To Care or Not to Care: Spice Girls and 'According to Jim' live again!

Jun 28, 2007, 11:39 AM | by Mandi Bierly

Categories: Music, Television, To Care or Not to Care

Today, it's official: The Spice Girls are reuniting for a world tour (11 dates have been announced, starting Dec. 7 in L.A.), and as you'll see in the eight-minute video below, no one is more excited about it than... the Spice Girls! Let's hear from Baby: "The big news is we're going on tour! Global! Very exciting! A little bit scary! But I can't wait!"

The five women look fabulous — especially Ginger (still my fave), who claims the fans really brought the Girls back together: "You could almost feel the energy, and the want, and the need for it." (She also takes some credit herself. After spending time with a few of the Girls, she woke up the next morning and, "I was lying in my bed, and I went, 'I want to be a Spice Girl!' And then I went, 'Ohmygod, I am a Spice Girl!' I quickly rang Emma, and I went, 'I want to be a Spice Girl! And she's like, 'Me, too!') The tour, and a greatest hits album, will be overseen by the Spice Girls' original mastermind, Simon Fuller (American Idol).

So tell us: Will you be there for the Spice Girls, or did you stop feeling the Girl Power long ago?

After the jump, we tackle the day's other big announcement...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has just ordered 18 more episodes of the According to Jim! We here at PopWatch don't recall hearing about any Jericho-magnitude campaigns to save the show after it was booted from the fall schedule and presumed canceled back in May — and we sit firmly in the "Not to Care" camp. Still, should someone post a genuine, passionate defense of the series below, I promise to give it a chance when it returns to the schedule. I was, after all, wrong about Reba

mel Mon, Oct 1, 2007 at 12:07 PM EST

Victoria looks like a total biotch, can't believe the others would want to work with her again :) LOVE According to Jim.

Marissanne L_T Fri, Jul 27, 2007 at 10:19 AM EST

i think it's great that they are back together

Quinn Wed, Jul 4, 2007 at 03:57 PM EST

I'm THRILLED that they're getting back together. Their music is better than the crap on the abysmal pop landscape today - Hannah Montana and the Pussycat Dolls? Ugh. Little girls today need some zig-a-zig-ah in their lives and I'm thrilled that this young, new generation is going to get to experience all the Spice Mania.

Carrie Wed, Jul 4, 2007 at 12:29 AM EST

The spice girls are great can't wait to see them... I never gave up on them, glad to see them them back. I want to go to a concert sooo bad.

Kris Mon, Jul 2, 2007 at 12:47 AM EST

Both the Spice Girls and According to Jim should be put out of their misery, along with 2 and 1/2 Men.

Claire Sun, Jul 1, 2007 at 10:39 PM EST

I will never understand the eliteness some feel simply because they enjoy one brand of humor over another! I'll freely fess up; I've enjoyed a giggle or two over According to Jim. I'm originally from OK, so that might explain my supposed lack of cultural awareness. I also laugh at The Office every Thursday, and I turned my back on Friends way back in the second season. I could detail the continents I've visited, the art I enjoy, and the hoity-toity music to which I listen, but my present location in *gasp* Texas will probably negate all my bragging.

Andrew Sun, Jul 1, 2007 at 06:55 PM EST

HECK YA WE CARE! THE SPICE GIRLS ARE ONE OF THE PRIME EXAMPLES OF THE "BOY BAND" ERA, WHICH I AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS GREW UP IN. I WOULD GO IF I COULD GET TICKETS!

Sun, Jul 1, 2007 at 04:20 AM EST

Virgin Records is desperate.
I know they are missing Janet Jackson

Dan Reynolds Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 07:11 PM EST

No, we don't care!!

Dan Reynolds Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 07:11 PM EST

No, we don't care!!

furry_tom Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 05:05 PM EST

RE: (They) will take you where you gotta go/Smiling, dancing, everything is free
Unless you want to see them in concert, then you'll have to pay out the nose.

tom Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 04:40 PM EST

this is the year of the reunion and they're all selling well. this one will do just fine also.

liz Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 06:52 AM EST

I enjoyed listening to the Spice Girls then and will gladly listen to the Spice Women when they hit the airwaves again. Their music may have been over-produce, but then who isn't these days? It was catchy, had a good beat and was very easy on my ears.

