Help create Lauren Graham's new show

Sep 19, 2007, 10:50 AM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Deals, Television

Lauren_l Congratulations to Lauren Graham for landing a fat seven-figure development deal at NBC. And congrats, too, to the network for providing a new home to the under-appreciated Gilmore Girls star, who said of her acceptance into the Peacock fold, "Having spent so many years representing the frog on The WB, I am especially comforted to be part of the only other network with an animal mascot."

But now that they have Graham, what will NBC do with her? The hit-starved network needs to come up with something for her to do, other than play a new mutant on Heroes who stops bad guys with her disarming wit and encyclopedic store of pop-cultural references. They need ideas for new comedy or drama shows to showcase Graham, ideas like the ones you're about to submit below.

Honestly if we remove the obvious desire for a Gilmore revival/spin-off, then I do believe that a friends-esque show with a great ensemble cast.

Mary Ann Sanko Wed, Apr 9, 2008 at 08:36 AM EST

Thik NBC should by the rights to Sue Graffton's novels for Graham she would be the perfect Kelsey, and the story's would have sense instead of the constand Stupid, Childish garbage NBC has reverted to, give the grown-ups something to watch, think about it a wise-cracking PI with the brains to keep us tuned in, also just and idea But ask Jerry Stiller to be the old man she rents from, I SMELL A HIT, something NBC has not seen in a while,

Sarah Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 04:44 PM EST

I love Lauren she needs to be on another show. I love her in Gilmore Girls it is my favorite show ever.

Lauren Sat, Mar 22, 2008 at 02:06 PM EST

Lauren Graham is my idol and Gilmore Girls has helped me through good and bad times. I think whatever her next show is she should definitely be the star. She should also keep the witty banter and the self-confidence that she has as Lorelai. I wouldn't mind seeing her as the mother of a younger child but personally I like her single.

Jami Jaudon Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 12:04 AM EST

I think Lauren Grahm rocks too, she started out as a Barnie a little theater in Michigan, so she is great!!! Lauren when will you be coming back to the Barn?? Anyway I think I can see her on ER or anything like that and even though Desperate houswives isn't on NBC I thik she would be great on that show. However I would love someone to pick up GG again I love that show and want to see more!

hayley Sun, Mar 9, 2008 at 12:07 PM EST

i luv her she should do everything or anything she wants

There should be a sequel to Gilmore Girls!

cw Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 03:40 PM EST

Reading over the different ideas for a new show is so diverse!! But they all have one thing in common and that is a great love for Lauren Graham. My daughter and I are fans to the end of GG, owning all seven seasons on DVD, I agree she needs to be the star of the show, something new, fresh, and no gay people please!! Something for the whole family.

katelyn Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 05:42 PM EST

I'm a huge gilmore girls fan and I have always looked up to lauren she is a great actress and I think her new show should be a girls show where she is a main character and has three best friends that are incountering career choices and relationship problems and it wouldn't be the same without lauren grahams wit and snappy personality...kind of like gilmore girls meets sex in the city meets golden girls

Peridot Sat, Jan 26, 2008 at 12:18 AM EST

Lauren is one of my favorite comedic actresses! I watched every episode of GG several times and am still spellbound by her impeccable timing and intellectual humor. Her parts in the movies that I have seen her in do not do her justice. Whether or not she ad libs in her GG role she comes across as a natural and believable. Something that allows her intellectual comedy and an element of creative freedom to develop her character instinctively is a must! Whatever role develops the writing must do her justice-no part rises above the writing as we have seen in the past with some of our favorites who got canned after only a few episodes...such as Jean Smart and others. I can only imagine Lauren teamed with Robin Williams...that may not work, but I do looked forward to seeing her work with Matthew Perry in their new indy film.

Emily Tue, Jan 22, 2008 at 04:45 AM EST

How about a Bionic Woman/Crossing Jordan/Gilmore Girls mix.
With all the action packed stunts and moves of Bionic Woman, the cases, complexity and mystery/drama of Crossing Jordan, and the Wit, class, and excellent verbal choreography of Gilmore Girls.

bradlee Fri, Jan 11, 2008 at 03:04 PM EST

What about a 30 year old who decided to ditch her dead end job and do to college? Or maybe they could do something like that Kate Hudson movie where she is a successful fashion designer who had to take care of her brother's children after he dies in a car accident. She is an amazing actress for both comedy and drama, she needs something to show it off.

Lindy Wed, Jan 9, 2008 at 11:32 PM EST

I really love Gilmore Girls and have every season. I'd love to see that show starting again. I'm a teen and just watching that show makes my mom and myself get along great. I think it would be great if Lorelai had this big magnificent wedding with Luke and Rory would be there and Rory would date Tristen or Jess.

Shelby Mon, Jan 7, 2008 at 08:55 PM EST

I personaly dont think it should have any relation to gilmore girls at all. we already had that great show, but now it is time for somthing new, i think she should be about a woman (lauren) Who is trying hard to make it in the big life, like i think she gets offered a job in HollyWood and she is normally the kind of person that isnt all into the star life, but she starts fitting in and it should just be about that, or it could also be about she is an aspiring horse rider in tenesse and her dad is a rcovering alcholic her mom died when she was giving birth so she finds comfort in riding horses so she feels that that is her way of mother daughter time

GG BACK! I didn't like much the last season, I'd like a proper end for GG, one more season, a movie, whatever..
I want Lauren to be the main character of a new show, because apart from GG I don't think she's been given very good roles as for example in 'Evan Almighty'. She deserves to be the protagonist!

