. The two movies I've seen the most in theaters are Jurassic Park and Rushmore, 6 times each. Though several of those viewings were at a second run theater.

Ike Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:00 PM EST

Definitely am going to see it again although the pencil trick obviously won't be as good as the first time! Saw POTC DMC about six times. Actually didn't like it the first time but after a couple more, I kept getting better.

Kelly bergin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 06:00 PM EST

I saw it on Friday night and Sunday night. As a woman who saw Sex and the City at midnight, I found the film to be suprisingly...awesome. I've seen it twice and will probably see it a third time!

Jessica Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:55 PM EST

I am seeing it for the second time tomorrow afternoon and possibly again this weekend! I worked at a movie theater for nearly three years so there were a lot of repeat viewings. The ones that stick out most in my mind are Phantom of the Opera, Return of the King, Alfie(What? I'm shallow and Jude is soooooo pretty), Sin City, and the Kill Bill movies. Of course, those were mostly free so the only movies I've paid multiple times to see were Hairspray, Casino Royale, and The Exorcist(during its anniversary re-release). Now, Dark Knight makes the cut. I still have to watch it in IMAX, too...

I've already seen The Dark Knight 3 times and will definitely be back for more... although I'm a regular repeater... so far this summer, movies that are on my multiple time list are: Iron Man, Speed Racer, Indiana Jones, Incredible Hulk, Get Smart and Wall*E...I expect Step Brother, Mummy 3, Pinapple Express and Tropic Thunder (which I've already seen once!) to be added to that list as well.

Bob Hanson Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:47 PM EST

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT A THIRD TIME!!!!

The Dark Knight is an amazing film. Gonna hit it up on IMAX again too!

Jacqueline Alvarez Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:22 PM EST

Going to see it again this Friday. Absolutely amazing. Got to see it for free actually because it shut off twice and skipped parts when I watched it the first time. I also saw the Star Wars Attack of the Clones about 4-5 times because of free tickets because of some cereal promotion. Got sick of it the third time, but it was FREE!!!! Ahhh... magic word!

pisces19 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:22 PM EST

I'd definitely go see it in the theatre again! But then, I see lots of movies in the theatre more than once. My record is Interview with the Vampire, though. I think I saw it in the theatre like 15 times. I worked at the theatre because of that movie, actually. My first job. Thank you Neil Jordan!

Annie B. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:14 PM EST

Daniel -- Yep, I did go to BC! I'm supremely jealous of the people there now, if the old Ground Round is really an Applebee's. I'm totally serious. I could eat their oriental chicken salad for every meal (fried, not grilled).

Kayla Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:14 PM EST

I already seen it once and I plan to go two more times!!! It's just so awesome!

Other movies I saw at least twice in theatres include: Pirates 3, Harry Potter 5, LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, Blood Diamond, and Transformers...

anna Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:13 PM EST

I would also like to see it again, but this time at an IMAX, but since I live far from one, it'll have to be in a regular theater I guess.

elena Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 05:05 PM EST

I definetly would see The Dark Knight. It takes two viewings: one time for Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker, and another time for all the cool comic book nods (especially to The Long Halloween, which I found a ton of parallels to) and Christian Bale kicking ass and taking names as The Batman.

I think I saw Juno at least three times. And two of those times were opening day and then the day after opening day. That movie never lost its charm; there was always new, snappy dialogue to absorb and laugh at, and the supreme cuteness of Michael Cera.

donner Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:53 PM EST

i had the same 'repeat viewing' experience with Braveheart (5 times in one week), Pulp Fiction (4 times in one week)...everytime someone said "Oh, I haven't seen that and I want to go, will you go with me?", I said 'sure'...I still haven't seen Dark Knight, tho...its my turn!

Jonathan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:49 PM EST

Saw the dark knight yesterday, loved it except for the ending. I would probably go see it again in a cheap theater a couple months from now after getting my fill of comedies (Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder) in August. At the full price, though, not gonna happen. I watched each installment of Kill Bill three times apiece in theaters. Made my friends hate me by constantly suggested going back to see it again, but it was worth it.

Amanda Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:49 PM EST

I saw it Friday night and Saturday afternoon and I'm going again tonight! I'm sure that won't be the last time either. The movie is flippin' amazing.

