Trailer Blazer: 'Twilight'

I'm not fully versed in Stephenie Meyer's world of romantic-but-chaste teenage vampires, but the teaser for Twilight (opening Dec. 12), which debuted in theaters over the weekend and is streaming now at MySpace's Trailer Park, looks pretty darn cool. Hardcore Edward-and-Bella-philes can geek out over at MTV.com, which has a shot-by-shot analysis of the clip. For everyone else, let's just say that Kristen Stewart looks like she'll do fine as the strong-willed mortal Bella; Robert Pattinson seems properly courtly (and toothy) as her bloodsucking beloved Edward; and the action and FX look kinetic enough to dazzle even those who haven't read Meyer's bestsellers. Watch the teaser below, and see if you agree that it makes Twilight look like a movie you could sink your fangs into.

ok. The car scene looks good, his face is perfect but the when she says "I'm not afriad of you" jezz they ruined that scene. Its nothing like the book. Plus the house? What? Since when does it look like that? well i know this is the MOVIE not the BOOK but still the parts that they show are a OK. I'm going to see it but I know its not going to be like the book.

i agree with annoyed fan. nothing we see on film will measure up to our minds, but it is still going to be freaking awesome. you can FEEL the chemistry eeking in the last clip where he says "you really shouldn't have said that." i think a great story + good actors + teen hormones + hollywood effects + HOT CHEMISTRY is going to make this one heck of a ride (whether or not he's our idea of Edward, i mean, come on! there couldn't possibly be a man in existance that measures up to Edward--he's P-E-R-F-E-C-T! that's the whole point! my poor husband. . . :) just stop moaning and know this is going to be amazing!!!!

I think some people need to get over this. If you don't like the casting, don't whine about it and make a huge deal. Not everyone's going to like the casting, but I mean, seriously, you know? I wasn't 100% happy about everyone that was cast (mainly Jacob and Rosalie) but I'm giving them a chance and not moaning about it and dissing the movie because of it. If you've got nothing better to do with your time than sit here and hate on the movie, then here's a thought, DON'T SEE THE MOVIE. I don't mean to step on any toes, but really you guys. Suck it up and deal with the fact that they didn't cast who you wanted them to. ...And if I hear someone say Emily Browning should have been Bella one more time, I'm going to bang my copy of Twilight against my head repeatedly.

i all ready comented right before this one. oh well.
these books are my LIFE! 10% of the reason i'm moving to my dad's is because i want to meet a gorgeous vampire... which will never happen.
also... i annoy the poop out of my step sister talking about this nonstop. but it's fun. :)

i hope its good. i really do. iim sure the bella will be amazing, into the wild was a god among movies, but im so nervous for the edward. i doubt anyone can describe their perfect edward, because he is too perfect for words.

Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final book in the Twilight saga, due out August 2. Midnight Sun, which is still in progress, is Meyer's version of Twilight from Edward's perspective.

OMG!!! I almost passed out the first time I saw the trailer for the movie. I think no matter what we are all going to have visions of what Edward and Bella looked like, but the cast is chosen fairly well. If you think about it, whenever you read the book, you're not going to imagine these characters as Edward and Bella, after I saw the teaser trailers and who was playing Edward and Bella I went back and read the first book again and I still imagined them as I always have. I'm really excited about the movie and the fourth book Breaking Dawn. I heard it's the first book, but in Edward's point of view. Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse have become my life for the past month. I read all three books in 2 days. I really want a guy to read it and see what he thinks. So guys want to shout out their opininon, I think we're all curious.

Wowow. This movie will be interesting, I've read the books sooo many times. I read the first book the week it came out, in a day, that's how amazing it was @_@ wowow. Can't wait for the movie to come out, it'll give Twilight a chance to "come to life" besides in my head :)

To everyone out there that thinks this is going to be bad because it's not EXACTLY like the book... at least Hardwicke put in the car scene, the resturant scene, the James scene etc... it could be like Blood and Chocolate and have nothing to do with the book only have the names of the characters!

This movie is going to be awesome. I can't wait. Robert and Kristen are great actors! They have Bella and Edward perfect. I can't wait!

i read twilight when the book first came out. and when i found out about the making of the movie, i freaked out. whenever a movie about something is made, the book is completely ruined. the cast could be better. edward could have been played by someone bigger, stronger. and i had someone else in mind for bella. but i guess i'll just have to wait and see. i'm excited.