Angie Sat, Jan 5, 2008 at 02:21 PM EST

I like the idea of one person here. She could have a show where her and sookie carry on with the inn. Have it funny and witty, kind of like "The Bob Newhart Show". I think I have that one right. Where he had that inn in Vermont. But you get what I mean.

wsav Thu, Jan 3, 2008 at 11:09 PM EST

I think that it would be cool if her character was a married mother, lived in a rural area, and worked as a principal at her child's school.

md Wed, Jan 2, 2008 at 10:45 PM EST

I JUST LOVE LAUREN GRAHAM ,I THINK IT WOULD BE COOL IF SHE LIVED IN A SMALL RURAL TOWN IN THE WEST AND BECAME THE FIRST WOMEN TO COACH A BOYS FOOTBALL OR BASKETBALL TEAM AND LEAD THEM TO A WINNING SEASON LET BE FUNNY WITH DRAMA TOO. SHE HAS FAMILY 2 YOUNG BOYS AND ONE TEENAGE DAUGHTER WHO IS VERY REBELIOUS AND A HUSBAND WHO OWNS A SMALL HARDWARE STORE.

Emily Wed, Dec 26, 2007 at 10:06 PM EST

Something where she can be witty and fun. However somthing that will truly challenge her acting skills. As long as shes not the host of some new reality show and shes not some mom who only has 2 lines in every episode I'll probably like whatever she does.

Tue, Dec 25, 2007 at 08:53 AM EST

I would like to see her in a show where she is a successful careerwoman in a big city but also has one or two small children and a husband, trying to figure out how to cope with all that.. I would love her doing a show that has a 'real' story-line to it but ofcourse with her amazing wit!

Tracye Fri, Dec 7, 2007 at 06:44 PM EST

I think that Lauren should hire me as a developing producer to help develop some of the programs under her department. I have a lot of great ideas that will take the network to another level. Programs that she can executive produce and shows that she can star in as well. If I mention them here, trust me, they will be a hit on another network.

Brenda Mon, Nov 19, 2007 at 02:53 PM EST

I LOVE LAUREN GRAHAM!! Is so fantastic!! Is a wonderful actress and a great person.

Linda Mon, Nov 19, 2007 at 12:24 AM EST

Lauren should continue making movies. She is a very entertaining guest when she has been on the late night and day time talk shows. I would love to see her do a guest role on Nip and Tuck. Gilmore girls was a great show, it had everything , great story lines, funny dialogue, great acting. Definitely will be a hard act to follow. I think HBO should have cut her a deal. Lauren when the heck are you going to host Saturday Night Live.

Mary Tucker Sun, Oct 28, 2007 at 12:38 PM EST

I think she should be an agent or publicist in a firm, something along the lines of the old Absolutely Fabulous- that was a well written comedy.

Amanda Mon, Oct 22, 2007 at 08:37 AM EST

The spy/bounty hunter shows are a hit right now. I think a female counter to Burn Notice on USA would be awesome. The show has drama & comedy, and I could see Lauren as a bounty hunter type. I'd also like to see something teaming up Lauren and Melissa McCarthy. Maybe a funny drama show that follows a line like the movie No Reservations? Keep Melissa as the chef and Lauren as the owner, I think it could be hilarious.

Sun, Oct 21, 2007 at 04:51 PM EST

Go to http://www.savethelorelais.org/ and sign the petition for a "season 8" og Gilmore Girls (via 2 hour movie maybe?)

isabella Sun, Oct 7, 2007 at 11:06 PM EST

she's way too cool for a regular sitcom. she totally needs a dramedy, i agree with everyone who said that. give her a good script and an awesome cast because she will give nbc a hit if they want it! go lauren, i'm so excited!

Sun, Oct 7, 2007 at 12:51 PM EST

BRING GILMORE GIRLS BACK, PLEASE!!!!

christy Fri, Oct 5, 2007 at 04:29 PM EST

I also agree that GIlmore Girls should continue on...but, since that is not the case, i think it would be great if Lauren did another family drama/comedy...she has this amazing, unique gift of being able to do both Drama and Comedy very well...she is able to be soooo funny but also play a dramatic, more serious part...there are FAR too FEW family dramas or comedies on primetime network tv...please please give us just one! and please put Lauren Graham in it!

Noele Sun, Sep 30, 2007 at 10:58 AM EST

I liked Lauren Graham as she portrayed Lorelai Gilmore, which I believe to have been the show of a lifetime for her. Time will tell of course. I have my doubts however as to her abilities to “develop” a hit show. Throughout Gilmore Girls she was out of tune with the fans. What she wanted and saw for the show was not at all what the vast majority of the fans wanted and wanted to see on their screen. She was constantly surprised at fans reactions to the Lorelai/Christopher story, the story that she wanted to develop. This, in great part, lead to the demise of the show. So I have serious doubts as to her creative abilities other than acting a part. What she would need first of all is to have a solid team of writers. However, there are no guarantees in this business. Look at Studio 60 that had all the ingredients of a successful show and yet failed. I wish her and the studio “lots of luck”.

Benny Sun, Sep 30, 2007 at 07:31 AM EST

I would love it for Gilmore girls to go on but if they couldn't, they said a deal with NBC, so I think she should be a new hero on heroes. Or,how about making a new show, as her as the star.

