Keeping YouTube terrorist-free

May 21, 2008, 10:44 AM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Current Affairs, Hollywood Hate Crime, Ouch! That was my ear!, Viral Video!!!

So, according to this article in Federal Computer Week, Sen. Joe Lieberman has urged YouTube to pull down videos posted by Islamist terrorist groups, as well as to tighten its submission policies. And YouTube has politely told the senator to go stuff it. Say, did you even know that there were terrorist videos on YouTube? My favorites include the one where the baby panda sneezes so hard it explodes, the one where a training camp full of terrorists dances in formation to Michael Jackson's "Beat It," and the one with that song "Chocolate Rain of Death." Of course, watching these viral vids may infect you with the urge to take up arms against the government and your fellow citizens, but that's a small price to pay for free streaming entertainment.

Heh. If there's any video I'm worried about that could encourage terrorism, it's the one below. A pampered Hollywood starlet being chauffeured around, having her hair and makeup done, snapping gum, being nuzzled by Salman Rushdie, and destroying a perfectly good Tom Waits song — why, it's enough to make anyone hate America.

2 with a Air plane that weighs almost 200 tons would cause the floors to collapse to one side (pouring the kerosene out the side of WTC before It could ever get the center structure hot enough to fall) but the center structure would support the weigh of a 767 many time over. Also by what I seen the sprinkler system of the WTC had to be working because that fire should have been much bigger especially If It was going to cause the WTC to collapse but Instead the fire was Isolated to the aria where the 767 hit & Right a B-25 In 1945 that hit the Empire State building was much smaller than a 767 or 707 somewhere around 20 tons. & What does Computer design mean that's the hype They use to sell race Car cams a Computer only does what Someone programs It to do.

Steve Thompson Mon, Jul 14, 2008 at 12:07 AM EST

1 I have been Our mistake to say melt Instead of bend, the Steel In the center structure of WTC could not get get hot enough to bend. The center structure of the WTC had 47 vertical Steel beams each one probably weighed more than the 767 they were box which Some call tube beams meaning the core was hollow which makes It lighter but not weak. I have a welder & know how to weld Steel does not absorb heat as much as Aluminum, Aluminum melts at a lower temperature but Steel stays hottest where It Is heated therefore the heat could not have got the center beams from the middle to the lower floors of the WTC hot enough to cause them to bend. The WTC were designed to survive a 707 crash 707 & B-52 were the largest Air planes at that time the 707 weighed 168 tons loaded carried 23,000 of kerosene & cruised at 607 MPH the 767 that hit the WTC weighed 197.5 tons loaded carried 24,000 kerosene cruised at 530 MPH the floors of the WTC were a little on the weak side so It would be easy to see---

t3hdow Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 05:03 PM EST

Steve, did you read a single thing I posted? The beams didn't collapse because it melted from the fire. It was weakened by the fire to cause the beams to collapse, since it loses strength past 1000 C (the fire reached over 1100 C). Also, your 'bullet to house' analogy isn't a fair comparison. You can't compare a bullet to a kamikazing jet, or a house to a skyscraper. They're utilized different from each other. As for the bomber going through the Empire State Building, it would be valid if it wasn't 1945 or the ESB. Modern engineers use computers to help design efficient buildings at the lowest cost & the fewest materials possible. In comparison to sturdier older structures, newer ones are much more susceptible to outside trauma. The WTC is a victim of such practices. Future designers are urged to use the superior built ESB as a model for constructing skyscrapers for the very incident you listed.
This link covers what I stated in detail:
http://vincentdunn.com/wtc.html

Steve Thompson Mon, May 26, 2008 at 09:15 PM EST

Now how can anyone come up with a plain to destroy the WTC but make It look like Jets caused It not knowing that some Technical People would figure It out? In The Holy Bible evil spirits are also called dumb spirits.