Jeff Kovalik Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:46 PM EST

I have seen the Dark Knight twice already. It's the only movie I have ever seen twice in "New" theaters. I did see South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut 3 times but it was always in a "Second" run theatre. Dark Knight is great, I want to go again.

Carleric Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:46 PM EST

Slacko, the phrase is "fair to middling," not midland.

harry Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

Prince Caspian

Shannon Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:44 PM EST

I already saw TDK twice and I'm seeing it again tonight..sad I know. I believe I saw Hairspray seven times..I just love musicals. I saw Enchanted five times, Harry Potter four times..I like seeing a good movie over and over again if I can help it.

Justin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:43 PM EST

I saw my two favorite childhood films, Jurassic Park and The Nightmare Before Christmas, three and two times respectively. And speaking of superheros, I saw the original Spider-man 3 times the summer it opened. (What? It was good.) And yes, I'll be back for The Dark Knight, too.

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:43 PM EST

i will absolutely see it again!

Daniel Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:33 PM EST

OMG, Annie, you totally went to BC, right? If you're talking about the same movie theater / Ground Round that I (and E. Berman, who, strangely enough, I think I know, too!) am thinking of, that is. (I was just at that Ground Round -- now an Applebees, but essentially the same thing -- yesterday!) Can't say I like the Circle Cinema, though. ;)

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:31 PM EST

Spider-man

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:30 PM EST

Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Enchanted.

Kelly Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

I think the only movie I have seen in the theater multiple times was "Titanic". I remember seeing it before Christmas and then a bunch of us girls who had celebrated New Years Eve together, all put on our sweatpants and went to the matinee showing on New Years Day. I think that was my Senior year in high school. Yeah, that's right. But I will see The Dark Knight again in the theater...it was THAT good for me and Heath was nothing short of brilliant.

danielmichael8 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

already have seen it twice.. third time will be in the IMAX

Sandy Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

Just saw it for the first time yesterday and... wow. I'm sure I'll end up seeing it again if only because my mom wants to go and my dad won't go with her. I saw Disney's "Aladdin" six times in the theatre and "Jerry Maquire" five times. Most recently, I saw "Iron Man" twice....

James T. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

I saw it twice the first weekend. I was part of the reason it made $158 mil. This is the best movie since the Lord of the Rings. (I may see it one more time).

M Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:19 PM EST

seen it twice already...great film

best of 08 thus far..

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:18 PM EST

already have.....

Martin Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:14 PM EST

want to see it for the second time. By my book it's the greatest comic book movie of all time!

ossie Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:11 PM EST

Going to see it again next weekend. I've never seen a movie twice in the theatre's before, this will be my first time doing so.

t3hdow Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:07 PM EST

I definitely plan to see TDK a second time, preferably in IMAX, though that might have to wait until next weekend (have to go out of town and plan to see Wanted with my brother anyway). It's not often that I want to rewatch a film in theaters the instant it's over, but TDK did it for me. I also watched Iron Man three times, but more out of going with a different party of people each time. I don't regret it though, since I appreciated it more the second and third viewings.
P.S. Jeff, you're reading too much into Annie's statement. Ease up, man. Also, Slacko, it's fine if you didn't get into TDK, but don't demean the rest of us for enjoying it. I wasn't a big fan of Spiderman 2 either, but I didn't deride everybody else for loving that either.

MindyM Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

I saw The Dark Knight last Sunday and I plan on seeing it again this Saturday. I have not been able to get it out of my mind, or Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. I definitely think a movie like this deserves more than one viewing. Things seemed to go by so fast that I felt as though my senses couldn't keep up with the pace. So much was happening all at once and I was emotionally and physically exhausted when it was over.

I know that I have to see Heath's Joker again. I feel that this performance reveals more each time you see it. Some of his dialogue was so brilliant and incredible. This is a performance for the ages and one that I want to treasure and cherish and see as much as possible. What a wonderful last gift from a magnificent actor.

As far as the question of what other movies I have seen more than once, I can't think of any. I am not one to go to repeat viewings of movies unless they are truly extraordinary. This is one of those movies.

Johnny Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

I will see it again on IMAX.
Other movies more than once...
Star Wars episode III

Christopher Hickey Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

This movie was such a stunning masterwork of cinema...it's ridiculous. I saw it Friday night in IMAX, and then again the following night at a normal (but still digital) theater.

