Maggie G. Hosts Sci/Tech Oscars

Maggie_l Hey, Maggie Gyllenhaal — you've had one of the biggest years of your life! You starred in a ton of movies like World Trade Center, Sherrybaby, and Stranger Than Fiction! You earned kudos from coast to coast! You gave birth to a bouncing baby Sarsgaard! What are you gonna do next? Why, you're going to host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Scientific & Technical Awards this Saturday!

I know that it may seem like a shabby consolation prize for her Oscar snub (hard to believe that Maggie G. has never been nominated), but this is a pretty big deal. The S&TAs honor folks who have come up with inventions and devices and other do-dads that have improved the film industry. These 15 awards are not competitive, so we already know that the winners will include Star Wars effects dude Richard Edlund (he'll get the John A. Bonner Medal of Commendation) and visual effects software developer Ray Feeney (the Gordon E. Sawyer Award). So, PopWatchers, now you know what you'll be missing when you get up to refill the popcorn bowl as they show highlights from the S&TAs during the Oscars telecast.

They should have other technical awards at the S&TAs,like makeup, costumes, sound, and cinematography instead of at the Oscars.

Hey, are you predicting the OSCARS this year too? In what issue can we read them? Regards.

Not to stir up controversy, as I am a longtime fan of Jennifer Garner, and also appreciate Rachel McAdams for her looks, but Maggie is in an entirely different stratosphere in terms of talent. I don't think Garner or McAdams will ever be up for an Academy nomination, whereas with Maggie, it's just a matter of when.

Dayla - it's called keeping the nerds happy. They are the brains behind what works in Hollywood, so if you keep them flush with hot chicks, they'll keep working. LOL! I always found that to be funny. The SciTech awards were always presented by a hot ingenue of Hollywood. Horny nerds. GET BACK TO WORK!

At least she'll be in some great company. Someone has a knack for inviting interesting, talented actresses to host these awards. See past hosts Jennifer Garner and Rachel McAdams.

But it at least means Maggie will be part of the official telecast when she introduces the technical portion.
