Three cheers for Xtina on 'CSI: NY'

95837__xtina_l Look, I know that sometimes I'm as predictable as an episode of Ugly Betty, but I hope you'll indulge me for one more round of "Isn't Christina Aguilera Totally Genius?" Word on the street is Xtina's in talks to guest-star in an upcoming episode of CSI: NY, to which I'd like to give a big, heartfelt "Woot!" Not because I'm a huge fan of the show, but more because it's refreshing to see a pop diva with acting aspirations who realizes that it might not be the best course of action to leap directly into a big-screen, big-budget starring vehicle (see Carey, M.; Simpson, J.; Spears, B.). I mean, a gal ought to try to crawl before she enters a marathon, no? Better still, according to TV Guide, Xtina's CSI turn will likely focus on domestic abuse, which happens to be one of the singer's pet causes, and include her music on the soundtrack.

This concludes another round of "Isn't Christina Aguilera Totally Genius?" Feel free to concur (or disagree) in the comments section below.

I actually can't wait to see her in a movie though! I have a feeling that she's a natural at acting.

As a huge fan of CSI:NY, this is somewhat upsetting. Contrary to popular belief, the show's ratings have boosted since Anna Belknap joined the cast in season two, and are still holding strong in season three. (It's the top show in the Wednesdays at 10 slot.)

I'll wait to see how well Christina can act before I judge, however pop starlets don't exactly have a good reputation when it comes to acting, and I'd hate to see stunt casting ruin an episode of this show.

Hey people! Aguilera Fan Here.. She is going to prove too the world that she is true to herself, life, and music. By this I mean, singing wiht a voice that is beautiful absolutely so. She is looking Hot, Sexy, Very Classic, DIRRTY, Cute, Serious, some have said TRANNY. She is however, a married young WOMAN and will prove to be very successful. Try GROUNDBREAKING!

Karen Thu, Nov 16, 2006 at 09:42 AM EST

Good luck to CSI. Aguilera over-poses and over sings. Should be a low point for the show.

i'd love to see christina on ugly betty or scrubs or snl again. she was hilarious the last time. the sex and the city spoof where her samantha admitted to being a man? too funny.

Why do we always compare MARIAH & XTINA AGAIN & AGAIN! They have a 10 year gap difference! MARIAH is already up there and XTINA is still working her way up! STOP COMPARING, they're not at the same level!

Sandra Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 05:24 PM EST

I agree, I'm going to tune in and watch. I've been waiting to see Christina showcase her acting chops since her SNL hosting gig a while back. I'm glad to hear she will have a guest role on CSI.

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 04:48 PM EST

She should cameo on Ugly Betty as Betty's hot Ecuadorian cousin. Of course, she'd have to go with darker hair then...

JillyRo Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 04:31 PM EST

I hope she ditches that ugly, overly-bleached and damaged hair, red lipstick and 10 pounds of make-up. Yuck. Cuz until she does that, i don't buy her in ANY acting role.

Like the voice, but it's time Christina gets a makeover.

She is probably doing CSI NY because of the subject matter not the ratings. Its an important subject matter that she holds dear and even if it reaches the shows regular audience (no matter what the size), the audience can take something away from it.

Umm.... Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 03:36 PM EST

Not sure if she's a genius, I actually think the choice of show is kinda bad...like why CSI: NY? She should go on Grey's Anatomy as a victim of domestic abuse, cuz that shows not so ghetto, like CSI: NY isn't exactly regarded as the best show on T.V., which GA is (to some). OR DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES!!!!!! SHE SHOULD GO ON THAT NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

While I'm not the biggest Xtina fan musically, I do appreciate any celeb who actually thinks about their career instead of doing whatever their agents tell them to do. After watching the "Hurt" video, I could tell that Christina, excuse you, wants to be a serious actress. "CSI:NY" is a top-rated show so, way to go. Don't hate TV, remember, that's where Janet started.

Anna Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 03:10 PM EST

i like her and all, but csi:ny? k.fed and danny bonaducci managed to make it on the worthwile leg of the trio.

Juile Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 02:50 PM EST

I love her new album but I have to say that I wish she had her own look instead of trying to be something she's not. I really don't think she's as classy as she let's on, I mean come on not too long ago she had that dirty look and know she's changed, I don't buy it for a minute.

jaime Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:45 PM EST

I think this is probably the one thing that separates her from Mariah. Start small, build it up from there. But what's gonna be "big" for her then? CSI: Miami? Two and a Half Men? I really can't see her holding her own in Robert Alman or Steven Speilberg's next movie.

edd Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:25 PM EST

It is actually a good move for Xtina to do the TV first, this way she'll veer away from the shadow of following the footsteps of Mariah Carey. It's not that Mariah is not good but Mariah had established her image as a pop diva extraordinaire. Mariah wants to branch out too in the movie world, she did Glitter & that movie with Mira Sorvino but she has a lot to prove in this field. I guess its time for Xtina to establish her own path as a performer. Goodluck to her!

Shelby Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 01:04 PM EST

I wouldn't really call it "genius". Just that she's seen what's happened to those other singers and wants to not have the pressure of performing in a whole movie, rather be in just a few scenes. It's a very obvious move, that people will applaud...hence these posts below.

Also, I don't buy her "acting", as her video for Hurt is very Acting Studio 101, with the fake tear (or glitter?) on her cheek.

Although Madonna is not known for her acting, I think she has the best acting chops, what with her SNL skits, movies, videos, etc. She just found it difficult for the audience to differentiate between her persona and her characters...not her fault-our fault. That is why she was more believable in her early roles and Evita.

After seeing her on SNL (last year) doing Samantha from Sex in the City...she can be on any show, she actually has talent andis really quite funny.
Good for her not jumping into the big screen and having the publicity machine rache it up to 11 to make people interested....she is getting her acting chops...what a rare thing for a celebrity to do these days...actually work at something! Kudos.

Ceballos Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:54 AM EST

I think that, if she wanted to, Xtina (or is it now ex-Xtina?) could have a very nice career ahead of herself acting, and this is a smart move toward that.

I LOVED her hosting SNL a few years ago and her impersonation of Kim Cattrall's Samantha on a "Sex and the City" skit.

"Actually, I'm a dude."

Nancy Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:39 AM EST

Totally agree. Her newest CD should get nominated for a Grammy (and I mean Album of the Year). Keep singing her praises!

Ed Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:34 AM EST

Slezak, loving you for loving Xtina in this whole love-fest blog!

brandonk Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:24 AM EST

I concur! I'm not going to watch the show if she does it, but good for her anyway. Also, her duet with Tony Bennett was great...not that that comes as a surprise to anyone.

Mozz Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 11:08 AM EST

as a screenwriter, who is just in pre-production to direct and independent, I have Christina Aguilera in my dream list of actors I'd love to work with someday. Not only did I know she would make the transfer to the acting world, but I my instict tells me she will be the one and only one of that group of singers to rake in awards for it. Mrs. Aguilera, Total Genius.

Lora Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:53 AM EST

It took me awhile, but I must agree...Xtina IS totally genius.

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 10:45 AM EST

Of the three hottie Blonde singers, I've always thought that Britney could dance, Jessica could jiggle, but only X-ina could actually sing. I'm not always the biggest fan of her outfit choices, but think she's got some good moments. Her, Gwen Stefani and Missy Misdemeanor need to get together and jam out some bumpin' beats next...

PS X-ina's duet with Tony Bennet was the Sh*T!
