Who's missing from EW.com's Ultimate Hotties galleries?

Oct 12, 2007, 06:00 AM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Water cooler

Hotties_l It's hard work here at the EW.com salt mines, sitting around all day cogitating on such weighty matters as who the sexiest entertainers of all time are. Our labors have resulted in the six galleries you've seen over the last three weeks, tracing the hottest male and female performers of the last several decades; the final one, featuring vintage hot male stars from the 1960s and earlier, went up today. The hardest part of our task, of course, was deciding who didn't quite make the cut. No doubt many of you share the outrage and disappointment of many EW.com staffers (and my inner 13-year-old boy) that we couldn't find room for Lynda Carter. Or Leonardo DiCaprio — he's not my cup of saltwater, but the guy did sell a billion dollars worth of movie tickets to smitten teen girls, so I don't think he deserved to be tossed overboard.

Here's where you get to tell us how we messed up. Check out our hotties galleries and tell us which hottie performers we should have included. Please defend your choice with a sentence describing that guy or gal's ultimate hottie moment -- the onscreen scene or stage appearance that cement's the performer's place in the hottie hall of fame. We'll take your best blurbs and pit your wild card picks against our own historical hotties for an ultimate hottie showdown. It won't be pretty. Actually, it will.

Excuse me? Where, oh, where is Mark Wahlberg? Maybe because you couldn't decide on ONE hot moment? Anytime that man walks on the screen, especially if he's shirtless, my heart races! Never mind what he does to my lower extremities!!!!!!!!

JC Tue, Jun 17, 2008 at 05:01 PM EST

I can't believe you guys left off Michael Ealy from Barber Shop. He was hot & yummy!

Naked Bacon Wed, May 21, 2008 at 09:12 AM EST

What about MacGyver?? Any guy who can make a bomb out of iron shavings, duct tape and bubble gum or who doesn't even have a first name deserves a Hottie Nod. We will even forgive Richard Dean Anderson for the mullet years -- I would help Russians defect, dimantle bombs, or battle Murdoch any day if I could live happily ever after with MacGyver!

srlchai Tue, May 20, 2008 at 12:25 PM EST

You must include Richard Armitage of the 2004 BBC production "North and South" and currently seen on the BBC's Robin Hood. He is FANTASTIC!!!

Tammy S Fri, May 16, 2008 at 10:41 PM EST

How can you forget Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar?!?

Marie Fri, Apr 11, 2008 at 11:19 AM EST

The 90's to now list is good but you guys left out some very sexy guys. Maybe you should have a list for TV's hottest guys. For example:

JENSEN ACKELS - Supernatural
Alex O'Loughlin - Moonlight
Julian McMahon - Nip/Tuck and Charmed
Tom Wellings - Smallville
Benjamin Mckenzie - The OC
Eric Dane - hello? McSteamy!
Chad Michael Murray - One Tree Hill
Michael Anthony Hall - he's come a long way since Pretty in Pink or The Breakfast Club!
Brian Krause - Charmed. He has a quiet, subtle sexiness.
Jason Priestley - 90210
Luke Perry - 90210. Hello! that show was HUGE in the 90's. It was on for 10 years.

Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 09:39 PM EST

I couldn't BELIEVE you guys left out Keira Knightley! I mean COME ON!!!

Ashlee Wed, Feb 6, 2008 at 01:48 PM EST

How about paying respect to the late Heath Ledger? He definately deserves a place in this gallery. Hottie Moment? Definately a scene from A Knights' Tale.

Katt Wed, Feb 6, 2008 at 01:43 PM EST

Daniel Craig, in his moment of glory walking out of the sea in *those* skintight shorts.
My ultimate scene for Hugh Grant (whilst still loving the Four Weddings and a Funeral) is when he is Daniel Cleaver from Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason in Thailand with Bridget, on his balcony pointing out the stars.

SupermanBlue Mon, Feb 4, 2008 at 03:43 PM EST

Scarlett Johansson walking around in her hotel room in Lost in Translation.

Shauna Sun, Feb 3, 2008 at 06:13 PM EST

Orlando "Pirates 3: Remove the boot from whats-her-name's leg and ever so gently without breaking eye contact brush up against deftly and kiss the inside thigh gently" Bloom

Elisabeth Sun, Feb 3, 2008 at 05:29 PM EST

Jr. Bourne should definitively be on the list of the hottest men.

Janet Sat, Feb 2, 2008 at 11:14 AM EST

No J-Lo?? Or Sharon Stone? Or Michelle Pheiffer (think Fabulous Baker Boys), Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Lane, Kate Winslet???? This list is NOT representative of America's favorites. It's like an off, off-Broadway production.

Stephanie Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

How about some more TV hotties on your male stars list? Alex O'Loughlin's smoldering stare deserves a mention. Also, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as those Winchester boys -- you could probably start a TV's Hottest Brother Act list with those two.

Rich Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 07:05 AM EST

Where oh..where is Robin Mead the hottie with the news! Hottest moment..every morning on Headline News......she wakes me up!

Gail Wed, Jan 23, 2008 at 04:48 PM EST

Eddie Cibrian from "Invasion" is the hunkiest guy on the small screen in recent years

Adam Mon, Jan 21, 2008 at 06:23 AM EST

Mark Wahlberg, Jason Statham, and of course, Vin Diesel.

CHERYL Mon, Jan 21, 2008 at 02:45 AM EST

I can't believe you did not pick Henry Simmons - NYPD Blue. Hmmmmmmmmm his abs are to die for and his height is a definite plus. Yeah you forgot a good one.

inspec chas Sat, Jan 19, 2008 at 08:02 AM EST

Jake Sat, Jan 19, 2008 at 02:05 AM EST

Those guys are all completely HOT but what about Jonathon Rhys Meyers, I love him in Tudors. I'd love to get my hands on him?

Reeta Wed, Jan 16, 2008 at 01:18 PM EST

Those guys are all completely HOT but what about Jonathon Rhys Meyers, I love him in Tudors. I'd love to get my hands on him?

90's;sharon stone-basic instinct, demi moore-pottery wheel in "ghost", diane lane in "unfaithful", charisma carpenter from angel, sarah michelle gellar in buffy, amanda peet in anything, 80's jennifer connelly in labrythinth (ok she was young-but hot)...you missed too many!

Nikki Sun, Jan 13, 2008 at 05:15 AM EST

Two words...Jessica Simpson!

