Categories: Twilight

Dracula_l We are aware that the hype surrounding the release of the fourth and final book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, is reaching a fever pitch, and that we've certainly done some fan-flaming around here. (See! Our goofy cartoon vampire proves we can have a laugh at our role in this phenomenon!) BUT we really do have something super-special going on, exclusive to EW.com: video of the Breaking Dawn Concert Tour, which we will be streaming live from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday (Aug. 1), and replaying again at 9 and midnight EST. The event will feature Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October, performing several songs that have appeared on Meyer’s own music playlists. (Check out "Hate Me" on the band's MySpace page.) Meyer says that Furstenfeld’s music has played a major role in her writing, and has even inspired scenes in the Twilight saga.

PopWatchers, what do you think? Does the music enhances the experience of reading the books for you? And will you be going to one of the other three Breaking Dawn-themed shows in Chicago (on Aug 5), Los Angeles (Aug 7), and Seattle (Aug 12)?

I loved Breaking Dawn!!! I can't believe how many people disliked it!! Breaking Dawn had so many twists and turns, events and surprises!

Kimberly Tue, Aug 19, 2008 at 12:55 PM EST

Ho me gosh. I totally loved it.

Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

Quote from above:

"People who loved Breaking Dawn High Five! People who don't, you'll soon see that you like it! ;)"

HAHA!! Those of us who dislike it will never like it.

It appears to me the only readers who enjoyed it were either under 18 or mormon.

The book was awful. There was so many holes in the story and plot; it didn't even flow with the other books in the series.

SMeyer herself admitted to writing the majority of this book before NM and Eclipse were ever even an idea.

She said that originally Jacob's Book was in BPOV so that yes she did change that. That she never expected Jake & Bella's relationship to evolve the way it did.

So if NM & Eclipse happened why didn't she re-write her book to take all the new character development into it??

I also went to the concert in Seattle and thought it was amazing (and twice as long as The Host tour in Portland). It was well worth the stress I had to go thru for a month and a half waiting for tickets on craigslist at a decent price. The concert was even better than my expectations and I thought Stephenie was very nice and personable. I really liked the book and I'm sick of hearing people complain about "Stephenie said this" "Stephenie said that" when she obviously didn't say what people think. She only said that female vampires can't bear children, and the rest is explained in BD. Bella wasn't a vampire yet so it's completely plausible that she could become pregnant. Stephenie said herself there are plenty of hints and clues in New Moon and Eclipse of what was to come in Breaking Dawn. I love that Stephenie said BD was like the 'Rob effect', people were shocked and upset about Rob at first and now they love him. Same with BD, I was shocked and kind of upset at 1st & now i love it!

Rachel-17 Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 10:09 PM EST

I went to the Seattle concert and loved it! It was so much fun talking to random people who love Twilight just as much as I do. I talked to twilight moms, people my own age and even young readers. Stephenie was so nice and fun to listen to and Justin was great. I'm glad that the people I talked to about breaking Dawn didn't kill my post-Breaking Dawn buzz. I loved the book and was pleased to see that although it was odd at first with Bella and Edward acting differently, but they matured, which is what people are SUPPOSED to do when they get older/get married. After the concert when Stephenie was signing she was still smiling and chatting with fans even whn my sister in I got to the front of the line 2 hours after she started signing. She even complimented me on my Forks HS shirts. I'm glad SM wrote the book the way she wanted it and I think everyone else who has negative stuff to say about it is letting their expectations get in the way, she didn't write BD for YOU, she wrote for hrsf

I loved the concert series. It was special for me to see stephenie Meyer and have her sign my book. But Blue October is also my favorite band, so having Justin Furstenfeld was great, he is such an emotional singer I actually cried when he sang 'Hate Me'. I loved it.

Sydney Wed, Aug 13, 2008 at 01:27 PM EST

I went to the Seattle concert last night, it honestly was cheesy, there was maybe 8 questions, then Justin (who is SO awsome) played maybe 6 songs.....THE END, less then a hour long!

caroline :D Tue, Aug 12, 2008 at 09:46 PM EST

does anyone know the names of all the songs that were played at the breaking dawn concert in la?

Sami Sun, Aug 10, 2008 at 10:33 AM EST

i went to the show on august 1st and i thought it was absolutely amazing!!!! the best night of my life, no doubt. i cant thank stephenie enough for the experience!!

Valerie Hernandez Sat, Aug 9, 2008 at 09:21 PM EST

I didn't get to go but I saw the live feed online and I thought it was awesome. You really see how passionate Stepehenie Meyer is about her books and that made me love her more as an author. The only thing I would have wanted was to actually be there.

Sarah Grinnell Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:24 PM EST

Unfortunately, I have been unable to attend any of the Breaking Dawn concerts. However, I completely love the concept and think it's awesome that Stephenie is once again showing such love for her fans, giving them the opportunity to stay in "Twilight-land" a bit longer. The Blue October music I have listened to from Stephenie's website book playlists I thought did enhance my reading experience for her books. So, if the music at the concerts is like that, then yes...

Sam (: Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 06:10 PM EST

I absolutely love these books. The Breaking Dawn concert was truly amazing. Even though I didn't expect the things that happened in BD, I still loved it. What I DON'T get is how people who bash Twilight comment on this article. It made me mad, why don't you go post your hatred on somewhere else? Twilight fans don't appreciate it. Anyway, I hope Stephenie Meyer would write more books about the Twilight universe. I would love it in Renesmee's POV.

Jay Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 05:31 PM EST

Nope - I didn't like how the events were concerts with Q&A. If I want to hear music, I'll go to a concert. If I want to listen to an author, I'll go to a book signing or reading.

Especially since there are only four concerts. Think of all the people that couldn't afford tickets, or even get there.

But then, I also thought that having playlists for each book to . . . enhance the experience was silly.

Lisa Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 04:34 PM EST

I thought the Breaking Dawn Concert was amazing. I attended last night and it was wonderful. The music was amazing and "My Never" was the saddest song I've ever heard. I could completely understand how music influences Stephenie's writing. I could understand Jacob in the song "My Never". I can't wait for the song to be released. I wish Stephenie would have answered more questions, but the ones she did answer were great and really helped me understand the book more. I thought the concert was amazing.