Celestine ELterich Sun, Sep 30, 2007 at 05:49 AM EST

Lauren was perfect in Gilmore Girls.

Nancy Sat, Sep 29, 2007 at 09:05 AM EST

I think she should do another Family drama. She really needs to stay away from sitcoms...I think she'd do ok in Boston Legal, but I don't watch that show, so how about something like Brothers and Sisters (I know its the wrong network)

Gracie Thu, Sep 27, 2007 at 12:46 PM EST

I really think Lauren should do another comedy teen series like "Gilmore Girls" I really wish Gilmore Girls would go on though.

Tucker Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 11:00 PM EST

I agree totally that Lauren is criminally overlooked and a very underated actress.

I think she would've been great in a show like Boston Legal to be totally honest.... But Please Lauren, stay away from canned laughter sitcoms!!!

Sara Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 06:18 PM EST

I'd love to see Lauren in a family comedy. She justs does comedy so well and it would great to see her in one again.

claudia Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 02:49 PM EST

i hope a great show i want a comedy because she is so good but gilmore was a drama or thats what they say but something like gilmore will be great. whatever she does its awesome!.

Hannah Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 01:20 PM EST

Yeah, how about NBC gets the rest of the cast of Gilmore Girls + Amy Sherman-Palladino and make an eighth season of Gilmore Girls, yo? Seriously.

super d Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 11:04 AM EST

i don`t know i miss so much gg (gilmore girls) for my is perfect for a show like this the character of lorelai is peerfect for her

caroline Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 10:37 AM EST

a show about loving, comical and cool family, with a child that is just starting school. the story should be about how they deal with situartions and how the husband will discover that she is having an affair.

caroline Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 10:37 AM EST

Tracey Wed, Sep 26, 2007 at 07:05 AM EST

I am with the few who voted for Stephanie Plum. I have read all these books and I actually see Lauren Graham as the lead character. An Emmy in the making.

Jillian Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM EST

As much as I would LOVE for her to do something Gilmore Girls related I realize there's a slim chance a show written for her is going to be that. However, I like the idea of LG playing a wacky, single teacher who takes care of one of her students when abuse plagues the teen. Whatever role she plays I want her to be as free and open... not just being "a wife", still have a comedic role but able to pursue more of the deeper acting that may have been neglected in the past. The teacher should have quirkiness to her but also have a serious side when it comes to her students. Then again that's just me and I'm working on becoming a writer so that's the idea I personally would have.

Meg Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 09:36 PM EST

I would love to see Lauren Graham as the lead character of Stephanie Plum. Janet Evanovich writes the Number Series and it would be based off of her. Stephanie Plum is a quirky, hilarious, bounty hunter, who has absolutely no luck at all. The books are hilarious and I can see her really doing an awesome job with the role.

Judy Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 07:46 PM EST

I think Lauren needs to be the center of an ensemble cast of quirky characters similar to Boston Legal or some of the old shows like MTM or Taxi. I see her as the host or the producer of a DIY show surrounded by an eclectic group of TV people, decorators, and carpenters. Or she's a Rachael Ray character taste-testing from city to city, meeting quirky characters and funny situations as she travels. Or she's the teacher of the year type in a school struggling with underfunding and apathy, but full of personality and quirks-- A Ms. Kotter perhaps?

Anna B Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 07:20 PM EST

Put lauren on a comedy as a mom she would play a great mom(duh) or her be single and looking for a man,MAKE SURE ITS A COMEDY! i LOVE he by the way!

emily G Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 06:57 PM EST

i think lauren graham should play a role that will show off her unique sense of humor and dramatic taste. she should probly steer away from the beautiful show gilmore girls because then what happens if it fails? or becomes so unoriganal? i have faith in lauren but i mean it cant all be her decision about what happens with what goes on, and then everything we've ever known will end up (maybe) what we didnt want or even expect. so definitly something with another steer. lauren im sure has great taste, i mean she did only stay with the show for 7 long years! and she became a producer of the show the last season so she knows what shes doing and im sure what ever she comes up with will turn out great and what all the fans will adore and love. and hopefully we'll see some of our favorite old stars (from GG) return as a guest star ESPECIALLY amy and dan sherman-palladino, and dan schnieder and everyone else who led lauren in the direction she is today. i love you lauren and follow your heart

Joey Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 06:35 PM EST

Something definitely strong. And funny. She deserves a comedy role. Maybe some drama, too, like everyday life. I just believe Lauren deserves the best they can think up. She's got talent and she needs to show more of it.

Elissa Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 04:06 PM EST

My first choice is for her to do some kind of continuation of Gilmore Girls with much of the same cast. Keep the quirky dramedy flavor. Scott Patterson is a MUST! She will never have more chemsitry with any other man! They were magic on the small screen. Even if the plot of the show is completely different, Scott needs to be her male counterpart.

New idea would be that Lauren play an intellectual psychotherapist who does everything by the book and according to what Western Medicine tells you, and Scott Patterson plays an acupunturist/herbalist who is very knowledgeable in Eastern medicine and in natural remedies. They share an office suite and interact quite a lot with each other and with sharing patients. Or Lauren could be the acupuncturist/herbalist and Scott can be the psychotherapist.

Debbie Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 01:46 PM EST

I think that the show should focus LG as a Hollywood agent and her interactions with other agents and difficult clients. And in addition, why her character can't find love in the sea of so many beautiful, yet shallow men. However, there should be an ex-husband character who she still has sparks with, but was and is still threatened by her independence and can't deal with her success. It would allow great dialogue between the agents and could have some great fashion for LG.

