Comic-Con: 'Heroes' panel packed with Season 3 spoilers

Milo_l Panel....or pep rally? Thousands of Heroes fans packed Comic-Con's largest venue to get the first look at season three before it returns to NBC — after a nine-month-hiatus — on Sept. 22. And when we say first look, we mean a complete 44-minute look: Executive Producer Tim Kring told the 6,000-plus crowd that he not only wants them to be among the first to see the start of Volume III (titled "The Second Coming"), but that he'd also like them to spread the word once they leave San Diego. "Go back and talk about it and say it's better than ever," Kring said.  Spoilers begin after the jump:

• The action begins with a "future" Peter (Milo Ventimiglia, pictured) coming back to modern day in an effort to shoot Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) before he exposes their secret powers to the world.

• Matt (Greg Grunberg) discovers future-Peter's real identity — but is banished into the middle of nowhere before he can do anything about it.

• Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) finally isolates Maya's (Dania Ramirez) powers in chemical form, and uses a syringe to inject himself with the magic elixir rather than give the girl what she wants — freedom from the hell of her super-human affliction.

• Sylar (Zachary Quinto) traps Claire (Hayden Panettiere) in her house and literally rips open her head to steal her thoughts and ability to defy death, while...

• Hiro (Masi Oki) disobeys his dead father's command and opens up the office safe that holds part of a formula that, if completed, could destroy the world. Of course, it's confiscated within seconds by a mysterious, time-traveling blonde.

• There are also brief appearances by Niki (Ali Larter) — now looking professional and dating (or married to?) an older man — as well as Noah (Jack Coleman), who's locked up in an inescapable prison cell. Oh, and keep an eye out for a new animated image (painting?) that look likes the Earth is cracking in half.

• And did we say a newly powered-up Mohinder gets to finally kick some ass?

The screening left little time for and a Q&A session, but that didn't stop the entire cast from coming on stage to wave and blow kisses to the fans (one young woman even got a hug from Ventimiglia). The crowd roared, especially since most had been waiting hours for the panel. One even waved a sign that said "Milo we camped out 4 U all night."

OMFG!! so many bad comments. you cant determin (cant spell for toffee) how good s1 s2 s3 are untill the end. like they cant determin the fate of the world . every little twist is perfect and is turning every thought from s1 to not be the same as in s3 and for that reason alone makes me now not expect anything but surprise's. good luck and thank you to everyone to do with hero's it's been great from start to finish and i hope it carrys on till im old and grey coz i can garuntee i will still be watching it. =)

Years ago one could watch a movie and never see a minority in it. Oh to go back to those wonderful days. I can't believe that people would get upset with comments made by Imus and not be offended by Heroes. D.L., the Haitian, The Painter, and more recently the Latin American twins have been a steady source of racist anecdotes and malicious yarns. Heroes has to do a lot better than Spooky Haitian Zombies and Ex-Cons, Junkies and illegal aliens to get me to watch season three. I wouldn't doubt that the spirit of D.W. Griffith wasn't channelled as a muse to get Heroes started.

Well i loved this show at first, but it's become a bit redundant.

Mohinder wants to avenge sylar, sylar wants claire, peters saving the world....

IDK i hope its not the same story again.

Manny Wed, Jul 30, 2008 at 12:27 PM EST

Great to see Sylar back. He is my favorite character.

Rob Grizzly Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 08:19 AM EST

until the acting gets better...

ken white Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 07:19 PM EST

Awhile back a lot of talk about Kristen Bell coming to the show.
What happened, where is she?

Dr. No Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 06:08 PM EST

Seriously, the writing on this show seems to be done by a 3 year old retarded koala bear. It's awful. Season 1 tried, and it tried so hard I wanted to give it more of a chance to mature in Season 2...........but man was last season awful. It took the great characters they had, and tore them apart.

Tim Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 04:15 PM EST

Travelling through time...Again? The entire world is on the brink...Again? Sylar is the big villain...Again? They really haven't enticed me into watching.

Heather Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 03:48 PM EST

Sounds great. Do we see Sylar taking her powers? Too cool. But I have to say, Mohinder's an ass to do that. WTF? Also, where's Monica and little Micah?

Also, future Peter seemed too obvious. Darns.

Phil Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

Yawn. Boring. Nothing exciting. Normal comic book stuff without the innovation or postmodern flair to make the old interesting (or even worth revisiting) again.

bostonbean Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

Season 2 was lame because Brian Fuller left. The rest of the writers decided to rehash season 1 stuff like bring back sylar etc. instead of expanding and taking the show in new directions. Whether they are capable of this or not is up for debate, but unlikely considering how enormously bad season 2 was barring a couple of episodes.