Sara Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 04:19 PM EST

i loved it. i wish that she would have taken more questions and i loved the connections that she had with his songs. and how we got a sneak peek in to their new album and the song "my never" and the story behind it.

Emily Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

I attended Stephenie Meyer's book signing in San Diego in May for the Host. I had a wonderful time there, but this book signing was amazing. The music created an emotional environment and left myself and several people around me in tears.

Kristin Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 03:44 PM EST

I flew from Orlando, FL to Chicago, Il to attend the Breaking Dawn concert series on August 5th. And I have to say that...it was worth every penny!!! Justin was amazing, brilliant. And hearing Stephenie answer questions about the final installment in the Twilight saga was incredible. Things were definitely cleared up! Having the book signing also be a concert was awesome! I am a music lover, and hearing the songs from Justin, while Stephenie was there to explain what they meant to her and to the books, oh! There are not words to describe it. The atmosphere was positive, everyone there shared a love for the books and their author. It was one of the best nights I have ever had, and I will never forget it! Thanks Stephenie!

Crystal Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 03:33 PM EST

I went to the LA concert and it was great! I cried a few times even. I noticed alot of people wanted a normal bookstore signing...1800 people at Borders, I don't think that would work! I really liked the book, it was different but still good. Edward always wanted to be married and have a family and he got it. Bella was finally happy with who she is and we don't have to feel sad for Jacob anymore! :)

Missy B. Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 02:58 PM EST

I still say it's a great idea, even if you have to pay to see an author.. Unlike book stores, venues such as UCLA's Royce Hall, charge to use their facilities. Also the tickets weren't all that expensive as some make them out to be. You'd just have to sacrifice your weekend Mall plans. And because there is such a frenzy surrounding her now, such accommodations inside a book store is completely out of the question. Therefore venues, such as SM is doing right now, are the only option. Adding music to her book tour is a way for her to bring to her fans the inspiration and joy behind her stories and a glimpse into her head. That's more like a gift than a distraction. It boils down to no one forcing you to buy and read her books, attending book tour events or watching them online. If you don't like it, go find something that you do!

Chloe Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

I think that it's a great idea, as long as the music relates to the book, like it does for Twilight. It definitely makes signings more exciting :). I watched part of the Chicago and LA events online, and they looked like a lot of fun. They seemed to go by really quickly though. Overall, I'd say that a book signing - concert combination is an amazing idea.

Kasandra Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 02:31 PM EST

I was at the Chicago concert and it was awesome! It was wonderful to hear Justin and Stephenie talk about some of the songs and how they inspired her writing, as well as, the stories behind how he created them. It was also fun to see how much they admire each other's work. Most of the questions I had about the book were answered. I already loved Justin's music so to see one of my favorite singers together with my most favorite author was magical.

Summer Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 02:17 PM EST

I think a concert tour for Stephenie Meyer is the worst idea anyone could ever have come up with.

Firstly, after the epic fail of Breaking Dawn, who would want to listen to a speech from an anti-feminist woman?

Second, the idea seems ludicrous after the horrible Q&A at Chicago just this week. For every answer, Smeyer said, "It'll be in the guide. I don't have it yet. The characters will tell me once it's time for the guide to come out."

Talk about someone who wants my money.

NO! IT'S A HORRIBLE IDEA!

Gina Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:43 PM EST

I thought it was absolutely AMAZING!! I went to the one in NY and it was spectacular!! Stephenie was very nice and it was totally cool getting to meet her, and Justin Furstenfeld was awesome, I thought it was soo much fun getting to hear all the music from Blue October, especially the new song that will be coming out soon "My Never" it was such a sweet song! All in all, I had the greatest time of my life!

JulesCullen Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:35 PM EST

I think it is a really inovative way to bring more attention to authors. Besides, a little music can always lighten things up, and in the way it is used here, it can really show the author's thought process and how music affects everything around us- even the books we read.

MelissalovesEDWARDCULLEN Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:33 PM EST

I saw the LA Breaking dawn concert with Stephenie MEYER. LOVED IT!!! well i wasnt exactly there, but i got to see it live on the internet. I also got to chat with BREAKING dawn fanpires.LOL...anyways, there were funny parts when stephenie meyer made fun of her own books like Bella marrying mike and then tripping on some stairs then dying and charlie gets all wacked out...Breaking DOWN was what she was calling it. It was funny. I wish i was able to meet stephenie meyer in person, that would be amazing. in the chat room, there was a lot of conversation about different teams like TEAM EDWARD and TEAM JACOB. Most of them decided that we should combine because we are nuetral. TEAM JEBWARD. As much as i like that, i LOVE EDWARD CULLEN...TEAM EDWARD IS MY MIDDLE NAME...!<3<3 After Breaking Dawn, everyone started loving seth. i still LOVE EDWARD CULLEN NO MATTER WHAT!!! i wanna meet the cast of the twilight movie so badly I HOPE STEPHENIE MEYER MAKES MORE BOOKS IN THE TWILIGHT SERIES.EDWARD C!

kristinelovesEJ Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

i watched the LA concert thing last night. i think it is a really good idea if the songs really relate to the book. stephenie did a good job on telling us what page it would go with or what part of the book it was. some people were crying from the music. so i think its a REALLy REALLY smart and good idea to have it as concert tour with the book. as long as they both relate.

Sara Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:13 PM EST

I did not go to any of the events because I didn't live near one, but even if I had, I thought it was ridiculous to PAY to see the author, plus a band I'd never heard of and didn't care about. What happened to regular book signings in bookstores? They didn't make enough money for the author? I was pretty disappointed about how people were charged to attend, and really, watching a band is not something I want when what I really care about is the book...

James Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 12:57 PM EST

We ended up with 4 tickets to the UCLA event last night. We had a blast I agree with some of the comments that it should have been a longer Q&A and more venues but she is obviously tired this has been more emotional draining than I think she was ready for. I think it is an awesome concept and it might get more people reading especially if musicians come out supporting authors.

