Which sci-fi character/creature would be your buddy?

Apr 27, 2007, 06:00 AM | by Annie Barrett

Categories: Film, Television

Et_l EW.com's revving up for a special package about the best science-fiction movies and TV from the past 25 years (look for it late next week). So we wanna know: Out of any sci-fi creation to date, which character or creature would you most want as your friend, and why? Things to consider: superpowers, language barriers, levels of goo, degrees of separation from William Shatner, etc.

I'm going to be a big nerd/child and go with E.T. I always identified with the little alien. He liked playing dress-up, raided a mean fridge, and would generally rather stare into space than deal with his immediate environment. We'd make great pals -- he wants to call home a lot and I hate cell phones, so he could basically have mine. We'd eat Reese's Pieces and gossip about the earthlings all night long. He would call me "Aaaaaaaa-nnieeeeeeee" and I would eat that up.

Other picks:

Desmond from Lost -- Boyfriend, friend, same diff.

The Thing -- It could annihilate people and restaurant chains I don't appreciate. Plus, it'd get really annoyed when I sang "That thing, that thing, that thi-i-i-iiiing..." to him on a regular basis... but it would have to fight the urge to destroy me... because we were friends.

Michael Caine in Children of Men -- He was hardly involved in the science-fiction-y part of the plot, but I think we'd get along. He plays King Crimson on vinyl!

What about you?

Patrick Sat, May 12, 2007 at 12:42 AM EST

As a follow-up, I'd like to hang with Daniel Jackson from SG1 and take a few trips through the ring.

Patrick Fri, May 11, 2007 at 11:59 PM EST

All ten Doctors from Doctor Who.

I'd like to meet all of them and spend some quality time with each of them, especially the Second Doctor because Zoe is hot.

dolphin girl Sat, May 5, 2007 at 05:07 AM EST

Definitly the Doctor in his tenth incarnation (DAVID TENNANT!)because he's cute loyal kind intelligent need i say anymore?

Arlie Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 05:34 PM EST

I was thinking Robbie the Robot from Forbidden Planet but then maybe Chubacca or any of the good guys from Farscape as they would all be cool to hang with.
:-)

Anjeliki Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 02:44 PM EST

I call "shotgun" in Wonder Woman's invisible airplane.

And does Jeff Goldblum's character from "Earth Girls are Easy" count as sci-fi? Friend with benefits.

OK, I'm old.

Sheila Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 02:20 PM EST

Desmond is a hottie for an earthling! In outerspace I'd choose Han Solo cuz Chewie comes with the package.
Capt Mal cuz the Serenity is the place to be, crew included.
Qui-Gon Jin, the original Jedi hero, and Jar Jar Binks comes with the package(the life debt thing)he'd be good for laughs.

Jane Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 01:58 PM EST

Mulder and Scully, cause they are both smart and sexy. Plus, think of the conversations ... a variety of interesting "subjects"

Janet Mon, Apr 30, 2007 at 01:43 PM EST

OOHH, lots to choose from, indeed. Desmond from Lost would have to be my 1st choice--gorgeous, sexy, tender AND tough--plus a to-die-for Scottish accent! Other choices:
Sam from Quantum Leap
Shepherd from Stargate Atlantis
Sam Carter and Daniel Jackson from SG1
Delenn from Babylon 5--that woman will kick your behind if you mess with those she loves!

Brandon Keim Sun, Apr 29, 2007 at 08:19 PM EST

Pip, the "minidrag" from Alan Dean Foster's Flinx & Pip adventures. Who doesn't want a loyal, smart, poison-spitting flying dragon riding on your shoulder?

Warren Sun, Apr 29, 2007 at 12:48 PM EST

The Doctor, of course. You're travelling through time and space, meeting aliens, saving worlds, oh--and there's usually hot babes in The TARDIS.