When I first found out Robert Pattinson was casted for this part I was so damn disappointed but after watching this. Change my mind completely. He looks damn fine! I love how his so pale and smirks he gives Bella. And I like the way Bella looks

I am glad Hardwicke seems to have brought an original look to the film. Based on the MTV feature which showed the filming of the dance studio fight scene with James, I was afraid the movie would come out looking like The Covenant: cheesy and unoriginal. The dark lighting and handheld camera work are perfect for creating a more realistic, and in my opinion more romantic atmosphere. And let's face it: casting lesser known actors to play Edward and Bella adds to the neutral appeal such a popular series demands. Fans need to feel like they're seeing something completely original, which does justice to the vision they have in their heads of Meyer's world. Also, I didn't like The Covenant because of the horrible hard rock soundtrack. More understated, softer music (Bright Eyes? Sufjan Stevens?) would set the love story out against the action and special effects providing a more interesting contrast than Meyer's preferred soundtrack (Muse). Basically, I hope Hardwicke keeps it indie.

In my vision Edward had long, shaggy hair a la Kyle Schmid in Blood Ties...but that's just a personal preference. Pattinson will have to turn up the sex appeal to outdo that particular vamp. :)

At first, I was terribly disappointed with Robert Pattison being cast as Edward, but watching this, his attitude is perfect! Exactly as I imagined it. I'm so excited. I really like Kristen Stewart but I am not sure how good she will be in a romantic movie like this.

I am a 52 yea old grandmother, and am so looking forward to this movie! I even got my 79 yr old mom hooked! Robert looks good, not as I pictured Edward in my mind, but he does fit the character. I hope they make his skin paler in post production. I don't think he is flying, but running through the tree tops. In all other stories but Stephanie's vampires do fly and they do have fangs...just not in twilight. Will watch this daily until Dec.12th! Can't wait for breaking dawn!

I have read Twilight about 100 times. I too am an adult (31) who picked it up by mistake in the book store. I have read all three books. I too pictured everyone different in my head. I am a little dissappointed that some of the finer details were not tended too (like the fact Edward seems to have some 5 o'clock shadow going on in some of the clips.) The flying thing bothers me a little too. It seemed more magical for me that they run so fast it seems like they are flying not that they actually can fly. I don't know. I was really excited about it until I saw that Jacob Black was being played by Sharkboy. lol Maybe he has grown as an actor since those days. I hope so. Just like the Harry Potter books not everything could fit into the movie or the movie would be 10 hours long.

You can never get everything out of a book there is just to much in it. It would have been to hard to show them running and it is easier and faster to just have them fly or glide. Some people would have still complained at who was playing Edward no matter what. I think they picked who was playing who very good and considered a lot of things when they did and took their time doing it.

Here goes...
[From an outsider's perspective]: It makes me wonder what's going on, so that if the movie was about to start playing, I would watch it to find out what it's about. But it's not something I would remember later or be waiting for the release date. Of course, it is just a teaser trailer and they just finished filming, so we can't really expect a whole lot... yet.
[From my true "Twilighter" self]: OOOMMMGGG!!!!!
I think I melted when I watched this. I seriously sat in my chair, speechless, not moving... and then I felt the excitement rising (yes, even bringing tears to my eyes) and I squealed and bounced for like 30s when I was like, OMG I need to watch that at LEAST 34 more times! lol
And of course I found all the screen caps so that I can see every emotion and every closeup and the eyes... mmmm.
I REALLY hope they can hype this up the right way to get more people interested!!
P.S. GARY SUZMAN - vampires don't have fangs. ;)

Hate the books, so I have no reason to see the movie. The cast actually might've drawn me in, because I adored Kristen Stewart in 'Speak' and loved Robert Pattinson as Cedric in 'Harry Potter'.

But actually knowing the substance of the books makes me want to gag, because the books aren't interesting to me. I tried to read them, I just couldn't. And yes, I am in high school. I can resist the books. It's possible.

i can tolerate books being made into movies, but if more than two things are screwed up, i flip out. my poor husband made a comment about how he like Eragon (because it had dragons in it), and he got my full blown force fury directed at him instead. Eragon was AWEFUL. they took characters from a book and made their own story...ahh not getting into again...anyways. I am still curious on seeing Twilight though. I'm ridiculously obsessed with the books(and im glad im not alone..haha). I'll just save my hubby this time and go alone. :) So far I am happy with the selection of actors/actresses. they are very close to how i pictured them in my imagination. :)

OMG. There are no words strong enough to describe the feelings I get for these books. The movie is gonna be incredible, and terrible at the same time. It will be terrible to every person who has read the books because then their version of the book will be altered. I think it will be incredible because anytime anyone ever mentions Twilight I get the butterflies and I realize I am not alone in the obsession for the story. And to be able to watch the entire movie.... ah, that would be, undescribable. Can't wait

In the book he shines with beauty and in the upcoming movie the guy ain't that great looking. Movies should stick to the book. Books are the reason movies come out, because they're are great!

