Happy 41st Birthday, Ron Livingston!

Jun 5, 2008, 09:54 AM | by Mandi Bierly

Categories: 'Bones', Celebrity Birthdays

If I could give him the gift of a career, I would. But he'll just have to settle for me putting this out into the ether: Wouldn't he be great in a guest arc on Bones? He's already played FBI for Fox once (a hostage negotiator in Standoff, below). Physically, he's totally Brennan's type. And how much fun would it be to watch him out-Booth Booth?

P.S. All 18 episodes of Standoff are on Hulu.

Sounds like somebody's got a case of the birthdays.

I totally agree that Ron would make a great guest on Bones. As a fan of that show it would wonderful to see as well as maybe a reprise of the Standoff character, but you can't have Matt without Emily. Maybe Matt, Emily, Booth and Brennan can work an ongoing case together. That would definitely make this fan happy!

Oh please......................I can't believe any Bones fans would support him as a re-occuring guest now on Bones. They did not support the fellow FOX TV show Standoff or him when he was in it. As a matter of fact they feared it taking the place of Bones. To invite him as a guest now is an insult. Standoff was a quality show that had fantastic potential, fox refused to support it or the actor it was supposedly written for. Ron needs to run and run very fast from anything that fox does.

His career was not helped by that network at all. One guest appearance on House and a couple of voice overs for Family Guy does not make a person "marketable" to the big screen or otherwise. He has potential beyond "B" list.

A return to a network or broadcast entity like HBO (Band of Brothers, Sex and the City) might get him back in the public view again.

He's a great actor who needs to look elsewhere than fox, or at least another network if he is going to do TV.

I liked Standoff. I was sad it was cancelled.

Great suggestion Mandi! Maybe as a new doc for her to work with?

I will watching anything with him in it. Including Little Black Book.

Happy Birthday!

I adore "Office Space," and I was with him as Jack Berger until the Post-It incident. But the truth is that I could never hate someone I share a birthday with.

Happy Birthday Ron!

I'm writing it here because I'm out of Post-its.

Also, Martha, Livingston was actually on "House" a few years ago and he was really great. He played an arrogant, do-gooder doctor House had to heal.

Livingson is always such a solid and appealing actor. Awesome in Swingers, Office Space, and Band of Brothers. Hopefully he can find the right tv show or more consistent movie work.

Martha Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 09:29 AM EST

I'm with you on the "Bones" arc, Mandi...although nothing will ever top "Office Space." Or for a change of pace, how about a long guest arc on "House"? He and House could be new BFFs now that House and Wilson are on the outs.

I do think he would be great on Bones, but honestly I would watch Ron Livingston do just about anything. (Except "Little Black Book"... I refused to see that on principle.)
Did anyone else think "Standoff" was pretty enjoyable? I mean, it was a FOX procedural, but I thought the characters and plots were reasonably interesting, and the crisis negotiation angle was unique. Plus, Ron Livingston and Gina Torres!!! C'mon, FOX.
