Felicity as Wonder Woman: Just up the scale!

Russell_wonder_woman_l I know all PopWatch posts about Keri Russell are supposed to start "Dear Felicity," but alas, I am not Michael Slezak and do not have a firmly established pen pal relationship with this woman. This... Wonder Woman! According to TV Guide, Felicity's going to voice the superheroine in Warner Bros.' straight-to-DVD animated flick. It's an apt choice; Felicity did kick ass in Mission: Impossible, so we know she's already an action heroine. But could Felicity also play the live-action Wonder Woman that's been in the works forever? My first response: Absolutely not, she's too short! And yet...

Technology is getting so complicated lately. I say for the live-action movie, Warners needs to hire a zany digital effects crew that will be responsible for increasing the SCALE of Felicity so that she's taller – and generally larger — than everyone else in any given shot. She's so naturally tiny that this could work. She'd only look slightly gargantuan, which is exactly how Wonder Woman should look! Who's with me?

I watched "I Robot" (Will Smith) again the other day and noticed how exquisite Diana Prince/Wonder Woman BRIDGET MOYNAHAN would make! Were it not for her thick Italian accent, however, Monica Bellucci of "The Matrix" would make an incredible Wonder Woman. I'd tell lies all day long just to get whipped with that golden lasso!

She is pretty and a decent actress but she is way too petite for a part in the live action movie. Isn't she like 5'3 or 5'4? The perfect person to cast in this part used to be Jennifer Garner in my opinion. Perhaps another JJ Abrams acolyte, Evangeline Lily.

Not only is Wonder Woman an Amazon, she's strong. Keri Russell, while she may be a serviceable actress, is not only short, but frail!

Not only is Wonder Woman an Amazon, she's athletic. Keri Russell, while she may be a serviceable actress, is not only short, but frail!

Dear Felicity!
I cannot believe the Academy and the Media has not taken your performance on Waitress seriously. I thought it was one of the best of the year! if you do indeed become Wonder Woman, I would not complain. I'm not as excited because Wheddon is no longer making it, but if you can get your pal J.J. to get interested in the product, then by all means.

Sure she could play a live action Wonder Woman, what does height matter? Tom Cruise looks big in his movies and that guy's like 5'7.

Now that Whedon's off Wonder Woman...I officially don't care. Moving on...

Did I miss Keri Russel morphing into Joan Allen?

Raven_Moon Wed, Jan 16, 2008 at 01:18 AM EST

Should Keri Russell be Wonder Woman? I'm sticking with your fisrt response: "Absolutely not!" I have new appeciation for her since "Waitress," but an Amazonian super heroine she is not.

seriously, chill out, Lauren. this is supposed to be fun, you know.

BrandonK Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 06:30 PM EST

Jeez, Lauren...I think anyone familiar with the Mission: Impossible movies and/or Keri Russell's career would remember that she was in M:I 3. Are you that rude to people's faces, or is it just because you're posting anonymously on a blog? Be nice.

oh sean...why can't we have both acting and looks? it's not like i'm saying they should cast chyna. :-)

sean Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 06:22 PM EST

i think that it could work, esp. since when they up her scale she'll get thicker as so many other posters seem to think she needs to be.

personally i don't think they'd have to do anything with her scale to be a great wonder woman. i know ww is supposed to be an amazon (something keri is distinctly not), but i'd be fine with a smaller woman that can act the part well rather than simply a woman that fits the physical requirements but can't act for peanuts.

Martha Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 06:18 PM EST

Ouch, Lauren. Tough crowd.

amazonica Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 04:57 PM EST

as far as i'm concerned, being that wonder women is an amazon, none of the size 2 chicks in hollywood can fill her fabulous red boots! (felicity won me over after i saw 'waitress' so i have nothing against her.)

Annie Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 04:40 PM EST

Hmm. She was in Mission: Impossible III. I'll add the roman numerals to the post pronto.

Lauren Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 04:32 PM EST

Do you fact check at all or is this the drivel that doesn't make the magazine?

Emmanuelle Béart was in Mission: Impossible not Keri Russell...I'm sure she'd be flattered though.

BrandonK Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

Wonder Woman absolutely should be at least 6 feet tall and very toned. However, I'd be willing to give Keri Russell a shot because I think she's a great actress. They certainly can do amazing things with special effects...just look at the Gandalf-Hobbit stuff in the LOTR movies.

wolintz Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

Haha, true, she's tiny but under Annie's suggestion she wouldn't look tiny anymore if her scale was increased. She's obviously joking though. What about Megan Fox?

celia Tue, Jan 15, 2008 at 03:51 PM EST

Not me. Wonder Woman is not "tiny". Do you even know what an Amazon is? Amazons are not bean poles. WW should be tall and thicker, not a stick think hollywood girl.
