In a sense it was rigged. David Cook sold more copies of the songs he recorded on idol on i-tunes. The almighty dollar rules the day. Singing covers of other's songs though, really has no bearing on the success or failure of a career. I hope they both do well. There's room enough for more than one idol a year in the music world, Just take it from Daughtry, Aiken, Hudson and others who have had some measure of success without becoming the american idol.

As for the album, Cook's album is in unlimited amount in every book/music store. Archuleta's album sell out in 5 min and stores all over the country stay out of stock for weeks. So dont compare sales. If Jive would ship more albums to the stores the sales would be higher for Archuleta. And Archuleta's tour sold out in 5 min. An I am talking about all venue, not just floor seats like in Cook's case. Archuleta was invited to sing national anthem all over at big event like President inauguration or ProBowl. Right now Archuleta does so many cherity events and uses his name as real IDOL should. He helps raise money for kids in India, US, he is the spokesperson for Do Something's 2009 disaster relief grants.

Why pick on David Cook? He Won fairly. Get over it. It's because I preferred his voice over the choir voice of David Archuleta. They have two different styles. David Cook is a rocker, which I prefer. I have attended 4 diff american idol tour concerts in 3 states. 2 in utah that is where I live. My home is in the south. I met all the idols, got autographs, had a great time. I was so embarrassed for David Cook when a few fools booed David Archuleta. They are both great singers and above all good examples and people. I can tell you David Archuleta is a typical Utah teenager. I am proud that we didn't have any fools dare hurt Cooks feelings in Utah. We know its ok to be kind and supportive of BOTH.

I only watched American Idol this year because of ARCHULETA. Cook was entertaining. But to say, he was just a bartender and all of a sudden he is a talented rocker, give us a break. Some of us are over 35+ years old. Cook is 25 years old and has been part of bands since he was 15, needless to say he had his own CD out. Archuleta at 17 was the winner of star search competition. I don't see the relevance here. American Idol is geared towards the new comer in the music business, not the established singers who could never secure a music contract. Really now. I voted for Archuleta. My whole family watched the show and Archuleta amazed us every week. Cook is a rocker. To say he is unique, please people don't insult our intelligence. He sang other people's songs, he could not reach the high notes without being LOUD and louder than the others, oh yes, he plays the guitar very well. Well, he has been playing in bands since 15 years old. Just what this world needs, another rock louder artist.

Well it all depends what type of music you prefer. I am 40 years old and already own most successful rocker music. Cook is still just another loud rocker with guyliner. Sorry not my cup of tea. The proper question is not "Did America get it right", but Did the Producers get it right? American Idols results are obviously manipulated to achieve whatever outcome the producers want. From scripted comments from "judges", to "surprise" contestant eliminations, to voting results that are never verified or disclosed. The producers at AI have successfully created a TV juggernaut. Do you really think they are going to let the idiots of America choose the "American Idol"?

Comparing both David is like comparing between Apple and Orange. It doesn't make sense. Cook has way more experiences, records, playing with his band, arranging songs etc,....and not to mention that he is way older than Archie (8 years older). His voice is already stabil, while Archie is 8 years younger, has only one vocal cord, less experinces the only experience was when he was 12 years old (again 12 years old)on Starch search. And with all those negativities stated by Naomi Judd, and others during the American Idol while he was competing......I don't think that we need to compare those two Davids. But one think for sure, Archie has a big heart and the wisdom to accept what people throw to him and go on and to me that's mazing .......he is still so young and yet he is so mature. I don't know if Cook was even near Archie when he was 17 years old. So stop comparing those two......it doesn't make any sense at all.

I lead the office fan club "We LOVE David Cook!!"My computer screen saver is all DC.I say hello to him all day and he rides to work and home with everyday. It wasn't just, Hello and Always Be My Baby that were ORIGINAL David Cook arrangements.

Little Sparrow was his own arrangement and both of the songs written for the song contest were his own arrangements. For his first single, he took a country song, written from a girl's perspective and turned it into a Top 40 hit.

David A looks like the MAD Magazine charachter cover boy - and in a few years, as he ages his voice will change..
David Cook has an amazing rock voice - and as for comments on original arrangements, please! Female contests get up and try and sing like Whitney Houston, or some other diva all the time.