Steve Thompson Mon, May 26, 2008 at 08:54 PM EST

more damage, As Is said It would be like shooting a house with a big gun It would put a hole In the house but the house would not fall, the hardest part of the Impact would be the wings hitting the center beams and the beams are many times stronger and heaver than the wings & If something did hit the WTC hard enough to cause major damage the Buildings would be leaning diagonally. The explosions could have been cause by Oxygen tanks & Air conditioners & spray containers which might be powerful enough to blow out some walls but would not have enough power to seriously damage the Steel beams. In 1945 a B-25 mid size bomber Air plane hit the 79th floor of the Empire state building so hard the one of the Engines went all the way through the Building and caught the Building on fire but the Empire state building Is still there.

Steve Thompson Mon, May 26, 2008 at 08:24 PM EST

to melt In around 30 minutes even If the fire was hot enough to melt Steel on the floors where the fire was the the Steel beams running the length or the buildings would not have got hot enough to melt not only that the Fuel would have poured out the sides of the Buildings before It would have enough time to get hot enough to melt the Steel beams, Some of the fuel may have poured In to the basement the fire burning at high altitude could draw Air from lower floors to make the flame hotter but In the basement the fire with limited Oxygen would be cooler & We know for a fact not ever floor was on fire which would have been requited to melt the Steel beams enough to make the Buildings fall. The WTC had a huge center beams and even If there was the pancake or domino effect with the floors collapsing the center Beams would have still stood and would have fell horizontally and Not vertically. The Jets hitting the Building It would not matter If them Jets were flying 1000 MPH It could not do-

Steve Thompson Mon, May 26, 2008 at 07:50 PM EST

I Am just speaking from a technically the 2 Jets did not bring down the WTC buildings I used to do a little bid of Drag racing so I know a little bit about physics and a top professional Drag racer would even know more because that Is Their job dealing with extreme crash effect physics that Is why I say ask a Drag racer what happen . You can shoot a house with a big gun It will put a hole In the house but will not cause the house to fall I have heard of trailer houses that burned down and got so hot that some tools Inside were melted together I do not have any Information If a trailer house got hot enough to melt the frame You would have to ask the fire Department about that. But In order to get the Steel beams hot enough to melt requires a very controlled set up where there would be a forced Oxygen supply. The WTC buildings Steel beams weigh many tons (safe to say) of over a 1/4 Inch thick and there Is no way Jet Fuel which Is kerosene could have got Steel beams that mass hot enough-

t3hdow Thu, May 22, 2008 at 06:25 PM EST

Oh and I overlooked this detail of the 'steel doesn't need to melt before weakening' tidbit in the middle of writing. Steel's melting point is 1525 C and jet fuel burns around 1100 C. Even though the steel never melted, it starts to weaken once it's gets past the 1000 C mark. There is no real evidence of melting steel at any point of the WTC collapse. This article explains why (under #7): http://wtc.nist.gov/pubs/factsheets/faqs_8_2006.htm

t3hdow Thu, May 22, 2008 at 06:15 PM EST

To answer the rest of your questions, how can the other buildings not be harmed? Uh, because even with all the dust and debris flying outward, it's not enough to create a domino effect. WTF, this isn't Godzilla. The bone fragments could have easily come from the exploding planes scattering them or even the dust kicking them off from [WTC] buildings to surrounding buildings. Finally, what kind of force could crush steel, glass and concrete all over Manhattan? Again, the pancake effect, along with the debris spraying or falling all around the area. Ad before you ask, I did get a glimpse of the video. However, once the vid uttered the line of 'melted steel', I'm convinced it's a hoax for all the reasons I mentioned before. I don't buy anything you mentioned at all.

t3hdow Thu, May 22, 2008 at 06:02 PM EST

Now to 911 Facts:
First off, many engineers stated the WTC collapse can be done without explosives. It was the fire that came from the impacting planes that started the chain reaction I described. The trusses' steel doesn't need to be in melting point to be weakened, so the worn down floors caused by the kamikazing planes can still fall on top of one another (and on the subject of molten steel, the metal on ground zero could easily be aluminum, which has a much lower melting point). Also, never EVER assume any eye witness testimonials as fact. For all the firefighters knew, the caving floors could've been the 'explosions' they heard, OR it could have come from something else besides a bomb (like combusted transformers). Also, do you have any idea how hard it is to rig enough bombs to destroy a skyscraper of that magnitude without being discovered at any point? That's a hard sell. If it was that easy, the WTC would've been taken down with that van bombing in 1993.

