Crap. 'Tori & Dean' got me

Td_l After sitting through one too many episodes of Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty, I thought I'd redeem myself by avoiding Tori & Dean: Inn Love. I was successful until last weekend, when I got sucked into a marathon on Oxygen. Pretty sure I can pinpoint the exact moment I realized I couldn't not like Tori Spelling's hubby Dean McDermott — that'd be when he caught a squirrel in a cage, brought it into their bed and breakfast, set it on a table, leaned in to it and said something like, "Don't freak out. You're going to meet Tori Spelling." Dean doesn't come off quite as everyman as Nick Lachey, but he gets it. As does Tori, surprisingly. She's smarter than Jessica Simpson (but just as helpless at eight months pregnant).

Seeing as how Oxygen just greenlit a second season of the reality show — which will continue to follow the couple (and newborn son Liam Aaron) as they run that B&B in Fallbrook, Calif. — I know I'm not the only convert. Should your defenses be weakened, there's another marathon tonight starting at 7 p.m. ET, and leading into the season finale at 10:30 p.m. Tori goes into labor. You're welcome.

I know I am going to be villianized for this posting, I swear I'm a good person despite my e-mail address so here it goes. My husband had knee surgery and we were hanging around the house. To my total embarasment we watched the show and got hooked. They are more normal than I expected. However, I can not stand that Liam! He's an extremely unappealing, spoiled and very unattractive child with perhaps some developmental or emotional issues (like ODD). My reaction is almost visceral. Here these two adoring parents are doting over this over indulged kid and he is a total, full on jerk! If I were Patsy or heck even Tori or Dean I'd be outta there. My freinds refer to these types of kids as firestation babies, as in let's roll up to the fire station and drop this thing off! I realize that if I can't stand to look at the kid all I have to do is turn the channel and I have. No more Tori and Dean. They seem like wonderful, loving parents but the show was better w/o those kids.

Apparently, Tori and Dean do not own the hotel. There is an article about it in the a local Fallsbrook newspaper.

How she still has a career, any career, is mindboggling. I guess it pays to have a famous daddy.

I got sucked in this weekend, too. Damn!
Tori: "Without the tabloids, how will I know what I'm really up to?"

I love this show, I didn't want to watch live many cause I didn't think I liked the 2 of them, but now I'm a convert, the show is hilarious and they seem like normal nice people!

Tori's willingness to make fun of herself instantly makes her cool in my eye. Her husband's really likeable, but I'm too heartbroken after "being bobby brown" to watch more reality tv marathons.

In a perfect world, all the sucky and cheeseball actors would become hilariously self aware and would spend their time making fun of their image. Corey Feldman, your reality tv show is waiting...

Like this is a total surprise that Tori is awesome? I mean, I'm still reeling over her brief, yet delightfully comedic stint on her mock-celebreality VH1 show "noTORIous". The episode where she was trying to audition for the alleged Soderbergh prostitute film was HILARIOUS! This show, I would imagine, shouldn't be too far from such comedy.

yes! last night, the boyfriend and i were instantly hooked by the marathon.

dean and tori are cute and so funny together. i had no idea she was down to earth and (unintentionaly?) hilarious.

i can't stop quoting, '$200? that's like, a t-shirt at fred segals.'

I like Tori, but really, how hard is it to be "smarter than Jessica Simpson"?

I never thought in a million years I would become a fan of Tori's, but I am totally loving their show. Dean is a cool guy and they make a great couple. Tori is naturally funny and charming without trying to be for the camera. Happy to hear it was picked up for season two. A fast paced half hour that makes me look forward to the next episode.

Okay, when I was younger (and still sometimes now) people used to tell me that I look like Tori and I was insulted. BUT, I had not seen the greatness that is this show. Now, I would want to be her friend.

Hilarious. Like the Bachelor, I am sucked in.

Annie Tue, May 8, 2007 at 08:21 PM EST

oh good lord. i couldn't escape the black hole of it either. i like them both.

Nichole Tue, May 8, 2007 at 08:01 PM EST

I fell into this marathon last weekend, too, and I enjoyed it. An instant guilty pleasure.

Martha Tue, May 8, 2007 at 07:57 PM EST

Is it just me, or does Dean McDermott look like the love child of Thomas Jane and a female weasel?

Snarky Tue, May 8, 2007 at 07:43 PM EST

Its worlds better than her brother Randy's A&E "Entourage" rip off reality show.

MelinCali Tue, May 8, 2007 at 06:34 PM EST

You know, they don't really own the Inn.

Vicky Tue, May 8, 2007 at 06:26 PM EST

My favorite part was when Tori realized her tabloids arrive a week later in her new town. She said something like "How am I suppose to know what I'm up to???" Too funny!

Dio_K Tue, May 8, 2007 at 06:05 PM EST

It's a wonderful guilty pleasure.
