Sharks shag to Salt 'N' Pepa, not Britney

Pepa_l Someone please tell me the Discovery Channel was filming this: According to this piece from The Independent, researchers at 10 different German aquariums played sharks music for two hours a day, for four weeks, hoping to find a sound that stimulates their libidos. (The captives apparently aren't knockin' fins like they used to.) While Britney Spears fell flat at a facility in Munich, other cities got lucky: "Push It," by Salt 'N' Pepa (pictured) was a hit in Speyer, Joe Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On" did the trick in Timmendorf, and Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" had them courting in Konstanz.

What tracks would you recommend?

Sharks - Test Icicles
Shark Attack - Bouncing Souls
Mud Shark - Frank Zappa
Hammerhead - !!!
Maneater - Hall & Oates
Theme From 'Jaws' - John Williams

I know Maneater isn't even remotely about sharks, but even sharks sometimes like to take a little break from their incessant narcissism to rock out to a little Hall & Oates.

And if the sharks are into an 80's vibe, how about Prince's 'Starfish and Coffee'???

Joe C Thu, Aug 9, 2007 at 01:43 PM EST

Well, how about 'Vision of Love?' by Mariah? For the romantic in the sharks, of course!

I'd go with "Mack the Knife." Sample lyric:

"When the shark bites with his teeth, dear/scarlet billows begin to spread."

Kinky.

Let's see here, Barry White would be the obvious choice, but I think these are a little more fun:

Sexy Back, Rock Your Body, Dirty, I'm a Slave for You, Crazy in Love, Bootylicious, Justify My Love, All I Have to Give, I Want It That Way...and I'm now having WAY too much fun with this!

This is a no brainer. Animals are stimulated by music. Has anyone heard the old saying "music sooths the savage beast?" My Mom loves the local modern Jazz station in our area. One day she played the station in our backyard and my old cat just laid there with a look of comfort.

BTW: They should try "Funky Town" by Lips Inc.