Completely Off-Topic, Sorry! Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 12:47 AM EST

To Amber F: Yes, it does help! Uber creepy. I know the series ended, so I hope it ended with them catching the sicko creep.

Mike - I really do enjoy the episodes I catch every now and then (although perhaps not this one quite as much - again, too creepy!), I should definitely check out the DVD box set!

Back on topic - I am actually one of the rare ones who enjoys According to Jim as mindless and fun entertainment. Kinda like the Spice Girls! I was a MAJOR fan when they first emerged, got P.O'ed when tickets to their concert were sold out in 15 minutes and I couldn't go, and weeped when Ginger left and ruined the dynamic of the group. Like others have said, they weren't the best singers or dancers, but they were great entertainers and their songs are friggin' catchy!

Alan Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 12:15 AM EST

oops, I meant "their," not "they're"

Alan Sat, Jun 30, 2007 at 12:14 AM EST

Do they seriously think that they're fans, most of whom are now in their 20s, are going to shell out the dough for this reunion? Even those that are now in their teens have probably forgotten who the Spice Girls are!

Melissa Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 07:27 PM EST

Its nice to see the spice Girls Back Together since the 90s.Theyre a fun group to see.To sing along.

Indianafan Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 06:49 PM EST

I am very excited about the Spice Girls getting back together. It would be great to hear them on the radio again. I will not be able to see them in concert unless they come to Chicago, but I will be waiting in line purchasing their greatest hits collection.

Serg Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 04:18 PM EST

Spice Girls? Why not?!!!
When you're feeling sad and low
(They) will take you where you gotta go
Smiling, dancing, everything is free
All you need is positivity

Colours of the world
Spice up your life!
Every boy and every girl
Spice up your life!
People of the world
Spice up your life!
Aaahh!!!

Slam it to the left
If you're having a good time!

It's gonna be awesome. ;)

According to Jim... ehh.

krys Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 03:24 PM EST

OMG, the spice girls are coming back. I still know the words to half of their songs and still have the videos and barbie dolls. I wounder if they are still s good as I remeber but then again anything at age seven sounded good.

Tim Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 02:26 PM EST

Didn't care then. Care less now. Talentless, lipsynching robots. Big deal.

Katelynd Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 02:22 PM EST

Girl power died off with another thing: platform shoes.

LisaMama Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 02:01 PM EST

The Spice Girls seems so innocent compared to today's pop starlets. More power to them.
P.S. Hutchy, I'm now ignoring your comments.

Michael K Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 01:36 PM EST

Hell yes I'm excited! I signed up for tix yesterday and I'm getting my Ginger Spice tattoo doctored up so it looks fresh and ready! Recent girl groups have no idea how it's really done: loud, proud and fun!

Rhonda Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 01:05 PM EST

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? of course i am excited. i have been waiting for the reunion since the breakup! and im already signed up on thespicegirls.com! beat that, suckers!

Mrs. BooBoo Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 12:54 PM EST

I am from Chicago and live in Greenwich, CT and loathe According to Jim.

jones Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 12:16 PM EST

Hutchy's Midwest bashing stinks. I'm a lifelong Midwesterner and despise According to Jim, but loved Arrested Development and Firefly. I'm with Fatima....people with bad taste live all over the country and blanket generalizations are lame.

Stephanie Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 11:04 AM EST

I can't even lie - I am beyond excited for the Spice Girls reunion. My best friend and I each signed up in every city - oh to be 14 again!

ismael Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 11:02 AM EST

i for one can't wait and have signed up for their tix....finally a chance to see Geri (my fave) perform with the girls!!!

Cassie Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 10:37 AM EST

Hmm...I pretty much can't stand Midwestern bashing. I guess I'm one of the "enlightened" Midwesterners because I watch Arrested Development and Freaks and Geeks and shun shows like According to Jim. Maybe Boston does have more culture, but there's betters things about places like Omaha than just the steaks (although they are amazing). I've grown up in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa my whole life and I just can't stand it when people from the coasts say that we're stupid or less refined. Just because the middle part of the country doesn't vote democrat doesn't mean that they should be stereotyped or criticized. We have so many qualities that make us great. Yes, someday I'd like to move to a place like Boston, but I'll never be a snob toward the Midwest because the Midwest is filled with fun and warm people. Now, if I could just stop my brother from raving about King of Queens!

