Jessica Simpson remaking 'Working Girl'? A thousand times, no!

Nov 1, 2006, 04:32 PM | by Scott Brown

Categories: Film

152210__girl_l At this point, Hollywood has furnished so many signs of the Apocalypse, the Apocalypse has only itself to blame for not actually happening. And yet, there’s always room for one more portent. Here it is, folks, and it’s a biggie: Jessica Friggin’ Simpson (pictured, right) is angling to star in a Working Girl remake. "I’m so excited about it," she says, "People are going to laugh."

Yes they will, Simpsie. They may cry, too. I know I get a little misty when I think of my favorite shoulder-padded, Carly Simon-driven fempowerment fantasy vitiated by your bubbleheadedness. This is... frankly, unnatural. There’s already been one "homage" to the 1988 Melanie Griffith (left) classic (seen here in the original Czech), the loathsome Little Black Book. Do we really need another demonstration of classical feminism’s devolution?

You tell me, Popwatchers. You tell me. Meanwhile, I'll call Ashton Kutcher and see if he's ready to stpe into Harrison Ford's shoes. Verily, we live in diminished times.

Repetitive bunch in here.
what I'd like to know is how in the hell will she pull off her latest mission, as a "Country" music singer?

Kim Mon, Nov 26, 2007 at 01:32 AM EST

Yes! Now all I need is Will Smith to be recast in Charleton Heston's role in Omega Man. Oh wait, he is in I am Legend. Hopefully, Hollywood will remake Ben Hur with Polly Shore in the lead. Hey buddddy!

Bobbie Thu, Dec 14, 2006 at 02:49 PM EST

I refuse to see any movie with Jessica Simpson in it. I cannot believe Hollywood is actually giving the girl a paycheck to be in a movie. Most people have to have talent or go to acting school to star in a movie. I think Jessica's dad, Joe has to be sleeping with the producers. It is well known Jessica can't even remember her lines for the movie. The girl is only famous thanks to tabloids, other than that she has no contribution to society. I just hope no one goes to see the movie, that way she might get the hint and her "famous" co-stars will think twice when it comes to starring with her.

Cassie Tue, Dec 5, 2006 at 02:06 PM EST

Please God no!!! Someone please pull her contract. She can't sing. She can't act. Her father is a money driven psycho! Whatever happened to being "called" to the ministry - not doing it as a fill in to help pay for her career. She's awful! I can't stand to hear her voice anymore! It drives me insane. I actually used to like her. When I saw the clip of her singing "9 to 5", I felt really bad for Dolly Parton. Dolly is just too nice to tell Jessica the truth - SHE CANNOT SING AT ALL. She's just too much now. I really hope they'll look around for another actress to play in this movie. Although I will agree that it's time to quit remaking movies and start making more original movies again.

ninab. Mon, Nov 13, 2006 at 02:50 PM EST

I have no problem with Jessica Simpson, but clearly her career is over. Sure she makes a lot of money, but her movies suck, her albums sales are dropping rapidly. She just sold under 300,000 copies and her album has been out how long, for someone like her those albums sales are depressing. This remake is going to be just as bad as her other movies. Jessica Simpson just needs to stop whatever she's doing and find out a way to get back on her game because her career is going nowhere.

Kristin Fri, Nov 10, 2006 at 04:38 PM EST

It could be worse, Jesscia could be playing the part of Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miners Daughter." The producer of "Working Girl/Blonde Ambition" is the guy that bought Nick and Jessica's house when they sold it. So, he obviously has some obsession issues. Her movies are seen because A) her showing off her amazing body, and B) people are really coming to see her co-stars. Luke Wilson will be in this one, so he might be able to carry her through, and people will go to see him.I would still like to see Reese Witherspoon, Rachel McAdams, or Anne Hathaway in this movie, if it must be remade. However, what is done is done.

dma69 Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 04:29 PM EST

Susan honey, you sound like an immature girl that's in desperate need of a reality check. We who don't like the blonde nincompoop that you obviously admire are not jealous. What's there to be jealous of? A young bottle blonde "singer" that merely screams her songs, looks constipated when she speaks, can't act nor can she pick good films to "act" in, writes or co-writes songs that look like bad high school poetry, kicks hunky sensible hubby to the curb, pimped...I mean, managed by her ex-preacher daddy who can't stop talking about her sex life (or lackthereof) or her well-endowed body parts.