My record for repeat viewings is with "Hannibal", 6 times (in my opinion, one of the most underrated films ever)...I definitely plan on breaking that record with "The Dark Knight". :-)

sebastien Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:02 PM EST

I would totally again. It will be hard to find a better movie this year when considering performances, direction, visual effects, art direction and story. It totally blew me away (the guy who hates most big summer blockbusters).
As for movies I've seen more than once in theaters? Interview With The Vampire, Million Dollar Baby, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill vol 1 AND 2, Grindhouse, Hairspray, The Talented Mr Ripley and The English Patient.

Raven_Moon Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 04:01 PM EST

I'm thinking about going to see it again this Friday. I really love that movie. I'd love to see it on an IMAX screen, but alas, there isn't one remotely near where I live. Unfair! Oh well. The last movie I saw in theaters twice was "Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix." I always end up seeing the HP films multiple times.

Kate Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

Would definitely go see it again! It's a must for that movie on the big screen. for some reason i saw both knocked up and maid in manhattan four times in theaters. the last time i saw knocked up was quite embaressing though as it was only me and two other guys in the theater and i was laughing so hard but they didn't even crack a smile. awkward.

Mike Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:56 PM EST

I saw it four times and each time is just as good as the first. I still jump when the mayor is talking and the copycat slams into the glass. I'm going with my dad on saturday, which will be my fifth. It's one of the best movies i've ever seen.

Jennifer Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:54 PM EST

I've already seen it twice this weekend! Great movie!

Kurt Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:46 PM EST

I might see it again, but I don't have a definite urge to like I've had with other movies.. Mostly the LOTR trilogy. I saw each LOTR movies at least 3 times, and I think ROTK 4 times.

Tim Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:37 PM EST

I haven't seen Dark Knight yet - I saw Mamma Mia, and I plan to see that in the theatre again. The last movie I saw in the theatre multiple times was Titanic, so it's not something I do often. It's a shame Mamma Mia opened the same weekend as Dark Knight because it's not getting the attention it deserves. Meryl deserves the Oscar!!

keke Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:35 PM EST

pixarfan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:34 PM EST

any movie that well done has to be seen more than once. So of course repeat viewings will happen... This is typically my feeling on pixar films, since they pack soo much into every scene. Its why i saw WALL E twice, Finding Nemo 3 times and The Incredibles 5 times in the theatre

keke Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

yah i tryed to see batman again for the secind time last night but it was sold out on a monday night weird

Jewel Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

OK, I'll admit the one movie I saw in the theater more than once happened to be Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I was in your camp, Annie, was afraid I wouldn't make any friends if I didn't keep saying, "yes, I'll go." Anyway, I'm happy to report, I've already seen Batman twice in the theater. Once on Friday and again on Saturday. And I hope to catch it again at IMAX. So there. :)

Reem Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:26 PM EST

The only movie I actually saw more than once in the theater willingly was Iron Man (watched it twice). Other than that, I usually wait until its out on DVD. I'm not paying NYC movie prices twice.

Ashley Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:21 PM EST

I went to the midnight Thursday showing and went again Monday night to see it because a family member was interested in going. While I have been known to do that in the past, I did see Harry Potter 5 five times in theaters last year, I went to The Dark Knight again to appreciate Nolan's subtle clues in direction, Bale's Batman, and Ledger's dynamic performance. A movie of this caliber needs multiple viewings.

abby Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:18 PM EST

I would most definelty see it again! it had many things i would like to better understand and simply see again. I saw the first pirates of the caribbean 3 times adn The Village 4 in theaters.

J from VA Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:17 PM EST

I just wanna say thanks to Annie for quoting one of my favorite lines from that movie. Don't be weird.

shawn johnson Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:16 PM EST

oh heck yeah-im going tonight to see agian! but i doubt i will see it as many times as i saw return of the king-which was an astounding 12!!! times!!! and you better believe that i love every minute of every showing!!!