Chloie Tue, Sep 25, 2007 at 01:17 PM EST

Something smart, I know it will be cause it's LG but just want to make sure. ;) I'd be ok with almost anything she does as long as it's not gross, like something that doesn't have alot of half naked people and drinking and drugs and such, something fairly clean. Oh and not another doctor/cop/CSI type show. Those shows are so overdone.

Something that would be great is if she did a show that was a mix of everything. Comedy, drama, maybe even action just for the sake of doing something different. I definately would like to see her stick with the funny/dramatic roles like Gilmore Girls.

And hey, whats wrong with LG playing a "new mutant on Heroes who stops bad guys with her disarming wit and encyclopedic store of pop-cultural references"? lol!

Nothing will beat Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore though. Her role on that show was irreplaceable

Jen Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 11:08 PM EST

A Dramedy that shows off her acting chops.

I really really hope this works out. Lauren has had some bad lucks before GG.

BROOKIE Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 10:45 PM EST

she should do something dramaish and comedyish something that has a story and will keep her busy well paid and keep us intertained more movies but also a show we can look forward to once a week a Whole new show maybe the one she wanted to put on and make

barbara o'neill Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 09:33 PM EST

she should do a family show, no canned laugh tracks. something along the line of lucille ball. she does great physical comedy as well as delivering a great line. get away from gg, she has more depth than lorelai.

Samantha Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 09:02 PM EST

I think Lauren does well in comedy. Gilmore Girls was great seasons 1-7 but it was more enjoyable and less dramatic in seasons 1-6. I know thats the writers part. But comedy really brings out the humor and spark in Lauren Graham!

Delilah Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 08:51 PM EST

Go Lauren! Its about time she landed such a big, if unknown, role. I'd say she works well with dramedys like Gilmore Girls. Shes absolutely hillarious, but she performs those heartwarming scenes flawlesly as well.

Cara Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 08:45 PM EST

I say a Gilmore Girls Spin-off - Staring soley Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore!

Cathy Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 07:54 PM EST

YAY! I'm so glad she's coming back!
I miss Gilmore Girls so much!

Anyways, I'd love to see Lauren in something funny, and catchy like Gilmore Girls. Not a really, really serious show, something that she's gets to be creative and fun. Like she is on guest shows? She looks like she'd be so much fun to hang out with! :]

K. Paul Mallasch Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 07:23 PM EST

Lauren should play Hildy in a remake of the 1940 version of His Girl Friday. That, or they should make a show based on that movie with her as the lead character. It's a perfect fit! If you haven't seen His Girl Friday, check it out and see for yourself. You could update it to modern times - email instead of telegraphs, website instead of newspaper, etc.

Thoughts?

Grey Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 06:53 PM EST

I would like to see Lauren doing something different 'cause she is capable of doingo sooo much
Drama, Comedy, Dramedy, etc

Val Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 06:42 PM EST

I hope to see lauren graham on something funny because thats her, and we'll get to see her how she was in gilmore girls! I would love to see her with a sexy guy because she was with scott and Mathew Perry (real life) I just really want to see Lauren acting again! I miss you Lauren!
But make sure its on after school because i wont be able to see it unless it is on at 6:00 - 7:00 am then i could watch it!
Love you for always Lauren
Val
P.S im so proud! I'm like a pround moma! LMAO!

Tori Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 06:27 PM EST

if i could pick the show for her it would be gilmore girls i am addicted to it!!

Heather Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 06:08 PM EST

If I could pick any show for Lauren, I would put Gilmore Girls back on the air! But if I had to chose a new one I would want it to be another dramady...maybe even something with Scott Patterson! I miss seeing the old GG cast!!! Good luck Lauren, you deserve this!!!

sara(germany) Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 05:54 PM EST

...place her infront of a camera, make her pout and I´ll watch it... Oh and make sure that the show is sold to a German Network, too ;-)
I really hope she´s getting a good show and that it will be on german tv...

photojulie1970 Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 05:11 PM EST

I would love to see a Reality Show about Lauren Graham, all about her life all the things she loves to do in her life and all her dreams and love life. That would so Awesome to see. Or a show with her and Luke again, where they they left off on the Gilmore Girls. Anything she would do would be so Great cause she is the Greatest Actress Ever!!!! She is my #1 Hero Ever!!! I just love her on T.V. She does play a great Mom! We want more of her and lots of it!! She great just in her old Jeans and T-shirts!! That is her!!! So good luck on making a Great show, I am sure it will be so great on whatever you pick for her!!! She is the Best Ever!! Thanks! Photojulie

Claire Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 05:03 PM EST

OH--- And can we scrape up enough cash to have Amy Sherman-Palladino write the show? Not sure any other writer is worthy of Lauren's comic AND dramatic abilities.

Claire Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 04:41 PM EST

I like the style of shows like Northern Exposure and Gilmore Girls -- intellegent, clever & witty-- WITH NO LAUGH TRACKS. I'd like to see Lauren team up with Tea Leoni, perhaps as sisters just dealing with life in a humorous way. I think they are both underrated actresses.

tori Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 03:31 PM EST

i think it would be awesome if she was in some sort of witty but dramatic show that has her have different aged daughters and their experiences together or something to that affect.

