On the Scene: 'Idol' Bon Jovi performance night

May 2, 2007, 03:36 PM | by Adam B. Vary

Categories: 'American Idol'

Phil_l I'm having a hard time typing, Popwatchers, as my hands are all a-quiver after the most exhilarating Idol live performance night I've ever seen. Granted, I haven't seen many, but I don't really know how this season can top it.

For one, Gina Glocksen was our warm-up comic! Sorta! After the regular shtick from Bill the Other Warm-Up Comic, he pulled up Glocksen from the audience to deliver a pretty hot groove on "Rapper's Delight," and she stayed there to introduce Randy, Ryan, Simon and the Idols. "I don't know what to do," Gina said after she announced Simon's name only to have him not appear at the entrance. "This is so weird right now!" But only the right kind of weird, Gina, trust me.

Actually, I worried it was a bittersweet night for the rocker, what from the Bon Jovi theme night to the loudly warm applause she received when she first entered the studio. Me, I'd be all "oh yeah, where was all this love when I needed your votes?! I could've so rocked it tonight!" But Gina just seemed thrilled to be there. As did Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin up in the front row, by the way. (I'm just going to skip over Antonella Barba except to say she shot Gina quite the dirty look after Ryan told the Top 12 finalist on camera how thrilled he was to see her.)

The real show, of course, began once the cameras went live. Because, Popwatchers, if you were playing close enough attention and happened to be stalking me, you'd realize that for a brief moment, I was on TV.  My little faraway section of the audience temporarily became stage center when Phil launched into a "Blaze of Glory" right along my row (pictured). During his taped bit with Jon Bon Jovi, Debbie the Stage Manager had the rows behind me along the stairwell move to form a human wall and forced the front row of that wall to replace their "Blake U Make Me Ache" sign with that ginormous "Phil!" sign. (Not that they minded — they got to be on TV! And, we later learned, one from that group counts Steven Spielberg as a neighbor. So they've got that going for them too.) Just to give you new stalkers a leg up on things, I was the dork off to the left of the screen with the scruff and glasses trying his best not to look too dorky. (Success!)

I've now watched the show back on TV, and while it still comes over as a darn strong episode, I do think my twitterpation has as much to do with seeing it all live as anything else. Well, maybe save for Jordin, although I'm actually of two minds about her, um, version of "Living on a Prayer." I'll put it to you: Is it better to have at times screechy, off-key singing come through clearly, or not be heard at all over squawking guitars and thumping drums? I'm leaning to the latter, because even though I seriously could not hear Jordin for a good half of her song, at least I was spared the actual singing.

Really, though, that was for my ears the only truly off performance of the night. Phil was strong, LaKisha was fierce — her posse this week were on their feet testifying long before the rest of us were — and even Chris managed to belt (belt!) long stretches of "Dead or Alive" without sounding like Justin Timberlake with a cold. And regular readers know I think Melinda can do no wrong, and, based on the audience's rabid enthusiasm for her growly "Have a Nice Day," I'd say I'm not alone.

The night, though, belonged to Blake. As if in anticipation of this fact, Blake had the most signs in the audience last night—two-to-one, easy. A sampling: "Blake is the Cake" (atop those hot pink pop-art portraits of Blake); the aforementioned "Blake U Make Me Ache"; "Beatboxers can sing too!" held by Papa Lewis; "Shake It Blake"; "Blake You Make My Heart Beatbox"; "Get on the Blake Train"; and a playing-card portrait of Blake with him as the Ace of Hearts. My favorite non-Blake sign — "I Want To Squeeze Ya LaKisha" — was actually one of six signs created for all of the Idols by a Fox affiliate reporter, so it really doesn't count.

And if you're wondering, per Simon's comment, which half of the audience hated on Blake's beat-boxing remix of "You Give Love a Bad Name," well, there wasn't one. We were all pretty much electrified from the get go, so much so I've already started an intra-EW e-mail throwdown over whether it belongs in the pantheon of Greatest Idol Performances Ever. (My vote, clearly: Oh, heck yes!)

