Trailer Blazer: 'Knocked Up'

Knockedup_l Looks like somebody's going for a two-peat. Universal has just released the one-sheet poster for Judd Apatow's summer comedy Knocked Up, and it looks strikingly similar to the poster for the director's 2005 smash The 40-Year-Old Virgin. This time, however, it's Apatow protégé Seth Rogen's burly, bemused mug staring back at us, instead of Steve Carell's shiny one. A quasi-companion film, Knocked Up stars Rogen as a man who impregnates the lovely Katherine Heigl (pictured, with Rogen) during a one-night stand. Virgin veterans Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann also join in the fun, as do TV funnymen B.J. Novak and Jason Segel.

Though the jury's still out on if the adorable Rogen, a veteran of Apatow's gone-too-soon TV series Freaks and Geeks, can be a leading man, he's getting ample support. Thanks to small roles in Anchorman and Virgin, he's recognizable to Frat Pack fans, and production has also wrapped on his first screenplay, this August's Super Bad. Plus, if this NSFW teaser trailer is any indication, good things like ahead for young (hi, he's only 24!) Rogen. What the heck is a dental dam, anyway?

Hey, me -- a dental dam can also be used for women when *women* want to give them pleasure.

I loved Freaks & Geeks, so I really like Seth.

Not crazy about the premise here. I won't run to the theater, but I'm sure I'll see it eventually because of the people involved.

Seth Rogan is unbelievably hilarious
the trailer, all 1 minute and sixteen seconds of it, had me wanting more already

I can see him becoming a household name, I'm just surprised he hadn't really done anything since 40 year old virgin.

Dave Fri, Feb 2, 2007 at 12:03 PM EST

I'm sure it will be genius as always. Plus, gotta love the F&G/Undeclared reunion with Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jason Segel and Martin Starr. Plus Paul Rudd!

I've been following Seth Rogen since Freaks and Geeks, and I'm so excited to see him making a mark on the Hollywood Scene as an actor and writer!

I saw a screening of this movie two weeks ago in New York. It is absolutely hilarious. Here's an excerpt of what I wrote about it on my blog:

"Not to be too presumptious, but I think this might be the funniest movie of the year. It is on par with Little Miss Sunshine and Borat, my favorite comedies from last year. The movie was consistently entertaining with some of the best characters in any comedy I've seen in a long time. Debbie Matenopoulos, who I guess is little more than a real life E! correspondent, plays herself in the movie and almost steals the show.

I'll be paying to see this again when it comes out in June, and I think it'll be a big hit.

Mark my words."

It was a nice find, and I look forward to seeing who it is received when it opens in June.

He's only 24??? Wow. Did not know that. Well I'm totally diggin' the poster cause everytime I look at it, it makes me giggle.

I'd get knocked pp by Seth Rogen.

Together we'd have curly-haired smart-ass children.

And it would be wonderful!

Between Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Anchorman, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Seth Rogan's already got an impressive resume. Knocked Up looks like it has potential. Plus, I love Katherine Heigl, and the two of them could have hilarious chemistry on screen.

I hope Seth Rogen has a future as a leading man, he's actually funny. He was clearly Apatow's favorite on Undeclared (he even wrote a couple of episodes) and for good reason.
