Mourn your favorite fallen shows here

May 15, 2008, 06:14 PM | by Mandi Bierly

Categories: Hell to the no!, Television, Things That Make Me Die Inside, Whining

Cancelledshows_l Slezak: Mandi, I just came out of the Idol Cave to discover that ABC canceled Women's Murder Club (with Angie Harmon, left) this week. How am I supposed to go on?
Slezak: Maybe it wasn't a hit in America, but it was a hit in my home. I am distraught. (Seriously!)
Mandi: I'd tell you to take comfort in the best-when-bare arms of Moonlight's Alex O'Loughlin (right), but that show got s---canned, too.
Mandi: If Mick and Beth don't get it on in Friday night's season finale, you will see me distraught. Why did I let myself get sucked in? (Pun not intended. But enjoyed!)
Mandi: By the way, I sat through the entire season of October Road, too. Now we'll never know who that kid's father is. And worse, Geoff Stults has no reason to leave me voicemails offering to dance shirtless in my office. Just cruel.
Slezak: What is wrong with this country?
Slezak: And if the Moonlight producers didn't shoot a little wah-chicka-wah-wah in anticipation of potential cancellation, what is wrong with THEM?
Slezak: Clearly, this was not a good week for middling programming that's very fun to watch with the brain shut off.
Slezak: I'm going to go find a mojito... you in?
Mandi: Can't. I've got to catch up on seven seasons of According to Jim.

Which cancellations are you mourning? After the jump, we list the major casualties for quick and easy reference.

ABC: Men in Trees, Women's Murder Club, October Road, Miss Guided, Carpoolers
CBS: Moonlight, Shark, Jericho, Welcome to the Captain
FOX: Back to You, Canterbury's Law, New Amsterdam, Unhitched
NBC: Journeyman, Las Vegas, Scrubs (but that was picked up by ABC)
The CW: Aliens in America, Girlfriends, WWE Smackdown (but that was picked up by MyNetworkTV)

I wasn't feeling well today, so I decided to kick back and try to catch up on some video. I just watched the first four New Amsterdam episodes at one time. I was so excited about the show that I was wondering when the next season would start – ONLY TO FIND OUT IT HAS BEEN CANCELLED! I FEEL ILL AGAIN. They get rid of Journeyman and then New Amsterdam. These shows were so rich with storytelling possibilities. The people who don't enjoy great storytelling are just morons. Are they going to cancel Sarah Connor too just because they decided to put in on at the same time as MNF? Idiots!

eydie Fri, Aug 29, 2008 at 01:06 PM EST

the very best that i can do for alex o'laughlin and sophia myles now is to forever boycott the 8:00 p.m. time slot on CBS on fridays. to give you some idea of my ability to hold a grudge, i was finished with American Idol the night Constantine got voted off and i've never looked back.

Ed Fri, Jun 13, 2008 at 12:43 AM EST

How can ABC of all networks cancel Carpoolers? They have no good sitcoms and are not advertising rip-offs of Japanese game shows. That is one pathetic network. Marmaduke had the chance to become a character this country would love. Network execs you need help. But thank you, soon I won't waste anytime watching television.

Nick Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 09:37 PM EST

Journeyman was underrated. watched every Episode on hulu.com , outstanding show !

Suzanne Lanoue at The TV MegaSite, Inc. Thu, May 29, 2008 at 10:33 PM EST

LB65, there were TWO seasons of "Life on Mars" on BBC. Anyway, this is the American version coming up and could well last longer...British TV is very different. That and Dollhouse are the only new shows I'll watch next year.

Suzanne Lanoue at The TV MegaSite, Inc. Thu, May 29, 2008 at 10:31 PM EST

Oops, I meant "annoyed", not "enjoyed", LOL!

Suzanne Lanoue at The TV MegaSite, Inc. Thu, May 29, 2008 at 09:09 PM EST

I am very unhappy that FOX canceled Back to You (but not terribly surprised). It was funny, and even my m-i-l loved it. It was not a good match on FOX because it did not have excessive sex or violence and wasn't "cutting edge". It was just a good old-fashioned sitcom with the superb Kelsey Grammar. 'Nuff said.

I am also still enjoyed about Moonlight, Jericho, and Men in Trees being canceled.

This is why I don't watch most new shows any more...

JENNY Thu, May 29, 2008 at 12:31 PM EST

MOONLIGHT IS TO DIE FOR. MICK & BETH ARE SO CONVINCING EVERY WEEK, IT MAKES ME BELIEVE IN FAIRYTALE LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN. I ABSOLUTELY FELL IN LOVE W/THIS SHOW. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!