So, again Susan, what's there to be jealous of? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Now go home, put on some Joni Mitchell, and you'll feel a lot better.

Timmy Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:41 PM EST

P-ew....what's that awful smell?? Bad tuna or chicken??

No, that funky and rancid smell is just Jessica Simpson's "career" that expired past its due date.

JillyRo Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:35 PM EST

Susan...hmm, so testy (Susan is an alias perhaps for Papa Joe, Ashely or Jessica herself?). If not, you wouldn't know talent if it smacked you in the face.

Cuz really, the ONLY people who speak highly of Chestica Simpleton are her PR people or her family. Ask around, I have NEVER, EVER met even ONE person who likes this talentless, overexposed, media-whore, desperate-for-fame, gal. Maybe during her Newlyweds days, but now...nobody.

Stephanie Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:13 PM EST

Susan,

Try this experiment. If you have a stereo or a home entertainment system, one of the switches should allow you to turn off the musical accompaniment so that you can hear just the vocals. After you do that then you can turn back on the music. I guarentee that there is a huge difference even if the sound crew tweeked her voice. We are not jealous, just spoiled because some of us went to live shows where you can tell who can really sing. Ex: Eric Clapton.

Kayla Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 02:55 PM EST

Jessica Simpson's 15 minutes are up. The fact that only ONE POSTER came to her rescue so far should be enough proof of Jessy's fame is gone. She was a somebody when she was with Nick, now that he has moved on with his life, and that her movies have bombed at the box office, she has been explosed for the untalented person she really is. Maybe she could reinvent herself by getting one of the noses her sister discarded, and start over again...

elle Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 02:53 PM EST

I'm not here to trash Jessica Simpson. While far from being my favorite actress, she carved a niche for herself with a can of tuna and not many people can say that. "Working Girl" happens to be one of my favorite movies. When I read the post of Jessica Simpson wanting to star in a remake of it, I couldn't help but ask two questions: (1)Why would anyone make a remake of a movie that is the best possible portrayal already? and (2) Why the hell would you choose Jessica Simpson? I do believe the girl has talents. Tits aside, she's got some powerfull pipes and a keen business sense when it comes to cross promotion (ie: releasing an album called "In This Skin" while launching a skin care line called "Dessert Treats", divorcing hubby Nick Lachey so she go on to serial date Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Johhny Knoxville and John Mayer (just kidding!) and then release an album called "A Public Affair"). Such laudable talents aside, this girl's idea of method acting involves donning a blue vest and prosthetic ears. I'm sorry to be the one to break it to you but Marlon Brando called and he wants both back.

susan Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 02:48 PM EST

Jessica is such a great singer & she's so adorable & talented. She will do a great job. So stop the bashing & get a job people. JEOLOUSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

waaaaaaaa Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 02:14 PM EST

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
say it ain't so. Can't she just stick to her infomercials and cheesey songs? Why ruin one of the great movies?

what's next? Jessica as Scarlett O'Hara?

Cliff Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:49 PM EST

Can we please stop using the frequency of appearing in Us Weekly as an accurate Q rating of who the public does and doesn't want to see in movies? Melanie Griffith's character succeeded in Working Girl because she was SMART. Has Jessica seen the movie? She might actually be smart in real life, but does anyone believe she can portray that intelligence in a movie? Jeez, it was directed by Mike Nichols, for crying out loud. Nominated for Best Picture. Doesn't it have cred enough to garner a remake with a real actor? Or better yet, no remake at all? Ever?

Rose Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:47 PM EST

I saw about 10 minutes of the Dukes of Hazzard on cable last week. Yikes! It was painfully bad! It made the television show look downright Shakespearean by comparission. Jessica Simpson looked like she was struggling to read her cue cards, the most benign line readings were soooo slooooow! I'll admit that I felt a little embarassed for her, I mean she doesn't seem like a bad person, just an untalented person!

Michelle Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:43 PM EST

Michael Bay sooo better hire her for his remake of "The Birds."

Todd Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 01:23 PM EST

Maybe she meant she was remaking WORKING GIRLS the movie about prostitutes also from the eighties. If it is a porno version then she can really let her "talent" (implants) show. But I don't think she can even act well enough for a porno movie, maybe if they dub that annoying voice.

JillyRo Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 12:49 PM EST

I just wish people would STOP buying what she is selling, be it movies, tv, CDs, whatever! Who are these people?!!!