Cindy Lee Sun, Apr 29, 2007 at 09:08 AM EST

I would LOVE to be a crew member on Serenity/Firefly. Nathan Fillian is hot to me for reasons I do not understand.
I would also love to be friends with John Preston (played by Christian Bale) in Equilibrium. SO HOT!

jbdean Sun, Apr 29, 2007 at 02:09 AM EST

Hands down it would have to be the FANTASTIC character played by the equally FANTASTIC actor Henry Ian Cusick. Who's that? Desmond on ABC's LOST! He's caring and attentive, compassionate, smart, a hard worker and loyal. A better buddy you couldn't wish for! :D

Mi Sun, Apr 29, 2007 at 12:37 AM EST

Desmond David Hume - without a doubt
Han Solo - yes, no explanation needed
Obi Wan - whoever is playing him
Mulder - *thud* we could go drinking!
Jean Luc Picard - ummm...yeah
Batman Begins - 2 words-Christian Bale
Van Helsing - most definitely

Jami JoAnne Russell Sat, Apr 28, 2007 at 08:42 PM EST

Folks, Buffy, Angel, Harry Potter, Xena, and Hercules along with many others mentioned are NOT science fiction characters. They are fantasy characters. Sci-fi is things like Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Firefly, X-Files (to an extent, since there was magic and supernatural beings like vampires and demons in the X-Files it's part fantasy too, but mostly sci-fi), etc.
Just thought you might need to be educated.

lisa Sat, Apr 28, 2007 at 12:45 AM EST

John Connor from Terminator 2. The kid can act like a bad boy, hacking into bank terminals and riding motorbikes, but he loves his mom more than anything. Too sweet for words!

Ann Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:58 PM EST

It would totally have to be Hermione. She's super smart, a really loyal friend, and a completely kick-a## witch. Plus you could have some Willow thrown in there for good measure. They could have a witch-off, which would be like a wizard's duel to the power of AWESOME.

spaced Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:19 PM EST

..... the killer tomatoes.....

Allison Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:33 PM EST

totally marty mcfly
take me away! i dont mind! just gotta promise me we'll be BACK IN TIME....

Maeve Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 06:32 PM EST

Anakin Skywalker- he certainly wouldn't be jealous of me like he was with Obi-Wan. It would be fun to direct him towards a good shrink and maybe even obsetrician.

Melissa Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 06:19 PM EST

I would love to have the Doctor from Doctor Who as my buddy He is such a fascinating, friendly guy! Others on my buddy list would be: Joel, Mike and the Bots from MST3K, Centauri from the Last Starfighter, E.T. , Starman, Julian Bashir, Q and Data from Star Trek, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Spock, James Kirk, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, along with countless other SF characters.

Jenny Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 06:05 PM EST

Willow from Buffy.

JayGee Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 05:39 PM EST

Three choices: Chewbacca, Bender and the Iron Giant

Chuck_A Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 05:21 PM EST

I can't believe noone has mentioned "Q" yet (from "Star Trek: TNG"). Granted, I wouldn't want him for an enemy, but as a friend? Heck, I could have all the blue batgirls, Uhuras and Troys I could ever dream of (not to mention a few tribbles to purr with).

TQT Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 04:50 PM EST

1. The Serenity Crew
2. The Scoobies
3. Chewbacca
4. Gollum

Lara Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 04:23 PM EST

The Doctor from Doctor Who
Who wouldn't want to travel time and space? And with such an fun guy? The Danger just 'the bits in between"

Dre Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 03:00 PM EST

FLASH freakin' GORDON!

Laura B. Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:44 PM EST

Definitely, Dr. Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG-1. He has looks, muscles, and the knowledge of pretty much every language in the galaxy. I would love to spend hours over dinner talking about ancient mythologies.

Lori Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:40 PM EST

Xena.

Buffy, Willow, or Xander would do in a pinch.

clare-clare Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:27 PM EST

Oh! Without a doubt, definitely the crew from the Satellite of Love (preferably specifically Mike-era, personally).

Mike Nelson, Crow T. Robot, Tom Servo... who wouldn't want to be trapped on a spaceship w/ those guys?