Caren Fri, May 23, 2008 at 05:02 AM EST

Moonlight was created by Ron Koslow, the creator of my favorite show of all time, Beauty and the Beast, also a CBS show if I remember. I saw so many wonderful similarities between the two shows - it was such a treat to watch. The other shows that were my "never miss them" shows was New Amsterdam, Journeyman and Women's Murder Club. They had really great characters. A lot of shows have actors/actresses that suck. I don't watch reality tv, I watch about 15 dramas every week.
What I still don't understand is where they are getting the ratings FROM? Are they taking into account Tivo, cable DVRs, Direct TV DVRs, Itunes and of course internet? Or are these based only on the obsolete and old-fashioned Nielsons that have nothing to do with reality? Most people in the 16-24 coveted demographic either watch exclusively online on their laptops, or they watch in groups of people in college rooms and family basements. I think ratings are way off-base.

Jason Thu, May 22, 2008 at 03:37 PM EST

I liked Back to You. Too bad it didn't make it.

JD Thu, May 22, 2008 at 03:36 PM EST

We'll miss you Carpoolers! Marm was the best. ABC is stupid for canceling it. ABC is stupid for canceling Knights of Prosperity also. I still haven't gotten over that one. Nothing left for me at (A)ll (B)utt (C)rack. peace!

LB65 Wed, May 21, 2008 at 07:06 PM EST

Loved Moonlight, Loved Journeyman, Loved New Amsterdam...all unique shows with great actors, characters, storylines. Excited to see Life on Mars on the ABC lineup but already saw it on BBCAmerica and only one season so don't get too hooked.

Claudia Wed, May 21, 2008 at 06:45 PM EST

The cancellation of "Moonlight," my favorite show of all time, was a shocker. This show had wonderfully creative scripts, subperb acting and great chemistry between the characters. It was the People's Choice for Best New Drama and Alex O'Loughlin was the Sexiest Sci-Fi Actor. It won its time slot and had legions of fans. I want "Moonlight" back and I'll take it on USA, SciFi or any other channel or network that realizes what a treasure and a built-in fan base this show has. I hope it wins an emmy for Alex, Sophia and the show. CBS has no idea what they are throwing away. Vampire Solidarity! Rah! Rah! Rah!

melinda Wed, May 21, 2008 at 11:57 AM EST

they are bringing back According to Jim and taking off Moonlight! absolutely crazy-even the networks admitted that ATJ wasn't doing well in ratngs!

kathryn Wed, May 21, 2008 at 01:42 AM EST

I'm defiitely mourning Moonlight!!
I'm a little sad about Men in Trees, but Moonlight is definitely a trajedy! What's wrong with America? I can't stand American Cheesball and Dancing with the Desperate! How can those still be the top 2 shows????

Mike Guthrie Tue, May 20, 2008 at 09:44 PM EST

Tivo Tivo Tivo
iPod iPod iPod

it doesn't suit me to watch the shows at the times they are being aired so I TIVO them

If I don't catch them on TIVO, I will happily pay a couple of dollars a show.

TV companies have got to get with the new paradigm and be prepared to produce shows that a "watched" by 7.5 million viewers in real time and figure that resales of the show internationally and via iPod will start making up some of the slack.

Favorites gone from this season include Journeyman (iPod), New Amsterdam (iPod), Canterbury's Law (iPod) and Shark (Tivo).

Prime time is going - so long Prime time!!!

Viewing time is anytime - produce the shows 'to go!!!'

Lisa Tue, May 20, 2008 at 09:27 PM EST

To SDA333...I too miss Veronica.

I just watched the last two episodes of Women's Murder Club online as I was out of the country when they aired. I really liked this show and am sad to see it go.

Steve Lee Tue, May 20, 2008 at 05:33 PM EST

The Knights of Prosperity and Andy Barker, PI were two of the best shows on television. Both were funny. Clever. Different. So, of course, both were quickly cancelled. Are the masses just not smart enough to appreciate clever? Do they really only respond to crap like American Idol? What a sad state of affairs.

Firefly. Wonderfalls. Miracles. The Night Stalker. None got a fair chance. Veronica Mars got cancelled in favor of Pussycat Dolls. Aliens in America got axed, but According to Jim lived on. God, I hate people.

Joan Mon, May 19, 2008 at 04:11 PM EST

Moonlight, Journeyman, and Jericho. Each one was different from the other repetitive junk they bombard us with. I don't watch reality tv so I guess I will spending lots more quality time with BBC America, HBO, PBS and SciFi. I have already increased my Netflix subscription. Guarantee I won't be watching CBS' new line up THIS fall.