Vamppirate Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 12:54 PM EST

I really enjoyed watching the concert on this website last night. I thought Stephenie Meyer did a great job of answering the questions. Justin Furstenfeld of Blue October, (one of my favorite groups) did a beautiful job, too! I loved Breaking Dawn and am sorry that some people didn't enjoy it. A big thank you to Stephenie Meyer for bring us this life changing series of books. You are a phenomenal storyteller. Thanks, also, to EW for making it possible for all of the fans who couldn't attend the concert to get to see it from the comfort of our own homes. Also, for those of you who are tired of hearing about "Twilight"--get over it! Twilight will be around FOREVER! Deal with It!

Jessie Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 12:34 PM EST

I went to the concert last night at Royce Hall (UCLA) and I can say with out a doubt it was the best time i've ever had at any kind of show!

Stephenie was wonderful! Justin was wonderful! Everything was perfect! This concert/book signing idea was GENIUS! I never want to have to go to a regular book tour event again!

Bravo to Kim for giving Stephenie the idea!

Lindsay Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

I thought the concert was a nice and an original idea, but I didn't like how Stephenie avoided answering some questions saying that you either had to buy another book in December if you wanted to know the answer or 'the characters wouldn't tell her'.

bee Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 11:05 AM EST

I was at the New York COncert and i though it was an amazing experrience and extremely fun!For this saga in particular the concert/book tour works because of the way Stephenie wrote her books with the music. So it worked in this case extremely well! There was such a great energy in that place ( even with the little fan girls yelling and screaming at the wrong moments -groan-) ,and i think this is a great way to market the book. It is soo much more fun then just waiting in line all night for an autograph. So all in all I think it is a amazing idea for this concert/ book series!

Missy B. Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 10:50 AM EST

I attended the LA concert last night. The music was great and Stephenie was allowed to answer questions about Breaking Dawn for the first time. Even with all that said, you can tell she's exhausted. It also didn't help that a lot of the teenagers in the audience recorded parts of the program on their cells and had to be told repeatedly to stop (it was extremely distracting), they still used flash photography towards the stage after being instructed not to and someone in front of us took a flash picture of Steph right after having their book signed when it was clearly posted it was not allowed (in fact a girl behind us with a camera was told to put it away or have it taken away). These kids need to learn some manners!!!!!!

Laura Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 10:31 AM EST

I loved the concert! I don't think it would work with any other author. Stephenie and music just go together.

Lauren Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 10:24 AM EST

I went to the New York concert in the Nokia theater. I am not exaggerating when I say I have never seen anything like it, especially for a book. The energy was awesome and positive, and the midnight parties that followed were madness (in a great way). It was so much fun, and the book was worth the wait. It was the perfect ending for the series.

TO JIM Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:54 AM EST

Twilight has already "happened". Ever hear of the Best Seller list? Yeah. Get over it.

Potch Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:51 AM EST

I think it's a terrible idea. It really limits the ability for fans to be able to attend a book signing. With only 4 venues, the majority of fans couldn't afford to go. It just a huge expense on the fans.

Jamie Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:34 AM EST

Really great idea. I just wish I could've been there-it was so close to home. :(

Charlotte Aakerman Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:20 AM EST

I think it was a great idea. These books aren't very big in Denmark and I had no way to participate in anything to celebrate it. But I could celebrate it by watching the live streams over the internet, the one from New York was flawless... There was a few connection issues from Los Angeles. I think it was great to hear the music that had inspired her, listen to hear answer questions and so on.

Elizabeth Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 09:03 AM EST

I went to the signing/concert in New York City, and it was fabulous! It really allowed me to get a look inside Stephenie's head, and to better understand emotions portrayed by the characters. This had to be the best idea anyone has ever come up with for a book release ever, and now we're going to be seeing a lot more of them.

Andrea Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 08:53 AM EST

I loved it! The only thing it lacked was more time! I think it adds more depth to the signing. Music can be interpretted in so many different ways, it was awesome to hear about Stephenie's take on these songs and how they effected her writing. I love SM and I love Blue October, so it was the perfect match up for me. ;)

Sarah L Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

I went to the Chicago concert series, and frankly, I'm disappointed. I went to see Stephenie Meyer, and was hoping for the perk of the music. Instead, Justin Furstenfeld played his bit, and then was called out to play EVEN MORE SONGS. Stephenie answered very few questions, and her answers were frequently short and uninspired. I had hoped to hear a decent analysis of the book from the author's mouth, and was sorely disappointed. I understand Justin is a favorite author of hers, but this situation is not appropriate to sit around and listen to your favorite band play live in front of guests who came to see YOU.

Eddy's girl Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 05:25 AM EST

I loved Breaking Dawn!!! I thought she closed off the series quite well. I don't know what other people were thinking when reading it, why the disappointment? Bella got everything she wanted and more!!! I wish the series never had to end!! Steph, you did amazing!!

Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 04:52 AM EST

best book ever just amazing the saga will be one of the greatest ever and remebbered forever as a classic. Breaking Dawn provides a perfect ending to the perfect saga i was in pain reading the last page of that book knowing the story was over forever

Meredith Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 02:19 AM EST

I was at the LA show tonight and I thought it absolutely enhanced the experience for me. It was so amazing to get to connect with Stephenie and understand what she was thinking about when she wrote it. Plus, it was really cool that all of those songs were written at my brother-in-law's house (Chuck) hahaha

desiree Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:41 AM EST

i personaly thought breaking dawn was completly amazing! every little twist was just so unexpected!!! i cried. i laughed. i got mad. i was happy. everything was so perfect! edward and bella got everything a person/vampire could ever ask for! AMAZING

brittany Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 01:21 AM EST

breaking dawn was disappointing :[

Jadelynne Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 12:44 AM EST

They were amazing...I wish she had come to my hometown! Justin is an amazing singer, and his songs are definetly complimentary to the characters. And Stephenie is a really compelling speaker, I love her explaining everything, it's so great. I wish I could've been there. :(

Burning Dawn Fri, Aug 8, 2008 at 12:01 AM EST

Srsly, read Breaking Dawn at your own risk. What in the world was SM thinking??? I'm going to go burn my copy now. There's two days I won't ever get back. blech!!!!