I do feel I should point out that I think my fervor was in no small part stoked by the super-mega-ultra Blake fan in the seat next to me, a young man named Dane whose full-bodied enthusiasm for the beat-boxer nearly toppled the risers. I kid — though Dane really was jumping with enough force to bend the floor beneath him (and me) — but only gently, because, you see, Dane is a fan. Of mine. Or, really, of our EW.com Idol coverage. (Yes, that tooting you hear is our own horn.) Dane explained to me that he's all about Blake because he so clearly isn't your papa's Idol contestant. My snark impulse almost had me answering, "Yeah, well, neither was Taylor Hicks," but, really, Dane has a point. Blake's bound to be the lead watercolor convo subject for the next week, and he pulled it off by embracing his truest instincts as a musician, instincts never before seen on the Idol stage. And isn't that what we've all been craving from this show, authentic wow moments, pony-hawks notwithstanding?

My favorite was Jon Bon Jovi! :-)

the sad thing is.....this blog proved Simon correct...1/2 will like and 1/2 won't.

Rick Fri, May 4, 2007 at 12:02 PM EST

Whitney, a few articles back you wondered about how to make these boards more polite, then you go and make all these catty remarks.. why not just skip over Antonella completely instead using that as the start of an insult?

It was a good performance show overall, and the judges were spot on with the criticisms this week.

Not Again Fri, May 4, 2007 at 10:18 AM EST

I am no fan of American Idol (or modern radio). I have never watched even one episode, because I believe it to be generic, gimmicky, overblown karaoke. The information I get on it and the subsequent comments I make come from these boards. So I agree with you on the homogenizing, pigeonholing tactics of both AI and modern radio.

That said, I really don't care what you find problematic. I don't consider spitting into one's hand a "talent". I didn't when I first heard it in 1983, and I still don't to this day. I haven't seen one new artist - of any genre - in the past decade that holds a candle to the technical prowess of 80's metal, the stones and conscience of 90's grunge, the innovations of 70's theatrical rock, or the spirit of 60's hippie rock.

Basically, kids, I think it all sucks these days. One nerdy white kid beat-boxing on that joke of a show isn't going to save things.

Josh Thu, May 3, 2007 at 03:41 PM EST

To those who say beatboxing isn't rock or doesn't belong in rock--frankly, I find this problematic. I thin it echoes a similar worldview propagated by Idol and modern radio that tries to shove everything into a niche with super defined rules. Something which ultimately only serves to stifle creativity. If rock and roll ever meant anything, it meant sloppiness and boundary defying creativity. Now, we have acts that speak to decreasing numbers--a musical echo chamber. Idol only helps perpetuate this idiocy. "Oh, Melinda, you're not the rock girl blah blah blah." What a meaningless and counterproductive [to music overall] idea--that we're all these niche things [Gina is the rock girl and Blake the beatboxer and so on]. It ain't just hip hop that's dead, it's pop music too. Peace out.

Not Again Thu, May 3, 2007 at 11:20 AM EST

Um, the song is called "You Give Love a Bad Name". It's not called "Shot to the Heart". Considering you used Brainiac as a screen name, I would think that you would not want to make a mistake like that. How ironic.

Dave Thu, May 3, 2007 at 09:32 AM EST

Melinda's performance was, hands down, the best of the night. Randy and Simon hit it dead on when they compared her sultry, growling, and borderline angry version of Have a Nice Day to Tina Turner. Idol, and music in general, could use a voice and style like hers, so I hope Melinda doesn't stray from that style and incorporates it into her something of her own. Rock on girl!

Ep Sato Thu, May 3, 2007 at 09:01 AM EST

I thought it was cool how Phil's last song was so darned appropriate. Gone down in a blaze of glory.

Trudy Thu, May 3, 2007 at 08:36 AM EST

This is an amateur contest. And Not Again is right:Beat boxing is not rock and roll by any stretch of the imagination. Bon Jovi's music spells singing suicide for those who cannot really hold a high note.

Stephen Thu, May 3, 2007 at 08:05 AM EST

I'm sorry, I know I/we write a lot of bad stuff about the contestants, but is it really nice to show them those video clips from ppl off the street? Jordan could take it, but who knows for the rest? Like, do you think Blake likes seeing ppl say Chris is hot and Melinda will definitely win? I don't know...