Steph Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:04 PM EST

I've only seen TDK once, but that's probably the only time I'll see it until it comes out on DVD. My most repeated viewing was definitely Titanic. But I was in 8th grade and Leonardo DiCaprio was SUCH a babe. :D

K Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:03 PM EST

As a kid, I think I saw Casper 3 times in the theater (maybe more). And I most definitely saw You Got Mail twice... I think. Scariest? My grandparents saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding something like 4 times in the theater. So, so wrong.

rob Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 03:01 PM EST

I'm with Nicole on this. DK was complex, but unnecessarily so - it was way too long and had far too many subplots. They should have focused more clearly on the key Dent/Joker/Rachel/Batman storylines, severely truncated all the other nonsense about the mafia, the Hong Kong criminal, the barges, the corporate insider who wanted to expose batman's identity. I must say, though, Ledger was great.

Knightwing J Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:57 PM EST

Seen it 3 times so far, and plan on seeing it at least one more time at IMAX. I have no idea what my final total will be, I have an open invitation to everyone I know that I will go see it with them if they want. The movie is remarkable. Even after three viewings, I am still picking up new little story points, as well as little things in Heath's performance that make it even greater.

filmboymichael Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:56 PM EST

Oh, I am sure that this will meet the ire of many a fanboy filled with disdain for everything other than action or superhero(which I love by the way!), but I saw Chicago 8 times in the theatre and loved it just as much each time.

JDMB Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:55 PM EST

the movie I've seen the most in a theater is "2001: A Space Odyssey", at least 6-7 times. And yes, I would go to see this one again.

Sharon Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

I've already seen it twice. I saw it on opening day, a noon showing and a 5:00 showing. And I'd definitely see it a third time!

Mark Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

Since the "local" IMAX is 40 miles away with reserved seating, I caught a 10 AM showing on a standard screen. But my second viewing MUST be IMAX.

Tee Tee Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:50 PM EST

Oh my goodness! How did I ever forget Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - 5 Times! That movie rocks!!

virtual_insanity Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:47 PM EST

You mos def need to see this film at least twice at the movies.

virtual_insanity Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:46 PM EST

See it again? I've seen it 3 times already, gonna see it 3 times more in the weekend.

Tee Tee Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:39 PM EST

Oh my goodness! How did I ever forget Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - 5 Times! That movie rocks!!

nicole Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

I would absolutely not see it again, in the theatre or on dvd. It was too dark, depressing, and frightening for me. The ending was not happy one bit, and it was 45 minutes too long.

Sean Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

Definitely want to see this again.

Steve Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

I'm seeing it for the second time tonight!

Michael H. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:36 PM EST

I think the film I've seen most in the theatre is HAIRSPRAY (the original 1988 Ricki Lake version) - a grand total of 4 times.

Also went to see THE SIXTH SENSE a second time in the theatre and even though I knew the secrets it was more intense the second time!

Tee Tee Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:35 PM EST

I am definitely going to see it again. Actually a couple of more times. My next time will be in IMAX which will probably be tomorrow. Among movies that I have seen more than once in the Theaters: Passion of the Christ - 2 times (1 in IMAX); Die Hard 4 - 3 times; Transformers - 4 times and Titanic - 6 times. There's no shame in my game!! :)

Jordan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:34 PM EST

I saw it at midnight on opening night and went back again on sunday to see it a second time. and i have a date next week and guess what we're going to see....... I'd sit through this thing 100 times. simply stunning. and heath is absolutely amazing as the Joker. best movie villain ever! To quote Ricky Bobby, this movie wins "the academy award for best movie ever made."

Danielle Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:34 PM EST

I will see it again, if not two more times. Best movie--loved it! Saw Revenge of the Sith 5 times, Pirates 3 two times

MODyssey Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:32 PM EST

I've already seen it twice and will be seeing it at LEAST five or six more times. There are still some details I'm trying pay closer attention to and a film this good deserves repeat viewings in the theater. The only other films I've seen multiple times were the original Star Wars episodes and Casino Royale. One of the great things about Dark Knight is that you can't get it out of your head. Even my fiance who HATES super-hero movies insisted on seeing this with me again. We also need to see it in IMAX as well.

Laura M Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:29 PM EST

I'll probably see The Dark Knight again in IMAX. I thought it was amazing and absolutely riveting, and so complex that it definitely merited a second look.

As for other films, if I really like a movie, I'll usually see it twice in theaters. But I think the LOTR movies stand out as the films that I saw the most times in theaters - the first one I saw 6 times, and the last two I saw 4 times! And it was so worth it.