I can't believe Hollywood hasn't caught on to how much the public can't stand this untalented girl. Do they listen at all to the public?!!! Her biggest career boost was being married and that is over, so should her career be.

cinephile Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 12:35 PM EST

Oh, please-- Working Girl is an overrated bit of antifeminist claptrap, where women stab each other in the back for jobs and relationships, and Sigourney Weaver's "comeuppance" comes in the form of a snide joke about her butt. I don't think jessica simpson is meryl streep, either, but neither was Melanie "A Stranger Among Us Shining Through the Milk Money" Griffith, and it's not like Simpson is remaking Citizen Kane. To me, a greater "sign of the apocalypse" is the continued success of heroes, or maybe the fact that owen gleiberman still has a job.

dee Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 12:27 PM EST

Oh dear. I'm not one to bash celebrities b/c I think, well at least they have the guts to put themselves out there while the rest of us criticize them in anonymity. However, Working Girl was a very good movie (I can still remember the soundtrack & Joan Cusack's wonderfully zany performance) and Melanie Griffith was excellent in the part. Weren't there like oscar noms that came out of this movie? This part should be given to an actress w/ range. Griffith is deceptively silly, w/ her little girl voice, while still being able to act. In the same way, Marilyn Monroe was deceptively a blonde bombshell, but who could actually act. If Simpson takes the part, I hope that works hard enough to surprise us.

Caralinda Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 11:55 AM EST

Question. How many of her movies does this woman need to see bomb at the box office, before she realizes she cannot act? With her FIRST two "successes" under her belt already, she should have gotten a clue by now.... oh, wait...... I just remembered, this is Jessica Simpson we are talking about, and she is CLUELESS! Maybe this once, father does not know best....

Ep Sato Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 11:54 AM EST

Aston Kutcher in the role of Spiccoli... Jessica Simpson in Phoebe Cates role, NO!!!!!!!!!

Stephanie Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 11:30 AM EST

Just be thankful that Fast Times at Ridgemont High is not being remade. If it did, it would have two versions like American Pie to avoid an NC-17 rating.

dma69 Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 11:27 AM EST

Jesus, Mary, Joseph! Why is this industry still keeping Jessica Simpson employed? There are thousands of starving actresses waiting for their big break who are a million times more talented than her. She can't sing nor act. Her albums don't sell. Some of her songs somehow get airplay on Top 40 radio but I'll be damned if I can even name one. She ruins cover songs. Her movies flop. I saw her (unintentionally) last night in a DirecTV ad playing Daisy Duke and she still can't act her way out of a paper bag. Face it. The only reason she'll still around is because of one thing and one thing only: her (overexsposed) personal life. We know about her sex life or lackthrereof, who she's dating or not dating, that she saved herself for marriage, her marriage ended, etc. Her personal life IS her career. Jessica, her equially untalented sister, their clueless mother, and their Pimp Daddy need to go away...forever!!!

As for a Working Girl remake, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Shelby Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 10:45 AM EST

Why is she still able to work in Hollywood? She has no talent and flops at the box office as well as the music charts-rightly so I might add.

Stephanie Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 10:18 AM EST

Tiff, the only person that could fit into Melanies shoes is Reese since Legally Blonde had a similar tone. But she is going through a bad time now so, that's pretty much it for her right now.

As for lip synching, the Top of the Pops story was recently showed in the U.S.. The hosts pointed out that some of the artists who performed on the show really could not sing live, they just looked good. Infact during the documentary one artist said that she did not sound good live. During a few seasons, mostly because of the Milli- Vanilli scandal, artists were required to sing live. Eventually they went back to the American Bandstand/Solid Gold format of singing with tape. Jess'es voice is fixed by a sound studio. Maybe she can hit the high notes, but when she was on the Today show a while back, it did not appear to be the case. She was over-acting in the Dukes of Hazzard. I could not tell if that was supposed to be Daisy or Ellie May Clampett.

Tiffany Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 09:29 AM EST

I don't mind that they are re-making Working Girl, even if it is one of my all-time favorite 80's movies. I just wish that they had picked another actress. Obviously this movie is going to tank because Jessica is the worst actress as evident by her two horrendous appearances in Employee of the Month and Dukes of Hazzard. That girl is not ready to carry a movie unless it's a straight-to-video monstrosity. Melanie Griffith deserves better than Jessica Simpson as her successor.

Jim Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 08:46 AM EST

All i can say is EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW>

Please, no. This agnostic will pray if that's what it takes.