t3hdow Thu, May 22, 2008 at 05:30 PM EST

Oh tina. We can argue about the ethical qualms with abortion all day, but not once did you offer any reasonable solution to this issue or problems brought by cutting off abortion. Like for one, who's going to support the child's upbringing after it's born? It ain't the government and adoption's not perfect either. Are you willing to lend a helping hand? I thought not. Also, you never mentioned the health risks this might cause. Even with illegal abortions, the business will merely be pushed underground, which is the breeding grounds for risky behavior. Also, some third-trimester abortions were done to save some mothers' lives at the rare instance carrying the baby is a health risk. Should they die instead of carrying the child? What about rape victims? It's unfair to suggest they have to keep a child, based off uncontrollable events. Until you've been in that kind of situation and/or can see it from perspectives beyond yours, don't spout off that every pro-choicer is a terrorist.

tina Thu, May 22, 2008 at 03:35 PM EST

Whatever. It's just sad to think people can't see the truth even when it's right in front of them.
And the insults are totally unnecessary....just lame and childish. Not to worry, I won't bother you any further.

jj11 Thu, May 22, 2008 at 01:17 PM EST

Tina, Tumors are living things also. Should we not get rid of those in our bodies? Now, I personally would never get an abortion because I believe that it is wrong. However, I don't want teh government in my ovaries or anyone else. 50 million is sad, if it is an accurate figure, but I see 50 million less neglected/abused kids. I work as a teacher in a ghetto and I see what having unwated kids is like every day. You can call me a terrorist all you want. It's your right, that's what's great about this country. Just as I can say that not knowing what you do, I have a feeling that you are an unsatisfied, overweight, hate mongering housewife who needs to get a job and a life. Worry about yourself. I bet you are not perfect either.

tina Thu, May 22, 2008 at 12:32 PM EST

Spoken by a true terrorist. I don't care what you do with your body. But I do when that body has a living being attached to it. Go, uterus and all, to youtube on abortion.
No, forget it. You're a coward.

jj11 Thu, May 22, 2008 at 12:17 PM EST

To tina. Please stop. Don't tell me what i can or can't do with my body. You and the rest of those pro lifers are NOT God. So don't have an abortion if you are against them. Just leave my uterus out of it.

jj11 Thu, May 22, 2008 at 11:28 AM EST

Eric F. I am glad to see that you have sense of humor. Must be the only sense you have.

tina Thu, May 22, 2008 at 10:36 AM EST

All of you ranting about terrorism, Islam, etc. What about the Government funded terrorists who open up shop every day in your communities. Yeah, I'm talking about Planned Parenthood and abortion. Free speech and free choice have been the cause of the murder of over 50 million innocent babies, not blobs, in America alone.
Every minute, every day. So don't talk to me about Bin Laden. When you can't even recognize murder in your own neighborhood, this country will continue to decline.
And if you have any guts at all, you'll type in 'abortion' on YouTube and see what real terrorism is.

911 FACTS Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:48 AM EST

watch this before giving your opinion:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8172271955308136871
.
the media and government scientists failed to explain more than 100 questions ASKED BY THE VICTIMS.
.
911 IS A LIE to create a terrorist threat and make war.
and then since september 2001, the MEDIA speaks about "terrorist", "terrorism", "al qaeda" EACH DAY: THEY scary you! and even if there was NO attack on the US since 9/11, they make you scared > THIS is "terrorism"

so watch this video which show you the facts of the towers collapse: it also explain that why the government scientists lied:

joeforbeets Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:47 AM EST

Wow the moral equivalence some people have so finely developed is pretty amazing. Such lofty idealism. But they were probably asleep when they were in history class for they have not the slightest capability of logic to differentiate one type of speech from another, nor even the desire to be able to. What will they do now that Idol is over???