Rob Jensen (ShutUpRob) Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

Hey, lola, except for references to a certain whaddayaknow, you just described Weeds. Which well, is, y'know, Gg with Lorelai as a seller of an interesting vegetable. Hee.

Jessica Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 01:55 PM EST

I would like to see her in a dramedy where she marries and has kids with someone that she has loved for a long time but it took her a while to realize it.. oh wait, thats just an 8th season of gilmore girls =)

lola Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 12:37 PM EST

Hi! I want Lauren to portray a hip divorce woman with a couple of kids in a neighborhood full of like-minded women and single men (maybe a few families that seem to have it all). Lots of PTA meetings, work interviews, and kid drama; along with strong female roles. Balancing family life and work (like most women) along with a great sense of humor. I want her to be a strong and loveable woman that real women can relate to. That includes the struggles and the drama, but also the love and devotion. Great Luck to her. I am glad to hear she has not only landed on both feet, but also jumped ahead of the game. Way to go Lauren!

Alana Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 12:02 PM EST

we all know lauren graham as lorelai gilmore.her quirky and nonchelant attitude was what made the show good.it would be nice to have another lorelai character again, and who better to play that character but Lauren Graham?

Parker Pinkham Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 10:06 AM EST

TV is missing a family show like Gilmore Girls. I would like to see a nice family show that has real life events and family values. Gilmore was a great example of what should still should be onair now! Gilmore fans were robbed by how they ended the show. I would love to see something similar.

Michele Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 09:54 AM EST

I know this has been done before, but I would love to see Lauren in a dramatic ensemble cast/role such as Thirtysomething. Family, friends, relationships, etc...

Danila Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 08:59 AM EST

I think Lauren should play a different role than Lorelai Gilmore!
She has been great, amazing playing Lorelai, but if she wants to come back on television she has to choose something different!
I'd like to see Lauren playing a business woman, a policewoman....or something like that!

Julia Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 08:00 AM EST

Or something like Grey's anatomy but without haspital, rather a fashion magazine and there will be a group of friends but Lauren-character would be leading part.

Julia Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 07:56 AM EST

I love Lauren in GG and I would like to see her in something which show she's funny and sophisticated.Maybe samoething like superwoman-detective by night and a teacher during the day, or just simple normal- detective, but really funny.

Arzo Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 07:17 AM EST

she is ill, she has a bad illness. she has to fight against it. but on the other hand she works as a comedian and she doesn't think about her life. carpe diem. no risk, no fun is her motto. pleaso no doc, no cop or detective, laywer or something similar. i love her!

valeria crazy of lorelai/lauren Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 06:26 AM EST

MyDevice Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 01:52 AM EST

Keep it smart. And please, please, please: no doctor, no cop.
Drama with a litle bit comedy, and then give her an Emmy - She
deserves it more than anybody else.

Trisha Mon, Sep 24, 2007 at 12:58 AM EST

She should do another comedy/drama. she should play the antagonist.

stacey Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 11:41 PM EST

i think that she could play the lead as a funny dectective sort...she's never really done anything like that and i think she'd be good at it.

Allie Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 10:58 PM EST

Keep it smart and funny. That's what she is best at. I wouldn't mind seeing her in a realistic family drama again with a different twist this time.

aussie viewer Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 10:25 PM EST

lauren graham is so very talented and great with the verbal banter. i would like to see her in a romantic drama where she can show her great verbal abilities as well as her indepth ability to portay a miriad of emotions. give her a more adult role and more indepth as i feel in gg the best episodes are the ones with friction in the family. may be a role with some emotional tension. but at the end of the day, she is a brilliant actress and will be great to see her again on television, feel she is very under rated. thanks.

Allyson Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 10:20 PM EST

I really want to see her in a comedy or a drama show. She seems to do good in those types of shows.

a Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 09:21 PM EST

whatever it is, keep it smart...

slar Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 08:21 PM EST

I want to see her as the antagonist, not the protagonist. I don't think we've seen the limits of what this woman can do and I think this would be the best way to demonstrate her versatility. If done correctly, she could show off her considerable wit and charm and throw in a little manipulativeness and maybe a little good old fashioned evil.

Making her the antagonist might also make it easier to put together the all-star cast that seems to be needed these days to have a hit show that isn't a one-trick pony.

Oh, and let her flaunt it a little.

Lauren_is_the_best_EVER Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 08:16 PM EST

I would love to see LG do a comedy/drama! she should do a show where she is a single woman, down to earth, very successful, and cant find a steady relationship to save her life. kinda like her character in GG only without a daughter(not that i dont absolutly adore Alexis)just her having to deal with everyday problems. She is such a talented actress....make sure u dont put her in a crappy sappy dramatic role..she has to have some comedy b/c she is so good at makin people laugh!~

ceemess Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 08:09 PM EST

definitely another comedy.. shes just soo funny

Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 08:01 PM EST

i would love to see her as a lead role in a drama:] something a little different than Gilmore so we can see different sides of her:]

Jennifer Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 06:54 PM EST

I think she should be a drama/comedy..Im sooo excited that she is going to be back on film!!!!!!!!

Katie Sun, Sep 23, 2007 at 05:20 PM EST

I think she should star in a drama show about...uh...I really don't know! I just think she rocks at drama, not to mention some comedy. I can't wait for this show! Lauren Graham is my idol!

caroline Sat, Sep 22, 2007 at 07:05 AM EST

Lauren should definitly star in the office for at least two episodes! She talked about it in an interview and she was going to be a sandwich deliverer. I think the chemistry between the cast and her would be great. i hope they do this in addition to making her her own show. i just hope they make it a good show. so many people do comebacks on t.v and they suck. so do well!!

