'He who made kittens...': Cat care tips from Jethro Tull

153455__kitten_l Good news, kitties! Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson has penned a lengthy essay on your proper care and feeding and posted it on the JT website! (Thanks to Stereogum for the heads-up, and to EW Associate Picture Editor Katy Caldwell for this photo of Prudence Pulitzer Caldwell.)

I know what you're thinking, kitties: "But Whitney, does this mean that he is no longer available to blow our minds with his special mix of Celtic folk music and cutting, social-critique lyricism?" Never fear, my furry friends: the Tull have been out on an acoustic tour of Northern Europe, and if only you had been able to mew your way to Helsinki, Finland, last night, you would already know that.

What? Don't cry, kitties! Anderson will be back out on the road in no time. Meanwhile, take heart in the fact that he gets it -- check out this passage:

Picking kittens (or cats) by the scruff of the neck may seem to some like the traditional way to handle your pet. This is really not a good idea. They hate it!

You're telling me that doesn't blow your mind, fluffies? Sigh. All right. Here, then, are a couple sweet video tracks for you. They will have to do. I cannot get a saucer of sweet milk through the Internets.

Jethro Tull - "Kashmir" cover, a.k.a. "The Most Prog-Rockiest Video Of All Time"

Ilene,

I KNOW Whitney doesn't choose the songs in those top 10 lists. I KNOW they're the top 10 songs of the week from the Billboard charts. But Whitney posts a letter grade next to each of them. ANd she seems to think that most of them are just wonderful -- particularly the really dreadful ones. For example: Whitney gave "Total Eclipse of the Heart" an "A" grade. No, I'm not joking. And I dont' think Whitney was either -- it sounded like she was serious when she described it as a really great song.

For the 9 billionth time people, the top 10 are not Whitney's picks but the top 10 songs for the week in that year according to the Billboard Charts. Jeesh.

Now, back on topic, that is the McFluffiest kitten I've ever seen.

Don't say "saucer of sweet milk". Milk is not good for cats and kittens. It messes with the disgestive system. A saucer of clear clean water is a better alternative.

"I tell you one thing that really drives me nuts, is people who think that Jethro Tull is just a person in a band."

I thought it was a pretty good post. It's supposed to be funny. You have to admit, the idea of the leader of a famous rock band posting cat care tips on his web site is pretty funny. Well, maybe you don't have to admit that, but I think so anyway ...
But i like Jethro Tull, and I get the feeling Whitney doesn't. Sounds like she's kind of making fun of them. I've seen some of the music Whitney likes (in her "top 10" postings) and I think she's in no position to be making fun of Jethro Tull fans.
Nice Tull song lyric reference in the title, though. But an even better one would have been "and the mouse police never sleeps."

P.S, anybody who stops by to read this, let's talk about how bad this post is, he-he.

Why does this not surprise me that NO ONE has responded to this. What the heck WHitney Pastorek! I think you and Michael should converse about the Mojitos you were talking about a couple of weeks ago instead.

Cats? Really?!