Adam Mon, May 19, 2008 at 02:06 PM EST

I have to say Journeyman was the only show that caught my eye and was cancelled. But, if I wanted to I could watch 5 seasons of Quantum Leap to fill the void.

oldbear Mon, May 19, 2008 at 10:34 AM EST

Once again the so called experts have cancelled another show that was intelligent, fun and had great potential. Is it any wonder that network TV is falling behind cabel and preminum shows. Moonlight was the best new drama of the 07 season. What are we going to get next. More unreal reality shows? NO wonder reading is gaining in popularity.

Cassie Mon, May 19, 2008 at 08:33 AM EST

I am also saddened by the cancellation of Moonlight. It is an amazing show, and my Friday nights just won't be the same without it. I'm really hoping another network picks it up. I've never felt compelled to campaign for another show like this, but I find myself e-mailing networks, posting on message boards, and trying to get the word out about this show! It is amazing how a great cast, great storyline, and overall great show can touch your life.

1MLfan Sun, May 18, 2008 at 07:06 PM EST

I love Moonlight. It was smart, interesting, funny. I am very sad that CBS has chosen to replace this gem of a show (PCA award winner) with EX-List which, after suffering through a 50 second clip, appears to be totally inane and mindless and is something I have no interest in watching regardless of when/where it is broadcast.

Sun, May 18, 2008 at 03:53 PM EST

I am sad to see Carpoolers go. I really liked Marmaduke! Sad about October Road too. The show really sucked, the acting was pretty awful and I hated the names of the characters (Physical Phil, Pizza Girl, Big Cat, etc...) but that little show really did touch me for some reason. I watched it because I got wrapped up in the whole Sam, Hannah, Nick saga. Who is the child's father? I hope we get some answers from the writers. Pissed at NBC for what they did to Scrubs. That show should have had a spot on Thursday nights since the beginning, but no the had to jump it around. Boo to them but yay for ABC for picking it up. At least they will have one good comedy.

Britgirl Sun, May 18, 2008 at 10:39 AM EST

I loved Moonlight and New Amsterdam, now not only will I not find out what happens with Beth and Mick, but whether John Amsterdam will find his true love. AAAAARGH if I like a show they cancel it. I should just give up watching telly.
At least a book can't be cancelled !

Beth Sun, May 18, 2008 at 10:05 AM EST

Women's Murder Club should have been cancelled. Maybe then Angie Harmon would have time for a candy bar or two. She is way too skinny. That picture of her is just sick. Please, someone get her some pizzas, cake, and ice cream...quick!!

w Sun, May 18, 2008 at 09:08 AM EST

I'll miss Miss Guided and Journeyman.

I didn't watch "Moonlight" just because I knew I would probably like it and it would get canceled. I've gotten so discouraged about this over the last couple of seasons.

And may I suggest, that since the networks seem to have these great stories that they're not committed to giving them a chance and allowing to build an audience, maybe it's time for them to start doing mini-series again. Then if the shows are popular enough (for them) turn them into series. At least that way, "only" several million viewers wouldn't be left hanging.

Oh, and I'm so sick of tacky reality tv shows with people who don't realize just how awful they are!!!!!!

Bella Sun, May 18, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

I am so sad and angry that October Road was canceled. ABC finish the story for us please. I can't believe we will be left hanging without knowing who Sam's father is and our last image of Janet and Eddie is Eddie throwing Janet out of his hospital room. What a way to ruin a show for everyone. ABC doesn't know how to recognize a good show. Remember they had My So Called Life. MTV made that show a hit.

After reading all of these comments it sounds like all of the networks are so quick to pull the plug on a show without concern for the audience. Where should one even turn to watch new shows? No wonder no one is watching network television anymore.

Lizzy Sun, May 18, 2008 at 01:27 AM EST

Journeyman had such possibilities but it needed to be overhauled. They should have dumped the annoying wife and not made the show a spinoff of Quantum Leap. The show should have been more of a Sci-Fi thriller like Lost. Oh well.
But the show that I am really mourning is the cancellation of Deadwood. My husband just got me into the series. Get past the constant swearing and the dialogue is excellent! It's like the Sopranos meets the Old West. I will miss Al!

MamaMia Sat, May 17, 2008 at 10:14 PM EST

It should be noted that Moonlight didn't even get a full season, logging 16 episodes with a writers strike splitting it.

