Jason Lewis: Equal-opportunity hottie

151214__jason_l True confessions time: Every Friday afternoon, I spend at least a half-hour trolling the Web looking for an excuse to write about ABC's Sunday-night delight, Brothers & Sisters. Usually, I come away empty-pawed, which means Annie Barrett and I are forced to get creative and work it into our Weekend To-Do List theme. Today, however, it's a different story, because (WOOT!) Smith Jerrod is gonna be Kevin's new boyfriend!!! Wait, that came out wrong, not to mention vaguely unprofessional. Let me try again.

TV Guide's Michael Ausiello reports that Sex and the City hunk Jason Lewis has been cast on Brothers & Sisters as "a closeted soap actor (as if!) who 'befriends' Kevin (Matthew Rhys) at an exercise boot camp." (Better?) Now, I'm not sure I even want to know what an "exercise boot camp" is, let alone see one brought to life on my favorite guilty-pleasure drama, but I do know Lewis is gonna have to bring the chemistry if he wants me to forget adorable caterer Scotty (Luke MacFarlane). I mean, I'm not sure I'm ready to see Kevin and Scotty's upstairs-downstairs romance die yet, are you? And if you feel yourself glazing over reading this, then for cryin' out loud, watch B&S at 10 p.m., Sunday, on ABC. Then we can all operate on the same wavelength. Thank you.

well i'm sorry that you'll see Jason Lewis kissing another man . well you are just a homophobic sexually deprived narrow minded woman who has problems seeing man kissing another man.just watch something else or spend your nights at the bar

Why did they have to ruin things by making him gay? There goes another hot hunk. I am sorry but I for one am not ready to have gay sex or gay kissing scenes shoved down my throat and I am pissed off at ABC for ruining one of my favorite new shows! The only people in the audience who are going to be overjoyed by this new story angle are the gay men out there!

Oz Sat, Dec 9, 2006 at 05:21 PM EST

I just hope Jason Lewis doesn't wear what he has on in that picture up there! And Scotty was better than some closeted soap actor - what a dumb plot development.

Madeleine Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 02:17 PM EST

Was there a new episode on last night? I'm confused, it was repeat in my (Ontario) area and I was bummed. Anyone know was it an original show last night or repeat?!!

junior Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 01:49 PM EST

Hopefully, Kevin won't have anything to do with Jason Lewis' character's coming out because I don't want to see Kevin ruin another perfectly good relationship...

p.s. Isn't Kevin becoming such the manwhore. I love it, I'm just saying.

p.s.s. I love this show too!

roel Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 11:54 AM EST

the absolute guy! woot!

rosario dawson, my arse...

Dave Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 11:42 AM EST

OMG, you totally just made my Monday morning! I love Brothers and Sisters and think they're doing a great job with Kevin's storyline. And the thought of him and Smith Jarrod (er, Jason Lewis) hooking up...Wow, those thoughts are definitely not appropriate for work!

Gretchen Weiners Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 09:18 AM EST

That does call for a big ol' WOOT! What's the deal with new episodes though?? Last night was a repeat as well.

Logan Mon, Dec 4, 2006 at 09:10 AM EST

My local ABC had a telethon last night and no DH or B&S. Was there no new B&S like advertised this week?
ABC needs to add this great show to online veiwing on ABC.com.
I am hooked. It took a few episodes, but I am glad I stuck with it.
New guy to hook up with Kevin is HOT! Bring back Scotty though. Love this cast.

Phil Sat, Dec 2, 2006 at 03:37 PM EST

You have made my weekend! I love Brothers & Sisters and was kinda disappointed it wasn't on last weekend! But this is def. good news! Jason Lewis is HOTTTTTTTTT!!! I can't wait for January now!!

And yeah I def. also have to agree with alot of the other Popwatchers, the show's ensemble cast is now captivating. I'm not a Sally Field fan, but I can attest, that I def. look forward to seeing this show every weekend! Perfect way to end my Sunday night!

Jen Sat, Dec 2, 2006 at 02:16 PM EST

I don't watch this show, but for him, I will DVR. Hot....that's the only word I have for him.

kinglouieXVIII Sat, Dec 2, 2006 at 01:52 PM EST

Word about Sally Field's wig. That thing looks like it may leap of her head and start attacking the rest of the cast!

