Today's Funnies: Shellfish Behavior

Apr 17, 2007, 06:00 AM | by Wook Kim

Categories: Today's Funnies

Yesterday's Funnies post provoked a spirited debate over the appropriateness of having a cute toddler utter some not very cute and not very toddler-ish words. Always eager to raise the level of debate, we now ask you to weigh in on the complex issues surrounding the exploitation and humiliation of crustaceans for mostly humorous purposes.

You are awesome, furry_tom! I totally had this picture of Ozzy Osbourne as George Jetson just now thanks to you.

Ha, I could see Ozzy up there. "Shaaaron. How do I get off this [bleep] thing?"

Judy Tue, Apr 17, 2007 at 03:15 PM EST

Furry Tom has a sense of humor. He is right. I could have chosen Ozzy Osbourne. He probably wouldn't feel it anyway.

I don't see any problem with the first one-- shellfish obesity is out of control in this country and I think that shrimp is sending a positive message to larvae everywhere that fitness can be cool and fun.

The people responsible for giving a cigarette to that clearly underage crab, however, should be shot.

See Judy gets it. These are reprehensible and if these were humans, it wouldn't be tolerated. Although she could have chosen a better target. I'd say that either the Gorton's fisherman or Van de Kamp (a German aristocrat I'm sure, probably responsible for that crab video) should be up on that treadmill.

I don't really know that they're cruel or not, but they're both lame and unfunny, I can tell ya that.
And if laughing at a toddler saying "I put you on the streets" makes me a bad person, then I'll be giggling all the way to Hell.

Sarah Tue, Apr 17, 2007 at 09:28 AM EST

Mmmmm. Both look Deeeee-licious!

Judy Tue, Apr 17, 2007 at 07:51 AM EST

How about we take Furry Tom-yuck, and put him on a treadmill, slam him down a couple of times and pick him up, then slam him again. Oh what fun!

furry_tom Tue, Apr 17, 2007 at 07:28 AM EST

Oh man, these are so obviously cruel. You can see a hand pushing the crawfish back onto the treadmill when it falls off and we're sending a terrible message to younger crabs by glorifying smoking.