Betsy Fri, Dec 28, 2007 at 02:49 AM EST

Where is Gary Dourdan?? He's so hot, I'm melting!

maria Thu, Dec 27, 2007 at 07:43 PM EST

Gerard Butler- that voice, that body, and only seeing half his face, in Phantom of the Opera he was wickedly hot and smoldering....he's definitely bringing sexy back over and over and over again in everything that's followed.

wendy Thu, Dec 27, 2007 at 03:45 PM EST

MARK WAHLBERG!!!!!!! How on earth did you miss him out? He's been hot all the way from the 90's to 2007! - Marky Mark!,those Calvin Klein adds, the titles sequence for The Big Hit- where he's working out, Those Leather pants in Rock Star, Playing FootBall in the rain & mud with his buddies in Invincible, Mark as a Fireman in Huckabees, All of Shooter, Bad boy Bobby avenging his mothers death in Four brothers, getting steamy in The Corruptor & Renaissance Man, charging about the desert in Three Kings, need I continue? The man is not only gorgeous but a super talented actor too! You also never see him splashed across the tabloids every five minutes like so many other celebs. He totally stole the show in The Departed, by the way why aren't Matt & Leo on the list? My personal favorite hottie moment is when he returns to being Chris Cole at the end of Rock Star and sings Colorful, he looks so vulnerable yet absolutely happy, jeans and a jumper never looked soo good! He's No 1 in my book!

Elisabeth Thu, Dec 27, 2007 at 03:59 AM EST

Good call on Russell Crowe, Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman...but I demand Gerard Butler. I know EW hates him, but he had an 8 pack in 300! But it's not just that--I've met him and his eyes are jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

S mackey Wed, Dec 26, 2007 at 05:59 PM EST

Where's Bruce ?
Josh Logan?
And why are the men fully dressed and the women half-naked? Women like to see a little skin too.

Mary Tue, Dec 25, 2007 at 10:39 PM EST

What about Tom Welling. Oh my gosh have you seen his photos! He is just great as a young Clark Kent in Smallville. I'm 50 years old and I never get tired of looking at him!

day1hc Tue, Dec 25, 2007 at 01:34 PM EST

Gerard Butler 300

Jim Sun, Dec 23, 2007 at 11:57 AM EST

I'm suprised that you don't have Jennifer Love Hewitt in there, her outfits from Heartbreakers was what let the world know that she's not that shy girl from Party of Five.

Tonya Sat, Dec 22, 2007 at 06:58 PM EST

I really thought that a list this thorough would have had Mads Mikhelson on it. He was smoking hot as Tristan in "King Arthur" with his broody, rugged good looks and is a confirmed non one-hit wonder with his appearance in "Casino Royale". If you haven't checked him out than it is your loss.

Jennifer Mon, Dec 17, 2007 at 11:01 AM EST

Where is Billy Zane?? He seems to be left off of almost every list I see of "Hottest Men"!! With his tan skin, dark hair and smoldering dark brown eyes, he sure makes me melt... He was WAY hotter than Leo DiCaprio in Titanic!!

Miranda Wed, Dec 12, 2007 at 03:11 PM EST

I know that it's been ages since the original galleries were put up, but...

I have to metion two people. Where's Adrien Brody? Sure his Diet Coke commercial is better left for gotten, but he brings his A game with every role. Plus, he captured my attention with The Thin Red Line where he had all of 5 minutes of screen time..that's saying something don't you think?

Second person is Buster Keaton. Iknow that he's from the dawn of film, but I can think of no other person who can make me care for them so much while making me laugh.

As for the whole Alan Rickman fan club, I belong. I know that he may seem only average to some people, but he's more than enough for me. Let's face it...hotness is incredibly subjective.

Rae Mon, Dec 10, 2007 at 11:47 PM EST

Jason Thompson!!!! He plays Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital, and he is the most gorgeous, beautiful man in the world! People magazine named him "Sexiest Soap Star" this year!

Alphie Tue, Dec 4, 2007 at 02:22 PM EST

No one can deny the obvious charisma
of David Boreanaz. Every woman's dream
is to be held close within his arms.
And that smile is "melt my heart why don't you". Wow! He's a 10 out of 10!

Dori Sun, Dec 2, 2007 at 07:55 PM EST

Hey there...what about James Stewart?? He's the major old time hottie to me!!

anita Sun, Dec 2, 2007 at 05:31 PM EST

what happened to leonardo dicaprio? he made the nineties, the late nineties at least.this countdown really needs to be redone. DO OVER!

Haley Fri, Nov 30, 2007 at 06:16 AM EST

You picked the wrong Beatle lol. Yes, Paul McCartney was the "Cute One" but George Harrison was HOT. You want sexy, that's who you should have put up in that list of 60's/70's stars.

As far as the hottest, hmm give me some Josh Holloway from Lost.

Maggie Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 09:58 PM EST

I can't believe you left JENSEN ACKLES off the list. He steals every scene he's in. All I have to do is hear his sexy voice and look into those green eyes and I'm a puddle of goo.

Desiree Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 09:29 PM EST

JIM CAVIEZEL AND JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS for male.

DITA VON TEESE and SHANIA TWAIN for female.

Cat Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:55 PM EST

TOM SELLECK!!! I mean, it's got to mean SOMETHING when a GUY starts the Hot Pants craze!!!!!!

tammy hodge Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:50 PM EST

sam elliot- katherine ross knew a good thing when she saw it. For his movies? Conagher, The lifeguard, The shadow riders
Just listen to his voice.

Hann Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:36 PM EST

Where the heck is ERIC BANA????!!!!!

Ultimate Hottie Moment:
All scenes in Munich especially when he cried after hearing his daughter talk and that scene when Ayelet Zurer (his wife in the movie) teased him about being corny.

Marvin Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:36 PM EST

For shame!! Latinas are taking over the world in the 21st century and to omit Roselyn Sanchez is...NOT CIVILIZED!! "Boat Trip" with Cuba Gooding, last 15 minutes of the flic, Cuba via parachute on his way down to see Ms Sanchez, that lovely see-thru shirt she's wearing not to mention her "banana" eating scene!! RECOUNT, please!!

Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:35 PM EST

Where's Pierce Brosnan for the 70s & 80s?

J. W. Coffey Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:34 PM EST

Where's Orlando Bloom??? And Gerard Butler??? And David Wenham??? Geez, you left off three ultra ultimate hotties!!

Tara Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:22 PM EST

I can't believe you didn't include Christina Aguilera. I always thought she was much more beautiful than Britney Spears...and with a lot more talent. I'm also surprised at no Gwen Stefani. But I do have to applaud you for putting up Monica Belucci and Kate Beckinsale.

A JB Lover Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 08:10 PM EST

What about the Jonas Brothers? They're burning up the music charts. Just ask any teen girl, and she'd scream, or jump up and down, or faint with excitement just hearing about them.

Danielle Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 07:23 PM EST

Gerard Butler should have made the list. He can make a great villian (Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life) or Hero (Beowulf and Grendle, 300)

christina Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 07:23 PM EST

i guess to an extent i like the rugged, slightly unshaved look and the always sexy stare of ocean blue eyes, i would have to say that josh lucas is a piece of art in his own right

Annette Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 07:20 PM EST

Danzel is the hotest hands down, Not only is he sexy, hes a wonderful father, husband (& from the Oprah show yesterday )hes also a great friend & mentor. Good looks are skin deep, but the rest is forever.
Also Sean Connerly, the older he gets the hotter he is whewwwww, that accent makes me sweat..