Dawn Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 08:36 AM EST

This is not happening? For the love of God, Mary and Jesus stop this movie from being made?! Jess and Ashley need to go away forever Working girl is a great movie on its own. Do not let Jess" I can't act or sing my way out of a paperbag" Simpson anywhere near this movie!!!!!

glimmertwins Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 08:33 AM EST

What is this Hollywood obsession with remakes? Built-in audiences, they think? For what? Junky rehashes of great films that have no business being remade, like "Psycho," or "Working Girl." Somebbody needs a reality check.

Angela Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 07:50 AM EST

'Working Girl' is a great movie, from 1988, not '85. So good, there really is no reason to remake it.

Sally in Chicago Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 05:49 AM EST

No friggin way is she going to star in a remake of Working Girl. God forgive anyone who pays to see it.

Todd Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 03:30 AM EST

Why does this "woman" or and her lip syncing sister still get work? WHY? Please stop going to her movies and buying her CD's MAKE THEM GO AWAY!!! Why does EW cover them at all? There are thousands of talented actors/singers out there...STOP COVERING THESE UNTALENTED BREAST IMPLANTS!!!
Please can't she just do a porn version instead.

jake Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 11:09 PM EST

man do I feel old, I feel like working girl is just yesterday (1985), shouldn't they be making remakes of movies from the 60's or something? What's next Back to the future, romancing the stone, ET?

JL Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 09:42 PM EST

Didn't they learn anything from her last bomb???
BAD idea--the same way a prequel to FLETCH and remake of REVENGE OF THE NERDS is bad. Hollywood--if you're going to ruin these classics please wait until I'm older and senile so I'm unaware. you're killing my youth here...

Denise Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 08:55 PM EST

OH NO WAY!! That is just wrong!! That is a classic and they should just leave it that way. Jessica honey you could never fill Melaine's shoes.

Ed Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 08:40 PM EST

NO WAY!

There is no way someone could do a better job than Segorny Weaver.

"...remember Tess, it's a two way street".

"...got that Bess"?

"...you read W"?

"...if you want to be taken seriously, you need serious hair".

"...just because I dance in my underwear, doesn't make me Madonna, never will".

"...be me, be me, by my secretary"?

Liz Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 08:02 PM EST

God help us all!

Some Guy Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:51 PM EST

Yeah, im sick of the remakes too. I dont understand why they keep making them but what can you do. Its as if Hollywood ran out of ideas or they dont like taking chances anymore. It sucks.

mike Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:42 PM EST

The point is we don't need a remake of Working Girl. There is a very good version at blockbuster. We need fresh original screenplays instead of more retreads. They don't work no matter who stars.

B Ro Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:28 PM EST

Why doesn't Melanie Griffith star in the remake l? She needs a hit just as bad as Jessica does!

Some Guy Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:09 PM EST

You're right Mike. Ooopsies. Medies no takie baddie poo. Oh and im 3. Im just really old at heart.

And i dont care if you bash her but at least give a good reason. You gave a good reason. You dont think she can act and you even gave examples. You didnt call her uncalled for, ficticious names or anything. You had something smart to say. I applaud that. My disgusting comments where aimed at those who for no reason bashed Jessica as a human being. I stated that before but those comments got taken down. Gee i wonder why! Me oh my!

Stephanie Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:08 PM EST

Does anyone know who this guy is? I just had an interesting debate with David Hinckley a critic from the NY Daily News, and I am sure that he would have said that "some guy" has the hearing of that old guy from the Hee Haw reruns.

Epitrite! You Jello Pudding for brains ignoramus! Get it right! Epititis. You are just as funny as Buckstar (Last Comic Standing).

mike Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 07:00 PM EST

Some Guy- Your meds do you no good, if you don't take them.

TRG Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:56 PM EST

Just for the record - How old is Some Guy, who is writing on here? 10? Your comments might be taken seriously if you actually wrote something coherent and intelligent. I wish kids would get off this blog.

P.S. Jessica Simpson has proven through her prior 2 movies, that she cannot act. It has nothing to do with "jealousy". The proof is in the pudding. Go on over to her website if you can't handle criticism.

Oops I didn't do it Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:55 PM EST

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think somewhere my mother is crying out in horror and she doesn't know why ...

ms.c. Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:37 PM EST

No. This is just not right.

Jessica should stick with singing.