Here you go idealists, defend this - http://youtube.com/watch?v=B7C9fpl4sV0

Do note that google has been notified by many people but I am sure they cannot afford to attend to keeping track of how their systems are used.

I asked my worthless Congress critters to explicitly support Lieberman. But I doubt they will bother, there is no money in it for them. So they can just go back to whatever they were already not doing.

911 FACTS Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:37 AM EST

what about all these firemen, journalists and survivors who were in the towers and say there were explosions in the towers minutes before the collapse?
.
What about WTC 7 ? Why this 47 stories building collapsed in 6 sec (!!!) on 9/11.
Why all the other building around World Trade Center did NEVER collapse? The only buildings to collapse this day were the...7 buildings of the WTC...that's it.
WTC owner got 15+M$ because he attacked his insurance saying there were 2 attacks and not only 1.
.
Why do we see on a lot of photos of steel core column of the buildings perfectly cut with molten steel around the cutting edge in Ground Zero ?
.
How could you explain that more than 500 bones fragments were found on rooftops of buildings around WTC ?
.
What kind of force could pulverize Steel, glass and CONCRETE all over Manhattan ? just a "collapse"?
.
the BBC reported 5 min BEFORE the collapse that the WTC7 had collapsed ! wow...nice

joe Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:30 AM EST

Being from Canada, I never got the whole 'going to war' thing. Seems your country is always at war with someone. I've got a nephew, also a Canuck, who's soon to be stationed in Afghanistan and I'm scared @#%*less for him. It makes you feel powerless. I remember watching on tv, those towers falling, and the realization that I was witnessing the death of thousands. I can't get it out of my mind, even now. I can't imagine what it was like to actually be there.
Anyways, I'm rambling and gtg. Don't lose heart. The bad guys always lose, we just need to be patient.

911 FACTS Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:22 AM EST

Now your theory of each floor collapses on each other one by one is just ridiculous: the towers were 110 floors high and collapsed in only 10 seconds. (you can't deny it). So the speed was the destruction of 11 floors PER SECOND ! 11 floors in 1 second !!! could you realize ?!
You also don't need any scientist or engineer to watch the towers EXPLODING into DUST in 10 sec.
And there are also thousands of architects, scientists and engineers who say that 911 was a controlled demolition (and THEY don't work for the government):
here is a link:
http://www.ae911truth.org/
.
the "scientists" you're talking about work for the government or just try to deny the fact, they CAN'T explain why did the 3 towers collapse in 10 sec.
.
What about the explosions reported in LIVE on US channels (CNN, FOX etc..) by THEIR reporters !!!???

Eric Friedmann Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:21 AM EST

d, everytime I hear somebody bitching about how human rights are being denied to illegal aliens or those of Muslim faith in this country, I don't get mad, but I simply ask them this question: "If you were to get on a plane right now and go over to THEIR country, how much human rights do you think you'd have? Do you think you'd even come home alive?" Nine times out of ten, I get silence from them which I interpret as maybe I hit a good point.

Eric Friedmann Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:18 AM EST

jj11 secretly touches farm animals. I love it, too! Man, this is fun!!!

Eric Friedmann Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:15 AM EST

Hi Joe! No anger on my part. How can I get angry from a bunch of people that use keyboard digits for names? For me, this is all harmless fun. Something to break up my day. Puts a smile on my face.

I don't disagree with your comments, but in my opinion, we have been too calm and too IRrational for the past seven years. In that time, our country has gotten misdirected and weaker; our economy is in the toilet and our soldiers are still not home. Maybe I haven't had the TV on at the right time or I'm reading the wrong periodicals, but I haven't heard one of our candidates raise the subject about how they intend to finally capture (or kill!) Osama Bin laden. The victims and surviving families of 9/11 demand that our government avenge them. This just seems like common sense to me. I swear, there are moments these days when I am actually ashamed to be an American. It's sad.

jj11 Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

Eric Friedman has crabs. God,

I love freedom of speech.

d Thu, May 22, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

i'm really not seeing how this is even an issue. these aren't american citizens posting these videos, therefore not entitled to free speech. And we went to war IN afghanistan, not WITH them; in order to remove an occupying government that was harboring the terrorists. iraq...well as we all know thats a different story.

joe to E. Friedman Thu, May 22, 2008 at 08:43 AM EST

There's a whole lot of anger on this board. That's fine, I can understand that. But we need to remind ourselves that anger is the main ingredient in terrorism. And war-mongering and spewing hatred just compounds the whole mess. I don't have all the answers but "blowing our enemies off the face of the earth" is just going to get a lot more innocents killed. These cowards are adept at hiding. There is no easy solution. Being calm and rational would be a good start though.