Arthur Koch Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 09:46 AM EST

Yay, I'm glad you all get the Spice Girls back. I liked some of their stuff and can't deny their place in pop history. However, I think the Smashing Pumpkins coming back is an even bigger reunion of a 90's group...

DR Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 09:43 AM EST

YEs, I own their CDs, and yes, I was a fan. Am I uber-excted over a reunion, not so much. I'm 10 years older now. Will I check out a greatest hits album, sure. It was fun, it didn't take itself seriously, and hey, 20 million albums sold means 19,999,999 folks agreed with me ;)

Ep Sato Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 09:27 AM EST

Circa 1996, I remember listening to the Spice Girls 'wanna be" in a club in Madrid. The kids went wild in there! The next summer I was working as a manager at a Gadzooks, and the videos we showed had "I'll be there". Even as the alt rocky/ska fan I was then it was hard to deny how catchy and fun the Spice Girls were.

And the movie was in the realm of so bad it was good, with Roger Moore! I probably won't go see them, but look forward to more songs by this crew. Agreed with those who said the Copycat Dolls are sad immitators.

Kat Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 09:14 AM EST

I signed up for tickets and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

No Brand Woman Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 09:10 AM EST

There was a period of time in my life during my freshman year of high school that I liked the Spice Girls. I was one who abandonded them when they were dubbed to be lame, but seeing them in that video and all the enthusiasm they have about this has made me really reminiscent. I remember dancing to their songs in front of the mirror. Reminds me of how much fun it was to be that young. I never owned the CDs myself, but I had them on loan from a friend. I can't say I want to go to one of their concerts, but I almost kinda sorta want to buy their CDs.
As for According to Jim, I really wish they would kill it. The very tiny bit of it I've seen of it has proven it's not worth the air time. Please, please put this show out of its misery.

NineDaves Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 08:51 AM EST

um... i won't pretend that i haven't signed up for tickets a few times now.

RayT Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 07:45 AM EST

Can I just remind everyone of Chris Rock's comments at the 1997 MTV VMAs? "The Spice Girls have like, 20 million records sold: I can't find one person that will admit to buying one! The Spice Girls are kinda like heroin. Everybody's doing it, but NOBODY wants to admit it!"

Yep, it's time for us all to 'fess up! I'll see everyone in line for those tickets! Don't be ashamed!

Amber F Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 07:02 AM EST

To Completely...-
When Veronica was attacked is was by a serial rapist on campus who left his victims bald after drugging and raping them. So her hair being gone was significant because it showed her and Logan (her then BF) that the rapist had targeted her. Hope this helps!

donjuan Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 06:07 AM EST

Poor Poor scary spice, someone FIRE!! her S
"Stylist" or "Hairdresser" (Quotes indicate Much Sarcasm!) her Weave looks more synthetic and Cheaper that Foxy Brown's!!!! :(

and her an Posh!! So Surgically enhanced. They look like typical British holiday trash! that vacations in Ibiza in July or August. From Madrid here:)

mike Fri, Jun 29, 2007 at 01:52 AM EST

The fact that according to jim still gets episodes and Veronica Mars was cancelled sucks. How many stupid people live in this country.
Completely off--You've stumbled on to a great show buy or rent the first two seasons. You will not be sorry.

Completely Off-Topic, Sorry! Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 09:45 PM EST

I'm sooooo sorry to do this, but I know I can always find Veronica Mars watchers here!

I didn't follow the show that closely, but I enjoyed the few episodes I saw here and there. I saw a rerun on Tuesday, when VM was drugged. She hit her car's panic button, her bf was alerted, and she was (presumably) saved (yay!). But what was the significance of her hair falling out? Because I don't know much about the show, I am not sure if it meant something, or if the attempted attacker just hit her on the head or what. I am so sorry for not sticking to the topic, but I am sure people will understand that it is for a good cause!

Brainiac Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 09:41 PM EST

Reba rocks!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, I'm a big Reba McEntire fan - and the show was really, really good! I feel so happy when it's mentioned, even though it was probably sarcastic.)

N Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 09:17 PM EST

Yay! Finally after years of false hope, this rumour is finally true.....Will definitely try to get tickets to watch them in Sydney....Although by the sounds of it, they are having a lottery to pick out who gets to buy tickets.....www.spicegirls.com

Jason Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 08:56 PM EST

Ah, the Spice Girls. Yep, I'll be there (I just said I would!) Makes me long for the 90s, when I was happy and there was hope. Then the millenium happened, I freaked out and the Spice Girls left. :-(

furry_tom Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 08:22 PM EST

I just found a Daily Show interview with the Spice Girls on Fark. It gets kind of tense at the end when they tell him they don't think he's funny.