I have watched this over 30 times!!! OMC! I can't wait for the movie to come out, and i love the casting! The book twilight it self is exellent a wonderful love story. Yet the movie will not be able to portray the love and chemistry between Edward and Bella. First of all Edward is so not good looking enough and the Bella cannot show the audience the undying love she has for Edward. So sad it is such a good book.

AMAZING! I am a 36 year-old mother of three and I have fallen in love with Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga. This trailer is so riveting because of the close-up scenes on both Bella and Edward. Seems like we are standing right next to them, listening in to their conversations. I will definitely see this movie in the theaters, perhaps even more than once. Keep in mind that it will be the first "grown-up" movie I've seen in the theater in a long time! Go Stephenie Go! We love Twilight!

I think the trailer is brilliant, though definitely leans towards the fans as the few lines in it means SO MUCH more to us Twilighters than to an outsider. I am one of the few who always knew Rob would be an amazing Edward, I am glad to see the rest of thefandom came around and that this teaser converted a few more of the non-believers. As far as comments on Rob's acting ability, 7 lines in less than a minute long clip are nothing to go by. I happen to have seen most of Robert's work, including the film How To Be and he is a very dedicated and talented actor, so do your homework before you go commenting on things like that. This film is going to be fantastic. I look forward to the full length trailer.

OMEC! I must have watched this 300 times already, and still want to watch it more!
I love it, and i think that non-twilighters will have a hard time guessing what it's about. A guy, who isn't normal, who has a friend like him in a hoodie (Emmett) and he falls for this girl. He is immortal, chases deer and can stop cars with his hands and can fly (i still hate that part). It makes you think, "Well what exactly is he?" But us course all the twilighters know! ;) I'm sure non-twilighters are all thinking along the same lines of Bella at the beginning. What is he, and why does he have to be so gorgeous!? :D

I am a huge fan of the books and I am in my 40's, so it's not just for teens. Although I have to say, as good as the trailer looks, I hope they don't totally take out the scene from Port Angeles which is where Bella actually finds out about Edward. It's kind of a pivotal scene, and it looks like they are trying to replace it with one in the woods. I really hope they stay mostly true to the book, even though it's hard sometimes because of editing and length of time. I have yet to decide if I will go to the theatres to watch, or if I will wait....

I'm a 39 year old mom and I love twilight - my girls introduced me and I'm as giddy as a school girl for December! I loved this trailer and I think the movie will be perfect and oh so amazing. I've always liked Robert for Edward and thought he would do an awesome job and Kristen is, well she's perfect - they are both perfect! The trailer has blown me away...absolutely fulfilled my dreams and left me speechless. So, to be perfectly honest, I think I'll just let it speak for itself ;)

BUT!!!! One more thing:
[[And I'm not targeting anyone in particular when saying this!!]]:
For the love of GOD if I hear one more person say they hate that Edward is flying I don't know what I'll DO! It's been specified sooooo so so many times that he runs through the treetops (and jumps) and there is no, I repeat, NO flying in the movie. What we see at the end of the trailer is him jumping into the trees with Bella... not flying...

Alright, sorry for the rant, it just has been driving me insane, and I apologize sooo so so thoroughly if I sounded rude!!! =/

Okay, EW, you are my entertainment bible, but MTV has the jump on you on this one!! The fans are rightfully rabid, the books are everyone's brand of heroin, (yes, GUYS too!), and it's time to jump on the bandwagon! I was so exited about this movie, but it seems to me that "Cedric" [To me, he shall always be Cedric from Harry Potter >.>] Is not sexy enough to be Edward to tell the truth. He seems to undertalented to be playing a part such as Edward Cullen. I wish they would of picked someone like Gaspard Ulliel, but then again, that's my personal view. I liked the picks, and I think Bella is great, except for her almost never smiling, and I loved "Cedric" until now as a saw him acting so poorly.

We are so lucky that Summit and Catherine Hardwick took notice of Stephenie Meyer's amazing work. I've been stoked about this movie from the beginning- watching, reading and listening to anything I could get my hands on. I know that critics write this off as an unsubstantial teen story, but that is just not true. I have studied literature for most of my adult life, having my BA in English, and Stephenie just has something special that draws you in. I am giddy after watching this teaser trailer, oh, about a million times. And I know that I, and all of her millions of fans, will be just as eagerly awaiting any small morsel that the media will throw our way. I cannot wait until December 12...in case you didn't catch that, I give this trailer 2 thumbs up!