Eric Friedmann Thu, May 22, 2008 at 08:15 AM EST

Hey, everybody, listen up - nobody enjoys a good argument more than me. But if you don't even have the balls to give your name, then don't waste my time with your words. They're no better than particles of dust blowing around endlessly in the wind.

t3hdow Wed, May 21, 2008 at 06:39 PM EST

To Eric Friedmann:
The more I read your posts, the more you come off as extremely pretentious. You seem as if EVERY reference to 9/11 or New York getting attacked is an instant grounds to punishment. How about looking at the context more before jumping the gun next time?
Gary Susman's assertion that targeting a commercial website is correct. This is the last thing the government should be doing to prevent terrorism. That's as foolish and unproductive as going after video games to prevent future Columbine/VT-style massacres, just because a few nutjobs claimed Doom or Grand Theft Auto initiated their blood lust. It's censorship to do so. Gary did fail to mention the Youtube chairman removed the videos that broke its rules and regulations, but kept the ones that didn't. Lieberman's stance to go after Youtube seems odd, as the internet's full of other websites that support terrorist activity with far more virility and vitriol. Why is Youtube being punished instead?

t3hdow Wed, May 21, 2008 at 06:32 PM EST

To the people spouting these '9/11 facts', where are all these conspiracy theories coming from? If any of you say Loose Change (which is where I often hear the demolition theory), you need to do more research. Many of these theories have been proven wrong from qualified engineers and physicists. Speaking of which, LC hardly remarked on legitimate proof from professionals (and the few LC did quote recanted their statements later; something LC failed to report). Ask any structural engineer and they can explain to you the pancake effect that caused the towers to fall. Basically, gathering debris from several destroyed floors collapses onto a floor below, and then the one below it, and so on. Also, controlled demolitions are far faster and requires an untraceable amount of explosives to work, very unlike the WTC collapse. Don't believe me? Google "Loose Change Second Edition Viewer Guide" and see for yourself.

michael. kordis Wed, May 21, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

Well, they had videos of Americans being shot by snipers in Iraq;to Youtube's credit, they took that video down;but Lieberman's proposal sounds reasonable;it's an American company masking big money after all.Why should we help our enemies recruit people to kill Americans?

HA HA! Wed, May 21, 2008 at 05:14 PM EST

you don't understand ANYTHING about terrorism. you say "we were attacked by a terrorist nation..." REALLY ? You should KNOW that the terrorists were from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirate... NOT ONE came from Afghanistan. So why don't you start to destroy these countries ?
in Afghanistan, most of the people ARE NOT terrorists or Talibans...
There are also Terrorists living in London, Paris, Berlin, or even New York...should we destroy these towns ? ah ah!
Terrorism is not a matter of "nation'', they can be anywhere.
.
and AGAIN:
THERE IS NO PROOF THAT 9/11 WAS A TERRORIST ATTACK
the collapse of the 3 towers of the World Trade Center (WTC 1, 2 and 7) was a CONTROLLED DEMOLITION.
if you also have any video of a plane crashing the Pentagone, I would be interested.

Eric Friedmann Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:52 PM EST

Maybe I'm a little too simple and black and white about these things, but the way I see it is this: we were attacked by a terrorist nation and the only thing I've wanted to happen since, is for the United States of America to take its revenge by blowing our enemies off the face of the earth. Instead of doing that, we went to war with Iraq, a country that did NOT attack us!