Anne Fri, Sep 21, 2007 at 06:13 PM EST

I would like her to play some drama but also witty comedy as in GG but absolutly not a doctor, or cup...
Maybe like a mom with some truble in her daily life and... well I don't know I guess I'll just would like her to be the main character

lauren_fan Fri, Sep 21, 2007 at 08:32 AM EST

i would be entertained just watching lauren graham breathe but i bet it would be thrilling to watch her with matthew perry.

Rob Jensen (ShutUpRob) Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 10:46 PM EST

"Wacky, free-spirited Gen-X Chick from a rich protestant Irish family, complete with mother issues and second-cousin interbreeding, romances scruffy, balding diner owner in small Connecticut town inhabited by looney eccentrics and eccentric loonies. Said Wacky Irish Chick and said scruffy diner owner blend their families (two precociously intelligent daughters), they argue a lot, they argue a lot and they argue a LOT more, especially about whether or not they're going to have more kids because she's turning 40 and her biological clock is ticking rather loudly. Hilarity ensues. Final season is eight-episode miniseries in which a dozen dangling plotlines are resolved without resorting to the cheesiness of a big wedding in the last hour."

Either that, or . . wait, I've got it:

Lauren Graham is . . . Natasha Romanova in . . . Black Widow: The Series. See the sexy superspy of Marvel Comics fight the forces of evil led by the Black Widow's predecessor, Elena (played by Peta Wilson.)

Megan Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 05:44 PM EST

Lauren Graham had spent the last 7 years being a friewoman. She gets fired, and has to move away for provit reasons. She moves to Alaska whre she dscivers her birth mom because she was adopted. THey go trough toubles, and Lauren can't find work in Alaska becasue there aren't many fires there. There are misshapps, and issues they have to go throuhg. It like an open book.

Jeramy Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 02:50 PM EST

Senario:
Lauren is a former methhead who's just come out of rehab. She has a turbulant but loving relationship with her adopted brother who is Black and sells drugs. She secretly blames him and her overbearing mother (of course, she's overbearing) for her former addiction.

The show centers around her up-and-down relationship with her brother and mother, her struggle to stay clean and her commitment to forming a good relationship with her resentful and flighty teen daughter and her toddler son who is now in sole costody of his father. (Yes, this it a sitcom but a bit dark and sardonic).

castlenes Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 07:16 AM EST

LG plays a happy, well adjusted successful woman married to her childhood sweetheart/best friend. He finally decided to come out of the closest. She is shocked and has to start from scratch because she never dated anyone else. She maintains a challenging friendship with the ex-husband who seems truly happy for the first time in his life and LG is off balanced and confused for the the first time ever. How can she come to terms with the life she had and gain the strength needed to start a new one? Imagine all the firsts she will experience - first pick up - date - sex with another person - more breakups and all the time she tries to he happy for the ex who is her best friend but she has alot of issues to work out there as well. I see an awkward HS reunion episode. Think starting over at 40 without having done anything in your 20s.

Brad Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 04:29 AM EST

Gosh, I wish Lauren Graham could have joined the cast of 'Studio 60'. That show would have been 100 percent better. She could have been one of the writers or a lovely foil for Amanda Peet's Jordan. I was starting to like her.

Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 01:02 AM EST

omG...they should put Lauren as Alec Baldwin's (i forgot his character's name) archenemy in 30 Rock...it would be awesome to see them have like a wit-off..and also she should be Liz Lemon's new (and only) female friend...now THAT's good tv

lovelauren Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 12:32 AM EST

I LOVE LAUREN GRAHAM...this close to being IN love with her....and hopefully NBC wont screw it up like theyve done in the past...if the show sucks...its because NBC sucks..not LG..hopefully they wont jinx it as they have done in the past....and finally, i sorta have an ideal role for her...how about a Columbo-esque type of role..NOT mrs. columbo...she sucked...but the actual female version OF Columbo....its smart, funny, intriguin...and how many emmys did peter falk win...?? exaaactly.

kate Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 12:24 AM EST

I'm totally lovin' the Rosalind Russell "His Girl Friday" suggestion and "The Thin Man" ideas. Please no sitcoms with laugh tracks. Please no more single motherhood. Please no more looking for mister right guy. Make her a journalist. Make her single and career-minded. Give her a hot editor or photographer to scoop "mysteries" with and make them flirt. And make him chase her for once! Keep up the Hammett-style banter.

Victoria Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:04 PM EST

I'm glad that Lauren will be back on TV especially on NBC.Hopefully they will create a great show for her (as long as it's not a cop/medical/some boring recycle ideas) so she can win that Emmy.

Amanda Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 08:43 PM EST

As long as they don't pull a CBS and put her in a lame sitcom with 2 kids and a fat unattractive husbund, I'll watch it. Whatever the show is, she should have a stable romantic life--I watched her struggle to find a fulfilling relationship enough on Gilmore Girls.

Matti Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 08:04 PM EST

On GG Lauren Graham rocked maternal scenes and awkward scenes. I'd bring those hands together with her reluctantly becoming a brand new stepmother, only to lose her husband, around episode one, and get stuck with the stepson who is weird/adorably damaged, and the stepdaughter who likes to remind LG that she's not her real mother.

