The Must List from hell

I'm late in responding to this, but I watched Aliens in America for the first time the other week - the ep where the mother/son participated in the community theater's production of RENT. It was a funny and sweet show and, given that RENT will end its Broadway run this year, a nice showcase for it.

I will also (only somewhat guiltily) admit that I think the new British Bachelor is hawt and funny, making it a must watch for me this season.

Sarah Chalke on How I Met Your Mother - I am hoping she's "the one" for Ted, she was great in this role!!

After Joe's GENIUS and ROCKIN' dream sequence(set to Kanye's Good Life, of course) of hitting it big with his invention, and then the very realistic and true-to-real-life-marriage smackdown of his wife's appalled reaction to his idea of sinking the kid's college fund into his invention, all of America should add MEDIUM to their MUST LIST. Relate much to this marriage? Why, yes. Yes I do. LOVE it!

My vote is for Kathleen Edwards' album, 'Asking For Flowers'. Its lovely, intelligent, and sometimes heartbreaking songs make it a definite must. Plus, EW did not review this album. Give Kathleen some extra exposure, and show her some love on the Must List!

Panic At the Disco's "Pretty.Odd." It stays true to the band's quirky spirit, while mixing it up old school with lots of horns and strings.
I second the vote for Passing Strange and if we're talking theater anyway, I'm going to throw out In the Heights. It's set in Washington Heights and focuses on the thriving latino/a community there, using a hip-hop/salsa/rock/Broadway score.

-New Danity Kane album. That CD is fire for me.
-The Other Boelyn Girl. I love this book.
-All 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls on DVD. I miss this dearly departed show. I'm glad that I can go back to Stars Hollow whenever I want to.

-The new B-52's album Funplex, especially the title track and "Juliet of the Spirits". They haven't lost their stuff and it fills me with glitter joy, hot pink happiness and an intense need to dance.
-The L Word. I hate to admit it, but season five was actually pretty good. I still haven't forgiven Ilene Chaiken for season three, but I've lost that intense need to rant when the show is mentioned.

I'm going to throw some theater into the mix:

"Passing Strange", it's on broadway now. It's an amazing musical memoir following the life of STEW, a musician raised in the black church in South Central LA--who was more interested in punk and rock music. He travels to Amsterdam and Berlin to find himself. I've seen many, many a show in my life, but nothing affected me the way this show did. Go see it. The performances are amazing! Rush tickets are sold on the morning of the show for 26 bucks, so you have no more excuses. GO!

Aliens in America has totally charmed its way into my heart. It is a funny, sweet, realistic portrait of a mid-western family who has brought in a Muslim exchange student. Particularly the recent episode in which Justin stars as Roger in Rent opposite his mother as Mimi. But possibly my favorite moment so far was in that same episode when Raja and Claire connected.
I love this show and hope that there is someway it will be saved at the CW.

It's on hiatus right now, but I'm addicted to Psych on the USA network. The Shawn and Gus characters have such comedic chemistry I almost pee myself just looking at them in scene together. Plus, they consistently make jokes about pineapples hilarious.

- The other amazing CW supernatural show... Supernatural. The boys look amazing. The car looks amazing. And even though this season is currently on post-Writer's Strike hiatus, the plot is looking amazing.

- Indie music OTHER than Vampire Weekend. Enough, I say! They're taking over the blogs! Try some Seabear or Band of Horses! Sure, their albums came out a while ago, but I don't feel they had enough exposure.

Degrassi! It's Canadian, incredibly addictive and awesome. The storylines are usually outrageous; they've covered everything from pregnancy and abortion to drugs and rape. I'm obsessed with the characters and their stories and I tell everyone I know to watch the show.

Greek on ABC Family. I only just found this show when I started watching the first season just to see if it was any good: I finished all 10 episodes that night. The characters and situations are always funny and Cappie is one of my favorite characters on tv right now. His speeches and conversations are full of pop culture references and his character is the best part of the show.

Music: Snoop Dogg's "Sensual Seduction" remix featuring Robyn. One the 90's first pop-tarts does a 180 and the result is awesomeness.

Movies: I know I'm late but "No Country for Old Men" on DVD. I now understand the hype...the movie? Well, let's say that it more than DESERVES a few more viewings.

TV: "Throwdown with Bobby Flay". The man can cook everything and do it well. Damn him and his culinary skills!

For me, the ultimate gangster film, and top love story all rolled into one provocative, brilliant film. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway are stunning, and have nothing less then intense chemistry.

1) 4 Minutes by Madonna & Justin Timberlake: The chorus "Time is Waiting. . We only got four minutes to save the world" is pretty much the catchiest thing I've heard in awhile. . actually, since Sexyback. Damn you Justin Timberlake and your addictive songs! :)

With that being said, my Must for this week is Madonna, I can't wait for her new Hard Candy Album. Once again she proves herself to be the Queen of reinvention.

Gary - I think you mean moving Reaper to Thursdays is going to hasten its demise. It just recently moved from Tuesdays.

As for a must list, I'm still stuck on Vampire Weekend, I think Idol fans would hate themselves less if they were watching Beauty and the Geek, and I share a big love for HIMYM.