Mary Ann Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:36 PM EST

I only hope that she invested her money well. With the advent of DVD, these movies are "new" to this generation and it's too early to make re-makes. My 20-year old daughter dressed as Tom Cruise in "Risky Business" for Halloween. The point I'm trying to make is that the originals of these movies are being seen by the younger generation - don't subject them to bad remakes. Can you imagine anyone re-making "Risky Business", "The Breakfast Club", or any other great movies from the 80's. It's TOO SOON. And please if they do re-make it, get some talent - this girl does not belong in the movies.

Some Guy Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:30 PM EST

Dear Stephiepoo,
See at least you are getting somewhere with your comment. But i wouldnt jump to say her voice is fixed to the point where its not her singing. Shes done plenty of live performances and shes sounded great. And yes there have been times when shes sounded pretty bad i must admit. I will also admit that the problem i have with her as a performer is that she stands there and shakes her head and hands a lot and makes really ugly faces. Shes a pretty girl yet sometimes she goes out of her way to seem unnatractive. As for her acting, i think if she was led by the right team she can give a good/decent performance. Now about her as a person... I dont know her so i cant comment. You might say shes annoying and i guess your have your reasons since you know her so well.

P.S. This is for Epetitus C. I dont mind if you just got off my mom. Shes single and shes entitled do whatever she wants with her body. You better have her back at a decent hour though or at least have her call me. I dont like to worry.

P.P.S. For Steph. I was actually recently hit by a car. It was a hit and run and i was on my bicycle. You're pretty good Steph. You Miss Cleo you. Im gonna call you Miss Clesteph from now on. Doesnt that just roll off your tongue?

Oh and no im not on meds. I'eve never even used drugs. Im just naturally like this. WEEEEE!

JenJen Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:21 PM EST

WHY DOESN'T SHE GET IT??? No one wants to see her in movies! She is NOT an actress! I think she is stressing because her movies flop, her album flopped, and she is running out of ways to stay famous. Honey, just fading away with a little dignity still intact is the best way to go. Don't struggle so much to hold on to an entertainment career. Just let it go.

Stephanie Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:14 PM EST

Ep: lol!

Look, clearly we know that when he was in his mothers womb, she was hit by twelve parked cars.

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:11 PM EST

Some Guy, we should get off the topic of mothers, especially since I just got off yours.

Stephanie Travitsky Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:07 PM EST

Some Guy,

We don't know her but some record producer thought that she has a good voice...that could be fixed through the miracle of the sound studio. While we should not judge without judging ourselves, just so you know that the point of entertainment is to ENTERTAIN not annoy. Would you want Fran Drescher to play Mable from the Pirates of Penzance? I didn't think so.

Dominique L. Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:04 PM EST

Excuse me while I go vomit...

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:03 PM EST

"Please get your tubes tied. We dont need anymore idiots like you around. And if you have kids, give them up for adoption. Your eggs are rotten, as rotten as your heart. May you be stricken with an STD that takes away your ability to have children!"
"I also think too many kiddies like talk so much poop they might as well get a job as an outhouse."
"YALL BE JEALOUS BEACHES! GO RICKY, GO RICKY, GO RICKY!"
"You foul beast get some morals. Dont pick sides on something you know nothing about except for what you've been fed. Go drown in a pool filled with vomit you animal!"

Clearly, "some guy" picked the wrong day to get off prozac.

daducer Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 06:00 PM EST

Why is there a picture of Sandra Bernhard next to Melanie Griffith?

RBlues Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:59 PM EST

Why do they insist on remaking movies so soon? If we want to see "Working Girl" we can rent it. I don't mind if they occaisonally(sp?) remake the old classics with a more current twist but there is NO reason to do this movie.

Michelle Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:53 PM EST

Forget Harrison Ford, I just want to know who is going to be able to fill the shoes of Alec Baldwin or Joan Cusack? I'm no huge Melanie Griffith fan, but she does have a sweet vulnerability in this movie and while Ms. Simpson seems like a nice girl, at least Griffith can act, er, sometimes, when given good direction.

Then again, WHO did direct those ProActiv commercials??

randys Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:53 PM EST

When oh! when is someone going to tell this girl she can't sing, she can't act, she has a lousy track record
with men and she has bad skin? Her 15 minutes are so over and now it's time to get that minimum wage job she
is qualified for.

randys Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:52 PM EST

Stephanie Travitsky Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:42 PM EST

"Raccoon Eyes, I look like Ashton Kutcher in drag" Simpson as Tess McGill is an insult! A complete and utter insult to every single hard working woman, ESPECIALLY in New York!! Griffiths was the only person who could fit into those shoes, and no one else.