Raven_Moon Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 11:55 PM EST

I enjoyed watching the Breaking Dawn concert. Plus, I have new appreciation for Blue October. Thanks EW!

Prpurpledragon Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 11:45 PM EST

First I would like to say a very heart felt THANK YOU to Stephenie's husband and sons for being so Gracious and sharing her with us. These books are so AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, FANTASTIC. She is so wonderful. She makes you believe that the impossible is possible if you believe in LOVE and have FAITH and understanding, Having someone like Edward/Bella doesn't hurt. I can't wait for the movie. Stephenie has not only gotten young people reading again but has also gotten Mom's and Daughter's reading and talking with one another. My daughter, niece and I have read all the books countless times and have been to her previous book signings in Minnesota. It was incredible when she came to Mall of America. She was very Gracious, and easy to talk to,Thank You Stephenie for letting us all into your DREAM. It has been FABULOUS and I can't wait to read MIDNIGHT SUN.Edward's side is going to be Spectacular I'm sure. Can't wait to read more from Stephenie. Thank you again to her family for sharing her.

Edward Fan Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 11:36 PM EST

I love the books and the series, Eclipse is still my favorite. This video feed was a pain, nothing they told me to do worked. It was a joke, wish I could have watched it.

E.C. Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 11:07 PM EST

Personally, I love that Bella is a vampire, and I think the series should keep going xD The Twilight Saga is the best thing that has happened to me in a LONG time, I love it. Im not really sure what Midnight Sun is though, yet, I am super excited.

Burning Dawn Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 10:13 PM EST

Breaking Dawn should be renamed Burning Dawn because SM crashed and burned! That book was SO bad!

leslie Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 10:13 PM EST

um mines not working anyone else?

Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 10:08 PM EST

I mean, I personally love the series, but it is fun to imagine what it would be like in another book.

Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 10:00 PM EST

People who loved Breaking Dawn High Five! People who don't, you'll soon see that you like it! ;) The last one was easily my favorite except i was sad in the part where Edward was sad for Bella's 'condition' hehe Oh and i liked how Renee's and Esme's and Carlisle's and Charlie's names were mixed for Renesme Carlie Cullen's name and i thought it was nice the Volturi lived even though they were hateful, it wouldn't have been right if they died my favorite part though was when the Romanians were talking in the meadow..... i dunno i found them interesting... i liked Leah too for some reason even though i don't like Jacob but he isnt bad anymore. TEAM EDWARD WON!!!!!! YAY!!!

Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 09:50 PM EST

LOVE IT!!!!!! I would love another book for sure but where is the fun in fantasizing about what happens in our own ways. I mean if people really love the books they will for sure imagine it thier way anyways so in a way i am glad it ended how it did with a few questions but they wereent nagging questions they just gave us room for imagination. I do hope though that it is not the end of Meyers writing!! <3 <3

Kaylyn Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 09:45 PM EST

I think that rude people who do not absolutely love this series how anyone who has ever read a sentence in any book loves it, they should not burst everyones bubbles. I don't care if people have heard over and over in many different ways or the same, this series is more than amazing, no words to describe it, i do know i sound cheesy but who cares it is the truth, duh. Anyways i basically live through the books cuz i am a book a holic. Stephenie Meyer, an inspiring writer for sure! i really feel bad for Meyer when somebody slams her series cuz it is annoyingly all over a website. WOW i prattled lol whoever read this really has alot of time on their hands.

Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 09:37 PM EST

Gosh!!! I loved the series in soo many ways, although SM should have not ended it with only 4 books. In a way, it felt like she rushed, trying to get finish every lose tie. For example, she didn't explain the whole telling the secret to Charlie, the treaty with Jacob and Sam again, and the whole story of what Leah did. I thought that this could have gone many ways, including the way SM wrote it. Although, if I were to end this series, I would have the Volturi dead, and then have the Cullens in charge. Or maybe, not even having a royalty of vampires. Alhtough, this is only my opinion!

Jessica Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 08:52 PM EST

Why was there such a rush to end the Twilight series!! I think that it wouldnt hurt to have a book five or to con. through another characters' point of view!!! I just recently became a Twilight fan and ive loved every moment of it. Im really sad that its come to an end so quickly!!! Breaking Dawn is a great book, its just there's still some loose ends and it just feels like there should be a sequel!!! This series has inspired me in so many differnt ways. For one it gave me the love of reading books again!! I mean I can't reah Harry Potter but this came easy to me!! and now im now im tryin to read the hot but its just not the same as Twilight!!! So SM please dont forget about the Cullen family!!! I know we still have midnight sun but can we also have a spin off series of the family just from other character's point of view!!! Also im happy that bella and edward are together forever!!!!

shauna Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

Tiffany where did you read about the chicago tour. I would love to read it. i do believe that Stephanie did the best she could do. I thought the book was rather interesting and what a better way for Edward and Bella to begin their new lives together. I think that Renesmee completed things for both Edward and Bella. What a great twist. Anyway I loved the book.

Tiffany Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 08:29 AM EST

I think people expected too much from BD. Expectations were so high and now people are disappointed. Some of the complaints against BD come off a tad bit ridiculous. If a name ruined the entire book for you, then you've got a serious problem.
Everyone should try reading Stephenie's Q&A session (in Chicago I believe) where she clears up a lot of the issues with BD.
For example- Renesmee was a name Stephenie thought of from the beginning, not a name she picked to fill a gap in the pages. In this Q&A, she really clears up the creative choices she made (the pregnancy, etc). What surprises me is how serious people have taken this last book. They are fictional characters (in case someone forgets) and since Stephenie created them, she can choose to finish HER series any way she pleases. This happened with Rowling and book 7 too. I read it after the hype and I couldn't understand the hate on it either. And the publishing co. told Stephenie to edit violence. Maybe there was a war in draft 1

Jackie Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 07:22 AM EST

I enjoyed the book very much. Not crazy about the name Renesmee, but if that's the worst you can say about a book, that you don't like a character's name, then it's a good thing.

