New 'Lost' shockers: Not what you think

112237__fox_l When Lost returns in February, the castaways and the Others will experience a new kind of temporal displacement, one that can't be explained by the island's mysterious electromagnetic forces. The Oceanic 815 survivors and their Stephen King-reading tormentors will all travel in time one hour into the future -- because ABC is moving the show from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. (Ah, the fearsome power of the American Idol results show!) The network announced today its new Wednesday comedy block, a slate that includes George Lopez, According to Jim, and two new shows debuting on Jan. 3: The Knights of Prosperity (the series formerly known as Let's Rob Mick Jagger) and the David Arquette-Kelly Hu midlife-crisis comedy In Case of Emergency. After all, what better way to whet your appetite for the drama, riddles, and paranoia of Lost than by watching a pair of doofy dads, some inept thieves, and some fallen-on-hard-times yuppies?

In other Lost news, Matthew Fox (pictured) debunked any speculation that the reason he had enough free time to do Saturday Night Live last week is that Jack has been whacked. "I can’t tell you why, but I have had a little reprieve from the show," he acknowledged in an interview with The Boston Herald yesterday. "I hear there’s rumors out there that I’ve been killed off the show. Which I love that. I love the fact that anytime, they’ll take the tiniest little kernel of, Matthew Fox shows up in New York and ‘He’s been killed off Lost!’" He assured the Herald he'd be back in Hawaii soon to resume shooting Lost. "It’s going to be a good year," he said. "There’s some really cool stuff coming up." In other words, Lost-ies, if you turn on your TV at 9 p.m. on Feb. 7 expecting Fox and you see Knights star Donal Logue instead, don't freak out.

I'd prefer to see lost earlier. Gives time to go online and chat. With an 11 end, I'm already tired. A new, funny Lost spoilers site I found is at http://lost-spoilers-blog.blogspot.com/ . I think most people think it's better because they then can watch other shows earlier though.

I really don't care what time Lost is on as long as it doesn't come on during Smallville or Supernatural on Thursdays. I absolutely LOVE Lost. It is a GREAT show. I have been watching it since it began. I usually tape it anyway because I can't hear it over my 3 1/2 year old who should be in bed by then anyway but doesn't go to bed til 11. No matter what I will always watch Lost. Even if I have to go out and buy another vcr.

No!! Not "The Nine"!!!! I love that show!! It can't die!!!! Tim Daly is my life, next the Josh Holloway! Does anyone else think he looks a little like Hugh Jackman?
B the way, 2 months and one day til "Lost" is back!!!

Brian Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 06:12 PM EST

I think Lost will do fine...but the lead ins need to be redone. They need a "heroes" or "medium" lead in...yes I know they are on other networks, but that type of show would be perfect. Even a show like Law and Order might be good.

AJH Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 05:47 PM EST

I am agnostic on the new time. It doesn't really matter to me when it's on or what it's up against (thanks to DVR). Plus, since I live in the midwest, it starts at 9pm now, which isn't that late anyway.

suzanne Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 01:44 PM EST

I know--with little kids and work, I only see things on between 9 and 10.

I've read many interviews with various people on Lost--they go weeks with one line or no action at all. He's got a few weeks off; he also needs to publicize for his new Movie--works out great for him. Maybe he'll be in a place where there's a white christmas.

He is great looking, but that 15-year marriage and two kids is a fantasy killer.

Perhaps I'm old or something, but I can't stay up until 11:00 on a work night! I'm going to have to tape Lost. Won't the later time affect their ratings? Stupid American Idol...

GeeMoney Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 12:59 PM EST

Crap. That's the same hour Project Runway comes on.

Matthew Fox is hot!

This is why I have two VCRs (oops - three).

Moving Lost to 10 is a good idea so it won't go up againt AI -why that is so popular, I truly do not understand. It's pretty much just bad karaoke. I start work at 6:30 AM, so I'll just record and watch Lost later. And Medium. All the CSI shows put me to sleep.

