It's true, y'all. For the third year, the USA Rock Paper Scissors League Championship will be televised — this time as an hourlong Best Damn Sports Show Period special on Fox Sports in October. The event will take place the weekend of June 20 in Las Vegas. (Watch 2007's awesomely bad title match below.)

The 2008 winner gets $50,000, plus a trip to Beijing for the Summer Olympics. In China, he (or she?) will represent the U.S. in the inaugural International Rock Paper Scissors Federation Championship, competing against RPS champions from Canada, Guam, Hong Kong, Ireland and Malaysia. (Occasionally, you've gotta love this crazy world we live in.)

On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being definitely), how likely would it be for you to stop and watch a RPS event were you to stumble upon it while channel surfing? (If you enjoy watching curling, like me, you're at least an 8.) And does anyone reading this actually belong to the USARPSL? We need details...

I just ordered a sweet Jim Halpert shirt from www.PantherTees.com. They have tons of stuff from The Office. They said not to tell anyone, but here is a 10% discount code, pts10 (it is case sensitive, so copy and paste it). Enjoy!

Ok- there is so much to say I can't even begin... I love this! The announcers' schtick is too much! "Rock tie!" I also love that this is apparently sponsored by Bud Light... I guess the beer industry wants to affirm that RPS can be macho! I will totally check on this during the Olympics! How funny!!! Best line: "The paper heard 'round the world!"

Definitely a 10. What I really want to know is, how did I not know about this already, and why am I not a member?!

I'm definitely a 9. And I love curling. This is awesome, and indeed, makes the world a sunnier place for existing.

Wow. That is ABSOLUTELY amazingly nerdy, and I love it!! I don't know how to deal with all the patterns, but I've gotten pretty good at reading certain people at the game - namely, my sister. She's hopeless at it against me.

Are you kidding?! 11!! True story - a former student of my husband's placed third in the Rock Paper Scissors World Championship in Toronto a few years back. Literally one of the nicest kids we've every known, so...no hatin'!

this just proves that ANYTHING can be a sport on ESPN...one day watching ESPN, will be a sport on ESPN (duration, degree of difficulty, etc)

I meant to say "sleeves" earlier...and I meant to also point out the slow-mo replay as well. WOW.

To answer your question, I'm a (Bruno Tonioli-style) 10! I'd at least HAVE to check it out for a few minutes.

I love how the Jim Halpert-looking guy (if Jim were slightly chunky) on the left rolled up his sleeve as if to say "I'm REALLY into this."

I have so many questions. No offense to Guam, but how did a champion from Guam get a seat at the table along with champs from the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, etc.

Most importantly, where the hell was I THE FIRST TWO YEARS this was televised?
