Did you have any idea this was No. 1?

Agt_l Tonight's finale of NBC's America's Got Talent — which happens to the No. 1 TV show in the country right now — will NOT feature the Glamazons. (We just wanted to use this photo of them because they're all "Heeeeeey, we just murdered that guy on the floor with our heels"). I do not know anyone who watches this show, including you, P-Dubs. From what I've seen, it seems each performance is just a crap shoot into the gaping mess that is Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff (the latter of whom possesses an ever-changing tolerability index). There's always a slight chance that a high note, slight head jerk, or nothing at all will prompt these judges to out-fake-orgasm each other using words like fantastic. It's enough to make me do something completely irrational, like turn the TV off and read a book.

If you watch AGT, would you mind explaining why? Are the contestants genuinely talented and interesting? Do you effin' love Jerry Springer? Or is it quite simply that there's nothing else on?

im soo excited for tonight's season 3 premiere!!! i wonder if cas or terry will make an appearance!! love love love this show!!!!!

The What Sun, Aug 26, 2007 at 02:32 PM EST

Any one of Terry Fator, Cas Haley or Butterscotch definetly deserved to win. I think Cas Haley and Butterscotch are well on their way to lucrative careers. Butterscotch is the new Alicia Keys with the beatbox angle. Cas Haley will be playing on the stereos of college kids everywhere. Terry Fator was the guy that needed to win this the most since his act would not garner as much revenue as the other younger, more mainstream acts. He was extremely talented and deserved to win.

in reply to jennifer Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 03:42 PM EST

Terry may be semi talented, but after all, he is still a ventriloquist - one of the lowest forms of entertainment.

FLGrl Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 03:01 PM EST

I can't stand to watch it, but I caught some auditions a few minutes flipping over during commercials weeks ago, and I was actually amazed and moved by Cas Haley. I wish he had won.

Jennifer Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:50 PM EST

If someone thinks that Terry Fator did not deserve to win, try doing what he does.

hmack Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:40 PM EST

Yes, my girls (8 & 12) and I watch it and really enjoy it. Sad fact is, there's not a lot of tv on after 8 p.m. that we actually watch as a family. I didn't let them stay up til 10, but the youngest kept barginning for more time..."just one more commerical break?" All in all, we're happy that Terry won, but we also liked Robert Hatcher and I loved the Glamazons!

Working Girl Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:14 PM EST

Yes, I watch it. I have a hard time not watching any reality talent competitions of the song-and-dance variety.
I am ashamed. Unlike SYTYCD, Idol, or even Making the Band, I don't try to prod coworkers into heated debate. I can't imagine anyone else would admit to watching it, anyway.
Cas Haley wuz robbed, btw.

AAAcomeon Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 01:18 PM EST

Yes I am a want to be a want to be Glamazons, but just to old. We lager gils have fought the good fight for years. They shuld have been in the top four and help make a differens in to the girls in the shollow people. And the last two were ver talented and deserved to have contrances.

ceejay Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:26 PM EST

Love the show; it's entertaining, diverse, and even if I have to put up with sourpuss Pearce, or however he spells his name, and although I now always agreed with the judges, I plan to continue watching. By the way, in my opinion the best show won: Terry Fator is great.

poochie Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:20 PM EST

Those are some sexy full figured women in that picture....MMMM!!!

susan Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 11:53 AM EST

didn't plan on watching... got sucked in on vacation... An actual talented person won... a Ventriloquist singer who does celebrity impressions.. he blew me away!

Jingles Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 11:48 AM EST

I thought it was just me, The Hoff's singing was actually very irritating, I couldn't wait until it was over. Don't know how the remaining judges could even compliment him on it and he sells DVD's?!?

GeeMoney Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 11:01 AM EST

WHO IN THE HELL LET DAVID HASSELHOFF SING ON AIR!?!?!?!?!? He is a horrible singer! They should kick him off of the show, not to mention, kick him out of the country, for singing horribly on the air. My ears are bleeding just talking about his singing!

Kelsey Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 11:01 AM EST

WHY? WHY? (Falls to knees, screaming at the TV gods in despair) I guess it is harmless entertainment that the whole family can enjoy with very little parental squirming. If the acts are good, you can enjoy them. When they suck, parents can begin to teach their youngesters why one does not appear on reality TV.

sdr Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 10:43 AM EST

what's next- an update of Real People or the Donny and Marie show? We are in the midst of an unfortunate revival of 70's style revue shows. Back then, there were only like 5 channels so people had no choice. I have no idea what the excuse is now.

Billdog Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:55 AM EST

This show, I agree, was a lot of trainwreck and not too much talent. However, as others have said, the top 3 were excellent, unique, and definitly talented. It amazes me that other comments blast a ventriloquist winning; it is obvious that they did not see a moment of Terry's performances. If they had, they would know that Terry has an incredible gift and is beyond deserving of the win.

Bobby Rowe Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:37 AM EST

I held David Hasselhoff's business card once. It just says "DAVID HASSELHOFF" in giant silver letters on a black card. Notably, it makes no claim of a function in society.

swimstud2 Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:28 AM EST

The Glamazons are absolutley amazing. They should have made the top 4 and without them in the competition I didn't tune in.