Eventually aim for the vibe Liam Neeson/Thomas Sangster created in Love Actually for the thawed out happy moments, with the odd tear-your-heart-out moment for good measure. Dead Dad/Husband? If you can't find something to cry about in there, you're just not trying.

Oh and the pretty, pretty clothes from GG? Yeah I'd grab as many arm fulls of those as possible.

Jenny Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 07:56 PM EST

Honestly, they could film Lauren Graham directing traffic and I would tune in every week. As long as Ms Graham is on my screen(and hopefully getting the accolades she so richly deserves), I'm a happy girl.

Oh, but it wouldn't hurt if she could do the quick, quippy thing that she is so very skilled at.

Mel Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 06:08 PM EST

Ooooh, and I like Katherine's idea.

Mel Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 06:04 PM EST

I'll watch her in anything, but while we're adding CW/V Mars alums to the hypothetical new cast, can we please find a role for Percy Diggs III? (Why is that while Kristen Bell is on Heroes and Chris Lowell is on Private Practice and Jason Dohring is on Moonlight, Percy Diggs is in a Hot Pockets commercial? Why?)

Katherine Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 05:40 PM EST

I vote for a mystery comedy (Monk and Psych are both successful) based on The Thin Man. LG's a fast-talking dame (as was Myrna Loy) and she could have all these really loopy society friends, and her husband (and I second whoever said to make him hot and make them kiss a lot) could have all these loopy detective friends.

Em Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 04:54 PM EST

What if she had a Sandra Dee/Martha Stewart kind of show only to find out that she's not the artsy fartsy cooking type and someone's out to spoil the secret? I know, I know, contrived, but I think she can pull off the show a la Rachael Ray and yet come out on top when she's forced to "perform" in front of the camera.

Lucy Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 04:34 PM EST

Or, make her the wife of a super rock star. She stays home with their kids while the husband is on tour for months. She has to deal with the jealousy of her husband's fans and OF COURSE, the papparazzi; but they have a great marriage and they make it work. They both try to save the world when the husband is not making music or touring *wink-wink*

Lucy Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 04:08 PM EST

It has to be something written by Sorkin (hoping he's gotten over expressing his inner traumas). I want her to be a strong, smart, successful character with a very handsome husband (please make them kiss a lot) She could be a senator, mayor, president of a company, have her own big law firm, something like that and make the show about nothing and everything at the same time. I can't wait.

GingerCat Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 03:49 PM EST

krishnaa, it's interesting that you mention "Pepper Dennis," because when Rebecca Romijn had dark hair in X-Men 3, I thought she looked a lot like Lauren. Lauren acts circles around Rebecca, though!
dala, I don't know if it was intentional, but your idea sounds just like "Sex and the City." No offense, but the last thing I want to see Lauren in is a show about her "looking for Mr. Right."

krishnaa Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 03:05 PM EST

A lot of these sound like sitcoms or dramedies akin to Pepper Dennis. How about her playing Psyche (a therapist, of course) married to a guy named Cupid (a matchmaker, natch)? It could be like Xena/Hercules in that it has all the Greek gods and goddesses as caricatures of themselves.

Scott P Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 02:49 PM EST

You could pretty much have her just reading the phone book, and I'd still watch it. And it'd still be better than the last two seasons of Gilmore Girls.

junior Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 01:49 PM EST

While I love LG, I don't think she's enough to lead a hit-worthy series. She should build a great team of stars around her with her being the lead. I'm thinking her, Margaret Cho, Lisa Kudrow, and Stanley Tucci in a 1-hour dramedy about a group of 40 somethings who get replaced by 20 somethings at a NYC ad agency (or an LA talent agency, it doesn't matter) and find they all can't afford their former lifestyles, so they move in together in the poor section of town and try to start their own business. Throw in a past romance subplot between LG and Tucci, and hilarity (and drama) ensues.

Mags Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 01:48 PM EST

goodforlauren im totally digging ur idea. All u need is Rob Thomas and its a hit. Or it will be a cult hit loved by the critics and canceled in 2 seasons.

Jess Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 01:38 PM EST

Retooled Mary Tyler Moore show, but by Aaron Sorkin. Lauren Graham can carry off anything fast and verbal, and she's got the effortless beauty and charm of Moore.

goodforlauren Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 01:26 PM EST

Cast Graham as the owner of an agency who people hire to break up with their significant others for them. Cast Kristen Bell, Matthew Perry, and James Franco as her employees. Her sister runs a match-making service and her parents have been happily married for 40 years. She has commitment issues, not because of some deep seated psychological issues, but because of all the horrible things she sees in the course of her work of what happens when people end relationships. Give her a great apartment, good wardrobe, and the ability to talk sense into people. And some sort of opening monologue along the lines of "We pay people to find us dates, when not pay someone to end them."

Aaron Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 01:20 PM EST

She should play a life coach who goes around helping "losers" gain confidence and achieve their goals by manipulating situations (like if Hitch were more about achieving your dreams as opposed to getting the girl...and if it were funny). She'd be part therapist, part con woman, part drill sargeant. And, of course, her own personal life would be a delectable mess when her fiance dies in a freak X-Games accident.
I may go register this with the WGA...