Rahul Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:26 PM EST

I'd like to be friends with Cara Thrace (Starbuck) from 'Battlestar Galactica.' I love her hard-drinking-frak the world attitude. She would be tons of fun at the bar. Maybe Colonel Tigh could come along too.

Jami JoAnne Russell Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:11 PM EST

The obvious choice is Lt. Com. Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Incredibly smart, stronger then a Klingon, superior reflexes - if anyone can help you survive, it's Data. Not to mention it doesn't hurt that he's sexy and can sing. By far, Data is the superior sci-fi companion. Sorry, Spock. (Though you always will be my first love, you adorable Vulcan.)

Mathieu Poirier Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 02:01 PM EST

Definitely Chewbacca. Like Han Solo in the Star Wars movies, I would be the only one to understand what the heck he's saying, so there would be a "special bond" between the two of us.

Tony Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:49 PM EST

Hah! I'm with Stacey. Elim Garak "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" would be a heck of a pal. I mean, how could you not love a Cardassian spy-turned-gardener-turned-tailor-but-really-a-lying-spy-at-heart? Plus, we'd hang out with Bashir in the Holosuites and act out James Bond spy novels!

Maggie Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:41 PM EST

Top of the list would be Clark Kent from Smallville, accompanied by Chloe Sullivan. I'd ask Lex but they'd quarrel all the time.

And yes, the crew of Serenity would be right there following up in second place.

Stephanie Travitsky Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:33 PM EST

How about Angua the vegetarian Werewolf from Terry Pratchetts Discworld?

Stephanie Travitsky Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:30 PM EST

V, or Ford Prefect of Hitchikers, but the book and BCC version

mikey Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:26 PM EST

Smeg! I meant Dave Lister in my post below. And props to those who want to hang with Bender.

Dio_K Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:14 PM EST

Obi-Wan is my choice, but everyone else around me wants Bender. You could do anything with him and still be the "virutous" one. But Obi-Wan might want to discuss if Chris and Melinda are an item, and I can't see Bender getting into that.

Ep Sato Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 01:03 PM EST

OMG, I forgot the most important one of all. Bender from Futurama.

I've ALWAYS wanted a robot best friend. That they made this robot a cigar smoking, whore mongering alcoholic scene stealer only made me want to be his friend even more.

I'd give up a chance to learn the Force if I could instead spend the time drinking LoBrau with Bender.

Shelley Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:52 PM EST

Radek Zelenka from Stargate: Atlantis. He's the only scientist who can yell at Rodney, actually correct Rodney, and still live. Plus, I love the Czech accent :)

mikey Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:30 PM EST

I'm totally on board with Yoda and/or Chewie, but for a cool dude to hang with I'd say Dave Rimmer from "Red Dwarf." Who better to have as a friend when you want to eat a good curry, tip a few pints, and have some good laughs all while scoping the babes.

Rose Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:27 PM EST

Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

azmatazz Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:26 PM EST

My first pick? Definitely the Doctor (Doctor Who - preferably Tennant), but I wouldn't mind the others. Otherwise, either Crusher or Bashir from the Star Trek's. From Heroes, either Peter, Claude, or Hiro. And, almost anyone on Lost, especially Hugo or Desmond. I'd love to ask them questions and find out what holes we're missing so far. Ben's mastery of psychology would scare me, but it would be interesting to get on his good side as well for the same reason.

Talon Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:21 PM EST

Moya, from Farscape. Loyal friend, mode of transporation and starburster all in one! The crew can come along as well...especially the sarcastically beautiful Crichton.

