I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

GingerCat, I think that it's that she's had too much surgery. Her as narrator would be a great idea, but speaking for the straight guys who watch DH (I think there are a couple of us), having Nicolette as a disembodied voice removes some of the best things about her. Just watch; she's not gonna be dead.

I think a better idea would be to ditch the narration entirely. Pointing out the theme of the episode is getting more than a little tired, and we can get the last minute shocking revelation without it. Sorry Brenda; loved ya on Seinfeld, loved ya on Sports Night, but I think they've gotta let ya go.

Oh and I REALLY hate it when Mary Alice says..."Yessss..." OH MY GOD, she says it about 40,000 times per episode and my skin crawls every time. DOUBLE UGH.

I hate and I do mean HATE the narration by Mary Alice. I thought it was great to have Rex narrate one episode, noting that how messed up his kids were made him feel better about being dead. Hilarious! I think having Edie as the permanent narrator would be a very wise move. No more lectures! Seriously, where does a woman who bought a baby, stabbed its birth mother and then shot herself get off preaching to us??? UGH.

I like the idea but at the same time I'd miss Mary Alice. Not really because I enjoyed them, but because it was the most fun part of the show to say "Yeeesss...." right as the final montage came on. You'd find yourself on cue about 90% of the time.

I heard that Edie is not gone and that someone saves her in the first episdoe of the season. Besides, is Marc Cherry really going to pull a "Six Feet Under" and have all of his characters eventually die off the show?

I thought the same thing when she did herself in - she would be the perfect change for the show as narrator and I love her voice too!!

Edie for disembodied voice! Why all the disses about Nicolette's appearance? Plastic surgery or not, a woman's face changes as she ages and becomes more angular, much like hers has. If anything, I think she's actually showing her age face-wise, but clearly she still works out. Let's see what all you couch hags look like at her age...it's no wonder everyone is Botox Happy--tough room/world.

That face! I can't tell if she needs plastic surgery or has already had too much of it. I suspect it's the latter.
Sorry, I know that was mean, but I get tired of all these actresses looking abnormal once they hit their 40s.

Sorry folks, but I actually like Mary Alice's narration. And I think her reasoned, "sing-songy" voice adds a nice balance to some of the hysterics (male and female) that occur in each episode. Finally, Mary Alice actually cares about these women, which might explain her presence (albeit spiritually) in their lives. Do you honestly think Edie would stick around people she loathed? [That said, it might be enjoyable if both Edie and Mary Alice formed a Greek chorus of sorts every episode...]

I still think Edie needs to be alive for my ultimate un-jumping of this show to take place. Gabby kills her abusive new husband (who does show signs ...) and all the women help to cover it up. Edie turns on them to save her own hide in belief that they are gonna rot in jail and each chick gets to take the stand, act their butt-off, and give an account of that faithful night with Gabby going all Lana Turner at the end to clear herself and her friends! Now that is excellent and can take up an entire season worth of hot trash!! No need to thank me, Mr. Cherry.

Loved this show in the first season...I thought Mary Alice narrorating was an amazing idea. Then they solved everything with her at the end of the season...so suprise to me when she was STILL narrorating the second season! What was she even doing there?!

Edie is not dead. The person that hanged herself was Danielle, Bree's daughter. And Gloria Hodge is not dead, either. She had a stroke & was unable to speak, so Orson stuck in a home.

Actually I think it would not have been a bad idea to have one of each season's bumped off characters narrate the next season. We could have heard from Bree's late husband, or her creepy pharmacist "fiancee", for example. This works because in fictional land - all neighbors (and their spouses, dates, etc.) always know one another. Even Orson Hodge's mother, Dixie Carter, would have provided an entertaining slant on the goings on in Wisteria Lane!

My guess is that she'll be the narrator for the premiere but will be resuscitated by the end of the next episode. She'll just be dead for a bit until they save her.

Losing Edie as a living character would be a shame. She is currently the only "evil" character on the show. All the women have their flaws but Edie is the only one that ever acts on her thoughts of revenge. Taking her out of the loop would be wrong.

Cece, Slezak, you are both on a roll today! First with the high-larious review of " I know who killed me" and now this gem of an idea. Love it!

Narration from a woman who was disliked by most of the characters in some way or another would make for great writing, esp if the first episode was all the characters at Edie's funeral.

Agreed that she's much better as an ice princess than as a heart having softee. IMHO, no need for schoolin' here, Slezak is right!

This would be brilliant. Mary Alice has been irrelevant for 2 seasons. At least a when Eddie becomes less important to the plot she won't be so sing-songy.

HELLOOOOOO!!!!!!! I made this point months ago on Popwatch after the finale. There were questions what Edie's role would be on the show and I guessed that she would be the new narrator. Can I get my props, please? Thanks

If Edie is indeed dead (which I personally think she is), I think this is pretty much the only way to go.

When Mike got hit by a car at the end of Season 2 and his return was in doubt, I thought he might be the new dead narrator, but Edie would be 50 times more interesting. The only downside is that we wouldn't see her interacting with the characters directly anymore, but then again, it seems like her character has run its course. They tried to deepen her character by making her more of a softie, but I didn't really care for it too much.

Either way, Mary Alice has to go. Not only is the sing songy soothing voice irritating, but her character now has little to no connection to anyone outside of the four leads. Edie at least knows some of the newer people and it'd make for more interesting narration.