Jane Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 06:32 PM EST

Simon Baker!!
Simon Baker!!
Go see "Something New" and you'll agree!!!

Scott Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 05:08 PM EST

YOU HAVE TO PUT IN THE GIRL """"JILL NELSON"""" FORM THE NEW RASCAL FLATTS VIDEO 'TAKE ME THERE'. She is no where else on the net aside from her home town online newspaper. Mark my words... 'She is going to be a big star.' Absolutely beautiful.....uhhhh.

jc Sun, Nov 25, 2007 at 03:04 PM EST

tom cruise - top gun
leo di caprio - titanic
richard gere - too many to mention: american gigolo, pretty woman, etc.

Debbie Moore Sat, Nov 24, 2007 at 07:53 PM EST

Got to have Mark Wahlberg on there. I loved him in "Rockstar" & "Boogie Nights", not to mention the fact that he -literally-stole the show from EVERYONE in "the departed". I know at the age of 43, I'm out of the target audience range, but I find nothing attractive about Justin Timberlake or Usher. I do think Tim McGraw is totally hot. Josh Grobin & Chris Daughtry.
Thank you for Clive, Antonio, Johnny, Brad & Matt. But you missed the boat on their "hottie" moments. They really could take off their shirts (or just breathe).

Juliet Wed, Nov 21, 2007 at 07:20 PM EST

I must applaud EW.com for including the broodingly handsome Clive Owen, but I am appalled that you left off the broodingly handsome David Duchovny. This list includes '90s male hearthrobs, right? He may not have much of a career these days, but that sexy monotone still rocks my world.

Ariana Wed, Nov 21, 2007 at 05:37 AM EST

For the 50's - 60's James Dean, Tony Curtis & Jeff Chandler. Did I miss Steve McQueen on the list? Senta Berger, Bridgette Bardot & Jean Shrimpton were gorgeous. He may not be an actor but what an anchor, to say the least - Anderson Cooper - WOW!!!

P.K. BUTZ Tue, Nov 20, 2007 at 11:35 PM EST

Hey, I know he's new, but Jeffrey Donovan from 'Burn Notice' needs some exposure.

P.K. BUTZ Tue, Nov 20, 2007 at 11:35 PM EST

Hey, I know he's new, but Jeffrey Donovan from 'Burn Notice' needs some exposure.

Gary Tue, Nov 20, 2007 at 05:00 PM EST

No Emily Proctor? How could you forget Emily? She's truly exquisite. America's television gem.

Quentine Prasad Mon, Nov 19, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

How could you have left out Gerard Butler?! Have none of you seen 300? Phantom of the Opera? Dear Frankie? Dracula 2000? The man can act and sing, and he does it all while still looking fantastic! He's gotta be the Wild Card!

Devon Sun, Nov 18, 2007 at 01:49 AM EST

I have to say that most of the guys on your list are great. But, I'm thinking that David Boreanaz is missing. I mean his steamy photoshoot where he's in the bathtub (the magazine it was in escapes me) is amazing. Sarah Michelle Gellar made your TV Icons list..and although I do not believe he's a *memorable* tv icon..I do believe he goes unsung for his time playing Angel on BtVS and Angel. The whole Buffy/Angel relationship was played well by the two. Plus, MAJOR HOTTIE!!

Carol Binen Sat, Nov 17, 2007 at 08:10 AM EST

Can't believe you left off Ava Gardner...the scene in "The Barefoot Contessa" when she drops the towel, is one of the steamiest ever !

Amanda Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 09:42 PM EST

OH...thats digusting.....NO Daniel Craig or James Mcavoy...i would say this list is now not even ligit..

Amanda Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 09:35 PM EST

AHH!! its like a brit bashing!! hahaha jk but i expected keira knightley for sure....and kate winslet...oh and whats this ? Jude Law and Orlando Bloom? WTF...i dont even know some of those chicks...that was pretty random...

Megan Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 04:30 PM EST

suzy Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 02:04 PM EST

ok i should read directions. sorry Nichole...missed your Rick Springfield blurb. i agree.
Gerard Butler definite hottie moment was the Phantom walking down the hallway with Christine in tow and his smoldering eyes.
Paul Walker...has to be JoyRide. Just as he was going to kiss Vena and his brother interrupted. ;O)

suzy Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 01:55 PM EST

p.s tyone Power. have you looked
into those eyes? ggrrhhh. ;O)
i didn't notice Rick Springfield either. General Hospital had some pretty hot Dr's back in the day.

PAUL WALKER ?????? quit picking the flavor of the month and open your eyes!!!!!!

Marianne Thu, Nov 15, 2007 at 12:29 AM EST

Come on now!!! Leonardo DiCaprio- hottest male actor since the 90's!!!!!!!! Definitely standing on the steps in the scene from "Titanic". How gorgeous can you get!!!!!!!!

Nicole Wed, Nov 14, 2007 at 07:54 PM EST

On the 70s-80s list, you totally left off Rick Springfield - his turn as Noah Drake on "General Hospital" made doctors look sexy wayyyy before George Clooney hit "ER".

maman Wed, Nov 14, 2007 at 09:16 AM EST

You left out Jennifer Lopez in you 90s hottie....

Amanda Wed, Nov 14, 2007 at 12:42 AM EST

windstorm Wed, Nov 14, 2007 at 12:19 AM EST

you cant do the seventies and not have jayne kennedy! she was the ultimate beauty

John Frusciante

HMM Tue, Nov 13, 2007 at 11:34 PM EST

I'm sorry, but Jim Caviezel has to be my choice for hottest hottie--see "Count of Monte Cristo" or even as the bad guy in High Crimes. And how about "Frequency" opposite another sometime hottie/always cutie Dennis Quaid?

PR Tue, Nov 13, 2007 at 10:49 PM EST

How could this site claim to know anything about entertainment and the "Ultimate Female Hottie", 90's to now, and leave Alyssa Milano off the list? As one of the most sought, searched, and frankly fantasized female celebs there has ever been, you would have to been under a rock to have left her off the Top 25. Correct you obviously misguided and uniformed list and get Alyssa Milano on there at the top right away!

Renee Tue, Nov 13, 2007 at 10:40 PM EST

Please, John Cusak! One doesn't notice his sex appeal at first, but when he holds the radio over his head and plays "In your Eyes" in Say Anything, I don't know any girl who wouldn't marry him instantly. Plus in High Fidelity...

Renee Tue, Nov 13, 2007 at 10:40 PM EST

Jennifer Lopez! Duh! She topped all sexy lists for years. Ultimate hottie moment, not on the screen or the stage, on the red carpet wearing the green grammy dress that went down in history.

Rose Thu, Nov 1, 2007 at 11:31 PM EST

Jeniffer Love Hewitt should be in the 90's pole.

