'90210'2.0 Class Picture

Categories: Television, Those Crazy Kids!

90210_l Check out the new cast of 90210. Look, there's Aunt Becky from Full House in the yellow dress and Lucille Bluth of Arrested Development in the hot pink blazer — but where' s David Silver in his fugly, long-sleeve silk paisley shirts from the early '90s? Where's Brandon 'n' Brenda Walsh? Yeah, Andrea Zuckerman was a 32-year-old teenager when the first series aired, but she can always come back and be one of the new teens' grandmothers, right? Jennie Garth's character Kelly Taylor will return to West Beverly as a high school guidance counselor, and now Tori Spelling is in talks to reprise her role as Donna Martin. Even Screech hung around at Bayside High as Mr. Belding's sdekick for Saved By the Bell: The New Class — so how about everyone else? Does the new cast compare with the old?

"Donna Martin Graduates!!!"

ihip Thu, Jul 3, 2008 at 04:52 PM EST

we hope it is a good show..... because the last seasons were good so dont let us down!!!!!!!!

Tonya Tue, May 20, 2008 at 11:55 PM EST

I loved the original show watched it every week and was very sad when it was taken off!!! I don't think it's going to be the same with out the original cast in it like Jennie Garth should of been one of the Mothers of one of the Teen Agers. The original cast Members should have the most imporant rolls in it ...They are what made Beverly Hills 90210 such a great show.

Nee Nee Wed, May 14, 2008 at 05:41 PM EST

I think it's a good idea to include one or two people from the original. It may keep the true fans watching longer. This one has serious fizzle potential.

Bethann Wed, May 14, 2008 at 03:14 PM EST

I'm pretty sure this show will be a total letdown for those of us who grew up with the original. But I will be one of those watching the pilot episode just to see...

Cristina Wed, May 14, 2008 at 01:07 PM EST

In all reality I will probably not watch this show. However, I used to WORSHIP the original and can;t help but read all the articles on the new 90210. My question is, instead of Donna Martin, shouldn't we be calling her Donna Silver or Donna Martin-Silver? I would just hate it if Donna and David were divorced. In my little mind, I like to think they lived happily ever after.

Chris G Wed, May 14, 2008 at 12:04 PM EST

Jessica Walter rules. "Oh that's how we joke, she doesn't even have a house!"

Dave Wed, May 14, 2008 at 11:29 AM EST

I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it...

...well, ok, maybe I will ;-) The original was great, and any show that features the wonderfully talented Jessica Walter (apparently ready to booze it up again as a Lucille Bluth-ish grandmother) will get my attention, at least in the beginning.

GeeMoney Wed, May 14, 2008 at 11:15 AM EST

Alright, I'm going to call it.... EVERYONE is going to watch the series premiere just to see what it's going to be like (a la, like the Joey series premiere) and then totally tune out after a few episodes.

Come on people, you know you are curious to see if the show is going to be any good... and I predict that everyone who responded to this post will be tuning into the series premiere! HAHA HAH AHAH HAHAH AHAA!

GingerCat Wed, May 14, 2008 at 11:09 AM EST

Martha, I believe Kelly majored in psychology, so it would make sense for her to be a guidance counselor.
I'm excited about the inclusion of Jessica Walter and Jennie Garth, but on the whole I can't help feeling that this project seems pretty lame.

Martha Wed, May 14, 2008 at 10:55 AM EST

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that whatever Kelly Taylor did with her life after the first 90210, it had nothing to do with becoming a high school guidance counselor? Just strikes a dischordant note for me. As does the presence of Jessica Walter.

Snarf Wed, May 14, 2008 at 10:42 AM EST

Those are some damn old looking teenagers.

n'Jeri Eaton Wed, May 14, 2008 at 10:38 AM EST

No! Not Tristan Wilds! He's way too good for this show. This reminds me of the travesty when they killed off Wallace and the actor ended up on "All my Children."

Where have I seen that guy in the middle? Wed, May 14, 2008 at 09:59 AM EST

Isn't that Token from South Park there in the middle of that photo? It's about time he got out of that crappy town in Colorado and moved to the Hills. Good for you Token.

GatorGal Wed, May 14, 2008 at 09:17 AM EST

This image doesn't give me high hopes. The best thing about the early seasons of 90210 is that episodes seem to reflect those that a reasonable high school would face: not having the trendiest clothes, worrying about the first date with your new boyfriend, learning to drive, etc. I'm afraid this picture makes it look like just another gossip girl - trashy characters in unrealistic situations.

Jill Wed, May 14, 2008 at 09:11 AM EST

What is Lori Loughlin's character supposed to be? She isn't dressed like a parent of a teenager. Where are Jim & Cindy Walsh when you need them?

confidential Wed, May 14, 2008 at 08:30 AM EST

This is the biggest "Who Cares" heard around the world!

Blehhh Wed, May 14, 2008 at 08:14 AM EST

WHY??!!!

Magic Wed, May 14, 2008 at 07:30 AM EST

And where's all the Mexicans, Blacks, and Asians? I see one token black dude, but that's it. That was one of the complaints regarding the original. Looks like they haven't learned their lesson. We live in a White World folks!

Houstonian Jen in DC Wed, May 14, 2008 at 04:42 AM EST

From West Baltimore to Beverly Hills! I will have to watch at least one episode of this to see how Tristan Wilds does. That kid is so talented---at the very least, I hope this show allows a bigger audience to see him in action.

Banana Wed, May 14, 2008 at 01:13 AM EST

omg. shenae grimes. i hope she makes this show degrassi-tastic.

Andre Wed, May 14, 2008 at 12:15 AM EST

Thank you! 90210 is my favorite serial! :)

No!!! Tristan Wilds belongs on the big screen. His outstanding performance on The Wire is Emmy worthy. Let's hope Hollywood creates much more meaningful parts for talented actors including all the actors on The Wire. Not this nonsense.

RayT Tue, May 13, 2008 at 09:43 PM EST

I don't know why, but I'm comforted by the fact that, for the most part, the principle cast members have normal first names like Michael, Jessica and Ryan. Not like Gossip Girl where their names are Blake, Leighton, Penn, Chace, and Taylor. The Gen-Z kids with their made-up names and last-names-as-first-names will have to wait a few more years before taking over!

Crystal Tue, May 13, 2008 at 09:27 PM EST

I agree with Elise - you can't tell which archetype they're supposed to be!! It is a stylish cast pic, though...this thing will eithet be huge or crash and burn, I think.

Anna Tue, May 13, 2008 at 09:22 PM EST

I think this is a terrible idea (Granted, I couldn't stand the first series). And it makes me sad that Jessica Walter and Tristan Wilds are wallowing in this mess after coming off of two of the greatest shows in tv history.

aramis Tue, May 13, 2008 at 09:06 PM EST

It's a sad state of television when gameshows, game-reality hybrids, reality shows, karaoke contests, and rehashed teen dramas that died a good tv death long ago with the promise that they'll never again be on tv because I think we were so ready for the show to be over with are crowding the airwaves overshadowing such gems as 30Rock. Is TvLand THAT dead on ideas? Seriously? Inquiring minds want to know.

elise Tue, May 13, 2008 at 08:42 PM EST

They all pretty much look the same. At least in the original, they were dressed according to their personalities. I guess the girl in the brown is suppose to be the conservative one? lol.