Jason Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 03:12 PM EST

that cool, I didnt know I have only seen a couple of new things about season 3 lately

Pieholer Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

Jason - No, future Peter is sent back to the future

Jason Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 02:29 PM EST

that cool, I just wanted to let people know claire doesnt die but i wonder if future peter does

Pieholer Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

I was there!

Jason Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 01:40 PM EST

if you go to the nbc homepage for heroes, you can watch a minute preview where you see claire with a gun ready to shot a future peter for a brief second.

kiki Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:43 PM EST

where u hear bout that?

kiki Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:42 PM EST

WAT! sylar gets claires power? NO WAY! THAT IS SO TOTALLY MESSED UP!!! its cool that Mohinder finally gets 2 kick some butt instead of all that other stuff he does.

Sami Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:40 PM EST

I'm tired of Sylar. I think the show is limiting itself keeping him around. He is very one-dimensional and overpowered. The time traveling is also played out and usually handled pretty sloppily. And is the world going to come to an end every season? The show needs new writers and also needs to tone down some of the more overly powerful characters (Hiro's time-jumping can stop anytime now...). This show needs new direction or a restart.

kiki Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:39 PM EST

dude this season is going 2 b totally wack but if they kill off claire im going 2 stop watching she's like my favorite character. i cant wait til sept. 22 for it 2 start showing again! i want sylar 2 DIE! GRR!

Pieholer Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

Hey Samisam -- don't worry. Skylar doesn't kill Claire -- in fact, he tells her she can't be killed -- and now that he has her power as well, he can't be killed either!

samisam Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

Sylar needs to go I thougth he was dead after Season Two like seriously if he kills Claire I will totally stop watching or paying attetion to it. Peter shooting Nathan. Never saw that coming. And why would Hiro care about I virus that could destroy the world? leaving it alone would be the smart thing to do Duh! Season 3 sounds exciting and I'm hoping it's the end of Sylar he is getting way annoying.

Ceballos Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 11:07 AM EST

So Peter is the one that shoots Nathan. I have to say, I didn't see that one coming. I'm not sure how I feel about Mohinder having powers. Sure, I find his character incredibly boring and his actions often idiotic, but I thought having a non-superpowered central character (besides HRG) was essential. I would've rather seen him use that serum on Mr. Muggles.

Season 2 was tres lame, but I'm back in. It's not the most unusual thing in the world (in fact it's fairly common) for a show to have a sophomore slump after a great first year. Hopefully, like "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" before it, "Heroes" can break out of that.

Shews Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 10:33 AM EST

I'm so glad all of you are so quick to judge without even seeing the episode. Let's watch it and find out what is happening with our own eyes.

Jodie Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 07:50 AM EST

So what, are they ALL villains now? Sounds like everyone got a little too bad ass. Noone is going to save the world like that.

Beverly Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 07:41 AM EST

Can someone please get rid of Sylar? I'm sick to death of him. Season 2 was awful, it doesn't sound like Season 3 will be any better.

Jason Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 07:22 AM EST

they dont kill Claire off, if you visit wizarduniverse.com, they state that she lives thru it.

Abby Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 12:29 AM EST

I was a HUGE fan of the first season, I only kind of liked the second season and the third season sounds like it's going to hell... what was the point of having the whole first season be about saving claire and what the would do, if you only kill her off in the third season? i have to admit, i love the actors and i think they all have been fabulous, their great at what they do... i'm upset with the writers... what are they thinking?!

That sounds godawful.

Snarf Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 03:20 PM EST

Looking forward to S3. Hopefully they iron out the bugs from S2 and return it form. I thought Chapter 3 was called "Villians"?

Ali Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

Or mention we know Angela Petrelli's power - kinda a big secret. lol.

Emielle Sun, Jul 27, 2008 at 08:15 AM EST

"One young woman even got a hug from Ventimiglia"

Christ Milo, you're already robbing the cradle. What, you gotta move up to the whole nursery now?

Megan Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 06:34 PM EST

I wish I could have been there, I soooo want to be the one hugged by Milo Ventimiglia!!!!

Sat, Jul 26, 2008 at 05:05 PM EST

The mysterious time traveling blonde isn't a time traveler, she just is able to run really fast.

And you didn't mention the return of LINDERMAN!