BrandonK Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 06:28 PM EST

I love the Spice Girls. I'll totally try to go to one of their shows, although I'm sure the prices will be crazy and with only 11 dates worldwide, the chances are I won't be seeing them. I wonder how this will work, though, them going from a novelty act to a nostalgia act...
It's good to see some of them (Victoria) doing something besides be famous.

furry_tom Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 05:30 PM EST

No pop culture in Omaha? Haven't you heard of the Saddle Creek record label? Bright Eyes, The Faint, Desaparecidos (Oberst's other band, better than Bright Eyes IMHO), Cursive, etc. I don't know if you should blame the area just because you never left your house.

Jen Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 05:24 PM EST

I am excited about the Spice Girls getting back together! I loved them when they were first popular (I was in middle school), and now I just enjoy them for their catchy, campy music and outrageous, silly fashion. I hope they add some dates and come to the midwest - I would love to see them!

Hutchy Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 05:21 PM EST

Oh, and in the interest of being fair and balanced, I'll give props where they are due: Omaha has the best steaks I've ever had, bar none, they are the bomb yo!!! Ruined me on Outback for life, literally. So see? Its not ALL doom and gloom, your taste in beef is impeccable. Pop culture......ermmmmm not so much.

Hutchy Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 05:17 PM EST

Ahhh, nothing like a little Midwest-bashing to get the great unwashed all riled up, which of course is half the reason I said it. Obviously, anyone reading EW.com probably has enough taste to know a good show when they see it, so if you got lumped to the "Midwest stereotype", then.........(shrugs). However, it is what it is, SOMEONE is watching "According To Jim" and its certainly not anyone I know. Just like no one I know actually likes Nickelback, or earlier this decade Creed, but SOMEONE bought all those albums. So please, can we drop this ridiculous pose like Omaha and Boston are somehow on the same cultural wavelength? I lived in Omaha for 2 years and have family in Boston, so I assure you, I know from whence I speak. If you actually have some taste and have the misfortune to live in the land of Toby Keith, you have my heartfelt sincere apologies, all sarcasm aside, that must be like the 7th circle of Hell.....but it is what it is, peeps.

to hutchy Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 04:43 PM EST

I am a midwesterner who has NEVER watched "Jim," but did watch "Freaks and Geeks," and "Arrested Development." It sucked when those shows were cancelled, so don't lump us all together.

jason Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 04:32 PM EST

i'm hoping if the tour and hits album are big hits, they'll tour all over the country. i would LOVE to see them again. "say you'll be there" and "wannabe" are classics in my book. well pop classics anyway. i'm excited!!

Christina Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 04:26 PM EST

Love that the Spice Girls are back. They were huge when I was a teen so it's like a trip down memory lane for me

scott Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:46 PM EST

i'm pretty indifferent about the spice girls, i mean does every single broken up band/group have to get back together? (is phish next??)

as for 'according to jim', am i the only one who feels this spells doom for the sure to be painfully unfunny 'caveman'? I've heard rumors that it may be canceled before it even gets to air and this announcement could validate those rumors.

T Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:41 PM EST

To Ep Sato, I loved it, too! It was my first real TV job, and the experience was priceless.

And despite the fact that, as an alternative-rock-listening 15-year-old (the first time around), I couldn't stand the Spice Girls, I'm actually glad to see them come back.

Patti Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:40 PM EST

Wow - if Posh acted half this normal instead of doing all that posing people might not think she had a big giant stick so far up her bottom. A smile makes all the difference.

peach Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:27 PM EST

I kinda love the Spice Girls news! The world is a f-ed up, depressing ass place so maybe a little spice is just what we need!

Eric Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

Hutchy, I live in Des Moines,IA and loathe According to Jim. But, thank you for your stereotyping. I'd love to hear your opinions about minorities. And if you are a law enforcement official, let the racial profiling begin.

Fatima Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:04 PM EST

Add me to the ever growing list of Midwesterners who are mad at Hutchy's generalizing comment. My Minneapolis might have a better rep than Iowa, but it is still very, very close. Note to you: There are people with good and bad taste everywhere in this country and world. It is not town specific. Geez!