PhillFlash Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:19 PM EST

I have five sci-fi buddies in mind for a road trip that would be out of this world:
"Starman" (Jeff Bridges) -- the cool alien can drive, since he tools around in a hopped-up 1977 Mustang and can greet people in 54 Planet Earth languages
Jeriba (Louis Gossett Jr.) in "Enemy Mine" -- a reptilian survivor from a space war, Jerry would have no problem calling "shotgun" and getting his way
Centauri (Robert Preston) from "The Last Starfighter" -- the intergalactic recruiter who could talk his way out of any speeding ticket
"Sigmund the Sea Monster" -- Two words - party animal!
"The Bionic Woman" Jamie Sommers (Lindsay Wagner) -- Not only would she be the hottest cyborg on the beach, but she can also get us a great deal on those dial-a-number mattresses!

cookie monster Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:16 PM EST

Snuffalapagus from Sesame Street. What! He's not based in fact or scientific reality, so science fiction.

Mozz Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:14 PM EST

Okay, so my friends and I have a list that makes up our Ocean's 11. so i'm doing my Ocean's Sci-Fi 11.
1. Me. - just me.
2. Seven of Nine - Star Trek Voyager
3. Dr. Who - David Tennant
4. Peter Patrelli - Heroes
5. John Crichton - Farscape
6. Zoe - Firefly/Serenity
7. Sark - Alias
8. Ripley - Aliens
9. Trinity - The Matrix
10. Willow Rosenberg - Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (but can I have evil willow?)

And it would be our job to have fun while robbing casinos in mystical ways through out the known universe. our next stop would be RIZA.

MEme Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:13 PM EST

I remember when I first saw 'Close Encounters' I wanted to go on that ship with Richard Dreyfuss.
In retrospect, I realize that was because I hated my life at the time. But I like it here now.... with my earthly friends.

Caffeinejunkie Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:12 PM EST

The Doctor from Doctor Who (preferably in his Tenth incarnation!)
Hiro from Heroes
Xander from Buffy
(I like my boys geeky!)

todd Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 12:09 PM EST

So the past 25 years of Sci-Fi - then you only have one of the classic Star Wars movies available to compete - and that is the weakest of the original three. Revenge of the Sith should be on there, as should Star Trek: TNG. And The Matrix.....but ET BARELY makes the cut, and it is likely to be no. 1, no?

Shaun G Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:57 AM EST

Not sure which sci-fi character I'd want as a friend, but as far as pets go, I've always wanted one of those little aliens from "Flight of the Navigator" -- the one whose home planet got destroyed and who tags along with David when he goes back to 1978.

Kaitlin Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:52 AM EST

01. Anybody from the Whedonverse. Let's face it, how do you choose?
02. Michael Guerin or Max Evans (Roswell)
03. Apollo and Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)

The list could seriuosly go on forever.

Kaitlin Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:52 AM EST

01. Anybody from the Whedonverse. Let's face it, how do you choose?
02. Michael Guerin or Max Evans (Roswell)
03. Apollo and Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)

Anna Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:47 AM EST

I would definitely go with Gandalf from Lord of the Rings as my buddy! He would definitely impress any party guests with his wisdom, MAGIC, AND endless supply of pipe-weed!

Also, I'd go with Sam Gamgee. The loyalist friend of them all!

Nix Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:35 AM EST

I dunno about "friends", but I'd love to be a hanger-on behind Londo & G'Kar from Babylon 5 (after they became frenemies but before they killed each other). God, those two had some delicious sniping scenes once the whole war/genocide thing was over.

As for a buddy, Tom Paris, from Voyager. Reminds me of every best friend I ever had. Including the self-centered, possible jail thing.

GeeMoney Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:35 AM EST

Alf, because he would make me laugh!

Toonces 2 Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:32 AM EST

mmm....Sark from Alias...Good call. I miss him!

I must also pick Yoda - for his general overall awesomeness and ability to kick a**

Ep Sato Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:14 AM EST

Rich, I'm thinking Spock didn't make the list because he wupped on Kirk in Amok Time. While friendships are key, it's tough to stay friends when your buddy gets in the way of your once every seven years mating ritual.

Whoever said Falcor, you rule my world. A parody of the Neverending Story was in a recent Venture Brothers episode. It was brilliant!