Stephen Thu, May 3, 2007 at 08:05 AM EST

IdolFan_JP Thu, May 3, 2007 at 02:38 AM EST

You can say what you want about Blake, but the performance was completely SAFE. He has fooled those who don't know much about real singing into thinking he can sing, but his voice is WEAK. If beatboxing is what he usually does, what made this performance anything special or original? Seriously, who's gonna buy a CD of Blake beatboxing on every song, or on the other hand, singing in that weak flat boring tone of his non-beatboxing performances? Best overall performance of the night must go to Melinda Doolittle. She had great vocals, stage presence, & really performed the song. Last thing, just because the Idol judges say something, doesn't make it true. People keep saying LaKisha had 2 bad weeks before this week. I disagree & I AM a singer/songwriter/musician. I think the judges/producers were trying to cut her & their comments were overly critical. 2 wks ago Paula had good to say about Sanjaya but gave Kisha bad marks. What?! Listen to the songs again online & hear it yourself.

jason Thu, May 3, 2007 at 02:05 AM EST

in the six season history of american idol, i predicted the top four (i know, who didn't), but better yet, my favorite 4 contestants this seson are the top 4. soild. last season came close, but i did not like taylor. every other season wasn't even close. i'm excited about the next 3 weeks.

Thu, May 3, 2007 at 01:21 AM EST

loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed blakeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

Brainiac Thu, May 3, 2007 at 12:26 AM EST

I like Blake a lot but......his performance was not really that good in my opinion. I think he overdid the beatboxing. It worked better with "Time of the Season" but not so much with "Shot to the Heart". While I normally cannot stand Chris, I actually thought he improved a lot this week and even did a better job than Blake (ugh, that was painful to write). I am so sad that Phil is gone. He was a good, solid singer, and I think he is a genuinely nice guy.

cidigi Wed, May 2, 2007 at 10:36 PM EST

It finally looks like the finals of
AI; it's certainly taken a long time.
At least Ryan was kinder to Jordin
tonight.....

Not Again Wed, May 2, 2007 at 10:27 PM EST

Look, TT, white guys have no business beat-boxing. And beat-boxing has no place in rock music. It's not even cool when Korn does it, much less when some effeminate phoney does it. Now these are irreputable facts, and not one of them makes me jealous or insecure. In short, piss off.

LaRochelle89 Wed, May 2, 2007 at 09:51 PM EST

Hey kids, it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt. Haters, please post on Slezak's board or on your MySpace.

Emperor Norton Wed, May 2, 2007 at 09:21 PM EST

Look, Blake isn't a great vocalist. His voice can be very thin. But the dude does have rhythm, and that counts. In this very sad season of no strong male contestants, we just focus on the positive.

I love that he re-arranged the song, both to freshen it up, and work around his vocal shortcomings. That's very cool!

But he's no Elliot Yamin or Chris Daughtry.

Fellow postmonkeys, let's try to remember to be kind to each other, even if our taste in music sucks.

to TT Wed, May 2, 2007 at 08:48 PM EST

wow, you must like every kind of music there is, then, right? no room for dissention? maybe you should beat it, you moron.

Rihanna Shecrest Wed, May 2, 2007 at 08:42 PM EST

Hmmmmm, Ryan must have been so turned on by Blake's performance that he surely must have been jacking off while seeing his crush perform! Bwahahahaha!

kayla Wed, May 2, 2007 at 07:12 PM EST

ummm, TT. just because people have different tastes in music than you, that does not make them "jealous" or "insecure".

TT Wed, May 2, 2007 at 07:04 PM EST

Blake haters - BEAT IT!! He was hot last night, and you're just jealous and insecure. What is it about a front runner that brings out the worst in people? I don't get it.

sam Wed, May 2, 2007 at 06:56 PM EST

Did Chris perform that song to remind us that he is not Chris Daughtry? If so , he was very successful. The Daughtry version of the song was incredible and the Daughtry/Yamin version at the Idols Live concert was better than the original--it alone was worth the price of admission. Whoever advised this Chris to sing it last night wants him gone--it was bad.

My Favorite Onion Wed, May 2, 2007 at 06:47 PM EST

Blake and Lakisha owned it last night.