Sara Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:27 PM EST

I saw it twice already. Went to the midnight screening and then some co-workers wanted to see it so went on Friday at 2:30 after staying up till 3am watching it the night before. I'm crazy I know. I have to see it one more time on IMAX!!!

Rachel K Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

I would definitely see The Dark Knight in the theatre again. There's just so much I know I missed the first time around.

I saw Titanic five times in the theatre! I know, I'm so ashamed. But I had good reasons, I swear!

Nicole C. Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

If I didn't have a baby, I would definitely see it many times. As it was, we brought her along, but it was too long for her.
I have also seen Lion King multiple times, Pulp Fiction, Boys Don't Cry, and Wayne's World back in the day. I also saw Armageddon a couple times in the theater...two times too many.

JP Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:17 PM EST

Evita 8 times in the theatre.
Independence Day 6 times in the theatre.
Batman Forever 6 times in the theatre.
What? So I had bad taste. Besides, movies didn't come out in home video versions quite so quickly back then!

aubie822 Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:17 PM EST

I'm planning on seeing it again this Friday...I'm pumped!

I saw Jurassic Park several times, but the movie I probably saw the most in the theater was Tim Burton's Batman...pretty fitting. :)

Matt Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:13 PM EST

I would see Dark Knight again several more times...

I hate to admit it, but I saw "Don't be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" 3 times in the theater... It was hilarious back in the day.

Big T Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:10 PM EST

I saw Showgirls 10 times in the theatre. Alone. Wearing only a trenchcoat.

Heather Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:08 PM EST

If movies didn't cost so much, I would consider seeing this one again... That being said I did see Pulp Fiction 6 times and Shawshank Redemption 3 times at the theater, but my now husband worked there, so I'm pretty sure I didn't pay!

anonymous Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:06 PM EST

hehehe i wont admit to my friends, since i'm a teenage girl with teenage friends who are lot more interested in seeing Mamma Mia, but i've already seen it four times (and ok, i was VERY bored, and the first time was when i got an unexpected free screening pass). so i contributed my 34 bucks already. (at some theaters it costs 12 dollars!)

Jessica Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:06 PM EST

I saw it at 12:01am Friday and I am going to see it in IMAX tomorrow.

larry k Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:05 PM EST

Saw it momday, will be seeing it again this sat. at the imax with my wife.Saw Coverfield and the new Indy 3 times. The Dark Knight needs to be seen more than once to soak it all in.Looking forward to the X-Files this fri.

Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 02:02 PM EST

I saw Pulp Fiction 6 times. A friend of mine saw it 18 times. I actually wish I had went to see it more times than I did.

AM Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:54 PM EST

I actually saw the Fame-lite movie Center Stage 6 times in theaters. Something about a group of starry-eyed youngsters following their dreams, and hoofing it up for all they're worth (not to mention a deliciously oily Peter Gallagher performance)struck a chord. Definitely not one of my proudest moments.

Mozz Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:53 PM EST

I am going to see the Dark Knight at least three times in the theatre. it is that good. I saw The Return of the King twice, Titanic 5 times, Disney's Beauty and the Beast 3 times, nothing wrong with going to see something you love. Although i wish i could take back 2 of those Titanic times.

Chad Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:52 PM EST

I saw The Dark Knight a second time just last night. (A friend wanted to go who hadn't seen it yet.) I think it may have been better the second time.

My wife/then-girlfriend and I saw Shrek at the theater around 6 or 7 times. I saw Pulp Fiction around 5 times at the theater. Napoleon Dynamite - at least twice. The Royal Tenenbaums - twice. About Schmidt - twice. Iron Man - twice.

I'm sure there's more, but, no, I'm not above seeing a movie several times at the theater.

The Dark Knight Fan Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:51 PM EST

I've seen The Dark Knight three times already. I'm going again tonight and again tomorrow. I may go again after that bringing my total to six.

I seriously cannot get enough of this movie. This IS the quintessential Batman film.

elly Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 01:51 PM EST

i've seen it, but i'll be heading to an imax showing...it'll be worth it. the technical excellence of this film is not debatable. and there's a good chance that much of my disillusionment with the film will be tempered by going near the end of its run, ie. the theatre won't be full of whackjobs who laugh and giggle and yell, "awesome!" when the joker commits horrific acts of violence, or girls who only went for the morbid fascination of heath ledger and talk the whole way through because they