But the Spice Girls! I will get that greatest hits album for sure. And I love that the reunion tour will be mainly all college age people, because we were at the exact right age for all the mania. What would my elementary school years have been like without a little spice? I don't wanna think about it. This is the best nostalgia wave in recent memory.

Lauren Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 03:02 PM EST

Girl Power!!! So great to see these ladies again :)

Sarah Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:48 PM EST

Wow! When Posh smiles she actually looks nice. Why can't she do that in one of the millions of photos she's in? By the way, According to Jim may be lame, but lay-off the midwest! I know, I know, you have to live on a coast to be smart or sophisticated, but sometimes it seems like east and west coasters are often far more shallow and materialistic. I know which I would rather be.

Ellipsian Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:44 PM EST

I'm a bit taken aback by all of the Spice Girls love...but by all means, count me in! Discounting "Forever" almost entirely, they had a couple of very solid pop albums, and I'm all about backing the "Girl Power". Welcome back, ladies! Make us proud, 'kay?

Ep Sato Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:36 PM EST

Ceballos and Huchy make a good point. While I'm originally a midwesterner and agree we sometimes get all lumped into a "meat and potatoes plus crappy tv diet" stereotype, I understand the point. Someone's watching "jim" and a whole lot of people passed on the better written "Knights of Prosperity", which featured Sofia Vergarra and my main man Donal Logue. How could have that show gotten so dissed? it was freaking hilarious!

And T, you worked on AD? I loved that show man!

Tim Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:35 PM EST

That's right, Mandi: bash Jericho. And watch the hate mail come.

Gavin Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:33 PM EST

I loved the Spice Girls years ago,I will give them another chance now.

AJ Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 02:27 PM EST

I care! I'm watching the vids over at YouTube, and am shocked by how FUN, innocent, and chummy their act was. Esp compared to current acts (already mentioned on this board) who are all about being f*ckable and looking like p0rn stars. These girls always seemed like friends, like people one could relate to. Sexy, sure, but in a down to earth manner, not sex bomb.

Laura Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 01:51 PM EST

Ginger woke up and said ' I need money!' and right away call Emma and she said ' Me too!! ' ...

Hayley Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 01:39 PM EST

I'm excited.. I've been watching their youtube videos all day! Theirs was one of the first CDs I ever bought myself... I can't believe I went around singing "be a little bit wiser baby, put it on," in fifth grade though!!

Yo Yo Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 01:28 PM EST

I'm so all about this reunion--one of my favorite college memories was the time my friends had a Spice Girl party and we all came dressed as our favorite band member. I still giggle every time I think of my guy friends dressed as Ginger... and that was before they started drinking!

FLGrl Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 01:20 PM EST

Cool about the Spice Girls.

But "According to Jim?!" Do we really need another show about an inconsiderate, misogynistic slob who married way out of his league?

LisaMama Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 01:20 PM EST

Hey Hutchy - please don't slam Iowa. I'm sick and tired of people assuming that because you live in the Midwest, you must only like hick, low brow, Touched by an Angel entertainment! Enough stereotyping, please!

Larry Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 12:48 PM EST

I can not wait. I loved the girls because they weren't drop dead gorgeous, weren't the best singers, could barely call them dancers, but DAMN they were fun! Viva the Spice Girls!

bb Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 12:47 PM EST

This is kind of a big deal because the last (and only) time they toured the US was Gingerless. (I saw that concert), I own all the albums, (and 2 Mel C ones!) and would see them again if they came to the Midwest. I'll so buy the new album though.

junior Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 12:19 PM EST

I just feel bad for George Lopez. He's prolly thinking "So the mediocre white sitcom gets to come back, but the mediocre Latin sitcom stays canned. The injustice!"

Oh and like the title of their 3rd (Ginger-less) album, SPICE GIRLS FOREVER!

GingerCat Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 12:06 PM EST

Next to the current crop of pop wh*res (Pussycat Dolls, Brit, Jess, etc.), the Spice Girls seem more empowering than they ever did in their heyday. I'm glad they're reuniting.

Phil Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 12:05 PM EST

Well I'll def. be purchasing the greatest hits album in November, but any Spice fan who can't wait for that, can check out Victoria Beckham's new single, "FULL STOP" featuring Nas on AOL Music under new songs! I never got to catch their concert last time, but I'll def. be making every attempt to make it to NYC to see em this time! Also, guess we pretty much know who's def. going to be one of the guest mentors (or GROUP OF, I should say) on the next season of American idol?? hehehe

As for According to Jim. Does anyone REALLY care? T's post pretty much covers it, at least SOME people kept their jobs, but really? DOES ANYONE CARE?

T Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:56 AM EST

I know people who work on "Jim"--and have nothing to do with the writing, so you can't blame them--and I'm sure they will be very happy to have a job to go back to in the fall. Not the most passionate defense, but it's something. And I actually worked on "Arrested Development," so I mourned its demise both because the show was great and because it meant I was out of work.

Hutchy Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:43 AM EST

Well, here it is, from a guy's perspective: I always liked Ginger back in the day, while feeling like Scary was a bit underrated, and Posh was overrated. Current day? Definately Baby, wow did she ever get HAWT, good god almighty!! As far as According To Jim, that's always been my benchmark go-to show for celebration of total and complete mediocrity and demonstration of the complete lack of taste of 90% of the USA, or as I call them, the "Des Moines, Iowa crowd". For example: "So Arrested Development got canceled...but According To Jim is still on. Riiiight." You can plug in Firefly, Freaks and Geeks, or any other number of shows into that statement and it works just as well.

GeeMoney Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:40 AM EST

I'm not going to go out and purchase tickets for their concert or anything, but I would defintely buy their greatest hits album.

Ceballos Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:32 AM EST

So there's room for "According to Jim", but not for "The Knights of Prosperity" on ABC's sitcom slate? Gimme a break! The "Knights" theme song ("stealing from the rich to give to themselves!") is funnier and better than any of the actual material on "According to Jim."

By the way, Ginger's always been my fave too.

Simon Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:22 AM EST

I am so excited! Like Cassie, I don't live anywhere near one of these 11 cities but I am definitely going to try to get to Las Vegas or NYC. I do not want to miss them this time around!

Sheila. Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:21 AM EST

Spice up your life!

Joe C Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:19 AM EST

I'll tell you what I want/What I really really want..../ The Spice Girls should do a show of all Joni Mitchell and Prince covers! Yeah!

Danielle Thu, Jun 28, 2007 at 11:16 AM EST

As soon as I saw the AP news report, I rang up my friend in Florida (I'm in Ohio) and told him to start saving his money, as we're traveling to either NY, LA or Las Vegas come December. They were awesome when I saw them on their Geri-less U.S. tour, and now we get to see all five!! They made a definite positive impact on my life, and this news has just made my day. Girl Power!

Spice Girls were positive people, but the songs were super cheese!

The Belushi show is now just as bad as Drew Carey's show when it was on it's last legs. I hope next year ABC has the common courtesy to finally youthinize According to Jim.

I've always felt bad for Jim Belushi. His brother died nearly 30 years ago and is STILL considered the talented one. But bas as I've felt, I've never forgiven him for that awful K-9 movie (note to Belushi: Still waiting for my $8 refund on that one).

The Spice Girls return does excite me though. It'll give us at least one more bubblegum hit, and you know that inevitable Ali G interview's going to be fab!

I'll never forget when "Wannabe" came out my freshman year in High School. It was a defining moment in my life. I wanted to see the Spice Girls in concert in 98/99, but couldn't get tickets. Then Ginger Spice/Geri left the group and my hopes of seeing the 5 of them perform had been dashed ever since. I'm not even kidding - this announcement today has been one of the most exciting things I have heard in a very long, long, time. I'll TOTALLY be at this concert come hell or highwater. Zig-a-zig-ah!! :)

Couldn't have said it better myself Cassie!

There has been talk about the Spice reunion for years (at least on some of the UK pop websites I visit), so I am glad this is finally happening. I actually got to see them live when they toured in the US before, but, that was after Geri (also my favorite) left. So, I'd love to see them all together again.

I'm one of those girls who loved the Spice Girls, then said they were lame even though I really still liked them, then just embraced the fact that I loved them! Now as a senior in college I still listen to their music all the time. It's my guilty pleasure, but I don't even feel guilty about it anymore. Am I excited for a reunion tour? Heck yes! Do I live in any of the cities they'll be in? Sadly no :( And now I'll probably never get to see them perform live!

Well, Scary can sing about being a single baby-mama, and Posh can eat a sandwich. I'd watch that. And don't give Jim another chance. It's had 5 years to get good, and it hasn't.