Beth Thu, Nov 1, 2007 at 04:18 PM EST

1) Goran Visnjic -hottest moment probably playing Spartacus in the remake, shirtless and fighting for a cause
2) David Boreanaz -with smiling moments of confidence as Booth on Bones or dark mystery as Angel
--as a note: both men show their kind side as dog lovers in PETA ads

Mel Thu, Nov 1, 2007 at 10:26 AM EST

My vote goes to Gerard Butler. I seem to be in good company here with the posters mentioning his name.

Mr. Butler was also smoldering in that crapfest that was 'Lara Croft: Cradle of Life' but his kissing scene with Angelina Jolie was steamy.

Ronald Tue, Oct 30, 2007 at 12:40 AM EST

Antonio Sabato Jr., Marcus Schenkenberg, Michael Bergin and Jon
Erik-Hexum. Where are they on the list?

celta Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 10:28 PM EST

Ellen Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 03:08 PM EST

How could you leave out Johnny Depp? He has been so totally hot since the 80's and now. And it's not just his looks, especially those cheekbones, eyes, and dark hair but it's also his awesome acting which is what drew me in first. I may have to cancel my subscription. :)

Margie Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 01:36 PM EST

You left quite a few off: Kurt Russell--Snake Blisken; Adrian Paul- Duncan McCloud; Tom Berenger - Platoon; Ryan Reynolds -- Hannibal King; Ryan Gosling- Noah. Obviously need a longer list!!!!

Margie Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 01:27 PM EST

How could you forget PATRICK SWAYZE in Dirty Dancing......

Amanda Lynn Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 09:22 AM EST

MARK WAHLBERG - not only in his calvin klein ads, but in we own the night, the departed, shooter, four brothers, italian job, perfect storm & three kings (both with other "hotties" on the list), boogie nights, and fear....

virtuale Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 08:03 AM EST

Jensen ACKLES, so sexy and funny in Dark Angel, and so Hot in supernatural, he really deserves to be in this list, really !!!!!!!!!!

Heather McGinley Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 04:57 AM EST

sincerely,"angst & ivory."©2005 rio rox

Ed Minchau Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 07:31 PM EST

For the 90's to today hot women list, there are two obvious omissions: Laura Prepon (the only reason I watched That 70's Show) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (ditto for Party of Five).

Jen Choi Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 07:25 PM EST

INGRID BERGMAN? HELLO?!?!?!??!?

Lisa Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 04:22 PM EST

Eddie Vedder. I don't know how you could leave him off this list. Not only was he hot in the 90s, he's still hot. Hottest moment #1, the final moments singing "Porch" on MTV's Unplugged. Hottest moment #2 Singing "Come Back" in San Francisco, 2006.

Leslie Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 03:42 PM EST

Hugh Laurie!! His character may be a pain in the @$$, but he has his moments...like that kiss with Dr. Cameron late late season! Whoo-ee!

Little Hawk Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 02:54 PM EST

sunshine Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 12:19 PM EST

Hey! Where ANN-MARGRET? She seems to be the most under rated star. She has done it all, talent, beauty along with great sex-appeal. Wake-up, who voted?

Bonnie Sat, Oct 27, 2007 at 09:09 AM EST

Where was Elvis? 'Nuff said.

Mari Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 09:17 PM EST

You forgot David Boreanaz. Super hot in his portrayal of Angelus in bothe BtVS and Angel. Also salty goodness as Special Agent Seely Booth in Bones

Jen Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 06:59 PM EST

I agree with pretty much everyone on the list so far, but I really think that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Rachel Weisz should be added for the females and Jared Leto and David Boreanaz should be added for the males...all gorgeous and talented!

Kevin Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 05:47 PM EST

Sarah Michelle Gellar, she is the first main character we see in "I Know What You Did Last Summer," it wasn't just the birth of a sex symbol, it was the birth of a star!

Tim Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 05:27 PM EST

then in 60s Raquel Welch is no. 1 yes but Lana Turner is LAST. Who is voting for this?

Tim Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 05:21 PM EST

OOO MYYY GOD...!!
Madonna? I don't know one single guy that thought Madonna was sexy. Tops on this list 70-80 is Cheryl Ladd, Kathleen Turner, Heather Locklear and Jackie Bisset.

Elena Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 04:57 PM EST

James Marsters

David Boreanaz

Nicholas Brendon

jackie Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 03:11 PM EST

oh... and one more vote for Nicolas Cage. He was smokin' on the cover of Vanity Fair, and delicious as the hot-headed baker in "Moonstruck."

Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 03:00 PM EST

BIG Oops! You guys cannot leave Nicolas Cage off the list. I still get chills thinking about his. who could forget his ultra-sexy swagger in those priestly robes in "Face Off!"

Sara Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 07:44 AM EST

ORLANDO BLOOM PEOPLE! IMO, George Clooney is SO overrated, always has been. Jeremy Piven is a hottie in an unconventional way also.

ares Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 04:04 AM EST

What? No David Boreanaz? The man *is* sex on legs. The ultimate hottie.

olivia Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 03:35 AM EST

EW!?! What gives? Where is Richard Chamberlain--the PRIMO hottie of the '80s, not to mention the king of the miniseries. Richard was the original Jason Bourne, and besides that, I only have three words for you: The Thorn Birds

Secondly, I was shocked not to see Troy Donahue on your list of hotties from the '50s and '60s. A Summer Place, Parrish...any of this ringing a bell? No matter, just watch them (on mute if you have to, I'm not sayin the guy was the best actor...)and you'll be wiping the drool of your faces :-)

bo Fri, Oct 26, 2007 at 02:21 AM EST

where is Rhona mitra? i know she isn't an "a list" celeb, but i'm gay and i still find her incredibly hot form her fiery looks and icy demeanour

Chloe_Sarai Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM EST

David Boreanaz & James Marsters

Chloe_Sarai Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM EST

David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Mario Barrett

Kelly Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 10:03 PM EST

Oooops, I meant omissions. Sorry!

Kelly Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 09:24 PM EST

I think you need to come up with another list for the ultimate hotties, or at least make it longer. There are too many obvious obmissions to count, in both categories!

Ducks Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 09:17 PM EST

No David Boreanaz? Yikes!

Shirley Ujest Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 07:53 PM EST

How could you have omitted David Boreanaz from your list? His portrayal of Special Agent Seeley Booth is dead sexy! Plus he's grown so much as an actor since his breakout role of 'Angel' on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and then "ANGEL".

Tara Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 07:52 PM EST

No list of hotties is complete without David Boreanaz. He was sexy as a broody Angel. He was sizzlin hot as an evil Angelus. And he is totally edible as the loveable Seely Booth.

Mary Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 06:56 PM EST

No David Boreanaz? I'm shocked!

Crystal Jewel Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 05:16 PM EST

How, oh how could you skip Gerard Butler? That man is an incredible actor and so dedicated to his craft....plus did you see that love scene in 300? I gotta go take a cold shower just thinking about it...

resa53 Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 04:59 PM EST

How could you not put David Boreanaz on your list? It's impossible to list an untimate hottie moment ... he was hot as Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, and he's even hotter now as Seely Booth on Bones.