Jakeem Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 12:14 PM EST

I believe ABC is underestimating the popularity of "CSI: New York" on the Tiffany Network. It may be the weakest of the three "CSI" franchises, but it consistently finishes in the Top 10.

La La Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 10:57 AM EST

Matthew Fox is in the new movie "We are Marshall" which comes out around Christmas. I can only imagine he was doing SNL to promote the movie not because he was killed off of Lost.

EP Sato Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 09:51 AM EST

Donal Logue! That cat's been giving me a reason to smile since wayy back. He was particularly fun to watch in "the Tao of Steve". I curse the day that "Grounded for Life" was cancelled and replaced with "The War at home".

Lost is still cool with me, even with the time changes and the over the top emphasis on the absolutely un-charismatic and unsympathetic "Others".

Aron Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 09:48 AM EST

Now im really screwed. I only watched because I go to bed at 10....now I suppose ill record it or something.

marykate Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 09:09 AM EST

I hope that because Matthew Fox has had seom free time, it's because they're going to not focus on him for a while.

Ugh, he's the worst. I hope he and Kate disappear.

asiancolossus Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 08:33 AM EST

I think that the move is definitely to avoid the AI juggernaut, which is going to get bigger this year, probably doing 30 million, my guess. Great idea in theory, whether it works in reality is debatable. Going up against CSI NY and Medium shouldn't provide much competition, CSI NY is the weakest of the three (it doesn't have the momentum of Criminal Minds). And if ABC is going to fail, they might as well do it with unproven comedies instead of pitting one of their big hits against AI, which could knock it down.

Angela Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 07:20 AM EST

Yeah :) Quite glad it will be on later. Lost is 'appointment tv' and dominates my Wednesday nights --now I can actually go out and do a few things before I have to park myself on the couch.

Fatima Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 01:13 AM EST

I must note that Knights of Prosperity is supposed to be really funny, so I wouldn't be so quick to jump in and equate it with the other comedies.

Ephram Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 01:12 AM EST

and that about does it for the nine. Whaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

ABW Wed, Dec 6, 2006 at 12:59 AM EST

I don't think the time change has much to do with the content of the show. I think it has a lot more to do with avoiding a direct hit from the incoming juggernaut known as "American Idol" on Fox.

mccliza Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:57 PM EST

For me, it's a mixed bag. I will miss watching "Lost" with my son--he's 13 and that's just a little too late for bed for him. But I have been really disturbed by how dark and sinister and kind of sadistic the show has become this season, and I think that warrants a later airtime. The dumb and dumber lead-ins, however, will get no sampling from me. I hope ABC doesn't have its hopes up that "Lost's" intelligent audience will watch that stuff.

Richard Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:38 PM EST

Note to NBC: Move Medium one hour forward, starting in February.

bootsycolumbia Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:07 PM EST

I have no problem with Lost airing at 10 (although I'll be bleary-eyed at work on Thursday morning), but can't ABC find a better lead-in than wall to wall comedy crap? What's happening with The Nine??? I really like that show. Does this mean I don't get to see Tim Daley any more? Booooo!!!

ABW Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:05 PM EST

Never mind my question about "The Nine." I just Googled it and saw that it's been put on hiatus, which means it's doomed.

ABW Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 10:00 PM EST

What does this mean for "The Nine," which has had the 10 PM slot until now? Did I miss something, i.e., has it bee cancelled?

blue Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 09:53 PM EST

i agree with junior, i've always wondered why lost wasn't on later. and "typical" sitcoms are not really a mood setter.

JC Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 09:24 PM EST

Booooooh.

I'll have to give up Medium for Lost and that isn't cool.

Stupid ABC comedy crap.

Stupid Tivo box only does one channel at a time because I have a crappy service provider and cannot switch.

junior Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 09:24 PM EST

The new time will let the show get a little darker, which is good because it's mysteries are suited to darker action (murders, sex, etc.) As for airing comedies before it... I'm thinking "Don't we remember what happened to 'Freddie?'"