Honorable mention to Doc Samson. He would have made the list but got bested by Lobo (first) who got beat up by Wolverine, who was then sent out the airlock by Jayne Cobb.

Bruno Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:14 AM EST

Starbuck, although...she can be a real pain in the ass.

Annie Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:13 AM EST

I'll go with Frohike from X-Files. I have a feeling he'd elevate my self esteem. I'd get to play with his fun spy gadgets and occasionally put on something black to do "some funky poaching". I'd get to stare and drool at Mulder and Scully whenever they came over for a favor. He'd also teach me fashion- I hear that fingerless gloves and furry vests are all the rage.

Mozz Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:12 AM EST

three words and two numbers for ya. SEVEN of NINE.

Trina Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:09 AM EST

I totally agree with Desmond being gorgeous!! But I would definatly choose the Doctor (especially if it was David Tennant)...you can't ask for a better friend than that!

Melissa Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 11:07 AM EST

Chewbacca. Since I was 11 (I'm..cough cough..much older now), I've thought it would be cool to have Chewie for a friend. Think about it. He can growl and no one else would understand him but me. When some kid made fun of me, or some guy broke my heart, he could rip his arm off like he was playing some virtual reality space chess game. And when the lady who lives downstairs from me knocks on the door to complain that I'm playing my TV too loud, I can just have Chewie answer the door. Methinks no more complaints. And he'd be taller than me.

Rich Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:55 AM EST

50+ posts and no Spock? Wha? Super intelligent. Dryly funny. Has the neck pinch and mind meld. Won't crowd you while you're surfin' for babes. What's not to like?

Amber Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:52 AM EST

I'm going to have to go with the Doctor (especially the 9th one.) He moves through time in a blue Police Public Call Box that's bigger on the insiad than it is on the outside (love the TARDIS) and he has a sonic screwdriver. Need I say more?

trim Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:50 AM EST

Mack, from Mack&Me! That was my man!!

Shelly Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:47 AM EST

Well, if I couldn't have John Crichton from Farscape follow me around for the hotness factor, maybe the Doctor from Voyager, so he could follow me around and make snarky comments.

Alyson Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:42 AM EST

I would definitely go with The Thing of the fantastic four. Not only is Ben/The Thing smart (come on, he's a scientist after all), but he has a good sense of humor, and could kick just about any one's butt. He'd be a handy friend to have around in a stitch, but he'd also be fun to hang out with. Plus, maybe just maybe, Johnny would come around every once in a while to hang out with us too...

Jen Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:36 AM EST

Frodo, Sam, Merry & Pippin. Happy Hobbits as friends would be way fun. Good food several times a day, overall jolliness..... Sweet!

Stacey Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM EST

I love this post. I forgot two of my favorites:

Falcor from the Neverending Story - because he would make my commute to work so much more fun.

Mr. Sark from Alias - what can I say? I've got a thing for the bad boys.

carrie massey Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:29 AM EST

The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant!
Actually I would chose any of the docotrs from the Doctor Who series!

Cisco22 Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:28 AM EST

You know I'm going to go with HAL9000 from 2001. Sure it's a huge ass computer, but hey my laptop can't talk to me in a nice voice and sing "Daisy Bell"!

Francisco Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:21 AM EST

Spider-Man, Soundwave, Captain America, Optimus Prime, Ripley, Mulder and Scully - these characters are all-stars. Who wouldn't want these characters watching their back?

Ep Sato Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:12 AM EST

I love this post but could never choose just one. Here's my top 10:
#10) Ajax from the Warriors-He's good in fights.
#9) SCUD the Assasin- efficient and disposable.
#8) Q from James Bond -I want an ejector seat in my car!
#7)"Rommie" from Andromeda -A hot robot chica with her own spaceship? yes please).
#6) Kara Thrace from BSG- Rum + cigars + a fighter pilot= a great party
#5) Jayne Cobb from Firefly- Vera would come in handy, and he'd be fun to play cards with.
#4)Prince Vultan (the wings), or Princess Aura (sexy and can revive you from death) from Flash Gordon
#3)Chewbacca-I've written a semi-biographical skit about a stoner who's abductes from Earth by a wookie
#2) Data- Loyal to the end, Data is fully functional and can do cool party tricks with his removable head panels. In other words, he'd be a kickazz wingman.