Christie Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 04:41 PM EST

Sure, sure- all those guys on your list are handsome...but how about the guy who will be handsome for all eternity: Angel as played by the equally gorgeous actor David Boreanaz. Pick any single moment he was on screen on either Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel the series. To steal Cordelia's phrase: "Mmm. Salty goodness."

Robert M Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 03:02 PM EST

What happened to Christina Aguilera she should have been on the list.

ramon Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 02:32 PM EST

what happened to Janet Jackson?

Lee Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 01:48 PM EST

For the ladies: Paula Patton - when she was in Idlewild...or better yet Robin Thicke's video for Lost without you (oh my dear god was she beautiful in the video).

For the men: Ben Foster! He is perfectly awkward. I love him in Six Feet Under as Russell

Lauren Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 12:40 PM EST

Two words: Jeremy Piven.

Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 10:38 AM EST

How about Terrence Howard, Tyson Beckford, Denzel Washington, Maxwell,
Taye Diggs, Will Smith,
For Ladies, Halle Berry, Thandie Newton,Angela Basset,Jada Pinket Smith Just to name a few beautiful & Talented African Americans

TC Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 10:01 AM EST

Yvonne Craig--Batgirl from the Batman TV show in the 60's. Dolly Parton--what a figure!!!

Nan Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 07:18 AM EST

How can anyone forget the ever so sexy chocolate Blair Underwood during the love scene with Jada Pinkett in "Set It Off". That brother is FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ITA Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 07:03 AM EST

Gotta agree, leaving off Orlando Bloom was just careless.

Kelley Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 07:01 AM EST

Who made this list?!? How could you leave off Orlando Bloom??? The man OOZES sex appeal. Add Keira Knightly to the women too- the scene between them in POTC3 was SO HOT. ORLANDO BLOOM!!
Also:
Elvis Presley
Ryan Gosling
Peter Krause
Michael C Hall
Rachel Griffiths

Moppy Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 06:42 AM EST

I don't suppose you guys have ever heard of Gerard Butler. He was in this little movie called "300". The sexiest thing about him? EVERYTHING!

Beverly Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 10:37 PM EST

I didn't see anyone else mention Nicholas Cage &/or Meg Ryan for City of Angels. Also Meg Ryan (with Russell Crowe) for Proof of Life. And Nicholas Cage again for the bunny rabbit rescue in Con Air. I agree with all the others about the omission of Elvis Presley, Orlando Bloom, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Michelle Pfieffer.

Your action heroes/heriones are missing Milla Jovovich, Linda Carter, Halle Berry & Michelle Pfieffer. How could you?

For male hotties of the 90's, I'd replace the wimps on your list with Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki for the scene where Jared has to kill his werewolf girlfriend and Jensen waits while he does it. Michael Shanks fr the scene where he almost gets killed by his gaoul possessed wife and Joe Flanigan anytime he has to save someone's bacon on SG Atlantis.

Someone at EW must be from a galaxy not mentioned on any sci-fi show in the last 40 years.

Bernadette Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 05:45 PM EST

GERARD BUTLER!! Who did not see 300? How can you forget a muscled Gerard as King Leonidas? He also was soooo dreamy as The Phantom of the Opera.

Kara Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 05:11 PM EST

And for the women-Vivian Leigh! How on earth could she not have made the first list??? Have you people not ever watched "Gone With The Wind"! She is cinematic perfection!

Kara Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 05:05 PM EST

Gerard Butler-I honestly had never heard of him until I watched "The Phantom of the Opera" and I was blown away by his performance. So I promptly looked up his bio and rented his other movies and I slowly counted the days until 300 was released!! His abs, his eyes, his lilting Scottish accent-whew!

Becky Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 04:58 PM EST

Gerard Butler, baby. Hottest moment, the first second he appears in Dracula 2000. He's probably hotter than hot in 300, but I haven't seen it yet.

Debbie Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 04:28 PM EST

Peter O'Toole, those gorgeous blue eyes and chiseled features in Lawrence of Arabia ... he was sooooo sexy

Meg Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 04:26 PM EST

I can't believe all time sexiest River Phoenix (deceased is not on your list) and what about his super hot brother Joaquin Phoenix. What are yall thinking.

Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 04:17 PM EST

humphrey bogart! you have to admit he's hot in Casablanca

keith Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 03:54 PM EST

dana delany in china beach

Anna Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 03:38 PM EST

Without a doubt, you omitted Viggo Mortensen, the sexiest and most talented actor of his time.
Also Olivier Martinez and Josh Brolin, h.o.t!
For women: Keira Knightley, and ageless Diane Lane

Tiffney Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 03:37 PM EST

William Snow
James Stewert
Tobey Maguire

Rich Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 03:34 PM EST

Mary Craven-Davis Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 11:40 AM EST

How could you forget the one and only Dennis Haysbert! He represent the elements of the earth! He deserved to be reconized simply for his charisma, visable features and last, but not least... his works! I'm his number one fan! You go boy!!!

gebscot Tue, Oct 23, 2007 at 07:35 AM EST

Gerard Butler is THE best of anyone! How about Sean Bean and Benicio Deltoro??

Britt Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 09:45 AM EST

Two that should have never been left out: Christian Slater was the ultimate 80's bad boy in Heathers. Crazy never looked so good. And for the 90s, Leonardo DiCaprio was delicious in Titanic. Um, hello? Did you not see it?!? One small example, in the backseat of the car below deck with Winslet's Rose. A hand against the steamy window said it all.

saida Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 06:01 AM EST

Where is SHAKIRA???????and J.LO, how in the world can you make a sex symbol list without this two.

SHAKIRA needs to be on the list, she is sooooooooo hot and beautiful.

Don Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 01:45 AM EST

Carole Landis. She was the original one million b.c babe. She was a ping, sweater, and my favorite pin-up girl of the 40's.Plus her commitment to our troups in world war two is unmatched. She could sing, act, and that body!

What about Richard Chamberlain as Father Ralph in "The Thorn Birds" - especially when he finally kisses Meggie (Rachal Ward) on the beach? He is HOT!

joanne Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 06:16 PM EST

I just read the comment about Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney, I can go one better - how about Tyrone Power and Loretta Young?

now that's gorgeous.

jessie Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 05:57 PM EST

good choices, with a couple of exceptions.

BUT - you left out Tyrone Power

joyce Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 05:10 PM EST

Leonardo!

Beth Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 03:16 PM EST

Well, you've now given us the "readers choice" pics, and I have to say I am really disappointed that Alan Rickman didn't make the cut, especially considering the near-apoplectic cries for him that I have seen on this blog. I had never thought of him as sexy before, but I am starting to change my mind; I was hoping you would too. On a completely different note, I just realized that David Cassidy didn't make the cut, either. That seems...weird. Wasn't he, like, the hottest hottie that ever hottied?

liz86000 Sat, Oct 20, 2007 at 05:49 AM EST

Duh! COLIN FIRTH in Pride & Prejudice!! I mean, the wet white shirt scene, people!! That was hotness on legs!!

