Clip of the Day: Nicolas Cage in 'The Wicker Man'

Cage_l When the remake of the 1973 cult classic horror film The Wicker Man came out in theaters last year, I heeded the warning of most reviews and stayed far, far away. But then a friend sent me this YouTube clip of scenes from the film, and I began to wonder if I'd let The Craptacular Movie of 2006 pass me by. Any further details will only spoil the fun, but I will warn that some of the excerpts are violent in what would normally be a highly offensive way, but in this context just seemed so frickin' random that I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. Enjoy!

Given this, and the "Ghost Rider" trailer, I'd say Nic Cage has a decent shot at starring in back-to-back "Craptacular movies of the year".

What's really ironic about this is that EW's own O.G. gave the movie a generally positive review! LOL

This is when I am glad this four letter internet communication code exists because I just totally LMAO.

Hilarious. Get Cage a Golden Raz pronto!

What about "Ow my leg, ow my other leg!"

furry_tom Thu, Jan 11, 2007 at 09:23 AM EST

I'm so pissed off. I went as three hole punch Jim for Halloween when I should have been Nicholas Cage in a bear suit!

Brad in Edmonton Thu, Jan 11, 2007 at 08:33 AM EST

Wow. How did Nic Cage ever win an Oscar? Was it like the least competitive year ever for best actor or something?

t3hdow Thu, Jan 11, 2007 at 06:27 AM EST

I saw that clip a few days ago. Frakkin' hilarious. Especially the bees part.

ana Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 11:20 PM EST

I don't think I've genuinely laughed that hard in years. It took about 30 seconds in, but the bear suit did it. Like the rest of you, I'm hopping onto Netflix now and ordering it up.

Trust me - that clip is all you need. The rest of the movie is... well. It's not so bad, it's good. It's just plain awful.

Ben Joseph Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 10:03 PM EST

To reiterate...

"AHH THE BEES!! NOT THE BEES!!"

Fatima Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 09:59 PM EST

Added to Netflix queue....right....now!

Jack Fear Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 09:18 PM EST

NOT THE BEES!

Aside from the great Adaptation, the last good Nicholas Cage movie was When? How many movies ago?

Vicky Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 08:13 PM EST

Wow that just made my day. Thanks EW! *Thumbs up*

I saw this movie in the theaters with some friends and I was incredibly upset at having spent money on it...that was until about 10 minutes into it when I realized that it was the Comedy Event of 2007! This movie was HIGHLARIOUS! Talladega who?? Nic Cage PUNCHING that girl in the MOUTH made me bust a gut. Thank you for posting and recognizing what I experienced firsthand.

nathan Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 07:45 PM EST

MY EYES!!!!! MY EYES!!!!! That's one of the funnier things I've seen in a long long time, I kinda want to see the movie now.

Brandon Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 07:30 PM EST

hilarious.

Kris Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 06:59 PM EST

Pure Hilarity, good laugh to end the day! Thanks Adam!

AJ flick Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 06:46 PM EST

Um ... the location was really great. Good photography. Other than that, the whole movie should have been torched!!!!

aramis Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 06:46 PM EST

OMG. Nick Cage jackin' some poor witch's bike was SO GTA! Fantastic. If I had known he was in a Bear suit punching out random women, I most certainly would have made a trip to the flickhouse to see it. Ah, well, I guess that's why the PTB invented Netflix.

Neil LaBute is such a great director. What went so wrong here?

Paul U. Wed, Jan 10, 2007 at 05:49 PM EST

That movie was freakin' hilarious! Nic Cage was way campy...more than usual, anyway. "You're all little liars!!!"
