Brian Bloom IS an '80s dreamboat, thank you

Bbloom_l There's a picture book coming out in October called God's Gift: Over 100 Studs, Stallions, and Dreamboats fom the 70s and 80s — and it does not include As the World Turns' Brian Bloom. That's just wrong.

Granted, I myself hadn't thought about Bloom and his searing eyes for more than a decade until yesterday — when I was IMDBing Who's the Boss?, saw the name Scott Bloom and thought it was him — but still. This book says it's full of pictures Hollywood studs and stallions "don't want you to see," and I'm confident that Brian Bloom would not want you looking at this or this. (And note to whoever's Flickr page those are from: Steve Guttenberg? Really?)

Yeah, okay, so Bloom's hair in the photo at left is a little, er, controversial, but look into those eyes and tell me he doesn't deserve a page in God's Gift. And while you're at it, who are your essential '70s and '80s dreamboats?

Okay seriously, what supermarket because I am not above stalking the beautiful boy. J/K.

I too have been in love with Brian since the old soap days and am in the process of trying to collect all the Bandit movies.

If anyone knows where he is please share :-)

Jan
What supermarket were you at?

Jan Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 03:45 AM EST

Brian Bloom is by far one of the most beautiful men I have EVER seen. Stood right behind him while in line at a supermarket(the line was long thank heavens) - he is stunning in person. Nice guy too, smiled and nodded. I almost past out.

Polly Wed, Jun 11, 2008 at 04:53 AM EST

I am totally shocked that those gorgeous, gorgeous eyes didn't make the cut.He is definately a favourite of mine and dont forget Jon Erik Hexum YUM,YUM!!And I would also have to add C Thomas Howell,Scott Baio,Luke Perryand don't forget John Stamos (still looks GOOD!!).

Agnes Sat, Apr 12, 2008 at 01:48 PM EST

Brian Bloom is the most sexy man I've Ever seen! And also very good actor I really big fan of him.

shevon Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 07:03 PM EST

That is a damn shame Brian Bloom is the most sexiest man alive period. Who ever made this so called book and didn't list him is on crack.

Sat, Oct 6, 2007 at 02:03 AM EST

in the shower shots in OZ he looks great the best looking ass I've ever seen!

JDB Sun, Sep 2, 2007 at 08:32 PM EST

Hey Gals--
As the one guy on this, I love his hairy feet and chest, but I digress. Don't mean to gross you out ladies, but the boys had a crush on him too! And he is NAKED on an episode of OZ, where he blows the equally hot Christopher Meloni, who breaks Brian's neck during the blowjob.

How rude. Couldn't have he just fellated Brian, or done something naughtier? Don't kill during pleasure!

Love,
jonny

He will always be my Brian Bloom! He is a really talented actor, I just an independent film, Terminal. He was great but he played a real a-hole! He really needs more airtime. Is it true he had a bad accident while filming bandit in the late 90's.

To Julia M Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 01:41 PM EST

LMAO!! I was thinking the same thing.

Julia M Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 12:55 PM EST

I seriously hope that Bloom's feet were just dirty in that second picture of him, because my god - that's a hairy beast. I think if I was with him and he unleashed those bad boys, even in the heat of passion, I'd have to leave the room. Yikes!

Silv Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 10:37 AM EST

Shaun Cassidy, Jon-Erik Hexum, Patrick Swayze, Don Johnson, George Michael (before I knew he was gay), the guys from Duran Duran, Jeff Sholar, oh, wait, he wasn't a celebrity, just a real life hunk I loved to watch. . .

dwight Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 10:17 AM EST

I had forgotten about him until his stint on Oz as one of Keller's (Chris Meloni) former lovers who wound up in jail with him. Hot! Bloom's character was unfortunately killed when he had his neck snapped by Keller while performing oral sex on the psychopath. It was fun while it lasted though. He's beefier now (Hot!) but those eyes can still look right through me.

kats Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 08:08 AM EST

Ah yes, Brian Bloom. The original Dusty on ATWT. Always thought he was hot and his eyes were amazing! I never did fall for most of the Teen Beat guys. No Scott Baio, Ralph Macchio or Matt Dillon for me thanks. But that doesn't mean I didn't fall for some. My personal list would include:

John Taylor of Duran Duran. Hottest. Bassist. Ever!

Simon LeBon also of Duran Duran. Frost-tipped locks and all.

Rick(y) Schroeder. He's either a couple of days older or younger than me. I can never recall which.

Don Johnson. I actually wrote a forward-looking high school paper wherein we were married. Ugh! How embarrassing!

Tom Cruise. Oh how I shudder at the thought of him these days. But back in the 80's he was Maverick, not Mr. Insanity.

J Wed, Aug 22, 2007 at 07:06 AM EST

Ok, so the blue eyes are awesome. But I heard that he's a jackhole. D@mn, he's hairy! My 80's crush: C. Thomas Howell. Ponyboy forever!

shana Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 06:31 PM EST

For me it was all about Zack on Saved By the Bell Mark Paul Gossaler. I never watched him on NYPD Blue though. I liked him young and blonde, not grown up and brunette. I also loved Kiefer Sutherland in Lost Boys, Kirk Cameron before he turned Evangelical Christian-guy, Alex Winter from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and I think Scott Baio deserves a spot. Especially with his awesome new reality show.