Lizzy Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 08:39 PM EST

Oh I know, wasn't Gerard Butler just the HOTTEST PHANTOM EVER! When he's leading Christine down the tunnels to his lair the first time, with those smoldering glances of his, and let's not forget the entire Point of No Return scene. Turns my knees to jell-o! Why couldn't that have been me? Why, Christine? WHY?

A Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 08:37 PM EST

I'm a gal and I totally think Scarlett Johanssen is hot. Plus I'm SOOOOO jealous of her... she got to kiss some of my favorite HOT men-- Hugh Jackman, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Ewan McGregor. I so want to be her!

YOU MUST ADD GREGORY PECK TO YOUR MALE HOTTIES OF ALL TIME. ATTICUS FINCH IN TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ANYONE? ADD TO THAT COUNTLESS ROLES AS A SMART, MORAL MALE LEAD. AND STUNNING TO LOOK AT!

Nadia Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 10:39 AM EST

I CANNOT believe Orlando Bloom wasn't on the list. There are others...but he's the one who is definitely missing. Take out the Mariah Carey video guy and put in Orlando!!!!!!

Joel Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 09:54 PM EST

Only a brain aneurysm could explain Olivia Newton-John not being on the list. Oy.

Steph Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 08:14 PM EST

Gale Harold...tsk, tsk, how could you ET?

shay Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 07:37 PM EST

Orlando Bloom once again but what about the Rock??? Ryan Reynolds, Paul Walker?!?!?!? Orlando Bloom! Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder from Heroes), Matthew Fox, and Chris Evans.

Shay Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 07:00 PM EST

Orlando Bloom
Pick any from Will Turner to Legolas! He's not just hot, he is molten.

Anne Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 03:57 PM EST

How in the world is Angie Harmon not listed on any of these polls?!?!

Chandra Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 01:31 PM EST

Anna Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 09:23 AM EST

ORLANDO BLOOM!

adrienne louise Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 08:19 AM EST

Can you do a list of memorable African American stars of 70/80/90 male and female?

Steven B. Todd Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 06:35 AM EST

I cannot believe you left Rosemary Forsyth off the list. One of the hottest scenes ever filmed is when Chrysagon (Charlton Heston)on horseback and in his lordly attire has Bronwyn (Forsyth) backed into the water sans peasant garb, making her the object of his scorching appraisal.

sparklingblue Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 06:01 AM EST

The vintage leading men list is desperately missing a handsome, sweet, adorable, charming fellow called Jimmy Stewart! Someone mentioned the phone scene from "It's a Wonderful Life" before, with which I wholeheartedly agree. But also consider Alfred revealing his identity to Klara in "The Shop Around the Corner". Or the famous speech he gave to Katherine Hepburn in "The Philadelphia Story". Or the great chemistry he had with Marlene Dietrich in "Destry Rides Again". Or that kiss in "Rear Window" with Grace Kelly. Many great moments, many reasons to include Jimmy Stewart.

jediyoda Thu, Oct 18, 2007 at 03:37 AM EST

You Forgot my two favorites!! Joaquin Phoenix and Michelle Pfieffer...two under acknowledged actors...great talents...great faces...

clare Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 08:20 PM EST

I know you had to squash about 5 decades in the 60s and earlier category but, c'mon Edie Sedgwick? What about these dark haired beauties -Ava Gardner,
Gene Tierney, Vivien Leigh? And the beautiful blonde Veronica Lake? You did well on the blokes though. Paul Newman gets my vote as number one male hottie of all time.

Vianne Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 07:46 PM EST

John Goodman

Galadriel Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 06:36 PM EST

I'm so glad that Gerard Butler is finally getting the love he so richly deserves. I've been in love with this guy for two years now, ever since I saw his smoldering performance as the Phantom of the Opera. DANG, that's hot stuff! Thanks, ladies! And may I also throw my enthusiastic vote in for Orlando Bloom. Hottest. Elf. EVER!

n Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 04:27 PM EST

Gerard Butler! C'mon, he's definitely an ultimate hottie to compete with hotties from other eras!

Beth Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 03:04 PM EST

GERARD BUTLER. Hands down, sexiest man alive in this or any other decade. Hottie moment? Every frame he's in, but since I need to choose one, how about saving Lady Claire in Timeline?

Maeg Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 02:21 PM EST

Gerard Butler and Daniel Craig! Yes please!

Chelsea Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 01:52 PM EST

Ryan Gosling. He isn't just hot for his looks (although that is certainly a part of it), but he just seems like a really nice, INTELLIGENT guy. He's on the most recent cover of GQ, and the interview just shows that this guy is a real actor. He doesn't want attention, but he accepts that that is the life he has has chosen..not to mention how admirable it is that he has chosen so many contrasting roles for himself. From loyal lover, drug addicted school teacher, neo-nazi, lawyer..etc..this guy is an actor, and one of the best of our time if you ask me.

His UTM moment of course is from The Notebook (come on, how could it not?)
That kiss in the rain was mindblowingly sexy. "It STILL isn't over!" Ryan, trust me, it will never be over for me either!

DAWN Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 11:40 AM EST

OOPS ALMOST FORGOT
GERALD BUTLER- YUMMY!

DAWN Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 11:39 AM EST

JOSH HARTNETT
RYAN REYNOLDS
RYAN GOSLING
JULIAN MCMAHON- NIP/TUCK!
JACK NICHOLSON

Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 10:50 AM EST

Seriously? Katherine Heigl? She's only on there because she's a current "it" girl. Give me a break!

Jack Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 08:49 AM EST

Diana Rigg

TV Guide had the good sense to put her in the top of its own 'hottie-esque' category of the 1960s more than once.

Mind still boggled you folks missed that one.

Jess Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 07:06 AM EST

Edward Norton in The Illusionist has my vote. Dreamy! I could listen to his voice for all of eternity...

Jess Wed, Oct 17, 2007 at 07:03 AM EST

Tim Daly in Private Practice. Yum!
Gerard Butler, hottest Phantom of the Opera EVER!
I also cannot believe Orlando Bloom isn't on that list. You people have no taste.

Um, ELVIS?!? '68 Comeback Special, anyone??

Bruce Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 03:45 PM EST

I love anything with Jeff Stryker in it. He's the hottest of any decade.

Dawn Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 03:26 PM EST

Kenneth Branagh in Much Ado About Nothing; Fortunes of War, etc. etc.
Van Morrison in Miracle in the Rain.
Gerard Butler in 300 and Dear Frankie.

OMG ... Leif Garrett !!! Nobody, but NOBODY ... before, during, or since Leif's heyday was more gorgeous than him.

Billy Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 01:17 PM EST

Hey guys i can't believe you left out the beautiful Olivia Newton-John, she was one of the HOTTEST females around in the Seventies and the Eighties, just watch the final scene of Grease with ONJ in her skin tight pants, or physical , need i say more

Nicole Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 10:04 AM EST

Um, hello? Olivia Newton John? Where is she on this list? She was a major sensation in the 70s and 80s (anyone here NOT seen Grease? or even her Physical song?)? And how many artists can you name who still look as good and sound as good as she does after over four decades in the entertainment buisness? Her Grace and Gratitude CD tells you everything...and her latest, Christmas Wish, only supports that!