Tracy Sat, May 17, 2008 at 10:10 PM EST

Well I'm pretty much screwes as my favorite shows (in order) are October Road, Moonlighting and Men In Trees. So guess I won't be watching anything but 90 minutes of TV a week...Ugly Betty and Samantha Who? I'll have to take up more hobbies. I have rotten luch with TV shows esp. this season.

ShellNJ Sat, May 17, 2008 at 05:44 PM EST

I really cannot believe ABC cancelled OCTOBER ROAD. This was such an entertaining show on so many levels. I loved the characters, the storylines, the town and the music. Please reconsider ABC. You have made a huge mistake!

SDA333 Sat, May 17, 2008 at 05:38 PM EST

Still and forever mourning the loss of "Veronica Mars" :( Haven't watched the CW since it's cancellation...

Raven_Moon Sat, May 17, 2008 at 04:26 PM EST

I love "Moonlight!" It's one of the few shows I was really swept up in. It's so sad. I know I'm probably just getting my hopes up, but I keep hoping for a miracle that some other network will pick it up.

Dottie Sat, May 17, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

What is CBS thinking? First Jericho and now Moonlight. Why would I even want to start watching any new shows they put out there? They're just going to cancel them anyway. I'm fed up, disappointed, and just plain mad at the idiots at CBS. Won't be too much reason to even turn the tv on next season.

Bobbi Sat, May 17, 2008 at 03:24 PM EST

I would like to know why any network thinks the American public should bother to get invested in any series. My particular beef is with ABC since most of the shows I loved that are being cancelled were on that channel, but the sentiment applies universally. What's the point? You watch whatever show, love the characters, get involved in the storylines and then poof! They're gone! I noticed one of the comments decided who the father of Sam was on October Road. I agree with his thinking but that wasn't the only plot line I was interested in. What about Janet and Eddie? What about Big Cat? What about Hannah and Nick? The last episode was set up beautifully for a summer cliff hanger and now we find out that we'll never find out. WTH? Men In Trees? They have abused that show and its fans since day one. Women's Murder Club? We barely had time to learn the dynamics of the characters and appreciate how they work together and they're gone too. But the schlock rolls on! They can keep it!

David Sat, May 17, 2008 at 02:33 PM EST

I agree rachel, I really liked The Class also. It had real potential and was well paired with HIMYM.

rachel Sat, May 17, 2008 at 01:56 PM EST

in 2006, CBS ran a show called "The Class", a comedy very similar to a "Friends" or "Will & Grace." extremely funny and smart, it was a real tragedy it was canceled after only one year.

Not letting Moonlight die alone
By E. Verboonen

Here is the deal.
This season there were “only” 7.5 million viewers of Moonlight each week.
And therefore CBS decided to cancel the show, leaving some sad fans out there.
Let’s be reasonable, CBS has a lot of shows, and as a business they have to worry about getting money right? But come on, with 7.5 millions viewers they were getting revenue from their investment.

This is a list of shows that CBS is not going to cancel anytime soon:
How I met your mother has 10.7 million
Two and a half men 14.1 million
Dancing with the stars 9.2 million
Survivor: Micronesia 11.6 million
60 Minutes 11.5
CBS Evening News had 6.3 million
The average viewers for a show to get picked for a next season are 10 million viewers.

The people that really loved moonlight with their hearth obviously watch at least another CBS show.
CBS said that is not going to renew Moonlight based in a coordinated response from the fans like it did with Jerico... continue above

E Verboonen Sat, May 17, 2008 at 12:44 PM EST

It seems the studios doesn’t respond nice to a "pretty please", the writers strike gave a good advice referring to how to deal with the studios, if you want something from the networks and you ask nicely for it, you wont get it, you have to fight for it.
So lets say that only 2/3 of the Moonlight viewers are committed fans.
That leaves us with 5 million viewers. If these 5 million viewers stop watching CBS at all, and instead watch any other show from another network.
CBS is going to be down at least 3 Million viewers in Two and a half men, 2.4 million in Survivor: Micronesia, 1 million in CBS Evening News, and so on. (Based on average viewers per show of each genre, time of the show, age of the audience.)

By doing this CBS is going to be down by over 7.5 million viewers (from the 5 million devoted fans, the average is that each viewer watch 2.5 CBS shows)

If after this Moonlight doesn’t get renewed, at least CBS is going to regret to have MOONLIGHT CANCELLED in the first time. E.V

I'm mourning the cancellation of 'South of Nowhere'. It is a show that has been aired by The-N for the past 3 years. We are currently on an incredibly long hiatus until the final 8 episodes air in the fall. We are trying to save it from cancellation. See http://www.savespashley.com. Ugh. The creator of the show believes The-N will reconsider if we get ratings up when the final eps air. We could use as many new viewers as possible. So check South of Nowhere out at http://www.the-n.com. Do a youtube search for 'Spashely' and you will see why it's special. Spread the love!