Kevin Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:24 AM EST

Mmm...Glamazons. They should have won strictly on sex appeal.

ladygale Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 09:06 AM EST

I've watched this show, both last season and this. The best reason I can up with as to why? Well, it's much like watching a train wreck as it's happening. You really shouldn't look at it for more than a passing moment, but then suddenly you're sucked in. It's fascinating. Much like American Idol, but without the age limits or limiting acts to vocals, this show runs the gamut from the ridiculous to the sublime.
The finale certainly could (and should) have been cut down to 1 hour. Everyone in THIS country would have been happier if The Hoff had stayed in his judge's seat, and we truly could have done without seeing the parade of the show's WORST performers being called back to the finale. But all in all, it was and is very nice to see a deserving talent or two use the show as a vehicle to achieve their own American dream. Terry Fator was a deserving winner, and I'm sure Cas Heley as well as Butterscotch will sign with record labels as the result of their appearances on the show.

wraith808 Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:56 AM EST

I watch it, and though I despise American Idol, I like this. The final acts were all talented, though I couldn't pick between Cas and Terry as to my favorite. I'd go see either of them! And Butterscotch was good also. I also liked a couple that didn't make the finals... but I have to watch it on DVR- too much filler.

PepperJo Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:33 AM EST

Normally I can't stand this show but a friend said I had to catch both the ventriliquist/impressions guy (Terry Fator) and Cas Heley. Have to say, loved them both. The ventriquilist (and I HATE ventriliquists!) was truly amazing. I totally get why he won. And Cas Helay, well yeah, I'd buy his CD easily. He's unique and is really, really talented.

mark in nyc Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:32 AM EST

I am always amazed that there is no quetion mark after the title of this show....it should really be, America's got talent?

nina Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:38 AM EST

Yes, this is a joke. I took it seriously at the audition rounds because the acts were actually good, but when the top 20 actually performed it was ridiculous. Everyone was either mediocre or not even that good. Even the frontrunner Beatbox, was kind of off the entire season, there was really one good guy and that was Cas Haley, but got beat out by that damn ventriloquist, now that was stupid.

Me Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:29 AM EST

This show is a joke. I sat through 15 minutes and felt uncomfortable. Has-beens hosting and judging, and less than stellar talent.
Reality TV is becoming desperate.

WTF Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 05:42 AM EST

I can't believe a ventriloquist won! What a joke! Please, America, that is just ridiculous!

jason Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 02:04 AM EST

i watch it, yes i do. the top 3 were VERY talented, but that was it. cas is a phenomenal performer, terry fader is a gifted guy, ventriloquist, singer and impressionist. he is talented. butterscotch is blake lewis, but SHE CAN SING!! she is uber-talented and a piano virtuoso. all 3 were great fun.

Marisol Ofelia Andrade-Maldando Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 11:22 PM EST

A show of genius perfomance all by known. Mr. Cas is my likeing of a sexy man, with round flesh. Once ago, singing drunk judge ate burger, kids laughed and took photo, but better now. Butter sings with rhytm and sound. Blonde girl pretty, sings, slutty. Kermat Frog wins, mades me joy glad. I will try this show out if on next year in a future season.

ADDictedtopopculture Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 10:39 PM EST

Cas and Terri (and the butterscotch beatbox girl) had real talent. The others in the competition had real cheese. I watched to see how the public defines "talent", and while I was disapointed Cas didn't win (as he is the only act I'd pay to see) Terri is obviously a gifted performer.

Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:41 PM EST

Was the Hoff's performance meant as a joke? Get thee to u-tube.

Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:38 PM EST

Terry Fator is really gifted and it's nice to see somebody with talent actually win a talent contest. I am from Los Angeles but am visiting my mother (82) in a suburb of Chicago for a few months. I realize now that the people who are responsible for entertainment have to realize not everybody thinks like they do on the Big Coasts. I also have had an opportunity to watch other relative's viewing patterns and listen to their thoughts on entertainment and politics. There's another world out there.

CONNIE JR Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:34 PM EST

SO WHO ONE? I MISSED IT

ADAM Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 09:07 PM EST

The final three contestants were all phenominal. The beatboxer was fantastic, the singer was a natural, and the winner was absolutely incredible.

wildecat Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 08:46 PM EST

My 10-year-old and 7-year-old are watching this right now. They BEGGED me to stay up and watch the finale. Since it's summer vacation, I said sure. But now that I've had to endure a truly horrendous vocal performance by "The Hoff" I'm really regretting it. So judging by the other responses here, I guess the answer to "who's watching this" is: a bunch of kids and their squirming moms.

keith Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 08:21 PM EST

I don't get this show at all. I can't watch it. Painfull. How is that they can't find ANY real talent? I could go to the grocery and audition better talent than this.

idigress Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 08:08 PM EST

My 7-year-old loves this show. She votes for the ventriloquist when I allow her the opportunity. I am pretty happy that this is the last evening for this show.

Pezhead Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 07:41 PM EST

Hey Snarf--thank you for your enlightened comment. Having seen the Glamazons perform on more than occasion in the New York City area, I can tell you that these four women are gifted entertainers--very funny and terrific singers. What's big about them is the size of their talent.

Al Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 07:29 PM EST

I watch because the young girl, Julienne (like the fries) is from a town next to mine. So you need to support the local girl. But actuallly, I'd like to see Terry Fator, the ventriloquist win. It's something to have on in the background while you surf the web.

whoohoo Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 06:01 PM EST

My six year old and nine year old kids are the ones watching this show. (With my slightly addled, but cute, husband.) They think it's hysterical. And, Annie, how did you know I head upstairs & read? I have to get far away from the TV; I can't even stand the sound of that show.

reality tv sucks Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 05:36 PM EST

i watched the first season, & the only reason i watched it was because of a siberian cross-dresser named leoned... & watching him cry each time the judges berated him for being stupid...

Jenn Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 05:34 PM EST

I just want to see Fator win. He's the reason I tuned in.

mike Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 05:29 PM EST

Reality TV bad.

Snarf Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 05:17 PM EST

What exactly are these ladies talent (aside from apparently stampeding the dessert table at all you can eat restaurants?)