Jaki Jones Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 08:40 AM EST

OMG - No Elvis? Really!

Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 05:34 AM EST

Dave Grohl!

ALAN RICKMAN PLEASE!!!!

jaztek Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 03:01 AM EST

omg. ALAN RICKMAN... he is amazing.. in every film, were u guys crazy when u did the list coz he is gorgous.. i actually am inlove with the guy... i love him !

Edouardo Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 10:37 PM EST

Gorgeous and Sexy OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN not being on the list is a huge oversight!! Duh??? Look at her! Listen to her! Look at her some more...

B Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 10:20 PM EST

I can't believe that Olivia Newton-John(aka Lovely Livvy)was omitted ...hello, one of the hottest celebs of the 70's & 80's. From the cover of Totally Hot in black leather (not to mention Grease) to the cover of Physical. Need I say more.

Mary Alice Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 09:52 PM EST

Kim Novack in Picnic,Pal Joey
Doris Day in all her movies
Ava Gardner in Barefoot Contessa

Nik Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 08:52 PM EST

Add Alan Rickman and Alfred Molina.
Simple as that!

T Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 05:48 PM EST

Seriously, where IS Elvis?

He's got to be one of the most beautiful and influential (still today) male hotties out there!

Mick Jagger is on it and Elvis isn't, COME ON!

Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 05:05 PM EST

How could you NOT have the NEUTRON BOMB. Like, hello? Biggest female recording artist in the world for over a decade anyone?

I guess the Britney/Anna Nicole generation isn't too clued into the past. Perhaps they should be voting for the hottest celebs of the 90s and 00s. I was born in 69' so the 70s and 80s was my backdrop. Olivia is very much a part of popular culture of that period - to not include her doesn't give much credibility to the findings.

Tim Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 04:27 PM EST

Olivia Neutron-Bomb!

Leslie Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 04:10 PM EST

Daniel Day-Lewis. Pretty much any part of "Last of the Mohicans," but especially when he says to Cora (Madeline Stowe), in response to her question of what he's looking at, "I'm looking at you, Miss." Sigh.

Leslie Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 02:15 PM EST

I would also like to add Olivia Newton-John, Lynda Carter, Sean Connery or Roger Moore, Bond, James Bond.

Jim Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 01:43 PM EST

You never hear a discussion about the hot ladies of the 80's without every guy saying he had a crush on the totally hot Olivia Newton-John! Myself included! Grease, Xanadu, Physical! Come on!

Chelsea Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 01:41 PM EST

Erica, I totally agree with you! No doubt about it, John Travolta was beyond hot in GREASE, but he was so much hotter in Saturday Night Fever. (ATTICUS! ATTICUS!) Or how about him in Urban Cowboy with that sexy beard? <3

Erica Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 01:31 PM EST

My quibble is not with the choice of John Travolta, but with his ultimate hottie moment being from Grease??? Ever heard of the movie Saturday Night Fever?

Penny Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 12:01 PM EST

How could you exclude the most fabulous Robert Conrad, playing Jim West in The Wild Wild West in the 60s? He was oh so handsome, suave, cool and witty. Strike a match, he was hot and don't be Loveless!

michelle Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 11:52 AM EST

Where's ELVIS?????

Carrie Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 11:34 AM EST

WH-WH-WHAT???!!! Ok, I was blown away that Lynda Carter wasn't included on there, BUT, NO Olivia Newton-John either???!!! Have you never seen the movie Grease? final scene of her in those skin tight satin pants? Every man's dream to be with her, and every girls dream to be her!!

kats Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 11:08 AM EST

To Alex: I don't think they were including models (although wasn't Cheryl Tiegs on there?)because they're just supposed to be gorgeous and if they did they could take over a good deal of the list. Not just Christie Brinkley but:
Claudia Schiffer
Paulina Porizkova
Vendela

and I'm sure you'd get some good arguments for:
Elle McPherson
Cindy Crawford
Kathy Ireland....

Kevin Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 09:59 AM EST

To leave Ursula Andress off the list is just CRAZY! Have you seen Dr. No? Have you SEEN her coming out of the water with a knife tucked in her bikini?

Also, where's Anita Ekberg? The scene of her frolicking in the fountain in La Dolce Vita is a high water mark of sexuality in film.

I also think the beautiful Louise Brooks should be on the list. She rocks bangs like no one's business.

cj Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 09:41 AM EST

For crying out loud---who makes your lists? I have shook my head in amazement at many of the lists over the past few months......why do ya'll insist on not acknowledging GERARD BUTLER.....one of the hottest men to walk the face of the planet.....I agree with other posters.....no Scarlett Johanssen, no Pierce Brosnan, no Elvis, no Matthew Fox-Evangeline Lily-(actually the whole LOST ensemble).....my friends and I can make better lists (and we do)....

Mark M. Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 09:09 AM EST

On the 60s or earlier list, you seem to be missing only the most beautiful and sexiest woman who EVER lived - Ingrid Bergman. Any such list needs to start with Ingrid Bergman and Audrey Hepburn and go from there. Bergman's daughter, Isabella Rossellini obviously belongs on the later day list. I also think Olivia de Havilland deserves a mention.

Maggie Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 08:37 AM EST

Alan Rickman for sure should be on the list for the 80's, 90's or present day. Still lighting up our screen and making us women swoon.

littlered Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 08:31 AM EST

got to agree with the marky mark fans...damn, that man is sexy, get him on his very own list!

stacydarc Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 07:32 AM EST

No Elvis in the pre seventies? Wow huge oversite. No Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum, Tyrone Power either?

AnnaMaC Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 06:53 AM EST

No John Cusack? C'mon...
Eighties - Say Anything
Nineties - Grifters, Grosse Pointe Blank
Naughties - High Fidelity, War Inc.
Three decades of gorgeousness.

Susan Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 05:10 AM EST

John Cusack! Say Anything?! Better Off Dead?! The Sure Thing?! ANYONE!!?

theres no I in team Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 03:39 AM EST

Alan Rickman really needs to be on this list!!! Jason Isaacs too!

Mary Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 02:11 AM EST

Alan Rickman needs to be on this list! Hm... so many hot moments to choose from... he was simply amazing (and sexy in a dark way) in "Closet Land," especially the last scene.

Phillip, NC Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 01:07 AM EST

No Meg Ryan?
I'm really surprised Ali McGraw was left off the '70s list. She was great looking. But, seriously, no Meg Ryan?

Randy Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 12:48 AM EST

I can't believe you left out Mark Hamill!!!

Chelsea Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 12:16 AM EST

Yeah, I second the John Cusack! Nobody does the lovable geek like him! His UHM will always be standing outside that window with the boombox over his head blaring "In Your Eyes". So. Romantic.