Harry S. Truman knew what to do in August 1945. He did it...twice!

joe Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:47 PM EST

This video is stupid, and I don't get the Rushdie inclusion. It's trying hard to be artsy fartsy but it has absolutely nothing to say.
Who makes these lame videos anyway?
And yeah, youtube needs to straighten out it's act on this one. Terrorism ain't funny.

USA Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:38 PM EST

sorry, my bad...
USA is the GREATEST country in the World

but 9/11 was an inside job

EnoughAlready Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:34 PM EST

Please shut up now.

USA Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:32 PM EST

sorry, I wanted to say: "YOU can't accept that your country is doing something wrong"

USA Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

ah ah! Yes I live in NYC, and yes i respect the USA. Now i'm saying that there are some unexplained things concerning 9/11 (and you can't deny it)...YOU don't understand me; I DON'T support terrorists. What I say is that there is NO PROOF that 9/11 was a terrorist attack. NOT ONE. Saying that the USA have a very bad comportment all over the world is not supporting the terrorism, sorry.
you should better learn what really happened on 9/11 instead of insulting people. You are blind.
and "where is nationalism ?", i hope it's a joke...in NYC I can see at least 20 US flags in a single street, on cars, t-shirt etc...this is exactly the definition of "nationalism". i would say Patriotism. It's not bad, it's just too much.
and people insulting someone else like you, is exactly what nationalism provocs...I can't accept that your country is doing something wrong.
So yes, just keep thinking that WAR is a good thing to be loved in the world, but please stop complaining if people hate you. Thanks

Yup...USA does Kill Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:26 PM EST

Terrorism is awful but until we come to terms with the terror we invoke in the world - USA is really not in a position to dictate to the rest of the world. 911 happens - Bush fraudulently goes to war with Iraq - over 100,000 people die - Exxon makes 10 BILLION dollars a quarter in profit! (yes PROFIT not REVENUE) All the while American "sheep" wear yellow ribbons. The irony of course is that the biggest benefactor of this false war on terror is Saudi Arabia as it profits from $130/barrel...Weren't several 911 terrorist from Saudi Arabia???? The whole thing rings of a greek tragedy.

Eric Friedmann Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:16 PM EST

To ToEF, so I typed "YouTube" by mistake. My "high and mighty" conviction still stands. So kindly BITE ME!

USA Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:16 PM EST

yes, working on image...
and maybe ask yourself why does a lot of people hate the US, and please, don't use the "jealous" excuse...
people in europe don't have ANY reason to be jealous of the US but they still hate the US.
Because, maybe the 1st thing the US should do is respecting Human rights (cf: Guantanamo) and International basic Rights (cf: war in Irak with NO reason...oh! yes ! the "mass destruction weapons"...did you find it ?!)
That's why people hate the US, not because there are 300 fu*k*** terrorists sending some videos on youtube.

tina Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:15 PM EST

I guess when you start talking terrorists, some wingnuts come out of their cages.

To USA KILL Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:14 PM EST

You suck dude, you're out of you're mind. Keep supporting terrorism, and one they you'll end up living in Baghdad or Kabul instead of NYC. You are blaming everything on the US government and taking Muslims' side. This is not right. Were is nationalism ? This is were you live and you gotta show it some respect. Maybe more than some!

J Andrew Wed, May 21, 2008 at 04:06 PM EST

I think it's about time someone stops the terrorist on their campain to make the world hate the US. Maybe nobody in the US will become influenced by those videos but I think it's very likely that other muslims that aren't radical yet are influenced by it.
I'm German and I see that hate every day here in Germany. Our muslim part of the population is growing fast and the more there are the less they try to live peacefully with the rest of us.
Last but not least: Of course your media is corrupt (at least most of it). But so is the media in other countries especially the ones where the roots of the terrorists lie. The biggest problem for you is that you don't have enough support in other countries. So working on your image isn't a bad idea.