Phil made the right choice. I wish he didn't bug me.

Randy irritates me more every week.

Paula had a sippy cup fer sure.

Simon is pretty much on target.

Seacrest slept with Chris and I'm jealous.

Bozo Monkey and his Joker Robot Wife ending the show made me vomit my ice cream. But at least the prez made me stick to my diet, for that I can thank him.

What actually DID happen to Taylor Hicks?

So... Dane is gay, right?

Matt Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:50 PM EST

Yup. Blake's performance was just gimmicky. But it's true - without the beat-boxing , his voice was so weak, weaker than usual, I thought.

brandonk Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:41 PM EST

Blake and Melinda were both outstanding, but I give the edge to Melinda because she's got such amazing vocals.

Clementine Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:36 PM EST

Blake had to beat box because he had the sense to know that he couldn't hit those powerful notes he'd need to sing a Bon Jovi song. Everyone is saying how daring it was, but I thought it was the safest thing he could do to stay in the competition.

ericalina Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:35 PM EST

It is so refreshing to see that many others agree with my feeling that Blake is a gimmick with a paper-thin voice!

janet813 Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:31 PM EST

The wild card in any guesstimate as to who goes home is the weird combination of 2 weeks votes; surely last week's 70M votes will hold sway over this week's results. In other words, I doubt Lakisha's fantastic performance this week will garner her enough votes to compensate for the likely loss of votes for last week's schreech fest. On the other hand, Jordin's good performance last week will probably save her from this week's horrible performance. And being of the blue hair persuasion, my preferences probably aren't mainstream! Actually, I really like most of the contestants (I didn't at the start-they grew on me!) But I really DO NOT LIKE Chris - he's my Sanjaya. As for Blake, not my thing, but hey, he's entertaining! My guess is Lakisha and Chris will go bye-bye, but I wouldn't be surprised (disappointed, but not surprised) if Phil goes home. This is the time of the show when we start to get surprise eliminations, so who knows?

Not Again Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:18 PM EST

Does anyone really consider beat-box a talent? Just wondering...

Not Again Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:15 PM EST

I heard a rumor that Sanjaya didn't actually get voted off of the show. I heard that LaKisha ate him. Anyone know anything about that?

James Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:14 PM EST

Blake performed wonderfully last night. I don't quite understand his detractors - the beatbox gimmick was used imaginatively and didn't overwhelm the singing part of it, and his voice throughout was solid. As for messing with a classic, the song is not exactly Ave Maria. It's Bon Jovi! Where's the sacrilege?
Blake's performance last night is right up there with Melinda's My Funny Valentine and Jordin's I (Who Have Nothing) for best of the season.

Maureen Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:08 PM EST

I thought Blake was very entertaining, but when I listened to it on the radio (there's nothing else to listen to in Los Angeles?) this morning, I realized he was woefully off pitch through much of it. But I very much admire the performance. And I love Melinda.

mrclean Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:07 PM EST

blake is one step away from being the next..........
Micheal Winslow.

Dane Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:05 PM EST

Hey Adam! Thanks for the bit about me! Enjoyed the commentary!!! Go Blake!!!

Tricia B Wed, May 2, 2007 at 05:02 PM EST

Blake = Taylor = high expectations, terrible results. After the initial Idol glow, everyone will realize Blake is gimmicky!

Emperor Norton Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:51 PM EST

Thanks for the recap, Adam!

So many surprises last night! I enjoyed Phil and LaKisha, was surprised by Jordin, and loved Blake. Okay - he's not the strongest singer, but after too many weeks of karaoke, I really appreciate someone bringing their own very unusual arrangement to a song.

And the dark hair is cool - now he doesn't look like Ryan.

But ooh - maybe it's better not to bring it up, but why was the Prez hogging the Idol Gives Back spotlight? I mean, don't we have to have these sorts of fundraisers because our government is busy being a complete failure? Poverty, hunger, and illiteracy in America? Make TV fans fix it! And then pretend you're involved.

Yick.

Tim Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:40 PM EST

Blake can go. The beatbox thing is a tired, passe gimmick. His performance was the worst of the night.