LOVED Jacob's blonde jokes to Rosalie, and the fact that he imprinted on Renesmee.

Only disappointment was that there was no fight in the end. I was so longing to see Jane and Alec get their smug little butts kicked!

nikki g AGAIN Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:33 AM EST

ight look, anyone who didnt like the book keep it to YOURSELF and dont criticize. stop hatin you knwo you LOVED all the books. and if u actually went to the 7 hundered page thing with the vampiers that belonged to each coven then MAYBE you would have gotten it! BEST EVER! PEACE!

nikki g Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:29 AM EST

'this one was just to poorly written'?!?! lady are you crazy! this book was amazin. next time you have something bad to say about something someone put so much time effort and dedication into keep it to yourself i may be 15 and immature but hey i know what im talking about. anyway...i loved how jacob's gravitational pull went from Bella, straight to Reneseme. it was great! fav part was the cottage. pictured it in my mind.

Amy Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:24 AM EST

Screw all you haters! Meyer did amazing with Breaking Dawn! If you seriously thought Bella would end up with Jacob you have commitment and love issues. So she did the best with the hand she was dealt and Jacob imprinting on her daughter was awesome! The book came at NO cost to anything else! The story wound up perfectly and go write your own sad excuse for a book if you don't like Breaking Dawn.

Katelyn Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:23 AM EST

Well I liked it. I thought the whole book was good. Except Meyer could have picked a better name than Renesmee. And there were WAY too many vampire groups (Amazon, Nomad, whatever etc.)for me to keep track as to who Meyer was talking about. I thought it ended good. Can't complain. I guess it could have been better, maybe should have been longer. or a 5th book.

sam Thu, Aug 7, 2008 at 01:00 AM EST

breaking dawn was good. decent.
it was in no way the best of the series in my opinion.
eclipse and twilight were the best in my opinion.
and there was not enough of all the supporting characters in this one. but that could just be me being biased because honestly jasper and alice are my favorite characters. then edward and emmet, then bella.
i think stephenie meyer should write a book about jasper from the beginning of when he got changed to when him and alice found the cullens. in more detail than just a chapter in eclipse. they deserve it!

magpie Wed, Aug 6, 2008 at 05:19 AM EST

jenny you took the words........sad times :(

Lizzie Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 04:29 PM EST

I thought that the book was good the only thing i didn't like was when renesmee was being born....and i kinda wish that when rosalie was being all protective of the baby that jacob had taken her out....she annoyed me but other then that i thought the book was really good!!

Dina Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 03:24 PM EST

LOL I made a slight mistake in my last comment...i mean in breaking dawn Stephenie made me love both edward and jacob

and i guess it is kinda cute that bella's daughter will be with jacob...because at least jacob is happy now and that's what matters

Dina Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 03:22 PM EST

Breakind Dawn was awesome!!! At first in Twilight and New Moon i was in love with Edward but then in Eclipse I just started to hate Edward and I fell for Jacob, but in Eclipse Stephenie makes me love both of them...if onle SM would make another book just about Jacob and Renesmee!! Could you please Stephenie Meyer??? It'd mean the world to me :)

Jenny Martin Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 03:03 PM EST

eyer’s “perfect ending” comes at what price?
The price is the love story, the plot, and the character development.
The price is seeing Jacob turn from a suitor who knows when to bow out into a toddler's pet. The price is seeing vulnerable Bella turn into a perfect shell of her former self. The price is seeing Edward, who was formerly a continuously smoldering cauldron of desire, degraded to a level of abject affliction.
The price is watching Charlie turn from a loving and protective father into a "don't need to know" Homer Simpson.
The price is having to stomach a bloodbath during a mutant birth which rivals the absurdity of the Alien baby delivery of the "V" TV miniseries of the 1980's.
Bella's surrender of her human life to Edward should have ended intimately with his lips caressing her throat, not with fountains of blood spewing from her mouth as Jacob watches.
The price is too much--much too heartbreaking--for me to pay.
Ms. Meyers,
What hast thou wrought?

Jiro Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 02:25 PM EST

Breaking Dawn was a disappointment. The baby thing was just too much, I almost put the book down. It had a different feel to it, the characters seemed way changed. If the first book had been written like this, I probably wouldn't have ever started the series. I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOVED the other three, but this one was just to poorly written, made all the worst by my high expectations. It was a waste of time and money, read at your own risk.

Imgonnamissthosevampires Tue, Aug 5, 2008 at 11:32 AM EST

Stephenie, your a amazing writer and I don't want to let go of Edward and Bella!Thank you for everything your books made me think twice on giving up on love. You really did tie up all the loose ends even though I didn't want you to. Thank you and breaking dawn is by far my favorite. Thanks Stephenie and I loved the host it was amazing and very different! I will always be a fan and plz don't ever let go of edward and bella cuz some fans(me included) that you'll wake from another dream wanting to write more about them. Cuz I can't stop crying everytime I look at breaking dawn and I'm sure most of your fans feel that way to.

renesemee Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 11:24 PM EST

breaking dawn was so happy and i loved it. i've reread it about twice already. it was so happy and perfect it made me cry wishing reality really was this book or that i was bella. we never learned about emmett's previous life and i want to know what happens with jake and nessie when she's older. also about sue and charlie?? stephenie meyer, you re truly amazing but i wish you'd write another book. no one really thinks it has to be 700 pages. just about 300 to tell us what happens in the end for the characters besides edward and bella. man i wish i was bella.

Anna Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 08:31 PM EST

Omg, I loved Breaking Dawn so much, it was so hard to put down just like the others, I only wish the series didnt have to stop yet.

Donna Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 08:25 PM EST

Stephanie,
Please consider writing a book about Jacob and Nessie's life together.
Breaking Dawn accomplished the main goal of wrapping up all the "loose ends" and giving the readers a view of the "new" Bella. It was fun and I think readers (even "idealistic" teens) know that it is a fantasy fiction book and that "real life" doesn't always work out so perfect. Reading is an escape and doesn't always have to be grounded in the harsh realities of life. Thank you, Stephanie, for a great escape! Please give us more from the Cullen universe!