Beth - What shoes was I wearing?
Mici - None
Beth - How can you remember?
Mick - ..... because I love you

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu I love you toooooooo Moonlight

What the hell was CBS thinking!!! What else are they going to put on a FRIDAY?? I mean come on 8 million people is NOT NOTHING!! MOONLIGHT was and is a great show!!!!

Penny Sat, May 17, 2008 at 10:39 AM EST

CBS new slogan should be ' Welcome home ... where we crush your dreams'

Moonlight I LOVED that show!!!

Diana Sat, May 17, 2008 at 10:02 AM EST

FYI for Men in Trees fans... there are three more episodes that will air May 28, June 4 and 11th. Jenny Bicks had the foresight to write two final episodes and since MIT got axed we do get a conclusion to the series!

Laura Sat, May 17, 2008 at 09:50 AM EST

As usual CBS found a winner and didn't know what they had. They'll keep these studpid reality shows and cancel an award winning show like MOONLIGHT. CBS you're a bunch of idiots. You wouldn't know a good show if it walked up and bit you, oops! this one did.

Diana Sat, May 17, 2008 at 09:38 AM EST

Since ABC cancelled Men in Trees I have cancelled them from my tv! They never gave that show a chance. And it was the best thing on IMO!!! I am also angry at Fox for cancelling Back to You. Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton were great together. Seriously, the networks totally suck, ALL of them. That is why I watch satellite. No more network for me!

jc Sat, May 17, 2008 at 07:45 AM EST

After dropping Moonlight, CBS is officially dead to me. after all, it's the same network that hired katie couric to be their evening news anchor. clearly the execs have difficulty making good decisions.

Sat, May 17, 2008 at 02:20 AM EST

I want my MOONLIGHT!!! Arrrgh!

Kim Vasquez Sat, May 17, 2008 at 01:30 AM EST

I'm really going to miss Moonlight! It still has so much left to give and they just canceled it.Let's continue fighting Moonlight fans!!!

Kerry S Sat, May 17, 2008 at 12:12 AM EST

I just got done watching the last episode of the season(I refuse to say series)of Moonlight. I'm heartbroken(as well as angry) at the thought this even has a chance to be it. WAKE UP CBS(and other networks). 8 million loyal viewers is nothing to belittle. Not every show is going to pull down monster ratings. CBS cited post strike numbers being lower for the show than before. Well didn't I read that numbers for ALL shows were down post strike? Some of the biggies even down double digits? Lame excuse CBS. Also, during the strike when people could have been watching shows they may have not started watching before but were new to THEM now, CBS is airing game shows and concerts in Moonlight's slot when they could have been hooking in new viewers. They had a People's Choice Award show with a GEM of a cast and so many interesting story line possibilies and they threw it away. I only have one thing to say to CBS. Goodbye. I'll follow Moonlight to whoever is smart enough to pick it up.

Alison Sat, May 17, 2008 at 12:03 AM EST

I'm really going to miss October Road. It had amazing characters, actors, and writing.

David Sat, May 17, 2008 at 12:03 AM EST

For what reason would ANYONE watch a first year network show at this point? Now when I hear about a new sci-fi show (which I would probably really like) I just refuse to watch it b/c I know it will be cancelled and I'm not going to invest in a show with no payoff. As has been pointed out, Many huge hits could have been cancelled in season one: Friends, Seinfeld etc. yet networks Never learn. Why?

PS: Carpoolers was actually a Very Funny show, which I know no one watched, but I loved! The guy who played Marmaduke was freaking hysterical!

Sableprncs Fri, May 16, 2008 at 11:41 PM EST

This is why I dont watch much tv anymore. Everytime I start watching a show and like it, it gets cancelled. Moonlight, New Amsterdam, Journeyman, Shark, I was even getting into Womens Murder Club and they are all cancelled. Who are the people with these ratings boxes and how do I get one? Because they apparently arent including me or anyone I know in the tally. Everyone I know watches Moonlight and apparently it has lots of fans on here, so why do they keep saying no one is watching it? I totally agree with the people who said they cancel good shows and replace them with stupid reality tv shows, I HATE reality TV. ALL of it, from survivor to kid nation to pussycat dolls... The only show on tv that I watch on a regular basis now is CSI and now that Warrick is gone that might even change.

