Tyra strips because she cares. Or something.

9270__tyra_l Love her or hate her, you've got to admit there's a certain poetry to the way Tyra Banks will do just about anything for ratings -- whether it's going undercover as a homeless person, freaking out over the virtues of Vaseline, or enduring an on-air breast examination (not to check for lumps, of course, but rather to prove that hers are 100% real!). Now, mind you, I didn't say it was high-quality poetry -- as this barely clad sneak-preview of today's panty-party episode of The Tyra Banks Show pointedly illustrates -- but then again, if Tyra can help all of us to better understand what real women are wearing underneath their clothes (and educate us about "the dangers of your underwear"), won't that make this crazy, messed-up world a better place? No? OK, then, there's always "Meth Face Makeovers" to look forward to on Thursday. Seriously. Poetry, PopWatchers, poetry.

I'm a little ashamed to admit that I plan to let tivo record the ep when it airs tonight. Does the Catholic church allow people to go to confession when they watch bad tv?

Ron Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 05:19 PM EST

Yeah,she's super talented.(Roll eyes)LOL!

Michelle Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 04:25 PM EST

Ratings people, ratings!!!! I agree with Anna, Tyra looks like a guy in drag!!! But Tyra is doing stupid things for RATINGS!!!!!

Stiffy Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:49 PM EST

I love Tyra Banks. I love her on America's Next Top Model and this show! I remember the time when she was called a 'f@g enabler' by some 'Christians' on her show and she totally stood up for us! Go Tyra! She's the bomb!

jaime Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:49 PM EST

I have to say that Tyra's really growing on me. She does backflips everyday trying to prove that she's just a real woman, but she's really endearing. I hope her show stays on for a long time.

JillyRo Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:21 PM EST

I agree Anna...her "extra" weight is normal in the real world and her body looks good.

But the awful clothes, gigantic hair and overdone makeup!! Yuck! They gotta go!! And girl needs to lay off the botox on the forehead lately. And rein in her er full-of-herself personality. Actually, that said, ALL of Tyra is annoying.

You mean sweeps isn't over yet?

kenny k Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 12:12 PM EST

Tyra stripping down to her underwear on TV?
I'm already there-- you can Banks on it.

Anna Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 12:01 PM EST

It's not the extra weight that's been bothering me lately on ANTM and I doubt it's bothering her all that much since she's always been proud of being larger than most models. Besides she's probably what? A size 8 now? I just wish she'd lose the bouffant wigs and the makeup slathered on with a trowel. And the ugly clothes.

Mama Mia Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:48 AM EST

Maybe it's just me but...no matter what or how little Tyra wears, girlfriend still looks like a man in drag.

JillyRo Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:46 AM EST

I thought the same, she is trying to dispel the comments she's chubbed out lately on ANTM.

Poor Tyra, it must so exhausting to live in her narcistic head all day long.

Thank you Lora for saying exactly what I was thinking as I read this post!!

Howard Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:10 AM EST

She's stripping because she cares about me (I can tell). She stripped so that there'd be something in the NY Post next to the article about OJ, which nauseates me, to give me some hope for the world. Thank you, Tyra. Thank you for showing you care.

susanarosa Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:50 AM EST

I can't help it, I love Tyra. There's just something about her that is so incredibly real (and it's not just the boobs). She makes me smile.

mon Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:46 AM EST

this is a great guilty pleasure at night...i like that her tears seem sincere unlike a certain media mogul who just seems cold inside.

maybe i'll have my own panty party in her honor!

fredric Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:42 AM EST

They haven't cancelled this yet?

Lora Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:32 AM EST

she's probably stripping to prove she's really not as chunky as she appears on ANTM...is that mean?

Rahul Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:30 AM EST

I need to start watching this show

cj Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:29 AM EST

i hate to say it but i'd probably do the same only i'd try not to be so annoying

Slammy Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:27 AM EST

If Tyra really cared she wouldn't strip. If she really, really cared, she'd just go the hell away.

As campy as Tyra can be at times, you gotta give it to this girl, she knows business. I saw clips of her "panty party" and it's such a rip off of what Oprah would do; but nobody has done it better than Tyra.

Tyra has brought back the ghetto to morning talk shows.

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:04 AM EST

I don't care what people say. Someday I'll get to say to Tyra, in public, "Hey Tyra, you left your toothbrush over at my place again".

While we're at it, I'd also like a pony...