Amanda Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 07:48 PM EST

I am sooo sad this series is over. Stephanie don't take what people say to heart - you are amazing and all of your books brought peace into my life. Breaking Dawn was PERFECT - imprinting and all - how else can everyone win. The shape shifters never would have stayed in the picture otherwise ! I loved the fact that Bella grew up and that they had a baby - it is my dream to grow up and have babies - and if Bella and Edward can do it - I will not give up. Thank you so much Stephanie you are an amazing, talented human being.

jackieeeeeeeeeee Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 06:23 PM EST

the book was AMAZINGGGGGG!!!!! totally unexpected, but amazing none the less :)
everybody won!

nikki Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 06:22 PM EST

I really liked the book but.... Bella having the baby was unexpected. And Jacob imprinting on the baby was weird but i was happy for him.And i didnt really get that feeling like I did with the other books but im glad Edward and Bella can stay together
FOREVER....... and ever

Lisa Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 05:27 PM EST

It wasn't a horrible book but it wasn't part of the series. She changed the story and characters to much, she made a big mistake I think bringing the baby in and having Jacob imprint on the baby was gross and disturbing (yeah I was crazy jealous of you father because I was in love with your mom and I used to dream about her) can anyone say ew!!!! There should have been more action the Vultori scene didn't make sense you're telling me that a power as strong as the Volturi and all they are going to do is shoot jane and alec's power and that's it ridiculous. I'm sorry to say this but it was badly written. I like the other 3 but not this one. Deathly Hallows was rushed but JKR stuck to her characters and her main story SM changed the whole story at the end. It didn't make sense and it shouldn't belong to the series because it has nothing of the rest of the books in it.

Sabie Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 12:03 PM EST

I think the change in characters that everyone is assessing is just them growing up. Yes, the series started with them at 17, but did you think they would act like teens forever? Edward obviously not, but even Bella was bound to be older, she was described as a middle-aged teen throught the series. I can understand how the book may have seemed rushed, to try and put everything she wanted to do into one book. Deathly Hallows had the same feeling. All in all, i loved the book. I loved that Bella blossomed into this strong woman, loved that the tables were turned on Edward and he was now closer to what she was at the beginning of their relationship. There were many points in the book where it could've stopped and i would've been just as happy, but i'm glad she didn't. I wanted my happy ending, and if we can't get it in books then where else?

cassi Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 10:41 AM EST

I loved the other books in the series but i have to agree with whoever said this book was missing something. In the first three books it is a love story that is full of mystery. In this book it starts out with the couple in love but then during the pregnancy bella and edward don't really seem to be in love. (besides the fact that he is worried about her) I felt that the pregnancy part was wayyy to long. It was a great surprise to add in but i felt that it dragged on. I would have rather had the confrontation between the two vampire clans be longer. Over all i loved the series but i wish that SM would have changed the entire thing of jacob imprinting on Nessie. That is just supper weird.. (oh by the way i was in love with your mom before you came..) I was a little let down by the story with the exception to the beginning. I am not going to bash the entire series though because the other three books were amazing.

kiki Mon, Aug 4, 2008 at 04:31 AM EST

when I read breaking dawn I didnt get that same feeling ,it was different.
I dont like to think of edward as a dad, its kind of weird. And the characters were kind of different and I dont mean bella turning into a vampire, it just had a whole new feel to it.

ilse Sun, Aug 3, 2008 at 09:59 PM EST

ummm...i actually liked breaking dawn! i never xpected the baby...but it was a nice twist....all the love between edward and bella..i think its nice they had a baby! i loved the book!=]

Isabel Sun, Aug 3, 2008 at 04:48 PM EST

I finished Breaking Dawn very quickly like everyone I was so excited to finally put an end to the waiting especially after meeting Stephanie at the concert! And then it hit me that deep down I got everything I wanted my happy ending just not the one I expected! I love the series and I still love the writing but a part of me does not believe SM wrote it. It hurts to say because I love these characters this story and i believe in them. Maybe we are so hurt in life we expect the worst and never hope for the best anymore but I know that wasn't it ! But this story just didn't match Edward and Bella I felt like I was reading a completely different book. Once again don't get me wrong I won't dare say its bad bc it wasn't and i know this bc very few books and writing styles effect me the way this series has by making me cry for not wanting to let it go. But there's something about this book that i felt and feel like it was missing.

bri Sun, Aug 3, 2008 at 07:06 AM EST

of all the idea of bella becoming a vampire ,bella had to be in a life or death situation because she was having a child. ugh. I didnt even see that coming.

Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 11:12 PM EST

Breaking Dawn?
Read at your own risk. Don't have too many high expectations.

Raven Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 06:59 PM EST

Wow, I was at the concert last night and it was amazing!
We waited a few hours in line, but it was well worth it. I'm glad that we got such a great standing spot!
Meeting Stephenie was such an honor. I stopped breathing. I told her that she was really pretty :]
I loved meeting her, even though the line was a pain. It was so long, and everybody was pushing!
Breaking Dawn was so good. I started crying when they thought Bella was dead.
I'd recommend that you go to the concert if it's in you area!

crazy that bella has a baby huh. I DIDN T SEE THAT ONE COMING

hlizmarie Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 09:45 AM EST

I was at the concert in NY last night. It was great fun to see Stephenie in person and to hear her banter with Justin about the music. She's such a funny, smart, and down-to-earth person. I was surprised it was so short but I guess with the book not out yet they had to keep it limited. I think the others may be more interesting since she'll finally be able to talk about the book. Don't get me wrong, it was great fun and I was glad I went but it went by too fast. And the line to get her signature took hours. Unfortunately I had to catch a train so I couldn't stay. Would have liked to see her up close but all in all it was a great time. Can't wait to start the book today.

wishiwasBella Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 09:04 AM EST

noooooo! i can't see the concert:-(
Anyway, Edward is the best! c ya jakob

maggie Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 08:04 AM EST

i was at the concert last night, and it was teh most amazing thing ever.
leaving to get autographs, was a KILLER. but it was totally and completely worth every second.