USA KILL Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:53 PM EST

Please don't insult me, i didn't insult anyone.
Please just try to explain me why do you think that what I say is wrong: THERE ARE FACTS.
I love the USA (I live in NYC), but they just create terrorism to make war, that's it...and you can't deny what I wrote.
One of he First principe of a "Democracy" is the liberty of saying something different than your own government. So, instead of believing the Media and the government, try to know by yourself what REALLY happens in the world and what happened on 9/11.

to ERIC FRIEDMAN Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

You need to step down from your high and mighty pedestal and learn to read. YouTube REFUSED to take down the terrorist videos when asked. I honestly don't know how you missed that part of Sus' blog. It's what, the 4th or 5th sentence in? Do you just skim the opening lines of paragraphs and base your comments on that?

frank Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:42 PM EST

wow USA KILL.. you're a moron

USA KILL Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:36 PM EST

Well, there are maybe some crazy muslim terrorists saying they want to kill americans, maybe using youtube to promote it...BUT you should realize that USA is ACTUALLY KILLING muslims in Afghanistan and Irak just for OIL and under name of "war against terrorism"...
USA=Terrorism, USA DID 9/11...they are so many evidences to prove it ! and NO evidence of a terrorist attack. Patriotism, racism, fear and MEDIA make you blind.

Jeff Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:27 PM EST

Mass murderers do not have a right to free speech in the US. This would be like allowing Hitler to do a TV show that advocates killing Jews. It is exactly the same. If I posted a video saying to kill muslums. They would probably take it down. Are they 'Al-Jazeera Tube'?!

The execs at You Tube call them 'people with a different point of view'. While this may be true, these people do not want us to be like them. They don't want us to learn their language and wear what they wear. They don't want us to join their mosques and believe as they do. THEY WANT TO KILL US!!! PERIOD!!!

This is not 'another view'. It is poison to the world and it's irresponsible not to make every effort to get rid of it. You Tube knows who these users are. They can afford to have people working to take it off their site.

911 was an inside job Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:21 PM EST

it's not "thermomite". It's Thermite. A powerful explosive used to cut steel columns of buildings for a controlled demolition. A jet fuel fire is not warm enough to make steel melt, and molten steel has been founded at ground zero and WTC7 site.
But there are so many weird things about these collapses!
why the 70 to 90 floors under the impacts did NOT offer ANY resistance to the fall ??? IT WAS A FREE FALL SPEED !
10 seconds for 110 flors is exactly as if you have droped the roof of Twin Towers in...AIR...in NOTHING...but there were at least 80 floors under !!!
the Official Investigation DID NOT explain it. NEVER.
for the VICTIMS of this horrible day, WE SHOULD ASK FOR THE TRUTH

daisyj Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

Okay, so what if they were recruiting videos for the KKK? Or someone screaming "kill the gays" while waving a gun? Would you be fine with leaving those up because YouTube is just "trivial?" Trying to incite people to ethnically or ideologically motivated violence is not protected speech, nor is publicly recruiting for criminal activities.

Steve Wed, May 21, 2008 at 03:10 PM EST

I don't know what this video Is about It has poor Audio but I agree from a technical view the 2 Jets did Not cause the WTC to fall but then again I don't know how thermomite cuts Steel.

Isn't Lieberman the same guy who wants cameras on every street corner?

http://www.aclunc.org/news/opinions/security_cameras_erode_liberties_without_increasing_safety.shtml

John P Wed, May 21, 2008 at 02:48 PM EST

No surprise on Lieberman. He went from running for the Vice President of the United States as a Democrat, to leaving the Democratic party after he lost the nomination to becoming an Independent Senator and now he is shilling for McCain. He is a Republican in practical terms and will probably run under the Republican flag in the next election. Pretty soon he will be in the Knesset.

I frequently visit youtube and I have never seen a terrorist video. I have seen a proliferation of racist and Islamophobic videos. Perhaps Lieberman would like to lobby to have those removed?

Vote Ron Paul Wed, May 21, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

Doesn't this sort of sound like McCarthyism during the communism scare and we all know how that turned out. (If you don't, go read a history book, he was a wacko and was silenced when he accused of communists being in the US Army.) And it's like Creed Committee when all propaganda was directed against the Germans during the War.

rEVOLution.

