There's no business like show bid-ness!

Lindsay_l Sometime last week, the sock (that's right, a sock) worn by the cameraman whose foot Britney allegedly ran over was reportedly sold on eBay for more than $1,000. Disappointed you missed your chance to bid? No worries, as celebrity paraphernalia is never in short supply. This week, you can purchase the actual Mercedez-Benz convertible driven (and crashed) by Lindsay Lohan (pictured) for a mere $120,000. Behind the wheel of this dream ride, you'll see the world the way we imagine LiLo sees it, through cracked glass. Don't let your current anonymity put the anti-lock brakes on your budding celebrity: buy this car today, sit back, and set the cruise control for your own road trip of fame, misfortune, and frequent traffic-law citations.

Okay, I wouldn't break my bank account to buy Lindsay's car. But I'll admit, eBay has quite an addictive quality, and I find myself wondering if, perhaps, I really need a personalized Patrick Dempsey screen print pillowcase. Or considering where I'd display a $400 bust of Harrison Ford as the legendary Indiana Jones. Or deciding if I'd use a Fight Club bar of soap for practical or decorative purposes. My own fascination notwithstanding, I've never actually bought anything off eBay, but I'm wondering, what's your biggest entertainment-themed purchase? Do you look at your life-sized wax replica of Wayne Newton and think that maybe you should have saved your money for something a little more practical? Like food? Or rent? Or are you very happy with your decision to get that Star Trek Worf Starfleet wrist lamp?

My single most expensive entertainment-themed purchase was a set of four helmet replicas from The Return of the King.

Collectively, though, my complete collection (39 and counting) of Justice League Unlimited action figure 3-packs add up to a LOT more.

I love Ebay and pop culture, so the quesrtion is what HAVEN'T I bought there? Here's my personal favorites:
Pete Tomarken's suit- The host of "Press your Luck" sold off all the suits he wore on the tv show. I still have the canceled check for $28.70 (signed by Mr. Tomarken) wear the suit with pride.

Minmei Walking Doll Kit- From Robotech, this is as the hardest to find Robotech/Macross item of all time!

Warriors replica Jacket-for Halloween last year.

Wolverine movie replica claws-these look so badazz! Real claws with invisible wires looked just like the movie!

Original Flash Gordon movie poster- Foolish Earthlings, who'll save you now?

I've also got a HUGE Transformers collection and a series of several hard to find figures. Most of it's from Ebay. Do I regret any of these purchases? Only those for things that couldn't resell later and those I was forced to sell (like my Mint on card complete set of Welcome Back Kotter figures).

My dad sent me to get toilet paper at the store, so I bought him Anne Coulter's book on clearance.

I bought a Britney Spears light switch cover for 99 cents as an "ironic" touch to my dorm bathroom.

My husband gave me a Frodo doll for Valentine's Day. That guy really loves me!

Christian Bale's Newsboy Union card. But that wasn't on eBay, that was a fan club auction for one of his charities, back in the day of the Baleheads. Le sigh. Our boy's all grown up and star-ry.
