Adamses_l I notice that today (Nov. 5) is the birthday of both Ryan Adams (left), who turns 33, and Bryan Adams (right), who turns 48. That must make Ryan furious.

James Tue, Nov 6, 2007 at 01:34 AM EST

Ryan scares me...really scares me

Ed Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 11:36 PM EST

Bryan Adams looks pin thin, skinny chic, anorexic, skeletor and emaciated - what happened?

Simpsonium Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 08:53 PM EST

Bryan Adams jump-the-shark-moment - All For Love (the 3-way with Sting and Rod Stewart from the 3 musketeers movie with Charlie Sheen (!)

Hey, Bryan had the birthday first, the career first, the name(ish) first. Oh, I guess that's why Ryan goes nuts. If you can't be first, at least be original and if you can't be original, be Ryan. (way more snark than he deserves but I can't help myself)

DK Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 05:19 PM EST

LOL, Nathan. :)

Kate Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 04:58 PM EST

Are you KIDDING me? That has got to be the cruelest of coincidences for RYAN Adams! :) (For the record, I never understood why Ryan hasn't gone back to David either...)

nathan Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 04:44 PM EST

I think what would be more impressive is to find someone Princess Diana DIDN'T sleep with.

nathan Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 04:41 PM EST

Wow, Bryan's been sucking longer than Ryan's been alive. Happy 33rd Ryan!

Hey JackFear-- Ryan was a child long before Bryan Adams was popular, and has been going by Ryan since childhood. He didn't "change" his name, nor did he choose to go by the similar moniker on purpose. Now, while you go look up "moniker" in the dictionary, I'll go listen to Ryan's far superior music.

Oh, and To L-- you clearly don't know the actual meaning of "jumping the shark." It has nothing to do with whether or not the song was popular, it has to do with the "moment when something that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity." The moment the once-quality rock and roll artist did such a formulaic pop number, regardless of popularity, was the moment said quality began its downhill slide.

How could that song be jumping the shark (an overdone phrase by the way) when it was nominated for Academy Award, Golden Globe and won a Grammy? And it was the number 1 songs for weeks! It's OK if you don't like the song but it certainly wasn't bad for his career.

Ryan Adams would be better off if he would grow a sense of humor and shower. Even with his bad skin, Bryan Adams is still way hotter. And a hell of a lot richer. (And slept with Princess Diana!)

Jack Fear Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:54 PM EST

@BrandonK: "I'm surprised [Ryan] didn't change his name or something." The funny thing is - according to AllMusic.com, at least - his full name is David Ryan Adams. So he kinda did; if it irritates him now, well, he's got no one but himself to blame.

BrandonK Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:46 PM EST

No way...that is too weird a coincidence! For the longest time I thought Ryan was Bryan and people were just referencing him incorrectly or something! LOL It probably does make Ryan mad, from what I've heard of him. I'm surprised he didn't change his name or something.

L Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:42 PM EST

Oh Bryan "Everything I Do" Adams? I'm pretty sure that was his shark jumping career moment.

coltsfan Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:40 PM EST

I have loved Bryan Adams since high school. I said hi to him backstage at a concert in Indy and he was nice. I have no idea who Ryan A. is or what he sings.

Sarah Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:25 PM EST

Bryan A does NOT look almost 50.

fredric Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 03:05 PM EST

I heart Bryan. He was lots of fun.

DK Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 02:50 PM EST

I heart Ryan Adams. Bryan has his place, sure, but Ryan is brilliant.

Spoosh Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 02:43 PM EST

Bryan Adams is not 48. Don't you know that he's 18 'til he dies?

Nat X Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 02:41 PM EST

Ha, that's awesome. I prefer Bryan to Ryan anyday. "Everywhere I go, the kids wanna ROCK!" There is absolutely nothing pretentious about that dude.

Larry Mon, Nov 5, 2007 at 02:39 PM EST

You know Ryan must be seething. Read somewheres that he went ape when someone requested at one of his concerts that he perform the "Summer of 69." Ouch!