Laurie Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:59 PM EST

How did u manage to find a bad pic of Lauren? She looks like a blowup doll.

dala Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:52 PM EST

i got an idea!!! she should star in an hour long dramdy about a rich and successful woman living in nyc, and shes living the life, dating and having a great social scene in nyc. along the way, she meets a great guy and she has these 2 great best friends and a great job working for mtv. a few mishaps happens along her journey looking for mr. right or something and the show should be called " the big apple"

GingerCat Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:45 PM EST

I hope NBC doesn't mess this up . . . god knows Lauren was misused in a huge number of sitcoms before GG came along (the one exception: NewsRadio).
I think she should pair up with the producers who did "My So-Called Life" and "Once and Again." Those guys always do a good job.

Rahul Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:19 PM EST

A single-camera workplace comedy -no steady love interest, just random hook-ups

Ames Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:15 PM EST

She should not play: a cop, lawyer, or a doctor. Those professions are off limits. I like the Rosalind Russel type reporter idea. her significant other is her intellectual equal that she bounces ideas off of at night.

ag Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 12:06 PM EST

how about a single cam about a woman who runs a late night sketch comedy show where they write nothing but sketches about a boring paper company?

oh wait, i mean, just put her in ANYTHING between 30 rock and the office.

TheBookPolice Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:59 AM EST

Re: networks with animal mascots... What about Fox? Isn't their mascot an elephant? Or is that just the "official" Republican Party?

mikey Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:51 AM EST

Pair her with me in a show about...well, what it's about wouldn't really matter.

stephen Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:37 AM EST

how about she plays an actress in Hollywood who's insanely talented yet constantly overlooked at award time yet manages to keep her sensibility and wit. Oh, wait...

Erica Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:35 AM EST

Pair her with Rob Thomas for a dramedy in which she owns and tends a working class bar and plays den mother to a host of odd regulars and a pack of siblings who can't quite get their stuff together; or match her with Greg Berlanti in a wacky family dramedy not kicked off by the death of a parent; OR reteam her with Amy Sherman-Palladino once again for a sitcom about a writer returning to the states after years of living abroad and trying to reconnect with her old life.

Sean Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:30 AM EST

How about a show about a small town woman who works in a bed and breakfast and has a teenage daughter that she had in her teens...and along the way we can meet the eccentric members of this sleepy little town. Oh wait...already did that. I think she needs a semi-lead role. Like a dramedy about a family with three different kids: the high powered attorney, the gay son/daughter doctor, and the bohemian daughter who lives in a small NYC apartment. The parents lose all of their money in a gambling spree, and force the kids to come home to take care of their broke parents. She has a live-in boyfriend, but she doesn't beleive in marriage.

Brainiac Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:22 AM EST

Put her in a really good sitcom! Where have all the good sticoms gone!

Okay, a really good dramedy would work as well - I must say, I'm liking the quick-witted lawyer idea that was posted earlier. A quick-witted executive wouldn't be bad, either.

Marybeth Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

I would love to see Lauren playing a reporter in the 1940s. Like Rosalind Russell in "His Girl Friday" or old-school Lois Lane, minus the guy in the cape.

Dave Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

Since I can't seem to come up with anything original at the moment, I'll borrow a little bit of everyone's ideas. Pair her with Matthew Perry in an hour-long dramedy written by Aaron Sorkin in which the two main characters are college professors (Patricia Heaton's original idea for her sitcom with Kelsey Grammar) at a small, liberal arts college. Or, to go another way, keep her with Perry (and Sorkin writing) and have them run a minor league sports franchise, with Perry as the coach and Graham as the owner/GM. I know it sounds random and might not work, but at least it'd be different than the typical workplace show.

LuLu Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:55 AM EST

Pair her with Matthew Perry (their interaction on "Studio 60" was the one strong point of that show) in some fast paced witty everyday life one hour long dramadey. Strong writing, strong characters.

mariootsa Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:55 AM EST

I like the idea of a workplace comedy, a-la Cheers...but not the usual fare. Something like Newhart...running a Hotel! hey-o!

aramis Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:47 AM EST

I hate to typecast her, but another Gilmore-esque role would be great. Not Lorelai per say, but something that definitely plays her wonderful ability to exchange quick wit and dialogue. AND I AGREE WITH NINEDAVES! Oh my gawd...putting her on a one of those types of shows would just be a tragic waste of extremely well-seasoned talent. I wish her well, and look forward to seeing what they come up with. I'm on board for anything that stars THE MOST CRIMINALLY OVERLOOKED, UNDERAPPRECIATED ACTRESS in the history of the Television Academy.

Julie Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:41 AM EST

I love Lauren and I would love to see her and Matthew Perry in a show together since they are longtime friends. And I second the no more Doctor/lawyer shows or single girl looking for love. Gag.

NineDaves Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:36 AM EST

i could probably tell you what i don't want to see her doing more than what i do want to see her doing. please please please - don't put her on a doctor, lawyer, single girl looking for love show. that being said, how about she plays a mother who is forced to go back to work and school after her husband loses her job. now he takes over the job of watching the kids, and she does something she's never done before - think about her own personal career goals.

GrahamLover Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:14 AM EST

Is there any way to get Aaron Sorkin or some other West Wing writers, directors, and producers involved? Match made in heaven, I say - she even made those couple of scenes she had in Studio 60 funny.

debba Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:11 AM EST

I could see her as a quick-witted lawyer - maybe family law. If anyone could make divorce or custody battles funny, it would be Lauren.

Louise Wed, Sep 19, 2007 at 10:05 AM EST

I hope NBC takes its time developing something really fantastic for her. She deserves it. I saw her on Conan a few weeks ago and she is one of the most genuinely funny actors I've ever seen on there.
