Couple wed at 'Made of Honor' premiere (CRAZY or cool?)

Wedding_l A couple wed at the New York City premiere of Patrick Dempsey's romantic comedy, Made of Honor, on Monday night. I knew this was going to happen because I received an email from the menswear company Arnold Brant, saying it was clothing the groom in an Arnold Brant cashmere tux. Dempsey and costar Michelle Monaghan witnessed the nuptials — which Mary Hart officiated. Is this CRAZY or cool?

I mean, sure, it's a good way for the husband to be certain that his wife is committed to him (if she stared at Dempsey when she said "I do," I'm sure someone would've objected). It will be a good story to tell at parties for years to come. And Dempsey probably would have performed the African anteater ritual as a "wedding present," if you asked him to nicely.... Okay, maybe I just talked myself into it. (No, wait, not really.)

So, would you get married at a film premiere? And if so, who would you choose as your celebrity officiator?* (Not that I'm implying they chose Mary Hart.)

*Hey, I guess there was still an inane question left for me to ask on PopWatch!

this is the bride and we are SO happy we did this. to the one comment about the sanctity of marriage....we are both christians and that is why we are having a christian ceremony in august. (and the mary hart thing was a surprise!) we entered this contest never thinking we'd win and before we knew it, sony was flying us to new york for a week of the royal treatment. it was an AMAZING experience and i feel like the luckiest girl in the world b/c i get to marry shaun twice!

I was actually at the premiere and at first I thought it was rediculous but it turned out to be really nice. Also, the couple is suppose to have another wedding cermony which they planned at first. I would have maybe picked someone different to wed them....but it actually turned out to be a really nice ceremony and the couple seemed reallly happy

I don't want to get all political but marriages like this and those on reality shows frustrate me so much. There is no class or respect for the sanctity of marriage. Yet gay marriages take away from the spirituality of straight ones. Go figure lol.

Poor Mary...they've pulled her face so tight, she can't see when she smiles...

DanOregon Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

I don't think anybody covers Entertainment Tonight, better than Entertainment Tonight. I just don't understand why they even bother having celebrities on to get in the way. The "interview" with Rob Lowe, complete with a consoling hug by Jann Karl last week was journalism at its finest. A two and a half minute interview following about 35 minutes of teases and previews the previous week. WTF?

Robb Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

Boy, that's a mighty wedding-appropriate dress Mary Hart is wearing to officiate. Nothing says true love like a hot pink dress. She's ridiculous. The whole thins is ridiculous. I hope that couple got a lot of money and a free honeymoon out of it.
As for if I'd do it... I might, if the deal was good enough.

Being that I am Jewish, my dad would want Jackie Mason because he was once a Rabbi but I vote Little Richard. He's so much fun.

African Anteater Ritual. lol!

newshound23 Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 01:04 PM EST

So cheesy and tacky I can't stand it! Mary Hart as minister? Is she kidding? How desperate is ET for ratings?!

marilinda Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 12:26 PM EST

that kiss looks disgusting.

laura Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 11:46 AM EST

YaaaaAAawn!

Snarf Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 11:24 AM EST

If I wanted the attention and the whore myself out so I didn't have to pay for the threads, for sure. Think I'd like Robin Williams to officiate.
It might be many things but it wouldn't be dull.

Crystal Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 10:44 AM EST

No, I wouldn't, although Dixie has intrigued me with the idea of Little Richard!
Also, bonus points to this post for linking to "Can't Buy Me Love"'s scene of awesomeness (one of many)!

Dixie Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 10:30 AM EST

I don't know if I'd get married at a premiere, unless it was paid for & all my family could come. But I would like to have Little Richard as a celebrity officiant (he's an ordained minister).

Lyn Wed, Apr 30, 2008 at 10:23 AM EST

I'm Jewish, so I would love if the Gyllenhaal siblings could do it together.