Jeff Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:36 PM EST

Blake became a star last night.

nini72 Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:29 PM EST

loved Blake. I thought he was the most original singer last night. I still adore Jordin but last night she was horrible.

Pede Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:28 PM EST

I just watched Blake's performance again, thinking maybe I overestimated it last night. Nope, still blew me away. That was the most original performance on Idol, ever. And while I hate to say anything negative about any of them, if Chris is still around after that ear-bleeding, mute-button pushing performance.... I just kept remembering Chris Daughtry and his amazing (and in tune) version last season. Ok, gotta go watch Blake again.

logan Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:27 PM EST

Thanks for the behind the scenes recap. Look forward to them every week. Blake was cool. Melinda rocked the house. She can sing anything and is looking hot! LOVE HER! Lakisha killed last night. Hope she stays. Phil sounded great. Chris did well too. Jordin, not a good night at all. She is a good singer and seems very sweet. Still feels like AI is pimping big time for her to make final two and win. Great show all in all last night. Jon Bon Jovi is the man!

Sally Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:24 PM EST

Alright, was it an exciting night because of the performances or because you were on camera? A little confused here.

to 'Not a Fan' Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:20 PM EST

I LOVE YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! I AM NOT ALONE!!!!!

Ryan Seasick Wed, May 2, 2007 at 04:16 PM EST

I like Blake's originality. And last night's performance was all that. But the guy's not much of a singer and I think the sound effects would get old on a whole CD or a show.

FLGrl Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:59 PM EST

I'm gunning for a Blake/Melinda finale! They are both undeniably incredible artists and would make things interesting.

mcbridefan Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:56 PM EST

Blake's look last night reminded me a bit of the mid-80s DuranDuran/Simon LeBon ...I loved his version of the song, and his new look.

jaime Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:54 PM EST

my heart pulls for phil- i think b/c he's a nice guy and he's solid- not great, but solid, but for some reason i like the guy. i'm also a jordin fan- not so much last night, but i still pull for her as well. melinda is too boring for me. i pull for lakisha too b/c she's a single mom (i know, lame reason), but i want her to get a better life- get a hold of that dream. i dug blake last night, but i agree with most everyone where he's actually not that great of a singer- just has the gimmicks. chris r could do without- although... JT is famous, so why shouldn't chris be?

LaRochelle89 Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:52 PM EST

Just re-read all the posts. I'm jealous of all you who get to talk about Idol at the watercolor. Where I work we gather in the teacher's losenge.

Not A Fan Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:50 PM EST

I want to like blake, i really do. But my heart, and my ears, just wont let me. I give him props for his swagger but, I just cant get down with it.

It almost felt like he was cheating, because vocally he doesnt hold a candle to most of the contestants, style wise and artistry he is maybe a strong 2nd. But, no, I just cant bring myself to reconcile that. Dude cant sing. He is a gimmick away from being a nobody.

Stephanie Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:47 PM EST

I wonder if the black could wash out?

Blake was awesome and Melinda busted out Tina Turner like a m-f. Now if this were the 80's Mindy would be HUGE!

LaRochelle89 Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:47 PM EST

I love these on-the-scene blogs. When it's all said and done I have to go with the "morning after factor". Last night I loved it all minus J-spo. Today all that remains is
Phil's walk in the crowds
Jordin's Party City Halloween gear
Blake's hair and the pop-a-top Schlitz sound
Melinda.doing.the.bump
Weren't there two other contestants?

Ceballos Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:46 PM EST

P.S. "watercolor convo" sounds infinitely more fun to me than "watercooler convo."

Ceballos Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:44 PM EST

While Blake undoubtedly pulled off the most memorable performance this year, I still say it's pretty obvious the BEST performance is still Melinda's semifinal take on "My Funny Valentine."

Still, last night (Blake back up/ Jordin stumbling) might put a serious crimp in that forgone conclusion of a Jordin/Melinda final.

ryan's mom Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:36 PM EST

Thank you for saying something kind - and true - about Chris. (Be prepared for the scorn of Slezak.) I agree that Blake's performance should go down in the hall of fame because it was fresh and bold - something needed desperately on the Idol stage after the relentless diva-gospel-karaoke-Disney-broadway moments we have endured for six seasons. Go Cake/Bliss!