Jax Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 07:11 AM EST

Its sad that the fans in the UK have to wait 2 more days for the book to come out. just think yourself lucky. i have to wait extra for the my copy.
The twilight series is amazing! and PETER i've read anne rice. she's full of crap! i didn't stay hooked on interview with a vampire, like I did with the entire TW Saga. Edward Cullen is a work of genius.
I can't get enough Stephenie Meyer! She's amazing!

sara Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 06:33 AM EST

I didn't go to the concert but I watched it online and I thought it was completely awesome. The music made it so much better and just let you connect with Stephenie and the characters on a whole different level. Books signings won't be the same after knowing how much better they can be!

annababy. Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 06:08 AM EST

ohemgee! even though i didn't go to the concert i got to see it online! but i cant wait to get the book. this is so exiting! ahhhhhhh! :D

I waited in line for 6 hours in the heat of city and it was well worth it !!!!! I went and I got to speak to stephanie touch her hand as she handed me a signed book plate tell her how amazing she is and heard justin sing up close like he was singing just for me!!!!! It was better than any concert I ever went to even waiting in line was great twilight fans are the best people in the world!!!!!!! A HUGE shout out to KIM from MTV she is the best interviewer and the coolest nicest person ever!!!!! She rode on the bus with the twilight fans on the way to the MIdnight release party at Borders in Penn Plaza and she couldn't be nicer!!!!!! DazzleMe Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 12:34 AM EST

i thought the concert was great...the songs from blue october made me think of Edward and Jacob right away and now i see why it did the same for Stephenie..Stephenie Rocks!!!!

Courtney Sat, Aug 2, 2008 at 12:20 AM EST

I WAS THERE!!! I just got home and am holding the autograph in my hand, it was one of the best expiriences of my life! Stephenie was amazing! There were so many fans there that you could not breath at all and it was almost a constant roar of screaming! Everything was just absolutly wonderfull! I have not gotten the book yet, but i am more then certain that it will be great, more then great, fantastic!!!

allison Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 11:26 PM EST

I had no desire to watch it. I would have been at the midnight release party if i hadnt come down with the flu. music has nothing to do with the book...and by the previous posts, it looked like a bust anyways.

Jim Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 07:48 PM EST

Hey, I'd love to take myself out of the Twilight hype, but EW won't let me. And I got news for everybody that says Twilight is happening. It already happened when Buffy met Angel.

Jessica Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 06:16 PM EST

Jim, I am surprised to hear someone tell EW to stop trying to make Twilight happen when it acutally IS happening...and it seems that EW is just jumping on the Twilight bandwagon to go for a wonderful ride. Twilight was obviously not constructed in the EW magazine room, it came from a wonderful author who tells wonderful stories with vivid characters that million and millions of people have fallen in love with. No, it's not going to win a pulitzer prize, but it is going to take you on a journey and help you escape from reality. I myself, a 26 year old, will be attending a midnite release party by myself to get my copy of Breaking Dawn.

Annie Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 06:11 PM EST

umm
Is is just my computer or is the concert not playing because its suppose to be right now. Or so I thought

Amanda Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 06:09 PM EST

Amanda Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 06:06 PM EST

K!! It should be showing now right???

leeloo Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 05:07 PM EST

i avoided these books like the plague until last week...i got sucked into Twilight and read all three books within a matter of days. i will be dragging my 36-year old bones down to be among the masses at my local bookstore to purchase my copy at 12:01 tonight and will probably not sleep until it's finished. Meyer has presented an enjoyable series of books based on VERY strong characters and i think it's these characters that keep us begging for more.

DanOregon Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 04:07 PM EST

I don't know who is handling the PR for this Meyer chick, but they are earning their money. Never heard of her before this week and EW is flooding this site with stories about her on a daily basis. What gives?

Pete Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 03:49 PM EST

I cannot wait for this thing to be over so I can stop having this crap shoved down my throat by EW.

Her book is published by a subsidiary of Time Warner, the guys that own EW (as another poster has mentioned). That's the only reason this tripe is getting pushed so hard.

so please, let this concert come and go so we can be done with this crap.

Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 02:51 PM EST

Jim- Guess what? TWILIGHT IS HAPPENING!! People love these books and I think its great EW is covering them so much. I couldn't get tickets to this event, but really wanted to go, so I think it is great I can see it some way. EW is helping the many Twilight fans, and if you don't like it, stop looking at the Twilight stuff and look at something else. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean other people shouldn't be able to enjoy it.

Peter - Have you read the books? If not, I wouldn't talk. If you have, I respect your opinion but think you are wrong. Whats so bad about a book that is fun to read and has morals in it?

MSF Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 02:09 PM EST

I picked up Twilight about 2 months ago, having no idea that it was such a phenomenon, and fell in love with it. It's not highbrow literature, but Stephenie Meyer sure knows how to tell a story and develop compelling characters. I'm a 44 year old mom, and my 18 year old daughter is crazy about the books too. We'll be on line at Borders tonight at 12:01! I think the EW coverage has been terrific!

To Andy H Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

The publishers of Twilight and all are Little Brown who is part of Hachette Publishers which is Time Warner owned which owns EW.

There's your answer as to why there's so much hype.

anr Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 01:01 PM EST

I'm a librarian in New York and 2 years ago when New Moon cam out Stephenie came to my library, at my invitation to do a reading and signing. We had about 150 people show up. So now just 2 years later I go from seeing her for free and having her using my staff bathroom to paying $35 to see her at the Nokia theater. Why? Obvuously because I am crazy obsessed and I am just that big of a fan.

Reiko Katsura Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:58 PM EST

I'm ecstatic for the release of the fourth book! I will definitey be attending the Midnight party at Borders, waiting on line at 12:01 to get my hands on the much anticipated final book of this incredible series.
It would have been awesome to attend the concert, though. It's a shame that I found out about it too late...and it's in NY, no less! *Sigh* Blue October is an amazing band!

anne Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

Having been a fan of these books for years now its weird to see the hype machine roll into action and suddenly have the books and characters be everywhere. still i will at the theater tonight and getting my copy at midnight. To the naysayers, back in the day most thought HP was a waste of time too and it was just for kids. NO one thought it would blow like it did but it did anyway without much help from the naysayers and the same will be true of Breaking Dawm and the Twilight movies. The more you dump on it the bigger it will get. We twilighters are an ornery bunch.

