Burger doesn't look abused at all. He (or she) just look bored and wanted something to do. Screaming felt right, so he went with it...
My fav part of the vid is after Burger gives up and lets out those two quieter yelps, just like "arrgh," "argh".... But that's before the final moment!

Jeez - some people are way too hypersensitive. My cat acts the same way when I even think about getting the vacuum cleaner or as soon as I pull my wooden clothes drying rack out of the closet. This kitty looks healthy and is probably at the vet. Chill out people!! This is no different than the idiotic crap they show on America's Funniest Home Videos. Lighten up!

Susan,my cats love me to death. I have 2 friends that, when combined, have 7 cats between them; when they go away for vacation, they ask me to house sit because they know how good I am to their animals. So poo-poo on you-hoo! I still thinks it's halariousj : P

That cat is possessed. LMAO! Yes, it was most likely abused and it is sad but it's still funny.
Jane Sat, Sep 2, 2006 at 10:12 PM EST
This isn't scary. I act the same way when I see my ex-boyfriend.
Carlos Sat, Sep 2, 2006 at 08:12 PM EST
Those of you complaining about the cat video seriously need to find better use of your time. If it really bothers you so much, adopt the little demon seed.
Stephanie Travitsky Sat, Sep 2, 2006 at 02:48 PM EST
I think that the cat is just ticked off because he was not mirandized.

The cat is probably afraid of the camera. My cat does the same when we try to take her picture and she has absolutely never been abused. I had another cat who hissed and growled at my potted palm. Cats are weird. Enough said.

Chuck, if you want to make the comparison to humans, fine. What if this cat was a person, screaming his heart out at someone's approach? Terrified? The video would be disturbing, to say the least. Not funny.
Chuck_A Sat, Sep 2, 2006 at 07:17 AM EST
Wow. That is one pi**** off kitty.
And to all of you "abuse weenies" out there, that cat seems to be in good health. He's probably just a mean cat. I can think of a few humans that are mean; does that mean that they were abused also?
Get over it.

I know there are people who think this video is hilarious, but I'm not one of them. The poor thing looks terrified; not funny to me.

Someone get that cat some holy water!

It's not that deep people. It really isn't that deep. It's all in good humor. Goodness, get over yourself. Must EVERYTHING be taken so damn seriously?
Anywho, that cat scared me sh*tless. But great video.
Amelia Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 06:16 PM EST
My dog is scared of my cat for tapping him with his clawless paws. He should be incredibally grateful!!
Susan Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 05:25 PM EST
Bottom line, Ed, you're laughing at the cat because it is scared. Too late? Nice....are you SURE you are a cat lover because I think the ones who should be scared are your cats.
Ed Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 05:17 PM EST
People need to chill on the animal activist stuff, it's funny. I'm a cat lover/owner but this cat would scare me. Whether or not it was abused, it's too late for this cat.
Bob Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 05:06 PM EST
This is most likely a feral cat, raised in the wild, not an abused animal. Hopefuly Burger learned to get along as a domesticated animal. Nothing to get worked up about.
Gio Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 05:05 PM EST
In really poor taste Mr. Slezak, that cat is obviously not in a good place and it isn't entertaining to make light of abused animals. Thought you knew better than that (and an embarrassment for EW).
Kent in Kentucky Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 04:54 PM EST
This cat has obviously been abused, and I find it repulsive that Entertainment Weekly would choose to put this on their website. I've been a subscriber of the magazine for many, many years and am absolutely shocked to see this on the website. This is unfunny and in HIGHLY poor taste. This is NOT entertainment nor is it even remotely entertainment related. I've got an idea, how about next week put on a video of dogs being beaten?
You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself and I will NEVER visit this website again.
Nicole Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 04:32 PM EST
I am also not amused by this clip. Cats do not behave this way, unless they've suffered years and years of neglect and abuse. I feel really sorry for Burger.
Heather Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 04:25 PM EST
This was funny at first but sad when you think about it because you know some a$$hole had to do terrible things to this poor cat to get it to act this way.
Jessica Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 03:25 PM EST
Am I the only one who thinks that's not funny? That cat isn't acting like that out of some inherent evil inner core; that's coming from an intense fear of humans probably brought on by abuse. He will probably be put down if he hasn't yet.
Stephanie Travitsky Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 02:56 PM EST
Oh no! That is one pissed off cat! "Grr! Get me out of this cage or I will claw the crap out of you!" "Damn it! I want my lawyer and some cat nip!" lol!
Brian Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 02:44 PM EST
Half of my office just spent five minutes huddled around my computer watching Burger over and over again, tears pouring down our faces. Thank you, Selzak, for helping get Labor Day weekend off on the right foot.
Patti Fri, Sep 1, 2006 at 02:35 PM EST
How do you find this stuff? There are lots of videos on the internets (TM Stephen Colbert) to surf through. Must be quite time consuming...

This is exactly how I felt when I read about the Ashlee Simpson/Chicago debacle.
