Opening with a montage of clips both old and new, Adult Swim's
Robot Chicken Comic-Con panel on Friday was packed to the rafters not only with fans, but with the
show's writers and voice actors as well. The table on the dais was practically bursting
by the time Seth Green (pictured), along with writers Matthew Senreich, Tom Root, Doug
Goldstein, Breckin Meyer, Kevin Shinick, and voice actor Tom Kane, filed onto the
stage. They fielded questions from the audience (including one
proposal by a very well-meaning mother and her daughter) and gave
fans some tantalizing peeks into the new season of Robot Chicken — as well as the show's
latest Star Wars special (this time centering on the bounty hunters), currently
in the works.
The Aug. 31 season premiere of Robot Chicken will be host to some of the biggest names in geek TV, including Joss Whedon, Seth MacFarlane, Ronald D. Moore, and Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff. The season itself will have sketches skewering everything from Batman and The Shawshank Redemption (Kevin Shinick calls it "Shawshank Arkham Asylum") to Indiana Jones and Tron, as well as a Living Lohan sketch voiced entirely by Meyer.
As for the new Star Wars special, Green promised that the bounty hunters would finally get their due, with sketches that would peek into the backgrounds of favorites like Dengar and Bossk (the writers-room favorite, who Root is determined to get into a tuxedo at some point). Another sketch: One that Meyer promised would finally articulate the true nature of the relationship between Boba Fett and the Sarlacc Pit. Production has already started, and Green said that fans can look forward to some familiar voices, including Star Wars luminaries like Carrie Fisher and Billy Dee Williams.
