What's Nicole Richie doing on 'Chuck'?

Richiestrahovski_l I'm a bit worried about the news that Nicole Richie has landed a guest spot on a season 2 episode of NBC's Chuck. Not because I think Richie (left) lacks the thespian skills to play the role of a bitchy former classmate of Sarah's who used to torment the future secret agent when they were in high school. (After 27 or so seasons of The Simple Life, playing a Heather shouldn't be much of a stretch.) Rather, I'm worried that the role (according to People) requires her to "kick some butt." Nicole Richie as a buttkicker? I fear Yvonne Strahovski's Sarah (right) will snap her like a twig, and that Adam Baldwin's Casey will pick up the splinters and use them as toothpicks. Still, I'm glad Richie is finding gainful employment. How about you, Chuck fans? Eagerly awaiting or nervously dreading Richie's guest spot?

Seriously, how did she earn a prime time villain spot on network TV, maybe she has talents but isn't there a pay your dues program for junk celebrities.

I was almost pleasantly surprised by her appearance. But then again, how hard could it be for her to play someone who thinks they are better than everyone else?

I thought that Nicole did a great job on Chuck! You go girl!

She really surprised me last night. I thought she displayed some pretty good acting skills. Slightly over the top, which is perfect for a Chuck villain.

I'm kind of hoping that Casey will kick her ass.

Truthfully, I don't think her guest spot will be that bad. Of course, I'm more interested in John Larroquette's guest spot than anyone's.

whats the episode going to be titled?

Chuck Vs. the over privileged drug addled floozie?

Steve Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 09:45 AM EST

Chuck rules, she sucks. I don't think one guest shot will touch this show, it will continue to be great.

Britt Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 08:13 AM EST

*whimper* Dreading. Is Chuck jumping the shark already? Ugh. Why??? Why are these Hollywood 'Socialites' STILL being foisted off on the rest of us as though they were famous for being talented??? Just go away already!

Laura Fri, Jun 27, 2008 at 01:47 AM EST

I'm thrilled, only because it means Chuck is coming back. Sometimes I still worry that it's just my imagination and that it got canceled, since the strike meant we only got 13 episodes. I just can't wait to see Team Chuck back on my television screen!

Wow.
Im so excited.
I think Nicole Richie is amazing.
She's me idol :)
Im sure she will do great.
Can't wait to watch.

not too thrilled. But I guess since Britney didn't ruin "How I Met Your Mother," Mary Kate didn't ruin "Weeds," and Lindsay didn't ruin "Ugly Betty," there's a slim chance she won't ruin "Chuck."

Raven_Moon Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 10:36 PM EST

Yuck. First Paris Hilton on "My Name is Earl" & now Nicole Ritchie on "Chuck." What's with the lame stunt casting on my fave shows?

chara101 Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 07:37 PM EST

i think this will b interesting to see how sarah deals with her emotional side and to over come this fear and it will show that sarah got feeling. then maybe that will allow chuck to help her and more bonding moments for her and chuck because this is what chuck got to do all the time. so i think having Nicole Richie on the show is good. that helps the rating and it might tell us y sarah is sooo cold.because Nicole Richie isn't a big bad guy that she can fight with her strength.

Curious, but unsure...

Liddy Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 05:32 PM EST

Nervously dreading...

Qute Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 04:38 PM EST

I'm leery at best. I've been eagerly awaiting the new season of Chuck and I hope this doesn't totally blow.

Rose Tyler Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 04:21 PM EST

I'm not thrilled. It sounds a bit like a ratings stunt.

chrome Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 02:04 PM EST

I'm just worried that Chuck is now falling victim to stunt casting, like so many other shows these days. If Richie were cast solely for her acting talent, and her celebrity had no bearing on the choice, we wouldn't have gotten a press release.

dwight Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 01:44 PM EST

I'm not eagerly awaiting, but Richie might actually get me to tune into this not-really-worth-my-time show.

Snarf Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 01:36 PM EST

After years of Paris Hilton being in everything (or is that the other way around) I say lets see if Nicole can show some acting chops (playing herself on SFU dosen't count)

Crystal Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 01:35 PM EST

I think Nicole can maaaybe pull off the butt-kicking. I'm not eager or dreading her, more just neutral.

Melinda Clarke & Michael Clarke Duncan, though - YAY! I am definitely eagerly awaiting the return of the series in general.

Lyn Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 01:33 PM EST

She might be a worthy foe of Chuck.