Christy Fri, May 16, 2008 at 11:33 PM EST

Moonlight was the best thing to ever happen to CBS. They have no clue. Nina Tassler said the new shows are to bring more female viewers to their network.

WHAT?!

Who watches Moonlight? Oh yeah, 90% women. We love Alex and Jason. Sophia plays an amazing female lead character.

It's not about ratings either. Something else was going on.

The Moonlight fans are NOT giving up on our show. This fight ain't over.

Lynne Fri, May 16, 2008 at 11:20 PM EST

In regards to the Nina/CBS comment that Moonlight fans were rabid, but small/unimportant: Rabid-Yes. I have NEVER been this rabid about a tv show!
Unimportant-Don't think so.
I am the demographic you supposedly want: 18-49, female, with a good paycheck that I will not spend on anything related to CBS from this point forward.
Whatever network picks up this show, and surely someone out there is smarter than CBS and will, I will support you, I will support your sponsors, just give me my Mick, Beth and Josef back please!

mjade27 Fri, May 16, 2008 at 10:49 PM EST

The ratings system is so broken. The TV sets that look at all those lame formula shows in the nielsens don't translate the advertiser's $ into sales. Moonlight gets TIVOd, downloaded and watched by the demo that actually will spend $. The "professionals" providing CBS with info and making the decisions regarding programming (such as canceling "Moonlight") are "Class A Morons" (thank you, Liz). I didn't watch the show when it first came on, because it seemed like an Angel rip-off (and I was still a little sad that got canceled). After hearing so much positive buzz about the show, I finally starting watching some re-runs and caught the new eps post-strike. It's a real shame that it won't get a chance to suck in more new fans next year. I won't watch any of the other shows on CBS anyway, since they don't hold a candle to good TV (30 Rock, the Office, BSG, Lost, etc). Please: someone else pick up "Moonlight"!

Theresa Fri, May 16, 2008 at 10:47 PM EST

I am grieving hard for Moonlight, the first Friday night series that I have watched faithfully since The X Files. At least FOX had enough sense to give that little show a chance. Moonlight deserves that chance. In my little part of the world, it was growing. I, personally, got all the ladies in my office watching since the strike ended.
CBS is dead to me. Ghost Whisperer, Numbers, CSI have all been permanently taken off my DVR, I won't even watch my local news on that station ever again. Maybe an intelligent network will pick it up. If they do I will follow with my loyalty and my money for sponsors.

Amy Gearheart Fri, May 16, 2008 at 10:34 PM EST

I actually had a sick to my stomach feeling all day today that that this might be the last Moonlight episode!! I have never got so involved with a television show in my life!! PLEASE PLEASE let another, smarter network pick this show up. I have never seen anything like it. Saw a clip of the show that will run in Moonlight's time slot and it's stupidity made me laugh out loud! I beg another network to pick up Moonlight, tonight's Season 1 Finale was the best episode yet, AMAZING!!

Moonlight was a relief from the bombardment of the reality nonsense shows out there and what does CBS do but cancel it. It made Friday night TV enjoyable. Sexy, humorous, dramatic, suspenseful! CBS,are you out of your minds?

njdave Fri, May 16, 2008 at 09:01 PM EST

Can someone please tell me why the networks slam you with ads and promotions to watch their new shows every year and then when we finally watch them and take the time to take an interest in their shows, they cancel them after half a season or a full season. Then they'll start it all over again with a new crop of shows and expect us to invest the time in these shows. Well, no more. Not me. I'm done. I've been burned too many times. These clowns running the networks are clueless. Take shows like Moonlight and Journeyman. They were getting great buzz and while the ratings may not be where they wanted them (I personnally "time shift" all shows and watch on TIVO) they were cultivating a following and if allowed to stay on the air they would find an audience and grow. It's amazing how short-sighted these pea-brained execs are. It's sited over and over again but shows like Seinfeld and Friends would not have been the hits they were if they weren't given the chance of more than one season

i dvr'd carpoolers by accident once and it made me laugh. while i'm not entirely surprised that its gone i'll miss those guys.

cbs made a large miskake cancelling moonlight!!!! will not buy sponsered products or watch cbs again no matter what is on. After waiting through the Writers Strike, and then being told by CBS Programming it was "none of my business what is on air and what is canceled" I was shocked!!!! CBS needs some new officials and sponsers need to have second thoughts. Totally shocked at the attitude on the phone!!!!!

april_xf Fri, May 16, 2008 at 07:07 PM EST

Guess I should have specified in my previous post, I was speaking of Moonlight.

april_xf Fri, May 16, 2008 at 07:05 PM EST

I'm not sure I like being called a rabid fan, considering I've never really written or tried to save another show. I'm just finding it hard to believe a show that one Best New Drama and is in the top downloads at Amazon could be considered non-viable for a second season. If a cable network picks it up that's great, but for those with antenna's they would be out of luck. The writer's strike hurt the rating of most show across the board, I've taked with co-workers who didn't know when new episodes of various shows were coming back on the air, due to the lack of advertising. CBS has truly made a mistake in their decision.