CJ Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:42 PM EST

No. No. No. When are producers going to realize that this woman's 15 minutes of fame are up? Wasn't her self-embarassing Daisy Duke and her "success" with 'Employee of the Month' enough to prove that Jessica Simpson (a.k.a. Ms. Chicken or Tuna) is no actress? She certainly has enough attributes to appear in Playboy mag, she may have a nice voice, but so do millions of others. Ms. Simpson is a classless, talentless and brainless individual, and she should not continue to be impossed on us, especially in a remake of a movie that had nothing wrong with it. "If it works, don't fix it"..... As for Ms. Simpson, I wish her well, but don't care to see any of her movies.

meredith Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:19 PM EST

This is so sad! Working Girl (along with Baby Boom and Big Business) is a classic 80s NYC working woman movie! How can they remake it and make it?? With Jessica Simpson?? NO WAY.

Simon Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:09 PM EST

Why does Hollywood remake movies that should not be remade? Working Girl works with Melanie, Harrison and Sigourney. It will not work as a 2007 remake!

Some Guy Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:08 PM EST

No, its not Joe. Joe is busy at the moment but would you like to leave him a message? Tee hee hee. I just think some people are too willing to be evil when theres no need to be. I also think too many kiddies like talk so much poop they might as well get a job as an outhouse. If you dont know the truth then why speak like you do? Dont bees haten mmmkay? YALL BE JEALOUS BEACHES! GO RICKY, GO RICKY, GO RICKY!

Wow, "some guy", that was harsh. Is that you Joe Simpson? Sensitive much?

Ep Sato Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:01 PM EST

I wonder how we'd all feel if we thought that tuna was a bird and told the whole country how we felt. Or how we'd feel if we filmed a voyeuristic show about our married personal lives but then later complained that the media paid too much attention to us.

Celebrities who want to entertain us at work but stay private at play usually do. Celebrities who invite the public into their lives by turning into a circus freakshow have no right to whine about it when their publicity seeking creation turns into Frankenstein's monster.

Some Guy Wed, Nov 1, 2006 at 05:00 PM EST

No you dramatic cow hes not lying. This has been news for ages. Luke Wilson is supposed to be in it as well. You must live under a rock or in a cave you Gollum looken mess. If you hate the idea so much at least give a reason. Dont go into these stupid dramatics and state the same thing at least eight different ways. We get it you broken record, we get it.

Isn't it too early for the remake of a 1988 movie? Or isn't there a law that prohibits one to remake a movie this early - with such a BAD actress? Could we make one up just for this?

Please, say it aint't so. She's even awful in her own music videos...

Scott, that's not very nice. April 1 isn't for a few more months....

This IS an April fools joke, right? Mr. Brown, PLEASE tell us this is as true as that time I told everyone that some Iranian terrorists had taken over the local Sizzler (See? Good BS. It was actually what Chunk got called out for saying to the cops in "Goonies").

Jessica Simpson in a remade working girl? I don't know why this bugs me so much, but a chill went up my spine as those words flashed accross my screen. This is AWFUL news. Say it ain't so Scott! Please man, just one post that says "Ha ha you suckas the main man was just kidding!" PLEASE?!!!??!!??!!?!

Oh no what a stupid comment. Team Nick! Wooo! Are you for real? I wonder if your sorry butt is married or if you have a significant other. I wonder how you would feel if you were publicly bashed. I wonder how you would feel if lies were made up about you along with the truth. I wonder what a public break up would do to your state of mind. Probably nothing since you have a frozen rock for a heart. You foul beast get some morals. Dont pick sides on something you know nothing about except for what you've been fed. Go drown in a pool filled with vomit you animal!

The Hollywood remaking machine is getting a little out of control. Actually, a lot.

How long before "the powers that be" realize that nobody likes Jessica Simpson. Some of us may have enjoyed her schtick when she was Mrs. Lachey, but definitely NOT on her own.

Go Team Nick!

Maybe if someone usefull was there to guide her she could do a good job. I think some of the people around her now kiss her butt so much that even when they see her do something awefull they tell her shes doing great. I mean shes surrounded by family and friends, how much honesty could she possibly be getting? Did you listen to her CD? Did you see her in the two movies shes done? Whos telling her that what shes doing is great? Anyway, hopefully she will have a great cast around her and a great director. Maybe that will bring out the best in her.

Yes, let's please not do that.

She's so good on those ProActiv commercials that I'm sure she could pull this off. Not.