Snarf Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 05:14 PM EST

Behold the mullett! Hairstyle of the gods!!

Kristen Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 04:58 PM EST

YES! Brian Bloom gets some love. He was one of my favorite parts of ATWT back in the day. He's in Smoking Aces?? That just moved to the top of my "must see" queue...

jenjen Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:45 PM EST

Those blue eyes.........have mercy!

Leandra Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:44 PM EST

Well, that Flikr page seems to be devoted to "hairy actors" so perhaps that's why Steve Gutenberg.

As for my '80s hunk -- Jon Eric Hexum (or some such spelling) until he put a loaded prop gun to his head as a joke and accidentally killed himself. I was devastated! Oh, and as someone said, ALL The Outsiders guys. Dreamy!

idigress Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:41 PM EST

I loved Brian Bloom on "As The World Turns" - I always thought that Dusty and Lily should be together...anyway! My 80s crush was most definitely Mr. C. Thomas Howell! Loved him - even in Grandview USA!

LisaMama Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:33 PM EST

- Sean Cassidy, rocking the feathered hair.
- John Travolta in Welcome Back Kotter and Grease, he could sing and dance!
- Pierce Brosnan in Remington Steele, who made uptight con artists look good.
- John Ritter in Three's Company, because everyone loves a cute clown.
- Bruce Willis in Moonlighting, because he rocked Maddie's world.

Seanti Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:26 PM EST

I'd take the Guttenberg over Brian Bloom any day of the week.

Becca Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:16 PM EST

being born in the 90s, i never really had a thing for the 70s & 80s guys... although i do enjoy me a good 80s cheesy movie :) lol... but im not really sure this guy is "god's gift" worthy... he looks kind of like a cross of john stamos from his full house days & emilio estevez when he was in the breakfast club

Auriana Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

Richard Dean Anderson ::sigh::

Kathleen Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 03:01 PM EST

As a preteen I was always partial to C Thomas Howell and - I can't believe I'm putting this in writing - Andy Gibb. But once puberty hit - it was all about The Lost Boys. Especially Alex Winter (even with that HORRIBLE mullet weave) and Billy Wirth. Nummy.

Andie Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:58 PM EST

I loved Dance 'Til Dawn. That needs to be on DVD. Also, in regards to the topic, I'm surprised Brian Bloom didn't make the cut.

GingerCat Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:58 PM EST

Wow, I had no idea Brian Bloom was still working. Good for him. I just checked imdb.com and he was indeed in "Smokin' Aces."

K Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:57 PM EST

Pretty much the entire cast of "The Outsiders." How much prettier can a cast get? Seriously.

Emily Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:51 PM EST

Eventgal, that movie is "Dance 'Til Dawn." I think I still have it on tape.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094941/

Dina Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:44 PM EST

If I'm not mistaken, he recently made an appearance in "Drive" as the race employee chasing down Nathan Fillion's partner.

Dawm Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:43 PM EST

eventgal, that would be "Dance til Dawn"...and yes, it literally had every single 80's teen star EVER in it. Christina Applegate, Tempest Bledsoe, Matthew Perry, Alyssa Milano, Chris Young...and even adults like Kelsey Grammer and Alan Thicke! Scary how much I know about this movie? Yes. Scarier? Bought the VHS on eBay a couple of years ago cuz I just needed to see it one more time.

Back on topic: my 80's huge-ass crushes: Ralph Macchio and Fred Savage

Elizabeth Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:25 PM EST

I just saw a Cold Case episode with Brian Bloom in it. I thought he was fantastic.

LuLu Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:23 PM EST

That is just a shame. How can a list of 70's and 80's hotties, leave off Brian Bloom? Come on!

JWP Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:23 PM EST

Does anyone remember his guest stint on Oz? He and Chris Meloni shared a bares all shower scene and then made out in another scene. Trust me, he was still hot!!

Megmamegmeg Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:18 PM EST

Brian Bloom has the nicest eyes known to man.... and am i taking crazy pills or was he just in Smokin Aces?

Stephanie T. Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 02:07 PM EST

When I was a kid I somehow got Brian Bloom confused with Bryan Scott from Kidd Video. Wasn't Bloom also on Neon Knight Rider?

eventgal Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 01:53 PM EST

My favorite Brian Bloom appearance would have to be in that ultimate 80s made for TV movie about the Prom - I can't remember the name, but it had literally every teenage actor on television from Tracey Gold to Matthew Perry.

Kate Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 01:34 PM EST

I remember reading about him (and I think his brother Scott) in YM or Seventeen or something like that. I was about 12 and thought his eyes were almost inhuman...in a good way of course.

GingerCat Tue, Aug 21, 2007 at 01:32 PM EST

I was a big fan of Brian Bloom back in the day. He even did an appearance at a mall near me, which my sisters and I attended. He was dreamy. Then years later he turned up on Melrose Place (I think), and . . . oy. The years had not been kind.