I'm also really glad Scotty is gone. The character was so whiny and annoying, and his storyline with Kevin was going nowhere fast.

Does anybody know how it's doing in the ratings. I think that in a season or two, this show is gonna be a powerhouse like Grey's or the Housewives.

TorontoTom Sat, Dec 2, 2006 at 10:13 AM EST

WHY doesn't B&S have a weekly 'TV Watch'?!? It's one of the few shows that I watch faithfully. The writing and acting are top notch. Give it a 'Watch'
P.S. Love Kevin's character and the way the gay storyline has been written

moviemadd Sat, Dec 2, 2006 at 12:22 AM EST

So glad 'Scotty' is off the show. He was WEAK! Don't care much for 'Kevin' - can keep hearing the actor's British accent creeping out. I think Jason Lewis is a little too hot for 'Kevin,' but we'll see. And please no more of Sally Field's horrendous wig in the flashback scenes.

D Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 11:54 PM EST

this, among other things, my dear, is why i absolutely love u and annie. b&s started out as a sally field vehicle but now various characters have me hooked despite a 5 a.m. wake up call.

Eric Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 10:11 PM EST

Why couldn't Dave Annable have played the gay brother? He and Jason Lewis together would leave me in a constant state of collapse.

Michael, let's discuss this over multiple cosmos sometime, while our clothes melt away.

Jill Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 09:38 PM EST

Oh...I could watch Jason drink milk for an hour. I LOVE B&S by the way! I just love watching Sally and Rachel every week!

graeme Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 09:37 PM EST

To answer the post about wondering if the show had gotten better since the pilot, MY GOD yes.
I wasn't a big fan of the pilot at all. It was messy, misjointed, and overly dramatic. Save for Flockhart's wonderful performance in the pilot, it did nothing for me.
But I kept watching...and I have never seen such a turnaround for a show. Starting with episode 2 and cementing itself in episode 3, the show quickly became a wonderful drama with many many comedic moments (in the same vein as Grey's) with one of the best ensembles on TV and 2 POWERHOUSE performances by Flockhart and Field every week.

Lene Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 07:26 PM EST

Much as I want Kevin to be happy, I do think he'd be happier with Scotty. I really liked them together and am clearly still bitter about it not working out.

And it's the teensiest bit possible that I'm way too invested in this show. Everyone else raves about Studio 60 and sure, it's good, but B&S? Love it. Obsessively so.

p.s. Bring back Scotty!

Elle Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 06:23 PM EST

I am so excited to have a regular dose of Smith Jarrod again; it has been far, far too long. Would freakin love a three-way cat fight between Smith, Kevin and Scotty. I think Scotty would be delicously jealous. And Smith can just be delicious.

ABC fan Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:57 PM EST

Watched 15 minutes of the pilot and gave up. I had a lot of favorites waiting for viewing on my DVR from earlier in the week. Maybe I'll give it a chance again if it is really that good. If it's not, you WILL be hearing from me.

Also, last week I was wondering who they should have cast as Hunter, Sophia's supposedly perfect boyfriend, on Ugly Betty. The guy they cast wasn't nearly swoon-worthy enough for the hype. But, Brad Pitt is too expensive so I wracked my brain trying to think of an actor who could pull it off. Jason Lewis would have done it. He and McSteamy have that all eyes on them factor.

a fan Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:53 PM EST

Wow! I was lierally just thinking about him yesterday (we won't go into the context, heh-heh) and wondering what had happened to him. I can't wait to see this play out (though I do think Scotty will win out in the end.)

GayJay Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:48 PM EST

they should just have Scotty move in with Kitty and Sally Fields... seriously, right?

Josh Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:45 PM EST

I read he'll have two upcoming love interests. Jason is one... wonder who the other will be. Hot. Thank goodness we're to a point where a gay man can have a love life on TV.

KC Holt Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:38 PM EST

WOOT indeed. And I have to disagree, the whole "I'm rich, you're poor" storyline with Scotty was really tired, glad to see it over. And might I add ... it's frikkin' Smith Jarrod!!!

Vance Fri, Dec 1, 2006 at 05:29 PM EST

Wait, Luke MacFarlane isn't coming back?I'm all good with Jason Lewis on but he better not be a REPLACEMENT for Scotty. A good love traingle would be good too though!