My hope is that Twilight can at least half way live up to the book. We as readers of Twilight can't expect the movie to be the EXACT same thing. That is impossible because we all see different things. Also, it's a movie.. it will be around an hour and 30 minutes to two hours long.. there is NO way in 2 hours they could squish Twilight in to that movie! I will be excited whatever is on that screen come December 12. To the people who haven't read Twilight and think that the movie is a sham... think what you will, but those who support the film will do just that... support it. If you haven't read the books I'm sure this TEASER trailer will mean nothing to you.
As far as Edward's eyes and him flying.. go back, watch the trailer and look at Edwards face when he stops the van from hitting Bella. His face says a 1,000 words.

Now, before I go any further, I would just like to say that this teaser trailer is stellar, and I cannot wait for the movie's release at the end of the year. As a person who read Twilight when it first came out in 2005, I am so happy to see this wonderful book make it to the big screen.
Now, on to the heated discussion: The one thing that Twilight critics seem to forget is that this fanbase (Stephenie Meyer's fanbase, Robert Pattinson's fanbase, Edward & Bella's fanbase, etc.) will remain loyal and strong until the end, even if the movie happens to be... lacking. Even if it does turn out to be a C-rated movie in EW's eyes, there are thousands upon thousands of us fanatics out there, waiting to boost it up to box office gold. As such, there is no possible way this movie can fail.
So, to end this reasonable thought, I think everyone should understand this: either get out of the way or join the following, because us Twilighters are coming through, and we will not take any prisoners.

As an uber-fan I thought it was fantastic. The pictures of the cast just dont do any justice. They look amazing on film! The first sceen dropping in through hundred year old trees was beautiful. And edwards tortured expression as he is staring at the back of Bella is perfect. LOVED it!

I am totally 100% psyched for this movie!!! I know the movie can't be exactly like the book, but from everything I've read from interviews with all involved, the script stays true to the story line and has been stephenie meyers approved!! Can't go wrong with that! As for those who are doubting the performances of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, all I have to say is that if they were really a true die-hard twilight fan, they would probably have taken it upon themseleves to view their previous movies and then would see that no concern is necessary!

I am definitely not in the young adult age range, but I am certainly in love with the Twilight Series. I think the trailer looks amazing (better than I expected, really). I do hope they bring some of the lighter aspects of Bella's and Edward's relationship into the movie, though. The trailer seems more "dark" then the books. Maybe that is just to entice those who haven't read them yet...

I think Rob is perfect as Edward. When I finished reading Twilight, I watched Goblet of Fire, and watched all the behind-the-scenes stuff and I just about fell in love with him. I cannot wait until this movie comes out. This is going to be the longest 7 months and 5 days of my life. Oh and swear my hear like stopped working when I saw the teaser trailer and then when I was revived I watched it like 100 more times. When it shows the part of Bella being saved by Edward and he looks up at her in that way, I like stop breathing. I believe that Kristen and Robert have the perfect chemistry and it really shows. Ok, so now I have to go and hyperventilate some more.

This teaser trailer has been anticipated for MONTHS now. The fandom literally almost combusted yesterday. If you haven't fallen into the Twilight spell yet you will. I'm an adult who can.not.stop.obsessing about this movie and the books. Thanks for bringing attention to it.

*Just a friendly warning to anyone that watches this trailer and then wants to read the books*

They will consume your life! I have turned many of my (then doubting) friends onto these books, only to have them finish all three in less than a week and become just as obsessed as I am. Again, I am not a teen girl (28), these books just make me act like one:)

I'm a huge fan of the books and I can't wait for December (ugh, so far away). Side note: I know these books are for teenagers but I'm 27...yeah, they are that good!

I’m a 40-something mom of teen daughters, who introduced me to the books. There is something magical about this Twilight Series. My daughters and I talk about the movie and characters all the time…great bonding opportunities.

Cara, I'm with you. I'm still on the fence about the books. I really can't decide if I like them or not. But this trailer got me interested anyway. Looks like it's going to be a cool movie. That, and every time I watch Goblet of Fire I think, "Why isn't Cedric in more movies?" So mostly I'm excited about him. This is an Edward I get behind.

THIS is going to be the movie event of the year!! And I'm hoping that EW starts to provide a LOT more coverage of TWILIGHT!!!

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart ARE Edward & Bella! To a "T"!! And the trailer -- though it is a "teaser trailer" is the most exciting thing I've seen in years! I've watched it more times than I can count and it only gets better!!!

I'm counting down the days till 12/12/08!!!

OME! I check PopWatch and the Twilight Lexicon obsessivly almost every hour, so I can't tell you how happy this post makes me.

This trailer ROCKS!!! Rob IS Edward.....

Also, I am another non-teen who is obsessed over these books. Actually, I guess it's just Stephenie Meyer....as I just walked 25 city blocks to get my fresh copy of the Host!!!! So excited!!!!
