Andy Richter turned 41 yesterday, and since PopWatch is closed on Sundays, he didn't get the respect that he's entitled to. But that's nothing new for the veteran of two wonderful, short-lived sitcoms, Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Andy Barker. P.I. I've embedded clips from both shows as gifts to you, but for Richter, I offer this haiku.

brilliant but cancelled
sitcom format almost dead
won't you try again?

I loved Andy Barker PI! It was loaded with so many little throwaways, we watched it closely and with great enjoyment. I hope a network finds a place for Andy Richter's brand of comedy someday soon.

I still remember him on Conan when he would do the Matt Lauer spoof "Where in the building in Andy Richter?" They didn't have enough $ to send Andy anywhere in the world, so Andy had to hide somewhere in the building. Pretty funny.