Bri Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:44 PM EST

Books-a-millon is having a "breaking dawn party" from 10 to midnight, and i will definitely be there. i'm extremely excited about breaking dawn. these books just give you a reason to smile, their so fun and interesting! i don't know how you can say their horrible with the amazing numbers meyer gets.

Andy H Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:41 PM EST

Seriously is EW getting a cut of the merchandising because every two minutes there's an article promoting, extoling and pretty much ramming Stephanie Meyer and Twilight down our throats.

I liked the first two books, the third was a disappointment and have already ordered the last.

While I can appreciate fan devotion, this is getting a bit extreme.

What are we going to be subjected to in December when the movie comes out?

God help us.

chip 2 Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:25 PM EST

Chip--I was going to say the same thing! That is Vincent Van Ghoul from Scooby Doo! Geez!

ebza Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 12:02 PM EST

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Ep Sato Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 11:39 AM EST

PS Chip, Sorry but I didn't see you'd already made note of this. Chip 1, EP Sato and Adrienne Day 0

Ep Sato Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 11:38 AM EST

Adrianne Day wins a no-prize for missing an obvious pop culture reference here.

That cartoon is of Vincent Price's character "Vincent Van Ghoul" from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. That ain't a cartoon of any old Vampire, that's the main man himself playing a Warlock. BIG difference.

Lindsay Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 11:38 AM EST

I cannot wait to read Breaking Dawn! So much so that I will be waiting in line at a local bookstore tonight at midnight for one of the first copies! Therefore, I hope you will be replaying the concert series in the future, EW, for those of us who are diehard fans and won't be home tonight at all!!

TWfan Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 11:13 AM EST

These books are amazing and I am a 36 year old single mother. Bella and Edward took me to a fantasy world that i loved and enjoyed if only to get away from the real world problems of today's society. There is nothig wrong with these books. I have recommended the series to several of my friends. For the people that commented that have bad things to say get a life!

Marine Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 10:44 AM EST

Yea! I am so happy this is the final book! I am so sick of hearing about this crap. Oh wait! Now we have to hear about the crap movies. First Harry Potter. Now this. And then there are the people who buy into this and have to drone on about it. Ughh! Garbage in, garbage out.

Also To Jim Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 10:43 AM EST

Thank you thank you thank you.

Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 09:41 AM EST

I will not be going to the event because while I like the books and buy the books, I don't like the idea of paying to meet an author. Most authors do q & a's and autograph signings for free.

To the person who said EW used to have standards: What? It's a pop culture magazine. Half the stuff they cover is crap.

Lexie Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 09:37 AM EST

wats funny is that every one of my friends keeps talkin about if bella and edward are going to do it.
Me, i just love the story.
It gets you hooked once you start reading it. Im still kinda sad it gonna end so i really hope Breaking dawn has a good ending.

Amy Leigh Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 09:22 AM EST

Well, Jim, the main reason why I even went out and picked up the Twilight books is because of EW so I'm thinking you're wrong in that department. Personally, I'm very excited for the last book. All of the books have been a joy to read and the characters are written so vividly that they seem to come to life and jump off the page. If you can suck it up and get past the fact that they're "young adult" fiction, I think a lot of people would enjoy them.

To Jim Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 09:18 AM EST

WORD.

TwilightFan Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 08:41 AM EST

I THINK IT'S GREAT AND WISH I COULD GO !!!!

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT LIVE THOUGH BUT I'M SO HAPPY WITH EW AND COVERING TWILIGHT !!!!

Kelly Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 08:07 AM EST

Well said Tiff. People try so hard to be above anything mainstream that they tend to miss out on true entertainment. True, the books are for young adults but so was Harry Potter and I can't count the number of adults who enjoyed that series. People need to stop taking their entertainment so seriously. All it is about is getting away from our own realities for a couple of hours. Is there really anything wrong with that? And for the record why wouldn't EW jump on the Twilight band wagon? They are and ENTERTAINMENT magazine and that is what they cover. Duh!

Jim Fri, Aug 1, 2008 at 07:43 AM EST

EW, stop trying to make Twilight happen! It's not going to happen!.

Ann Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 11:38 PM EST

Peter, Meyer's books are intended for a young adult audience. Just because her books aren't a vampire sex-fest doesn't mean that she is shoving mormonism down your throat. It's simply inappropriate for the age group. If you don't like the books, then don't read them. Don't try to expose the rest of us to your unnecessary hatred.

Tiffany Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 11:33 PM EST

Wow. I see a lot of vitriol for Twilight. I am a literary chauvinist, so I spent years avoiding these books based on the same assumptions. However, after finally succumbing to reading the first book (it was a gift) I have to say that the series is truly a very enthralling work of fiction. The characters are not teen dramatists with their own agendas, its truly a very enigmatic story with some very classical values displayed as the underlying themes. It is no Old Man and the Sea or Pride and Prejudice; it is entertaintment. But, it is entertainment done well. It's pure fun, so truly, do lighten up.

Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 11:27 PM EST

I, for one, am terribly sick of hearing about twilight. Come on EW, you used to have standards.

Katie Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 08:43 PM EST

twilight is so cool, though i cant go to the release i plan on getting a copy from my aunt

Peter Thu, Jul 31, 2008 at 08:02 PM EST

These book are just more, terribly written, diet anne rice, goth kid crap with clumisly inserted mormon values.

"oh, I'm a vampire, I drink blood and kill to protect my friends, but uh...no premarital sex! Thats bad kids!"

...complete trash.

MUSE! MUSE! MUSE! Such a Great band! listening to Black holes and Revelations makes the reading experience 100% better! I'm so glad that they're going to be a part of the movie...

That's not a goofy cartoon vampire! That's Vincent Van Ghoul! I was all pumped up about news about The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. Twilight? How disappointing.