LL Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:35 PM EST

Last night was the best of the season. Five of six were great and above their "norm". However, Jordin was WAY out of her league on this song. She would be reliving last week's "elimination" shocker if they were just eliminating one tonight. Kinda weird! I hope Melinda wins even though she's not the most "marketable". She does have the best voice of all of them.

On that note, I L-O-V-E-D Blake's beatbox/remix of JBJ! Wow - that took guts, and it was a winner in my book. I'd download it to my MP3 player any day soon!

It's getting good, America! Will it be Blake, Jordin or Melinda winning the crown of AI? Until next week...

Thataboy Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:30 PM EST

The half that hated Blake's performance would be the half that can hear. He picked a SUPER-EASY song, and only sang half of it (pitchily). I made up that word, pitchily, in honor of the cheesy prep-dwarf. Feel free to use it in future writings.

Hideous, embarrassing. Jordin sucked, but she gets an A for effort for picking a tough song.

Nate Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:25 PM EST

Anna you keep saying the same thing in all the talkbacks about Blake. He had gone weeks without beatboxing for one thing. He clearly knows it doesnt belong on EVERY song. And I will have you know that other artists have been using it sucessfully for quite some time. Justin Timberlake has not had an issue selling millions and using his beatboxing in certain songs

Penelope Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:24 PM EST

My musician husband tolerates my love of American Idol and patiently sits every Tues and Weds watching with me. After Blake's performance finished yesterday, he made me rewind the DVR so he could watch it again. He didn't even make fun of me when I obsessively voted while he was watching The Deadliest Catch. That's how good Blake was last night!

dixie Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:24 PM EST

Blake sang the chorus very well but I didn't enjoy the beatboxing. He did rock the house better than anyone else.

I don't know how Jon & Dave kept from laughing during Chris' one-on-one practice.
"Wanted, waaaannnteeed"....

Dee Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:17 PM EST

Hey Adam! Do you mean,"watercooler convo?" I like to paint and talk at the same time too, but "watercolor convo" doesn't make sense!

Ep Sato Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:13 PM EST

Agreed on Blake. He pulled off "rockstar" like no one else on stage. From the outfit to the different hair coloring, Blake impressed me, and I've been rooting against him all season.

Kiki was BACK and put herself on the top tier where she belongs. Proof that she does better when she listens to the singing coach.

I loved Melinda's performance but dislike the song. Chris was pretty okay and may get a pass, but this week we lose two singers.

On that note, Jordin Sparks surprised me with an underwhelming performance, and a communications problem between tivo and my digital cable box stopped me from enjoying Phil's performance.

To me, this evening could prove a real toss up. Last week's performances were pretty good, but some of the best contenders from last week had trouble last night.

John Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:13 PM EST

I've gotta say that for a brief moment, I had goose bumps as Blake went off. Maybe not the best AI performance, but definitely the most memorable for a GOOD reason.

Anna Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:12 PM EST

I truly don't understand the whole Blake phenomenon. He's a mediocre singer who can beat box. The beat boxing gets old (aka. I wouldn't want listen to an entire CD of him beat boxing) and it's not even THAT good!

Tamara Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:10 PM EST

I for one love Blake's singing voice, and thought last night's performance was a wonderfully produced and arranged gem that balanced his vocals and his "isms" perfectly.

Congrats on your screen time, Adam!

blake... Wed, May 2, 2007 at 03:01 PM EST

...could do even better if he had a singing voice. imagine how swoonworth he'd be then?

Gogs Wed, May 2, 2007 at 02:58 PM EST

I completely disagree - Blake, you keep that dark hair! It compliments your dark, bad-boy, lock-up-yer-daughters-'cause-here-comes-Blake soul!

K Wed, May 2, 2007 at 02:56 PM EST

Blake can do no wrong after last night. How do you make one of the most over played songs of all time sound completely new and fresh.... just listen to Blake. I don't care if he wins or not, he's going to be successful. I was clapping and shouting at home, it was that great!

Ed Wed, May 2, 2007 at 02:46 PM EST

The spell has been broken, Blake please dye your hair blond again...black just does not work with you!

You're going the way of Felicity after she cut her hair. Please remember, something as simple as hair can ruin your career!
