Greetings, PopWatchers. It's time to play "Name that Celebrity Cameo," starring this week's special guest... Nickelback!
Check out the music video for "Rockstar," which was a single off the Canadian band's 2005 album All the Right Reasons but for some reason never had a video. Perhaps it took two years to make all the calls necessary to create this clip, which is low on production value but high on star sightings. As Chad Kroeger croons about living the high life, various celebrities and everyday people lip-synch the words, which are at times pretty amusing — my favorite part is when Kroeger sings "Sign a couple autographs so I can get my meals for free" and then ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons deadpans, "I'll take the quesadilla." And my favorite lip-syncher is definitely the messenger bag-toting dude rocking out in front of "Hills High School" — if this doesn't get him a role as a bully in the next Bring It On, I don't know what will.
In many ways, this video is like one of those time capsules you make in grade school. Someone can dig this up in 30 years and discover a pretty comprehensive swath of pop culture personalities from around the turn of the millennium. This is how you remind me… of some people that used to be famous.
Anyway, I don't want to spoil the fun, so I'll turn it over to you, PopWatchers. Let us know whom you spot in the comments below.