Jean Fri, May 16, 2008 at 07:04 PM EST

Moonlight. Never missed an episode. Won't bother to watch a new CBS drama next year...if it's not CSI...they'll just cancel it.

I'm bummed about "Carpoolers". It was a decent show and actually made me laugh. Seriously, THAT gets cancelled and "Jim" is still on the air?!? WTF?!? And I'd say that I'm sad about "Las Vegas", but I gave up on it once it moved to Fridays. And when it lost James Caan, not even the beautiful Josh Duhamel could save it for me.

tess Fri, May 16, 2008 at 06:50 PM EST

I found Women's Murder Club one Friday night, and loved it! It was a refreshing change of pace from other shows, my hubby even liked it, but that could have been because of Angie Harmon! I'll be sorry to see it go, the cast was excellent. I actually skipped renting movies to watch it on Friday nights...

martina Fri, May 16, 2008 at 05:33 PM EST

Im so sad that moonlight has been cancelled i just hope that another channel will pick it up

WTF Fri, May 16, 2008 at 04:40 PM EST

What the heck is going on at the network hubs??? I actually enjoyed watching Miss Guided! I thought it was funny and sassy and I totally related to the entire storyline. First Jericho, now this. No wonder I can't stand prime time tv.

Keri Fri, May 16, 2008 at 04:40 PM EST

I'm grieving the loss of "Aliens in America." That show made me laugh-- no, guffaw-- and then, two minutes later, I might have a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. It was really special and the CW is FOOLISH.

spudvalley Fri, May 16, 2008 at 04:38 PM EST

Moonlight was the reason I watched CBS. I don't see any reason to continue to watch this network if Moonlight isn't on. There are many of us who are tired of reality-driven "entertainment;" we want to see interesting stories told in a compelling manner, with characters we care about because the actors have given them life.

KSGrim Fri, May 16, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

Moonlight. Apparently, CBS believes 8 million viewers don't have enough money to purchase what their advertisers are selling. I'm insulted.

beth-ohio Fri, May 16, 2008 at 03:58 PM EST

38 yr old pregnant mother of a 4 yr old who only watched one hour of TV a week... MOONLIGHT! It felt like someone has socked me in the gut this week with this cancellation! A People's Choice award winner and winning ratings and they still cancel it? Wow, CBS... you have my sympathy, because whoever's in charge over there definitely doesn't have a clue to what people want!

Wickett Fri, May 16, 2008 at 03:27 PM EST

After tonight, I have no intentions of ever watching CBS network again....Moonlight was the only show I watched--the others seemed boring to me. I enjoyed catching Two and a Half Men whenever I remembered to, but even that show isn't good enough to redeem the entire network. CW and Fox channels are awesome!

Marci Fri, May 16, 2008 at 03:20 PM EST

I am so incredibly sad that CBS decided that the people's choice winner for new drama shows Moonlight wasn't good enough even though it has an incredibly strong following. I can't believe I won't find out what happens with Mick and Beth; If Josef's lady comes out of her coma; What happens with Coraline?
I'm so very sad tonight is the last episode. CBS doesn't care for anything but their bottom line. My bottom line is I won't ever get attatched to another CBS show because they will just snatch the carpet out from under me and I'll be as stunned as I am now. :( I'll go back to reading on Friday nights like I have always done.

LadyAilith Fri, May 16, 2008 at 02:49 PM EST

Moonlight was my favorite show of this season. For the first time in my life, I'm fighting for a program that I've come to love. If CBS thinks its viewership is down now, just wait...when Moonlight is picked up by another network, that's where we'll all be.

Bye, bye CBS.

DanOregon Fri, May 16, 2008 at 02:44 PM EST

For all of you October Road enthusiasts, Eddi LaTecca is the Baby Daddy. At least that was the implication when he said. "Hannah, we should tell him."