#1) YODA- 800 years training Jedi knights? My life would be like "Zapped II" after that education.

Jenn Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:11 AM EST

Whoever said Alf is a genius! I love it, and i love him!

JoeyJoJo Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 10:01 AM EST

William Wallace, because if anyone treated me badly he'd lop off their head and present it to my enemies.

Jane Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:59 AM EST

Abby from "The Truth About Cats & Dogs." I could see us hanging out at a bistro or cafe somewhere making fun of all the blondes who came into the restaurant.

martha Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:59 AM EST

Yoda! on top of being wise, totally kick ass he can...

Ceballos Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:55 AM EST

I'll go ahead and give "Al" (Dean Stockwell) from "Quantum Leap" a shout out. He'd always be there for me providing crucial bits of info (via "Ziggy"), as well as loyalty, funky future clothes and tough talking wisecracks.

ericalina Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:48 AM EST

mine too would def. be ET. it is my most favorite movie of all time.

but i could only be friends with healthy ET and not white, down by the river being sniffed at by racoons ET. unless i wanted our whole friendship to be about CRYING.

Hobie Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:43 AM EST

Two words; Optimus Prime

Ed Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:38 AM EST

Do cartoons count? I would choose He-Man and live in Eternia. Eternia was always a mysterious place, a castle which had a mote that was endless; a kingdom that was built on a plateau and a walking skeleton that tried to take over the kingdom.
How fun!

Joe Cool Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:37 AM EST

Superman would be my all-time favorite. I've always wanted to fly. He could take me flying. And, if it was Dean Cain, my wife would like that and then maybe Teri Hatcher could come over, too......

Joe Cool Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:33 AM EST

1) Luke Skywalker - hopefully, he would teach me some of those mad Jedi skilz. And, maybe let me fly his X-wing.
2) Buffy Summers - I believe "friend with benefits" has been mentioned.

Barry Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:32 AM EST

There could be many individual choices, but for a group selection, who would not choose the crew of Serenity?

Jeremy Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:18 AM EST

I've always wanted my own R2-D2 - to bring me drinks, project movies, and in general follow me around and make funny and endearing beeping noises.

Jeremy Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:17 AM EST

I've always wanted my own R2-D2 - to bring me drinks, project movies, and in general follow me around and make funny and endearing beeping noises.

Joe C Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:16 AM EST

Annie, I will go with you; we will share 'the Thing' as our friend.

LisaMama Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 09:09 AM EST

- Hiro from Heroes; because he's funny, sweet, and eternally optimistic
- the Scooby gang from Buffy: because they're loyal, smart, and hip
- Mulder and Scully; because you need her skepticism and his belief that that truth is out there
- the Firefly crew: they know how to get you out of a pinch
- Ripley: because she's the best butt-kicking woman of all time!

Jael Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:54 AM EST

My husband and I have had this discussion. Yes, we are high-ranking nerds. We thought both the crew of Serenity and Buffy's Scooby Gang would be a blast. John Criton from Farscape would be a blast too. I guess I skew human.

Chris Richards Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:52 AM EST

Chewbacca - As loyalty goes, the big guy is unmatched. He's both a good friend and a fearsome warrior; and he's cuddly to boot. Except for the huge shampoo bill, what more could you ask for?

nightcrawler666 Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:51 AM EST

Definitely Crow and Tom, Gypsy can keep the house running and Cambot could be security. How I miss them; especially with a new Nic Cage movie out every week...what fun we could have.

Melanie Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:51 AM EST

Lee "Apollo" Adama from BSG for mostly unbuddylike reasons...

ESB Fri, Apr 27, 2007 at 08:49 AM EST
