Prince will Lovesexy Vegas long time

94359__prince_l Watch your back, Wayne Newton: Prince is eyeing your crown. His Half-nakedness will appear three times a week at the new Vegas club 3121, an engagement that will run "indefinitely," according to a press rep.

Prince as a long-running Vegas act... it's not what I would've predicted. On the other hand, I've always wanted to eat rubbery steak and watch Prince simultaneously. I get the feeling it's not that sort of club, but I'm hoping they'll eventually go the supper-and-floor-show route. See, I have this dream where Prince comes by my table and asks me how I like the steak, and I say I like it fine, and then he starts inexplicably humping it to the strains of "Seven."

Danke schoen, Prince. You're taking it to the people. And, in my opinion, the average Vegas tourist needs a little more revolution in his life.

By the way that Chapelle's Show clip is hilarious!!

Jasper Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 09:58 PM EST

3121 is the name of his latest album so I'm sure he owns the joint at least partially. I think he's savvy about how he likes to bring his music to his fans. I think it's an awesome idea, especially since I'm in LA! I'm totally planning a Vegas weekend and soon. I think it'd be cool now if Bowie would do Vegas.

Finally, a good reason to visit Vegas!

mike Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 06:15 PM EST

Grandpa's Vegas shows have moved to Branson, Mo. Where exactly is Club 3121? Is it in a Casino on the Strip?

DUDE! First I hear that a ballot initiative's is up next Tuesday that would essentially legalize Mary Jane in Nevada, and now Prince is heading down there? Looks like my planned trip to Amsterdam's getting cancelled and that flight's now going to Vegas baby, Vegas!

Pedro Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 05:37 PM EST

Vegas will adjust to Prince. Prince will not adjust to Vegas.

Wonder if there is a strong Jehovah Witness population out there? He wouldn't live somewhere without having a place worship nearby...he built one next to his Mpls., MN studio.

scott brown - you're terrific.

Karen Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:33 PM EST

I just got home from there - why couldn't this be in place already?

Ceballos Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:14 PM EST

If the guy can go on an American Idol stage and (unironically) rock the house, Vegas should be no problem.

John Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:10 PM EST

You can't equate Prince to a "Vegas act". Think about it. The crowds will be different due to tourists. He doesn't have to go on the road. Saves time money and wear and tear. Looking forward to my next Vegas trip.

i love you scott brown

As a long-time Prince fan, I have difficulty envisioning him doing the Vegas thing. However, despite the Wayne Newton references I have a feeling that this will not be your grandpa's Vegas show. It actually made me consider (even if just momentarily) heading out there to Sin City.

This surprise me when I first heard about it. It looks like I'm finally going to have to make a trip to Vegas, assuming I can get tickets.

Joe C Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 02:12 PM EST

I finally have a reason to go to Vegas. Prince rules no matter where he plays a concert.

JillyRo Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:34 PM EST

I'm surprised by this, Prince has always been so below the radar and Vegas is anything but.

But guess even Prince's large money pot is getting smaller and he needs to fill it up again.

I'm with Ed on the Madonna casino project. She has enough connections in the business that I'm sure she could also bring us Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears (sans Kevin, please).

Ed Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:21 PM EST

I agree with Sally, Prince doesn't do things on the fly.

On the other hand, Vages is becoming a great destintation place for seasoned singers. Look at the success Celine has had; since day one, they predicted she would flop after a year. Three years later and one more added due to popularity her tickets are more expensive than when I first went.

Madonna needs to have her own casino. On her days off she'll showcase all her old Maverick acts: Alanis, Michelle Branch and that Techno group which brought us Smack your B*tch Up.

Sally Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 12:54 PM EST

He probably owns part of the club, otherwise, he wouldn't put that much time in it.

Bertie Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 12:46 PM EST

I live in Vegas and I really hope he comes here. I grew up watching him and I think he's still great.