Also..I know he's only been in one movie..and it's more of an infatuation with a fictional character then the actor himself..but who could forget Jake Ryan from "Sixteen Candles"?!

Oh now I'm on a roll with these 80s guys..I'm too tired to list them all, but how about the collective group of guys from "The Brat Pack"? St. Elmo's Fire, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty in Pink defined a generation. "His NAME is BLANE?! That's not a name, that's the name of a major appliance!" Oh Duckie<3

Barbara Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 12:07 AM EST

I agree with Alan Rickman and his appearance in Sense and Sensibility. I think he is one of the finest actors out there in expressing emotion without saying a word. To leave out Ava Gardner is a total travesty. Even Elizabeth Taylor said she was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. If you doubt it, pick up a book about her with a picture of her at age 13! She is more beautiful in that picture at that age than most of the women on this list.

Hjane Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 11:23 PM EST

Leaving out Matt Damon is absurd!

Squirrelly Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 10:51 PM EST

Ingrid Bergman! She's one of the most beautiful women ever to walk the earth. Watching Cary Grant fall head over heels for her in "Notorious" is very believable and just delicious to watch.

Karen Gallagher Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 09:43 PM EST

David McCallum, whose popularity in the 1960's as Illya Kuryakin caused near riots when he made puplic appearances.

n Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 09:39 PM EST

80s John Cusack. Unless I somehow didn't see him. C'mon, I couldn't have been the only girl in love with Lane.

how could you forget Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 09:18 PM EST

Orlando Bloom

Brad in Ohio Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 08:47 PM EST

I want to second all of those who mentioned Loni Anderson!!!

Karen Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 07:25 PM EST

I haven't noticed anyone missing the two hottest stars from the hottest cop show of the 70's, Starsky and Hutch: Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul. Paul STILL has the sexiest smile in showbiz!

anon again Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 07:16 PM EST

Whoops, that should have said top missing PEOPLE, not missing women!

Although I think my husband would disagree with me on the Leo Part.

anon Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 07:11 PM EST

Top missing women:
Ingrid Bergman
Ava Gardner
Bettie Page
ScarJo

Leo DiCaprio
Elvis
Daniel Craig
young William Shatner

Veronica Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 07:09 PM EST

i just scanned the comments and i can't believe how many alan rickman fans there are! i would just like to say i too enjoy mr.rickman's work and think his defining moment as an on-screen hottie would have to be in sense and sensibility when he first sees kate winslet's character...so sweet! also think edward norton should be apart of this list. so hot in the illusionist.

Alex Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 07:01 PM EST

I have two words for you: Christie Brinkley.
How could you miss the supermodel of the early 80s?

Angie S. Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 06:54 PM EST

Ralph Fiennes and Naveen Andrews in The English Patient.

Cillian Murphy in ANYTHING!

And I didn't see Vanessa Redgrave, who was a total babe in the 60s!

Also, this list is very American-centric. Where is Ashwarya Rai? Where is Gong Li?

alaina Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 06:32 PM EST

You remembered Edie Sedwick and NO ONE would've heard of her if wasn't for that stupid movie by that paparazzi whore Sienna Miller. You include relics like Harlow but forget Ava Gardner (Showboat), Ann Margaret (Tommy, Bye Bye Birdie) and Vivien Leigh in (GWTW, Streetcar Named Desire). What gives?

kris Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 06:31 PM EST

Two words only - Veronica Lake

elissa (again) Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 06:17 PM EST

Oh, and if we're doing sports figures... Grady Sizemore - Cleveland Indian's center fielder.

He is the definition of sexy.

elissa Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 06:16 PM EST

Vivien Leigh - In Gone With the Wind, she is the epitome of Civil War era sexiness and determination. Plus, I doubt there are many women who've got her bone structure and figure.

Matt Damon - Check out any of the Bourne films where he's not wearing a shirt... or in The Departed where he's a completely conflicted man but still really effing hot.

Ryan Gosling - The Notebook scene on the dock where he tells Ally "it still isn't over". It's the scene we all saw coming but all wanted to see anyway.

Elvis - duh.

Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd - the cutest traveling couple to come from Middle Earth ever.

Leonardo DiCaprio - For his current work in The Departed, the scene where he sleeps with Matt Damon's girlfriend.

Russ Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 05:42 PM EST

Robert Mitchum! This sounds effed up, but he is so hot in Cape Fear that he makes rape seem sexy. Yeah, I said it was effed up, but a big part of the appeal of Mitchum was always how he mixed menace with charm. Plus he was a super-cool guy who rode the rails o America and was an early marijuana advocate.

Dvorah Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 04:21 PM EST

Alan Rickman, he is sexy and hot in every decade he's been in.... Even with 61 years to him... He gets better and better.... WOW..... He's even got the much younger ladies naming him as a sexy beast.... let's face it he's adorable, dangerous, and such a cool man.... Let's hear it for Snape, Sheriff, Hans, Mesmer, Col. Brandon, etc.... He's Simply Irresistible....

rlynch Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 03:20 PM EST

David McCallum should definitely have made the list for the 60s, especially as Illya Kuryakin. Blond, blue eyes, tight black turtlenecks...sigh.

tony Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 02:50 PM EST

who made up this these lists, including Thandie Newton instead of Michelle Pfieffer. I agree with most of the comments, excluding Ava Gardner and Ann Margaret and the adorable Gene Tierney and Doris Day.

tony Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 02:27 PM EST

in the music business, di somebody forgot Alicia Keys, Jewel and Kylie Minogue. In the movies, how about Megan Fox, Evan Rachel Wood and Kate Winslet.

Darcie Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 02:20 PM EST

I meant to convey that I think Hamlin and Estrada are sorta gross, and these men are WAY hotter.

Darcie Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 02:19 PM EST

EEK! I didn't realize I would spark such an Alan Rickman phenomenon. I'm not part of any fansite, just an avid EW.com reader and an admirer of the British hotties. Any list with Harry Hamlin and Erik Estrada deserves to include the great hot Brits. Colin Firth, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet, etc. Didn't mean to start some weird frenzy...

Scott Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 01:54 PM EST

Veronica Lake & Joel McCrae in SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS. Ann-Margret and Jacqueline Bisset in ANYTHING! Gene Tierney & Tyrone Power (in sarongs) in SON OF FURY. Alice Faye (even Hef says she was his ideal women). Peter Lawford (the Brits have always out-classed the Americans). Anyone after 1970--forget 'em!

Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 01:28 PM EST

josh hartnett - hasn't anyone seen lucky number slevin?

Shaun Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 12:52 PM EST

Much like most of the people whos comments i have read, i CANNOT believe that Kate Winslet is not on that list, she is an incredible actress and a credit to her generation...not to mention extremely sexy, perhaps she should be seen leaving bars wearing no underwear to get the recognition she deserves!!!?

teebee Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 12:36 PM EST

I can't take any of these list seriously, for the simple reason of omitting Robert Redford from the Ultimate Male Hotties from the 60s and earlier! PULEEZE

Sarah Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 12:04 PM EST
