60! and still ridiculously amazing i bet! I blame this man solely for my direct and narrow obsession and passion for a certain type of man (physically). I to was a huge beastmaster and V fanatic (still am actually) and could possibly have found th eroute to loving sci-fi and 80's a-/b flicks and shows! I blame marc! whenever you want to have it out just let me know fisher!

I remember seeing Singer in the TV-movie "Something for Joey" as a pre-teen and thinking he was just the dreamiest thing, like, EVER! And then being so disappointed he went on to do B-movie stuff like Beastmaster because "Joey" was, ya know, such quality material (ahem). Though why I didn't appreciate the whole shirtlessness aspect of his later work is beyond me.

Friedman, you make a fantastic point. The "invasion by...(insert villain here like fascists, communists or space aliens)" was a common device in sci fi and action films throughout the 1980s.

While the threat of an all out invasion of the USA now seems like fiction in its purest sense (as in, it's pretty unlikely that it could ever happen), it still makes for great storylines. For example, there's already an Xbox 360 game in the works that uses a premise in which the Germans won WWII.

There's a few constructivist poli sci types who've argued that the concept of an outside threat is what frequently brings the people of a nation together. V actually lived that philosophy. In the post-Alien Invasion America, there wasn't any racism nor did it seem inequality among those who resisted the aliens.

Anyway, sorry to digress, but this new V series sounds like it'll be gangbusters when it comes out! Woo Hoo!

I just recently watched V and V:THE FINAL BATTLE mini-series on DVD. While the sci-fi may seem dated now, it was quite a big television event back in 1983 and 1984. The fascist-rule-by-an-invading-element theme of the story is still chilling, even today.

BTW, if you think Marc is hot and want to see him in something really, really excellent, his 1976 performance as Petruchio in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (Mostly shirtless with an enormous codpiece in his tights) is available on DVD from KULTUR.com It is a first-rate production, taped for PBS over 30 years ago, when Marc was at the height of his physical perfection, and he reminds you that he's a real actor and not just an action hunk. He's also tremendously sexy in it.

I met Marc Singer (Who is the cousin of director Bryan Singer) last year. Yes, his skin is a tad leathery and weathered, but he is still VERY fit and in great shape. As hot 60 year olds go, he's top of the line. And he didn't have a problem with my confessing my long-time gay crush on him. And he is still working, but obviously, not in A-list stuff. Very nice, gracious man. Happy birthday, Marc.

OMG, i thought Marc Singer was sooooo hot when i was younger and more prone to watch action b-movies on cinemax way before it decided to go full-tilt softcore porn all night long.

i remember i fantasized about making an action movie of my own with Marc Singer as an 'indy jones-type' adventurer with a wise-cracking sidekick played by this other actor that i saw around the same time in a movie called 'Cannibal Women in The Avocado Jungle of Death'.. What was his name....? oh yeah, Bill Maher!

Man, I LOOOOOVED the Beastmaster and looooved V even more! I can't wait to see a new mini series come out, and hope some of the actors from the original will get to cameo.

Oh, and can we get Grace Park to play the villain this time? V'd be well served by another hottie villain with sci fi credentials...