911 was an inside job Wed, May 21, 2008 at 02:28 PM EST

You should ask yourself and the government the right questions instead of crying and believing the media.

Eric Friedmann Wed, May 21, 2008 at 02:16 PM EST

Gary, I was there, too, standing on the street in SoHo, watching it happen. So kindly save your "violin playing" for someone you can actually impress with it!

Gary Susman Wed, May 21, 2008 at 01:06 PM EST

No, Eric Friedmann, I was not laughing on 9/11. I was in Manhattan, wandering in a daze of abject horror, breathing the acrid smoke, and silently giving thanks for my survival. Seven years later, I'm still here in NYC, and I know what the threats are. And they're not videos on a site everyone thinks of as a clearinghouse for triviality and amateurism. And it's cheap grandstanding for a politician to go after a commercial website (which, not being a school or airline, is free to allow and restrict content as it sees fit) instead of going after, you know, actual terrorists.
To Mel and "To SUSMAN": You're right not to want to hear me sing, but I'm confident in my musical expertise; after all, you don't need to be able to throw a 95-m.p.h. pitch to write about baseball. If I ever do try to foist my vocals on the public, you're free to bash my singing, just as you're free to bash my blogging.

911 inside job Wed, May 21, 2008 at 01:00 PM EST

+ We are still waiting for ANY video of a plane crashing the Pentagone...
+ What happened with WTC 7 building which was not hit by any plane and collapsed in 6.5 seconds on 9/11 at 5:30 pm (47 floors !!!) ???
9/11 IS A BIG LIE

911 inside job Wed, May 21, 2008 at 12:49 PM EST

Well, there is NO proof that 9/11 was a terrorist attack. NO PROOF. And the 2 towers did not collapse just due to the planes. the 110 floors exploded in DUST in only 10 seconds, which represents 11 floors per second.
> that was A CONTROLLED DEMOLITION
STOP LYING WITH TERRORISM.

duh Wed, May 21, 2008 at 11:51 AM EST

It's like telling Dylan to stick with songwriting. Yeah, he's a legend but he's not a great singer. But that didn't stop him from selling out concerts.
Let Johansson have her day. She'll do what all the rest do...get it out of her system and return to what she does best - acting.

mscisluv Wed, May 21, 2008 at 11:30 AM EST

I think Scarlett is a talented actress, but her singing sounds horrible here.

To SUSMAN Wed, May 21, 2008 at 11:02 AM EST

These critics are out for blood when an actor takes a stab at singing. And so are we. If you like them fine. If you don't, then stop trying to convince everyone to agree with you. You're no expert.

Nix Wed, May 21, 2008 at 10:55 AM EST

Susman is never in good taste. He is sincere, though, I give him that. Defending the existence of critics requires a formidable commitment to ... um ... principles? yeah, i'll go with principles.

mel Wed, May 21, 2008 at 10:52 AM EST

Eric, I think Susman was being 'sarcastic'. Perhaps not in good taste.
Anyway, this video was a convoluted mess, as are most videos. And I'm not hating on Scarlett for trying something new. She's not horrible. She sounds like a cross between Leonard Cohen and Cher.
Now if Susman starts singing, run for the hills!

Nix Wed, May 21, 2008 at 10:51 AM EST

Ugh, Salman Rushdie. Nothing like a fatwa to make a hack into a celebrity.

Eric Friedmann Wed, May 21, 2008 at 10:29 AM EST

Gary, were you making these kinds of lame jokes the day our country was attacked on September 11, 2001??? Did you laugh when the twin towers of the World Trade Center came crashing down???

I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone (American or foreign) who uses YouTube to promote any kind of terrorist act of any kind, even if it's meant to be funny. YouTube is right in trying to regulate it. In my opinion, it's no different than an airline's or a school's zero tolerance against any kind of humor with regard to bombs or any other kind of terrorist violence.

Snarf Wed, May 21, 2008 at 09:57 AM EST

Interesting how the govts. of countries that tout "freedom of expression" as one of their freedoms constantly try to regulate or censor it. Props to the folks at YouTube.