DanOregon Fri, May 16, 2008 at 02:32 PM EST

I probably watched a record number of series finales this year thanks to the writers strike. I can't rank them, but I did enjoy October Road, Miss Guided, Women's Murder Club, Cane, Shark, Jericho, New Amsterdam, Canterbury's Law, Back to You, Journeyman, K-Ville and YES, EVEN KID NATION. Go Get'em Laurel!!!!

Moonlight being canceled is just another example of networks not really caring about what the mass public wants and only zeroing in on dollars and cents (I assuming they're probably developing yet another cheap, lame reality show). This reminds me of last year when they canceled Veronica Mars and replaced it with the search for the next Pussycat Doll!! Can I also ask, how is it According to Jim keeps going and going. Who is watching that show!

CG Fri, May 16, 2008 at 02:18 PM EST

No love for Big Shots, even in death?? Come on, add it to your list. I enjoyed Michael Vartan and Nia Long. It was a good show.

kate Fri, May 16, 2008 at 02:13 PM EST

95% of the posts mentioned Moonlight...doesn't that tell you something, CBS morons?

Moonlight fans have been passionate and loyal from the beginning...hopefully some smart people will see this and save the show.

I would've enjoyed more of Journeyman...and Carpoolers was funny.

Jetcharger Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:58 PM EST

If CBS is axing 3 QUALITY shows like Moonlight, Jericho, and Shark...maybe you're doing something else wrong CBS. You jump from season to season with good quality cancelled show after cancelled show, you might as well fold and hand the reins over to your competition.
The straw that broke the camels back this season was NBC cancelling one of the BEST shows to come along in years. Journeyman. I'm done with the big networks.....

Al Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:57 PM EST

Ahhhh- Hulu- you've ruined my TV watching habit. I watched New Amsterdam there instead of adding it to my season pass list on TIVO. Now I can't watch anymore. At some point somebody is going to have to realize that unless you are over 60-nobody's watching shows like they used to. We're TIVOing (and FF through commercials) or catching them online or waiting till they come out on DVD and watching them then. Come on folks, come up with a new advertising model...

Lindyrb Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:52 PM EST

Hey, it ain't over till the fat vampire sings...and that hasn't happened yet!!! There's a massive fan mobilization going on to save Moonlight. Talks with the CW Network, SciFi, USA and WB are going on. If you want to help, go to Moonlightline.com or Moonlight-united.com for the latest contact info and directions!

Yvonne Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:45 PM EST

I should have learned my lesson about getting sucked into shows after the FIRST cancellation of Jericho. NO, I didn't learn and had it yanked from under me a 2nd time. I also got sucked into Women's Murder Club, Moonlight, Men In Trees (loved it from last year), New Amsterdam and Journeyman...I'm really getting sick of network tv and the Nielsen ratings system...

C C Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:08 PM EST

I don't remember a tv season where so many quality-but-low-rated series were brutally killed by their networks. You could attribute that to the writers' strike, but I'm not completely buying it. I think these shows would have been gone anyway-because the netwoks want instant hits, low-cost reality shows, and programs that appeal either to teenagers or rich people. Average Americans' tastes don't matter to the moguls. Anyway, I'll miss Men in Trees (which didn't even get to complete two full seasons) and Journeyman (SOMEBODY should have given it a chance!). And my Mom's 60+ old friend Karen will be heartbroken that Moonlight was cancelled. She was crazy about Mick.

BigRideau Fri, May 16, 2008 at 01:06 PM EST

Moonlight cancelled?..say it isn't so. We all need our weekly MickBethJosef fix. I looked forward every week to see what was going to happen next. I am saddened. This is the first show that my friends and family members all talked about. I hope another network picks it up. Moonlight needs another chance.

Andie Fri, May 16, 2008 at 12:59 PM EST

Journeyman, I will miss you.

Vicky Fri, May 16, 2008 at 12:56 PM EST

Ahhhhh.... None of my shows got cancelled. Sweet deal.

inkling1 Fri, May 16, 2008 at 12:55 PM EST

MOONLIGHT is the only show that truly deserves a second season. We fans are working very hard to make sure it will LIVE ON with another network! Even "pay per view"!

Connieg Fri, May 16, 2008 at 12:55 PM EST

Moonlight, Moonlight, can't believe they did this to us! CBS what is wrong with you? We will not give up on this great show...the fight to keep Moonlight on the air is and will continue till our last dieing breath.

Dinosaur Fri, May 16, 2008 at 12:42 PM EST

"wah-chicka-wah-wah"? I always thought it was "baow-chicka-baow-baow".
