A very special message from Josh Hartnett

Hartnett_l Aww, thanks, Josh! I feel so validated about my career choice now that I know you recognize my fundamental humanity. And I can just see how this interview went:

JOURNALIST: Hey, Josh, y'know, I'm a person, too!
JOSH HARTNETT: Yes. YES! I see that now.

On a more serious not, though, can anyone figure out the trailer for his new movie, Resurrecting the Champ? It's like Raging Bull and Shattered Glass had some sort of horrific cutting-room collision.

"Someone reminds me why Hartnett keeps getting lead roles? What was the movie that he was REALLY good in again?!"
Uh...hmmm...err...uh...gee, I can't think of anything. That's how good he is; so good he's forgettable.

I will never understand why people comment on the PopWatch blog for the sole intention of bashing EW. The definition of journalists is "somebody who works as a writer or editor for a newspaper or magazine or for television or radio" which makes EW writers journalists. Is this the most important news in the world? Probably not but it's a fun read.

As for the movie, why does Hollywood keep making the same freaking sports movie again and again and again? Is anyone else tried of the same "inspirational story"?

I love Sam Jackson as much as the next person, but this crazy, over the top boxer with the hair and the funny speech is the worst role he's done in a long time.

I don't write for any magazines or blogs. Although I really should with my caustic wit. Speaking of, this trailer? Major suckage.

@MV - the bloggers are the writers. Check the names, it's the same ones in the magazine and in the blog.

As someone who works in a newspaper (The Tampa Tribune...cheap plug!) my personal favorite part of the trailer is when Hartnett's characters says something like "this article is my title shot." I literally laughed out loud when he said this because I imagine that would be my reaction if one of my colleagues ever used that line in real life.

That movie looks like some kind of terrible. Someone reminds me why Hartnett keeps getting lead roles? What was the movie that he was REALLY good in again?!

@krushgroove
What's worse, so are bloggers.

Sara Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:06 PM EST

saying that EW writers are not journalists is completely rude. It isn't US Weekly or People, this is real journalism, albeit entertainment journalism.

krushgroove Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:03 PM EST

EW writers are calling themselves 'journalists' now?

I found the trailer inexplicable, weird and overwrought myself, Simon. I guess we're not all as astute as good old JWP.

JWP Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:35 PM EST

Its really not that difficult: a journalist writes an article about a former champion boxer who may not be who he claims to be and now he needs to investigate the truth. Is that really complicated?
