How should 'CSI: Miami' resurrect Det. Speedle?

Categories: Television

Rory_l CSI: Miami is already the most ridiculous show on TV (that's not officially labeled as a sitcom, anyway), so the news that the show's producers are bringing Rory Cochrane's Det. Tim Speedle back from the dead (after three years!) doesn't strike me as remotely out of the ordinary. (In the interest of full disclosure, I stopped watching the show back in '06, after David Caruso's Horatio went all vigilante on a trip to Rio de Janeiro, a city which the series would have us believe has no law-enforcement officers of its own.)

Anyhow, now the question becomes, just how exactly will Speedle get resurrected? I'd suggest the writers have Horatio visit Speedle's grave at sunset, wave his magical sunglasses over the tombstone, and grin knowingly as the undead chap emerges from the ground. Then Caruso could somberly deliver a carefully crafted classic zinger like, "The sun may be setting, but you, son, are back on the rise." Cue opening credits. "Yaaaaahhhrrggghhh!"

I didn't give a rat's ass how they brought my Speedle back, he was back for an episode and that was fine by me. And if you hate the show that much then why watch, let alone comment......

p.p.s. And sorry about the spelling mistakes - english is not my native language, only third :)))

i guess we all saw how they "resurrected" Speedle, and hopefully saw did the author of the article :))

Yeah, "H" is often irritating with his "cool phrases" sometimes, I admit, but.. still, Michael, don't you think you're a bit too cruel? :)

p.s. oh, and by the way, if you think you know more about the life in Rio, than the CSI:Miami makers, I'd advice you to read a few articles or make a little research about the city. Believe me, there ARE parts in Rio which are impossible to be controlled by Brazilian law inforcemnt officers - unfrotunately.

They can't say Speedle faked his own death because they already did that with Horatio's brother.

Bootsty, nah. Passions has the "My stolen son is a hermaphrodite" thing going on. I read that in the TV Guide and I was rolling on the floor! Passions went from Dark Shadows to Scooby Doo within 5 years. lol.

My Mom started laughing about this Speedle thing. This is going to be stupid unless again he was an adopted twin seperated at birth, but both families who adopted the twins both had the last name "Speedle" but were not related (or just distant cousins), both named their sons "Tim", and both sons who never knew that they had a twin brother wound up both becoming CSI agents just in different cities, and the new Speedle just transfered to Miami. Stranger things have happened.

I agree. Speedle is probably going to be a friendly ghost in the style of Harry Potter's friend Moaning Myrtle!

Slezak, you left out the pregnant pause: "The sun may be setting, but you, son,

are back on the rise." YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hahahaha i love the opening scream. it's my favorite part of the show, aside from Cochrane. So, I was pissed when he died. I don't know how they're going to bring him back, but it better not be something lame like a flashblack or a near death hallucination or a twin or...vampirism. please. god. redeem yourselves.

Of course he didn't have a TWIN. that's been done. Obviously his brain was stored, and is going to be replanted onto the DELKO'S BODY, becasue his brain is still damaged that head injury... TWO CSI BRAINS, one STUDLY BODY. but when the hispanic kid looks at himself in the mirror he sees, a pasty white man.

Certainly this idea of returning the Speedle character to the series does go way above and beyond far fetched,because...IF..I remember correctly his dead body was laid out on a table in the autopsy room in the episode that "killed him"

That's funny because the episode in Brazil was the last CSI:Miami that I watched too. Which is too bad because I really like some of the actors on this show.

Stephanie Travitsky, you sound like a soap opera veteran, like me. The same idea popped into my head. Speedle's twin comes to Miami, looking to avenge the death of the brother he never knew he had. What is this, Passions?

Stephanie T. Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 05:48 PM EST

Oh this is silly. He got shot when the gun backfired. They can't bring Speedle back from beyond the grave.

Stephanie Travitsky Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 05:43 PM EST

a)Speedle has a twin that he did not know he had (nor did anyone else...) and they were seperated at birth because they were a product of a teenage pregnancy and one couple of adoptive parents wanted one child so the agency gave the second to another couple. b) The teenage girl made a deal with two couples to give them a child each. c) Surragate parent for two couples.

It is about time that prime time drama writers use their brains. BTW: The Bobby Ewing "the whole past season was a dream" idea is not going to work this time.

Steph Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 05:29 PM EST

Speedle had a twin!

A. Campbell Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 04:43 PM EST

They can do like they did with that DA on L&O and tell us that his death was faked in order to protect him.

Simon Wed, Jul 25, 2007 at 04:40 PM EST

Oh no, say it ain't so. Does this mean that they are getting rid of Mr. Wolf? Please do not bring Speedle back. Love the current cast - please don't change it!
